We ate at Mango Cafe several times for breakfast during our stay, and it quickly became a favorite! Every visit came with a warm welcome and plenty of smiles from the staff. Nestor was the waiter, greeter, and all-around "make sure you're taken care of" guy. Fatema and Betty were wonderful servers--friendly, accommodating, and fun to chat with. And a big thank-you to Fege in the kitchen for the amazing food! The atmosphere is charming, with cute decorations and open-air seating. The fans kept us plenty comfortable during our October visits. Now, the food! The steak chilaquiles were the best I've ever had, and my husband said the same about his breakfast quesadilla. The famous coconut French toast absolutely lived up to the hype. Definitely worth ordering! But those potatoes... perfectly seasoned, topped with cheese, and mixed with a little corn. Sooo good! I'm still dreaming about them. Yes, we ordered them again. Of course we did. Prices were fair, and the generous portions made sharing easy. Just as we remembered Mango from 2014, it is the best breakfast place in all of Isla, possibly Mexico. It's a small nicely decorated restaurant. We had the aguachile, shrimp tacos, and coconut pancakes to share. The aguachile was absolutely fresh and delicious. The shrimp tacos were the biggest, juiciest shrimp tacos I ever had. I was a little full for the coconut pancakes at the end but tried to eat as much as I could stuff myself, because they were perfect. Sweet but not too sweet, a little crisp and came with some fresh fruits. The server was so helpful, we were actually going to order another dish but he told us it would be too much food. He was right! The portions were huge and I appreciate that he told us in advance. You can eat upstairs or downstairs, we ate upstairs and I loved the ambiance from up there. A local woman (ex Pat from Kansas City) told us about this spot. The prices are fantastic $95 pesos for a margarita vs 2 other spots we went to where they were $190 & $200 A group of six of us had, the empanadas, jerk chicken tacos, quesadilla, fish tacos, steak burrito and chips with guacamole with pico de gallo. We had about 8 drinks as well & the total was around $110. The food was absolutely FANTASTIC. You will not be disappointed! They also had a bunch of fans going which made the temperature really nice. Wow this place was amazing! The rooftop is nice and love the natural lighting. This place takes US dollars, pesos, and credit card. I wasn't expecting much for brunch but it blew me awayyyyyy. The matcha latte is a bit milky but still very good, I loved the ginger lemonade so freshing and their hibiscus tea wow so flavorful. Now for food, our favorite hands down was the fish tacos, thin light AIRY and SO CRISPY!! the sauce with mango nom nom nom The egg Benedict on crossiant was also really good and so flavorful, egg was perfect runny inside but not wet runny. But after passing by and then reversing and the nice gentlemen pushing another golf cart over to make room for us, I was sold. I guess we came at a good time cuz there was no wait. Took a golf cart to get here before going to Playa Norte. It was lunch time and we got: chicken quesadilla, steak burrito and fish tacos, food was superb. Watermelon mimosa was refreshing and tasted like a jolly rancher. Service can be a bit slow compared to typical American expectations, but honestly, it's just a different culture and way of life and I don't think we can factor that in a review. Yesterday we dropped in for breakfast at like 7 AM after coming back from Puntasur watching the sunrise. They had some hot coffee waiting for me at the self-serve station and had some coconut milk for it upon request. I got a wonderful plate of large fruit which I will show you. My friend got the fish tacos for breakfast but hey they were delicious and had some Panko crust. I forgot to get a picture of that one I believe. In the past I've eaten here and the poblano egg with bacon and cheese inside of it in a Panko crust is absolutely amazing. It's basically a Chile rellano for breakfast with eggs inside. Outstanding everybody loves the coconut French toast. The salads are out of this world and super fresh. And it's the middle of the island and the prices are so reasonable. I think everyone who came to Isla mujeres has came to mango so if you haven't get your butt here today. The staff & the ambience are just lovely. it's mostly open air they have downstairs and upstairs and they take great care of you. Most importantly it's cash only so pesos is all they accept. This place was a cute little restaurant, with relaxed servers and service. The service was great, but a little on the slower side. The slower service was well worth the wait. The stuffed Poblano pepper was amazing. We also enjoyed the quesadillas, and the French toast. The French toast was the possibly best French toast I'd ever tasted in my life. The service is awesome! The food is delicious! It is a little mom and pop shop with seating on two stories. We sat upstairs and enjoyed a leisurely late lunch. I ordered the fish tacos which were fried and topped with mango salsa. The mango salsa was so good! It made the dish very memorable and I would order it again. My husband ordered a beef burrito and also said it was very good. My daughter is kind of picky and they didn't have a cheese quesadilla on the menu, but they made it for her and she ate it all! We also ordered a grilled banana dessert that took a long time to make. It was good, but not worthy the wait. I would skip it. They take usd and menus are via a QR code.
