Stopped by for takeout and ordered the torta milanesa. The sandwich was satisfactory. The meat is a thin, breaded flank or skirt steak. It also came with a drink of choice between soda or agua fresca, and I went with the agua fresca. However, I originally asked for the pineapple flavor, but I was given strawberry instead, which was not what I wanted. Wait time was about 10 minutes, which felt reasonable. The place itself was clean, with plenty of parking. The customer service was good, all the ladies were friendly. Besides the tortas, they primarily sell baked goods and pastries, so it's a good spot if you are looking for something sweet!
This is one of my favorite bakeries in the Bay Area. They have a great selection of fresh pastries, breads, cakes, and snacks. I have been loving their tres leches celebration cakes, and you can order any size you want and customize it to your liking. I also love grabbing fresh Mexican pastries from this bakery for breakfast and brunch. They have tons of sweet snacks, fruit cups and puddings, so there is something for everyone. It always smells amazing inside and their staff is so friendly and nice. It is always a good trip to visit this bakery.
Amazing baked goods, delicious tortas, and fabulous Mexican goods. Too much of a good thing is a great thing when it comes to Mexico bakery. My biggest problem when coming here is not being able to order and take home everything I want to eat, because if I did, you'd have to roll me out of the store. The staff are incredibly friendly and from the crack of dawn, at 6am they are open and ready to help. It's a small bakery with only a few tables and seats. I want to share the main reason I come to this bakery, and my favorite thing at Mexico Bakery, which is the Milenasa Torta. It's the best torta in San Jose and big enough for two people. Highly recommend this item, the baked goods and supporting a great business and staff that work here.
I was on the hunt for an authentic chocoflan for my birthday and stumbled across Mexico Bakery. When you enter, you will see a large assortment of sweet bread ranging from conchas to cookies and anything in between. I got myself a piece of chocoflan and I will say it was as good as it gets. The chocolate cake part of it was moist and rich while the flan was creamy and not overly sweet. I also saw they had a food selection and got myself a Torta Cubana. The torta was HUGE! Rich in flavors and the blend of all the different textures was on point. I will definitely continue coming back to this spot whenever I am in the mood for a torta or a some quality Mexican pastries and desserts.
I can always count on a solid torta from this place. My favorite are their milanesa tortas. I love their large bread selection and atoles. Their service is always fast and helpful. I also like their holiday cookie platters when in season.
Just like I mentioned last time, the Chocoflan is delicious! If I could eat it every day, I would! This time we tried to tortas too, those were yummy. My new favorite agua fresca from here is the watermelon one.
I had a hankering for a mini fruit tart and this place had promising reviews and enticing pictures. Bakery is colorful both inside and out, it can benefit from a bit of cleanup though. There seems to be liberal use of what I can only assume were artificial colors in most of their offerings. I sampled mini fruit tart, flan and some cookies. All of them were a little too sweet for my liking and pretty heavy. Not my cup of tea!
Quick service - plenty of freshly baked options. Issue is to pick what you want to leave with!
The best in the game when it comes to pan dulce & sweet treats. They are open on Holidays and have you covered. With so many sweet options and sweet packs. The pan is moister than other pans and very soft. Yes it's best with our cafecitos & abuelitas but also can do without ! It's busy but the line moves. Fast and friendly service. They have variety of gelatina, leche flan, choco flan, cakes, & cookies. Never tried their savory foods, but will need to next time :)
I had to try the matcha horchata... and it was so good! Of course my big back wanted a torta too! It was shareable, but i sure did eat the whole thing!

Many years ago we enjoyed the Cubana, Ham or Salchicha Tortas and the wonderful full size Chocoflan. All a hit within my circle. This time we had a coffee, bolillo and a Torta de Jamon, expected the Torta to be cold per the handwritten sign but it came out toasty, hearty and did NOT disappoint. I think hubby was not clear when he ordered it. Each bite of the Torta was muy delicioso. Bolillo was pricey.Coffee was cafe and de Agua Fresca de Sandia was a tad sweet but still delicious with all the watermelon bits. I'll be back for another Torta and a Chocoflan because it's been a minute.
I saw this restaurant from an influencer and it was spot on unlike other videos I've seen. Anyway, so many choices! We came in around 7 and I thought the selections would be slim, but they had everything! I had been looking for chocoflan for the longest and they had the mini ones! Stoked! Next time I might try the sandwiches.
This is my favorite place to get a made to order sandwich in all of San Jose. The Cubana torta is so loaded with so much meat. Most people would only be able to finish half let alone a full one. It's also the best Mexican bakery in all of San Jose. I love the selections, mostly the flan. It might even be the best overall bakery. read more

