Came to Zama during my vacation to cancun. Of all the beach clubs, this one by far was the most affordable. The entrance fee was only like $10USD. The drinks were reasonably priced as well as the food. Our host was attentive and very polite. The beach ambiance was great; clean and free of clutter. One thing to note is you will get peddlers constantly trying to sell you merchandise but this is Mexico so its expected. However if you like cigars like I do, all the "Cubans" are fake so don't buy them. Will definitely come back to this relaxing spot for a day at the beach. read more

Forgive me, but I must have missed something. One of the ads says "in this luxurious Beach club features infinity pools." This beach club is almost everything one would want to avoid in a beach club. + Filthy dressing rooms with smelly standing water underneath open slats of wood. + No locker service, but torn apart locker ruins containing people's personal belongings. + Two small, old swimming pools filled with drunks carrying glass bottles and wine glasses. Twice I watched a drunk drop a beer bottle and have it bounce on the cement. What happens when someone smashes a glass? Do they close the whole facility and drain the pool? + Tiny, postage stamp Beach area. Normally one would appreciate a location away from the city center, but this location is so far from the city center the only way to get here is 2 rent a vehicle or pay for a taxi. Based on the description in all of the ads, I expected something similar to services typical of at least a two-star hotel. maybe I came in with way too high expectations. I traveled to Isla mujeres from my beautiful hotel with its four glimmering pools, one of which was an actual infinity pool. Do not travel more than 15 minutes from your place of residence to get here or you will be disappointed. The food. The food was tasty and the food service met expectations. That's the reason for two stars rather than one. I had the Yucatan ceviche and the fried calamari with a side order of french fries. The ceviche was plentiful and tasted good. The fried calamari portion was tiny and was a bit squishy. The french fries tasted bland and we're stale. read more

Rented a scooter to see the whole island and planned a stop at Zamas for an extended lunch. Spent a few hours on the beach, swimming in the pools and then enjoying margaritas (strong! but delicious) the BEST guacamole I've had in Mexico (I'll be adding watermelon and mezcal to all my guacamole from now on!) and their award winning octopus tacos YUM! A true island luxury experience without spending too many pesos. read more

Found this place while renting a golf car discovering the island. Ordered the Priemere seafood tower, got the wild mussels which were a bit dry, but eatable. They don't have lobster btw, the sauce was fabulous. They ran outta beer but had only Sol, there is an extension for an open buffet. They don't provide towels, so bring your own. We stopped by Zama for lunch while roaming Isla Mujeres on a day trip. We sat at a table on the beach and the views were great. They also have a dock that we went on to take pictures. They have an extensive menu of food and drink options. I started with the tortilla soup and for my entree I settled on the seafood paella which was not disappointing at all. The others in my group ordered shrimp tacos, which came with jumbo fried shrimp and were very delicious. The place is definitely worth stopping by. They also have a pool overlooking the beach so you could make a day out of it if you have the time. read more

I have been here multiple times, but not since their new menu. The shrimp and fries that we ordered was fantastic!! 11/10! A little pricey but it was worth it! This is my favorite beach club on the island. The beach itself is not like the crystal clear beaches of north beach but the vibes are pure relaxation. There's an occasional tour boat that comes through brining a bit of excitement but other than that, this spot is very calm. There's hammocks in the water which are perfect for relaxing without getting too hot, a fun swing perched just above the water, three well kept swimming pools and plenty of shaded dining at the restaurant and umbrellas with chairs at the shore. And the food. OMG the food is some of the best I've had on the island. I will be back just for the octopus tostada! It's one of the most unique things I've ever tasted. The staff are also exceptionally kind and the prices are reasonable. 100 pesos to rent a chair for the whole day and then menu prices ranging from 200 pesos and up for really good food. read more

Came with a party of 7 and got seated right away on the beach. And I cannot emphasize enough how amazing their property is. Not only do they have a 2 decker pool, but they have access to a portion of the beach that has hammocks on one side of the water, a dock in between, and a swing on the other side that is perfect for taking pics for instagram, family photos, etc. As is I wasn't already mesmerized by the view, their service AND food was also 10/10. Their menu has a great variety of options, from seafood to vegetarian options, and even some kid's options that satisfied our picky 8-year-old. I got the tuna steak, which was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is perfect for anyone on a romantic getaway, or just a family with parents needing a distraction for their children. read more

