Visited Límon's on a recent girls trip to Isla Mujures. Great experience and definitely recommend. The chef/owner Sergio stopped by our table to greet us and give us a rundown of the menu which was a very nice personal touch. The food was delicious. Our favorites include: Hibiscus egg rolls, Shrimp Soup, Coconut Shrimp, and the fish. Not pictured is the Bananas Foster which was delicious as well. Would not recommend the chicken as it was a bit dry and the mussels while tasty had a bit too much cheese, so if you order suggest requesting light cheese. Overall great experience and will be returning on my next trip to the island. read more

Four of us had dinner here in a Friday night only because the restaurant we were going to eat at was closed. Very nice service and location, cash only (like many of the local restaurants). The owner introduced himself and spoke about the specials and his love of cooking. Service was fast and we did not feel rushed. The eating area is small and dark...not great of you're looking for views. The food was delicious: cilantro chicken, avocado salad, caprese tower, chicken satay and mixed grill for 2....our party of four all agreed the food and service were excellent! We had already eaten at many other good restaurants in the last 7 days, this was the priciest but in our collective agreement, worth it. Sergio and his staff are top notch. We had a party of four and ordered appetizers to share that were exactly what we hoped for. Then we each ordered different mains and argued over, while sharing, who's was the best. We finished with a shared pineapple dessert that we all wished we would have had two of. We visited Limon last night. The evening started with several items on the menu that we were not available. So, we decided to pick the mix grill to be able to taste their variety. After 50 minutes, the poor waiter came to tell us that there were no more beef medallions (waiter said it was best part) and they would replace with flank steak or chicken! After discussing that this was no equal with our waiter which he understood. We were informed that Management wouldn't offer anything else (rib-eye/tenderloin). So we ordered other items from the menu. 90 minutes after being seated we were finally served. Ribs were small, tasteless and far from tender. Potatoes cold. Shrimp in 4 spices were ok at best. We left before dessert. No conversation, no apologies, no efforts to make it right from owner. To top it off, something served made me sick most of the night. If you want a nice evening ... this is not the place. Try Fuego de Mar or Rosa Sirena. Nicer setting and far better food. read more

This is by far our favorite dining experience on Isla ! When you enter the restaurant you pass by the kitchen! The cooks are friendly and working as a perfect team. You then pass a few tables and step outside to a courtyard with upstairs seating above it. The upstairs is awesome! Request it when you make reservations. Sergio , the owner, was right there to greet us! Great guy! Now to the food! WOW!! Start off with the hibiscus tacos. They are unbelievable and a must try! The shrimp appetizer was excellent. The mussels were good, but I have had better over the years. In our group of six we had two steak filets, both cooked outside near us perfectly and both were delicious. We had a stuffed fish which was very tasty, and we had a grilled platter for two. The latter was huge!! So damn good as well. They had some excellent drink choices and though wine menu limited it was good enough. Service was perfect!! At the end Sergio recommended his pineapple dessert. OMG! It was served in a pineapple and is to die for! This is a hidden gem that only takes CASH, has in place excellent covid protocols and if your still dumb enough to smoke, you are gonna be doing it outside the front door. Husband and I had a beautiful dinner at limon! We were staying at PA so took a $5 cab ride to the restaurant. We had a nice table on the outdoor patio. It was early September so it was humid- but they had fans blowing on the tables. The service was incredible and it was fun to have the chef/ owner walking around talking to everyone and also Manning the grill! We ordered the stuffed fish with a cheese sauce and the pork chop and finished with the pineapple desert! My husband loved the stuffed fish and the cheese sauce that was on top. It was a large portion and he was externally happy with it. I had the pork chop and it was the best pork chop I've ever had and that's coming from a midwestern girl! The sauce on top was decadent. We finished with the pineapple dessert that was chopped pineapple , ice cream, bourbon and Carmel.... it was amazing! The owner also gave us a shot of homemade firewater that was fun. We also each had two drinks with our meal and it was about $75 with tip- so extremely reasonable! Make sure you make a reservation as it's a small restaurant that's very popular. read more

