My foodie friends wanted to make sure we stopped here on our food adventure. I always love coming…read morehere because the Mexican food is pretty good! But what I didn't know was that they don't have a happy hour...they have a HAPPY DAY!!!!! 10-6 PM! So even though we were not really hungry cause we just had lunch, we ordered some crispy tacos...which are four minis. The day was getting happier and happier! The bartender was great! Friendly and attentive! And it still has the same great vibe to just relax and enjoy! Gracias and Mahalo El Ranchero!

Flavor was solid, portion was generous, and the food itself is the main reason I keep coming back. The ambiance is chill and local. Most of the afternoon crowd seemed to know each other, which gives the place a comfortable neighborhood feel. That said, the inside is a little dingy and could probably use a renovation. The issue on this visit was the service. When we got there, it was pretty empty, maybe 4 or 5 people sitting at the bar. The guy working behind the bar seated us, but then never brought menus, never brought water, and never came back to take our order. When my friend tried waving him down, he ignored us. Eventually another employee came in, and the bartender just told him, "Go take his order," without acknowledging us at all. I don't know if he was only working the bar that day, but he could have at least brought water, menus, or simply said someone would be right with us. Instead, the whole interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessary. Food was very good as always, but service matters too. Based on this visit, I'd call it 3 stars overall.

Our son ordered the nachos appetizer as his main meal, my husband got the Mexico burrito, and I ordered the carnitas plate. I tried a bit of everyone's food, and honestly, we had zero complaints. Every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, not overly salty or chewy at all. The guacamole was even creamy! To put the value into perspective: a few days earlier, I bought three carne asada tacos with very little meat from a food court in Waikiki, and they were only a few dollars cheaper than my entire, massive plate here. The pricing is incredible for the generous portions you get, making it a great budget friendly option compared to everywhere else we ate while visiting Honolulu. My husband even noted that he had never had Mexican food this good in the States especially considering Honolulu is so far from the border! He rarely raves about restaurants, so the fact that he's already talking about coming back makes this place an absolute must try.

We ordered the 3 tacos for $10 off the happy hour menu, all carne asada, and they were so tasty we ended up ordering another round of the exact same thing! We also got the chicken burrito, which was super flavorful. The chicken was tender and juicy, and everything tasted really fresh. My husband and I both agreed we'd definitely come back and would happily order the same things again plus more! Our server was also very attentive and kind. We were the only table at the time and from experience, sometimes when a restaurant isn't busy, customers tend to get forgotten but that wasn't the case at all. She was knowledgeable about the menu and took great care of us. We didn't partake in any of the games, but they had an array of games available for customers, which would be really fun with a group of friends or family. And lastly, the bathroom was SUPER clean! That's always a big plus for me. Overall, great first experience and we'll definitely be back!

The menu has a broad selection: burrito, bowl, 2 tacos plate w/beans & rice, 1 taco, torta, quesadilla, salad. You choose your favorite protein (chicken, spicy chicken, carnitas, pastor, birria, steak) or Mexican potatoes or veggies. They also have "Fiesta Fries" or Nachos, w/birria or steak; 3 Quesabirrias & consume. You get to select the type of beans (black, pinto or refried) & salsa (mild or hot). In addition, you can choose to add pico, shredded lettuce, onions, cilantro, lime, jalapenos, corn, cheese, sour cream, guacamole. (Note: they also have "sides" of a variety of items like beans, chips, fries, tortillas, etc. We did not order any sides, so I'm not sure how large those servings are.) As a treat, you can try Jarritos (Mexican soda). They prepare your order fresh while you wait & are very courteous & friendly. Most dishes cost anywhere from $16-$21, which initially might seem a little expensive, but in my opinion are well worth it. They do not skimp on the serving portions & even a big eater would be satisfied! We tried the birria nachos, birria bowl & spicy chicken burrito. The birria (shredded beef) is very tasty & soft. The nacho chips are thick & freshly fried, so they held up well under all the toppings. We took the food "to go" & the chips were still crunchy ~30 minutes later. The bowl is a great low carb option. I'm assuming the burrito was good because my husband barely came up for air while devouring it. The hot salsa was very tasty. (The food looked & smelled so good that I only remembered to take some pics after we ate half our dishes!) Overall, I would recommend this establishment. We will be back!

I ordered nachos with al pastor, and that thing was so big, I don't know how they made the container close! The al pastor meat was a bit hard, but still flavorful. I was able to add as many toppings as I wanted, and the ratio of toppings to chips--was very generous, plus under them all was not just grated cheese, but also orange cheese sauce--a fond memory of mine from 7-Eleven nachos back in the prehistoric times. I love that stuff! The food court was practically empty, the music was loud and parking was easy. I'd happily go back for more!

Said that we could sit at any open table. First time there, she gave us time to look over the menu. Good selection, one is ground beef which one of my dinning companion likes. Chips and salsa right off the back. Mmmmm. 1) Cheese Burrito plate. Very good. 2) Taquitos plate. Crunchy, not over cooked. 3) Tamale / taco combo plate. I loved that the taco didn't crack in half when I bite into it like some other taco places. 4) Ground beef chimichanga. All plates comes with Spanish rice and refried beans. Pros: Nice portions that would fill you up. Food came hot and fresh. Con: Maybe it might have been me but, I would have like more chip and salsa. There was only one server, so service was slow or maybe it was the kitchen. Not sure. I hate these 3% charge card when paying for your food. Would I go back? Maybe. It's close to where I live and it's not as crowded as other places that are more known. Parking is easy when I went. I like that my crunchy tocos don't break apart when you eat it.