Tldr; antiblack racism, ignored while waiting for service My best friend and I were spending a few days in Isla Mujeres after spending a week in Tulum. We were hoping to find a nice beach club to relax and read for the day and picked Zama, due to its proximity to Punta Sur. The issues started when we arrived in our golf cart. The staff person, a guy, who waits by the front with a host offered to valet our golf cart. Initially, he started off with light jokes and it quickly progressed into unnecessary political remarks and antiblack comments, unprovoked ("all you guys voted for Biden right?" referring to Black Americans and comments Iike "Im Blacker than you, Ill take your Black card (impossible lol go away)" and "were all Black, we're all from Nigeria" referring to all Mexicans - which is obviously wrong and offensive, especially to the actual Black Mexicans who often are erased in Mexican political/social discourse). Just gross. We didn't need any of that, we came to sit by the beach and relax before flying back to NYC in a few days. Any Black American knows what it means when someone who clearly isn't Black implies that they're also Black so they can say offensive comments. My friend was upset and commented back to check him, and he just escalated with more ignorant comments about Black folks. We were led by another host to sit at a table by the beach. We sat and processed how ridiculous that situation was and realized we had been waiting for 15 mins without service. Waiters came and served tables next to us on both sides the entire time, but no one had acknowledged us or brought us a menu etc. We tried making eye contact with any staff person but were still ignored. At that point, we decided, based on the treatment so far, we didn't want to risk eating here and have something go wrong with our food. Eventually, we stood up and left. There are too many places on Isla Mujeres to tolerate racist/rude/lackluster service. read more

They lack customer service and making you feel welcome. A very simple order of shrimp ceviche took 45 minutes, and the tuna tostada although good took over 30 minutes. If the server would have told me there is a problem I'm on it or anything to make customers feel at ease it would make the difference. I always had to look for someone to get service. read more

Went to this location based off the reviews, nice property overall but the service we got was horrible. Got some lounge chairs by the beach and our waiter took the menus to us and after that he was no where to be found. I had to go to the bar to ask for drinks which is not a big deal for me but why have a waiter designated to us if he is not available. The place was not even busy but apparently he was. I hate leaving bad reviews or complaining but if you're going to spend money and try to relax by the beach I believe they need to really look at these staffing issues. The guy who parked our golf cart was probably the best employee they have. Save yourself time and money go elsewhere. read more

We were taking our golf cart to Punta Sur and wanted to stop for a drink & swim. This place was awesome! Everyone there was so friendly. The ceviche and shrimp tacos were unbelievably good & my husband is a chef so can appreciate good food when it is on point. That had a minimum drink/food order to use chairs and amenities but it was well worth it. The vibe was mellow when we were there. We'll definitely go back! read more

Many times on the island first time at Zama. Pleasant experience- stop in! NO COVER CHARGE! That's a relief. Most places try to get you to pay just to visit. And I think it is a shame that is the mentality of some places. Not here We were greeted by a very nice hostess. Super clean restaurants and bathrooms. The prepared at the table guacamole was delicious and and the kids enjoyed their chicken and fries. The beers were cold and drinks very nice. This place is Fire....From the time you park you greeted by Manny so kindly he takes your golf cart key and escorts you to the front door of Zama. He informs you of all the Zama has to offer and you are greeted by servers that offer you drinks and show you around the beautiful beach club. You can sit poolside, Lounge beachfront, swinging in the swing out in the water, lounge in the water Hammocks, hang out at the bar, or even rent your own private boat. Ramos was our captain that took us out on our boat tour with complimentary champagne where we toured the island in snorkeled in two different locations. Off the beaten path and a little more spendy perhaps but worth it especially if you're sick of crowds. Come and eat lunch and have some drinks and you get use of their pools, beach, showers. Nice friendly staff. You could drive by and miss this assuming it was a house. But that makes it all the better when you're looking for a little escape. Lunch for four of us was about $1500 mxn but we had four drinks four sodas, tableside guacamole and four entrees so given we are staying in an all inclusive and this is probably our one meal not included at resort or on a tour it's totally fine! This is an amazing beach club with all the amenities - and you pay for the experience. The food and service is fantastic, and we couldn't figure out why it would close at 7PM everyday. I highly, highly recommend this establishment, but leave right after the sun sets to avoid getting eaten alive! We never wanted to leave - until at 7PM a swarm of mosquitos came over from the lake. 30+ people left between 7-7:05PM. Don't stay after sunset. read more

