Went last night and had a wonderful experience. I had the saffron tagliatelle with shrimp and mussels, my companion had the mussels and fries. We shared the Mediterranean salad and the chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Everything was delicious, and the presentation was really lovely. Our waitress, Angelica, was friendly and attentive. Wine by the bottle and by the glass, and they give a very generous pour by the glass. Would like a non-alcoholic beer option but otherwise it was really perfect. read more

We got takeout from here and the food was excellent. The seafood tagliatelle was creamy and the saffron really came through, shrimp and mussels were perfectly cooked. The goat cheese salad was a yummy mix of greens and had goat cheese covered croutons which was an interesting touch. Really great spot for simple French food, if quite expensive. I am absolutely a new fan! Met my sister & family for brunch here, what a gem. Lots of regulars here (including, apparently my sister & her fam!) and a well loved team at Mexique. Cozy space, a few outdoor tables, outdoor patio for warmer weathers and they serve up some very delicious bites. French cuisine-American fare; we grabbed burgers and French toasts; with a side of mimosas for the drinkers and coffee for the non. My 15 yr old had steak & eggs - he loved it; husband, college kid & me - classic bacon cheeseburger w caramelized onions and I had sautéed mushrooms with mine; it was *muah* chef's kiss. Perfectly medium. Juicy. Steak cut fries. Like we cleaned our plates. I had a bite of my sister's thick cut French toasts... wow, super fluffy and tasty. My cappuccino complimented my burger. I can see why my sister is a regular, the staff are amazing, friendly and welcoming. The food is great. Been here a few times with my Aunt & Uncle, they are regulars who have been here enough to become friends with the owners. Every time has been great, the owners work here everyday and work so hard! Such kind & hardworking people that really bring a smile to their customers faces. Most recently we came for Mother's Day brunch. It was very busy but everything came out exactly how it should. Updating my review since my last one they have changed their service a bit. They are open for lunch and dinner now so while I'm sad I lost my morning coffee spot, I am thrilled to have a new dinner spot! With that said, don't miss out on this hidden gem tucked in the residential 6AV in South Slope. The food is absolutely amazing and the people who runs this place are the nicest people you will encounter in the restaurant business. Don't be fooled by the name either because it's not another Mexican restaurant in the area that's filled with them. I love their seafood tagliatelle, the carbonara and the truffle ravioli which was the special for the day when I was there for dinner with my family. I live a few blocks from here and have been meaning to try this cute place for so long! I was finally able to try it on a Saturday with my partner for brunch. It wasn't too crowded, and we were seated towards the back. The decor is adorable and the atmosphere gave off a chic vibe. My partner ordered the French toast which she loved and i ordered a burger, which was delicious! Only complaint is that i ordered it cooked medium but it came out pretty rare. I'm almost worried to leave a positive review, because Mexique is the best secret in the neighborhood. We sat out on the patio and it was the perfect night with a perfect meal. My husband ordered the Steak Frites and said it was the best steak he's had in a very long time. I ordered the burger, which while absolutely delicious, after trying the steak frites, I did wish I could turn back time. Oooh lala. Place looks nice...from the outside. I suggest they hang up a sign that says "no vegetarians or vegans allowed" so others don't have to waste time reading the menu. Absolutely perfect high-quality French food, in a lovely classic cafe atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. We had coq au vin and mussels and some very good wines, including a Bordeaux from the Medoc -- something I rarely see on a wine list. I live nearby and walk past here nearly every day but did not even realize it was a French restaurant. There's no obvious sign with the name, just some hard-to-see lettering on the window. They rarely post on Instagram. I worry that no one knows what's here -- just as we didn't! I hope neighbors will support this -- it's literally a hidden gem. read more

Stopped in to try out their coffees and salads. Both the Cobb and Mexique Salad were great. Very hearty, delicious, and carefully constructed. I added grilled chicken to the Mexique salad. It was seasoned well and tender. Our waitress mentioned that they are trying out pastries and provided a free blueberry muffin, which was good. She also said the chef is working on breakfast sandwich options. I'm really looking forward to stopping in on my way to work for a coffee and bacon egg and cheese on an English muffin in the future. been meaning to try this place for awhile and it did not disappoint. the food is very good, and thoughtful. i had the burger and fries. the burger was not greasy and was very thick! my husband had mushroom soup which was fantastic, and the carbonara which was so carefully made. we had the escargot which was different than any we had ever had, but good! we had the crème brûlée and the strawberries on it were so fresh! it's january! angelica and julio, the owners, stopped to talk to us for a bit and they are both lovely. let's give them lots of love so Mexique sticks around! it's an upscale hidden gem in south slope. the ambiance is so nice and we can't wait to get back! it's BYOB for now but they said they are working on getting a liquor license. read more

This place is a hidden treasure in Brooklyn. We had company from out of town and they got us a table and the server was the best!! The name of the restaurant is a little confusing because it is not Mexican food! The burgers, omelets, steaks and sides were so yummy. I told them about my dietary needs and they were extremely accommodating, my order came out perfectly. Delicious food and fantastic coffee. The caramel latte is the right amount of sweet, rich and creamy. The spinach and goat cheese quiche was probably the best I ever had, so fresh and the crust tastes like a flakey croissant. It comes with a perfect side salad. The chicken Milanese is also amazing. Expertly cooked chicken that is juicy and tender, topped with a fresh garden salad. You can tell the ingredients here are high quality and the chef is skilled. Great service too. Green-Wood Heights and Park Slope has a new little treasure of a restaurant, Mexique, on the corner of 18th Street and 6th Ave. It's boasts a menu of French food with a Mexican twist. Excellent food and very reasonable prices. The restaurant is woman owned. The staff is lovely, (Angelina and Wendy) and the interiors and the atmosphere are charming, with a lovely mix of french music playing quietly in the background. I've been there twice in the past week and will definitely be back often. Right now they're only serving breakfast and lunch until they get their wine and beer license. Give Mexique a try.