One of the best meals we've had on the island, amazing little place with so much charm, nestled in a small backyard with lighting. The food was outstanding! Mixed grill had all the proteins. Ribs, steak, fish, shrimp and sausage. We didn't order it, but the couple next to us had the lobster! It was bigger than the plate. We had a nice bottle of wine and the best pineapple dessert. After reading all of the positive reviews on other sites for Limon, and the Vegetarian category, our party of two vegetarians and an omnivore set out with high expectations. When we were first met with the question "Do you have a reservation?", and sat at a black-tablecloth table, napkins places in out laps, no less, we felt suitably impressed, and for the first time on Isla, underdressed. However, things went downhill from there. Inside, a TV was playing a DVD about Michael Bublé a little too loud, and on repeat. We had to ask that it be turned down. Service was a little slow. We felt it was too hot for wine, and so went with the reccommended margaritas. They were OK, but not all that special. We went with the vegetable tempura appetizer, which unfortunately arrived lukewarm. Between our appetizer and main course, we were offered and accepted to be moved outside. It was far more pleasant; where you can watch Sergei, the head chef cook seafood and steaks on the outside grill. He came by our table and introduced himself, which was very nice. The main coursw was also disappointing: the two vegetarian pasta dishes arrived bland and overcooked, and of the four-cheese pasta dish, my companion was pretty sure that one of them was velveeta or american. Our companion liked his tuna steak just fine, leading us to understand that this is a much better place for seafood and steak. All in all, we left with the opinion that it's best to make a reservation for outside before visiting Limon, and to stick with the wine and steaks. I had dinner at Limon last night. Fabulous decor and atmosphere. The back patio is lovely with palm trees and plants, outdoor lighting and a grill station where the chef works. Seating inside is upscale, modern and intimate. The menu is surprisingly traditional with focus on steaks and lobster. There's even pork loin. Seafood dishes have an Asian orientation (coconut shrimp, tuna with hibiscus sauce, everything served with a spring roll). I wanted something lighter so ordered the cilantro chicken with rice and sautéed vegetables - it was delicious. The service was leisurely and unobtrusive. If you want a very good traditional meal in a lovely setting, Limon will fit the bill nicely. read more

We searched trip advisor for a higher end restaurant with GOOD food. We had some rather tasteless meals and then a really horrible meal in the week we were there. We found Limon and were completely impressed by our meal from start to finish (we probably could have done without Michael Buble on repeat, but it was definitely amusining). Andrew ordered lobster which took a bit to prepare but we sat and talked then moved outside when the rain stopped. We were seated next to the owner who was barbecuing other patrons' meals and talking up a storm. He was a bit braggadocios but apparently had every right to be once we tasted his food. I ordered hibiscus tacos. OMG! They were amazing. They were served with a fresh guacamole that was drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Holy moly was it amazing! The owner explained that his wife is a vegetarian and has been cooking for her for years. Thank goodness because finding true non meat dishes here had proven to be a bit difficult when the locals only consider beef and pork "meat". Andrews said his lobster was terrific and perfectly done served with some heavenly mashed potatoes. He said it was super fresh and buttered just right. The owner bought us a drink and I believe would have continued to buy us rounds if we would have stayed. Unfortunately we had to go as we were both exhausted from the sun and a little over-sauced already. Knowing they were going to be closed the following day and that we were leaving the day after, we did not make it back but would have loved to if given the time. It deserves a 5, but because there were some extremely rare circumstances the night that I went, I have to give it a 4. There was a power outage twice, so we couldn't see anything, but I thought that made it cozy, plus the lights went back on in under a minute. They also ran out of the fish which we wanted, but it's because we went at such a late hour. GO EARLY and this will be an amazing meal. The tuna appetizers are delicious!! It's a little pricy compared to the cheap fish you could order from a beachside hotel, but the atmosphere in the backyard is nice and it's a nice experience if you want to leave your little beachside hotel or if you've rented a golf cart. read more

One of the best meals I have had. I had the tuna steak. I'm not a big fish eater. I asked Sergio what he would recommend between the lobster, Filet Mignon, or Tuna. He recommended the tuna. It was absolutely amazing. The others I was with had equally amazing meals we all traded tastes. My wife had the Filet Mignon. It was so tall it looked like a roast. I come to Isla Mujeres every year, I will be sure to eat there several times next trip. read more

This restaurant offers exceptionally fresh food- I am not a foodie, nor would I call this gourmet. But the food was prepared and cooked with love, thought and purpose. The portions, they will tell you are large, but they are reasonable. The biggest portion of things we ordered were the habiscus tacos- and they were also amazing! I didn't give this 5 stars because they were out of the brownie, it was extremely hot on the back patio (needs all the fans on- no air flow) and there needed some music for the ambiance. read more

We have been coming to the island for 11 years. This was our first experience at Limon. We had made a reservation. We were greeted at 8 pm as if we were a problem. We were seated in the courtyard. No breeze and no view available. We ordered two appetizers along with our meal. All items must be ordered together as we were instructed. Our appetizers of avacado and shrimp were tasty. Really wanted to like this restaurant as I heard great talk about it... our friends had the mixed grill and said the fish didn't have much flavor but they continued to eat it..unfortunately when I complained that I did not like my steak as it was not cooked the way I asked the owner/chef came over with a rather angry defense of his cooking and the quality of his steaks.. belittling me about my ability to know a good steak...