We did a self guided two day margarita tasting trip around the island . This was our favorite. Ended up here both days. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hammocks over the water are amazing. They could use a few more. Recommend trying to time your visit in between tour boat visitors as it is not quite as peaceful. Minus one star for that and the loud music. Such a beautiful, peaceful setting deserves an appropriate soundtrack. Even so , can't wait to go back..... read more

By far my favorite place on the island. Grab a cushioned lounge chair (100 MXP / chair) and a towel (25 MXP / towel) and you're squared away from 10:00a to 5:00p. The fancy cushioned chairs have a per person 100 chair fee / 250 min for food and drinks but the beachfront non-cushioned chairs are free! We stopped in on a Wednesday at 10a and were the only folks until noon. From noon on there was a steady influx of local families and polite "in the know" tourists. The service was outstanding and the outdoor speakers had surprisingly modern playlist. This is a must do Isla stop! Come on down! read more

There are limited beach front chairs and they cost extra. There are only 6 total umbrellas so you may not get shade. Service was slow. read more

I have enjoyed Zama on two days of my vacation. The beers are cold and the service is fantastic. They are very attentive and helpful. We ordered ceviche which was fresh and well done. But the fish 'tixin xic' was fantastic! Excellently spiced and tender and served on beans and plantain. It was a good portion and my wife and I split both. There is a nice beach here, not ideal for snorkelling but good for a swim. The pools are warm and wonderful. You can use the facilities provided you buy some food and drinks. Don't expect to use these facilities for free. Everything is decently priced. I have already returned on this current trip and will continue to spend time here in the future. read more

We came here early on in the day during the week, so it's probably a bit atypical. We had most of this club to ourselves, but there are tons of spaced out loungers, chairs, and ample other seating under sheets for shade down on the beach. The dining area is large too, as is the number of table and lounge seating up by the pool. Make that two pools. With a cool shallow sitting/drinking pool(ette?) up above. Now, this is probably intended for that perfect combinationof drinking beer while sitting in the pool, but it was also perfect for my toddler, who loved crawling back and forth from the 6" to 12" deep parts. The pool seemed a little intense on the chlorine, but better that than the opposite? Their bathrooms and shower area is also super clean and convenient, and the staff was super friendly. I just spent a week on Isla Mujeres at a private villa. Zama Beach club was right next door. The pool looked fantastic and the place is really nice with many lounge chairs, hammocks in the water and is very neat and clean. The place seems to get a lot of business from the day cruise/party boat crowd as there is a dock right there and many catamarans and boats would stop in and drop people off. Everyone seemed to enjoy the club. It gets busy at times but is a large well staffed place so seems to be setup to handle it. We walked over there the first day to see if we could order some drinks. The servers over there were fantastic to everyone in our party. They delivered drinks and food to us at our place (including plates and cutlery) pool or beachside and checked in on us several times a day. Manuel especially was a fantastic server and took great care of us just about every day we were there. I should also mention Ivan who did a great job on a day Manuel was off. read more

Nice and quiet except on the weekend. Free usage of beach bed, and umbrella. Only 20 pesos to use a towel which is very cheap compared to 50 pesos charged by others. Food and drinks are very reasonable and of good quality. Service started slow but picked up speed. Pools are very nice. To swim in the sea, must walk across the Long jetty and dive in the deeper end as the shallow water right next to the sand is not good at all. Highly recommend it for a relaxing day at the beach away from the noise and crowds of playa norte. read more

We went here yesterday and I had read the reviews so I had high expectations. The grounds were beautiful. They have a couple pools (the website says it's heated but I don't think it is) and there is a beach that had a lot of seaweed. The pools were chilly but it was refreshing since it was so hot out! It was 100 pesos to rent a lawn chair and we only got beer. Our server was really nice but my only complaint was that the service was slow and we had to hunt him down for a beer.