I brought my friends here to try Tortas for the first time. They're Asian and their sandwich of choice is Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). After morning basketball, I told them to try this place as I believe they make one of the best tortas. Food (4.5 stars) One actually preferred the Cubana torta. That's the one with the egg, chorizo, ham and hot dogs. It's more of a breakfast sandwich. I'm ok with it, but my preference is the.... Milanesa torta is my hands down favorite. I love the seasoning of the breaded meat. I believe it's pork but could be beef. I think there is a hint of cumin, but whatever the spice is it's great. Just like all of their tortas, they pile on the standard fixings of Mexican cheese, fresh avocado, tomatoes, and jalapeños. Their bread is lightly toasted and buttered. It's a massive sandwich! Service/Ambiance (4 stars) You order at the cashier and each order comes with a drink. We were able to choose between a canned soda or their agua frescas. Of course we want the full on Mexican experience and I got the strawberry pineapple Fresca. The lady was generous enough to allow for less ice which means a lot more drink. It was unbelievably refreshing! This is a bakery with about 10 tables for dine in. The clientele are blue collar workers and adventurous foodies like us. Came here on a Wednesday night and there was no line. We ordered on the kiosk and got the milenesa sandwich and the empanada con crema. The wait time was a bit long as we had to wait 20 minutes for both items even though the empanada con crema should have been ready immediately since it came from the pastry case. The milenesa sandwich was pretty big and was more than enough for 2 people to share. However, the meat was a bit dry and was overcooked as it was hard to bite into. The toppings were also limited as there was only cheese and onions; no lettuce, sour cream, or guac included. The empanada con crema was pretty good as it wasn't too sweet and the cream filling wasn't too light. However, I wish there was a bit more filling in it as I only ate like 4 bites of the empanada before the filling ran out. read more
We came here after hiking nearby. This bakery has a big variety of pastries and cakes and legit food, so we sampled quite a few items - the carne asada torta was huge and filled with meat and fresh avocado, the pollo quesadilla was super cheesy and came with good salsa, and the choco flan was not too sweet and had a good creaminess. There was a short wait since service was slightly slow in the afternoon, but the food was good. I also recommend checking out the menu via some food delivery app since the in-store monitors were broken when we went. read more
I've known about three locations around San Jose, and this location has been by far the most popular, yet, most convenient from my house. Though the plaza is small, it is bustling with people coming in and out of the different stores, and Mexico Bakery happens to be one of those panaderías where you just can't get enough. They have a wide array of selections, from pan, to aquas frescos, to atole and champurrado (in the winter), to much more. However, the one season that I enjoy the most is when they make the Rosca de Reyes for Día de Reyes (also known as "Day of the Kings"). Fun fact: did you know that every single rosca they make is ACTUALLY from scratch? Makes for a reason why they're so popular, especially when it's on a holiday. In addition, their arroz con leche is one of the BEST in the region -- probably better than the ones they sell at the supermercados in Eastside. Infused with raisins and bits of cinnamon that you can still taste, it melts RIGHT in with the milk and it's so delicious that you simply can't get enough of it. The people who work at this location are VERY nice and very helpful -- and they create a sense of community for newcomers and regular customers. This has become not only my partner's favorite panadería to come to when he comes to San Jose, but it's also become my favorite panadería as well when I want more cheaper, affordable, yet sweet options. A lot of people say that the atmosphere at Mexico Bakery is not really in its best condition -- but in my opinion, they do a fine job of keeping everything clean in front of the store and at the counter as well. read more

The pan= 3 stars. Hot chocolate = too sweet. Aqua de piña=3 stars. The chorizo burrito=3 stars. Although It's a pretty big size. Quesadilla de pollo= 4 stars. Torta Cubana = the size of the torta is HUMONGOUS. It'll definitely keep you full all day. I personally I didn't enjoy the salchicha or ham. I should've gotten Asada. It took around 20 minutes for us to get our food. There is a kiosk in a corner that works and accepts card. We used it to avoid the line. It didn't print out a receipt, but they announced my food order. The majority of people were waiting in line to order with an actual human. We tried that too and it took so looong! They have tables and chairs so we sat and ate our food. People kept coming in and out. We saw a hello kitty cake being picked up that looked wonderful. read more
We stopped in on Saturday evening to get some dessert, and were pretty overwhelmed by all the amazing treats. Rows and rows of pan dulce, cookies, and cakes filled the huge glass cases. We came across a selection of inventive desserts in cups, and got the 3 leches and a strawberry shortcake. Both were super decadent and delicious. This place isn't super close to me, but it'd be worth the trek to come back! read more

Always my go to Torta spot. The portions here are HUGE. The price seems a on par for what you get. I got asada while my girl got a Cubana. We both only ate half and saved the other half for dinner. And to be honest I think that's all I ate that day. Service is speedy for the business no more than a 10 min wait tops. The atmosphere is lively and the smell of fresh bread makes you enjoy the wait. read more

Yes!!! Their tortas are amazing and so are their Agua frescas. Also I would always get the chocflan and pan dulces .. yum!!! I can't really say anything bad about this place other than it's gotten extra busy since SJfoos blew them up on IG. I mean they were already well known but now the tourists know! Oh well it's good business for them. Get the tortas!!! Everything is good here! read more

Of course all the yummy pan y pastries y cookies n aguas y mas! Came in with the smell of baked bread n they have champurado I love it my favorite! I ordered a tamale prepared with Green salsa wasn't to spicy but it was spicy n then drizzle with crema it was a cheese and Jalepeno tamale. So delicious The perfect combo with great customer service and a free sample of their cookies they passed out to all the customers which is great read more

Asked for a Tres leches slice that they sell which is really good but someone new helped me and gave me a slice with no milk nothing so it's just dry no flavor I'm really sad and disappointed this is my go to spot for Tres leches. read more
My favorite childhood bakery! I've eaten so many amazing pastries, cakes, and tortas over the years from here. The service here is pretty quick and the staff speaks primarily Spanish, just a heads up. Their tres leches cake is the best and I loved that I was able to get my best friend the cutest small birthday cake without a customized order! read more
