Great margaritas! Food was okay! Service started out great, then I think they got overwhelmed with the amount of people coming in. I literally just ate here and I just have to say this was the worst experience I ever had. Not only were they unorganized, they barely understood English, and it took twenty minutes to get somebody's attention. When we spoke to the manager, he also didn't understand English (overall he really was no help). None of the waiters came to check on us nor did the manager after we filed a complaint to him. On top of this, the food was trash and it didn't really have a great taste to it - when we asked for the check, to my surprise they already included the tip when they didn't even deserve it nor did they work hard for it. To make things worse, there was a rat running around in the back area where everyone was eating. No staff member was coming to check on us or apologize after we all screamed. read more

Tonight I had the most amazing time at Mexico 2000 with all of my favorite former colleagues. This restaurant went above and beyond with every detail to ensure that our experience would be perfect in every possible regard. When we first arrived we ordered specialty drinks that were out of this world. We were also given chips and salsa that tasted fresh as could possibly be. Then we ordered and were brought out our dishes that were authentic Mexican style and absolutely delicious!! The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Won't be going here again!!!! Thought since it was Cinco de Mayo it was going to be a good idea to try out this restaurant but I was very disappointed. First, there was only outdoor seating available, we ordered frozen margaritas but was given a regular small straws that I couldn't drink from due to the margaritas being too thick and frozen. They should've given us the bigger straws for frozen drinks that normally are given out. We ordered nachos and my coworker also ordered fries. It took about 25-30 to get our food. Once it finally came we noticed that the fries were cold and they looked like McDonald's fries. Once we tried them to our surprise they tasted just like McDonald's fries. Apparently they were, and that's why we waited sooo long for our food. We think that they didn't have any fries in house and someone either Door Dashed or went to McDonald's to get the fries they served us cold. After we finally was able to drink our margaritas after we waited for it to melt so we can drink it, we decided to order another set of margaritas but this time on the rocks. I ordered coconut flavored and my friend ordered spicy margarita. Once she tasted hers she was shocked on how spicy and strong it was. The coconut one didn't taste like coconut and it was very strong that i couldn't enjoy it. Not only were they overpriced but we didn't enjoy it at all. We both left them and our waitress offered us a free drink. I ordered strawberry flavored but this time it had NO alcohol and it was SUPER sweet. I was soooo disappointed and we decided to ask for the bill and left. Service was very slow, waitress wasn't attentive, food and drinks wasn't good. I came here after work for some happy hour drinks. I had the frozen margarita which were great. I was still full from my lunch that I ate at work earlier so I didnt get a chance to try their food. My friends and I came in close to midnight a few weeks ago. When we walked in we were invited to sit down to eat, however we said we'd do take-out instead. He gave us menus. A few minutes later (yes, literally only a few minutes passed) he asked us if we were ready to order, but we were still deciding. He then told us the kitchen was closing soon and began to act very impatient. Why invite us to sit if the kitchen is closing soon? OR why not simply say so at the point when we walked in the door? That is customary, right?? When my other friend questioned him about this, he became very condescending, calling her "sweetie" and "hun." I guess he was trying to placate her by doing so. Despite his attitude, my friend who initially took the menu decided to order because she was very hungry and options nearby were limited. Maybe about 10 minutes later some "locals/regulars" came in after us, and were greeted warmly, then welcomed to order food. But when we came in only 15 minutes prior he was in a rush? Very rude. And apparently this is the owner/manager? I'd hope this wasn't racially motivated. However, myself and my friends are all African American. I also know enough spanish to understand when someone is talking crap. Try it yourself and draw your own conclusions, but i'd be remiss not to warn people. Myself and my friends will not be returning. Bad service is one thing, being offensive and rude earns you 1 star. read more

Ordered nachos from here, estimated delivery time is 30-45 minutes. 1.5 hours go by, nothing. I call restaurant and ask them what's up. After leaving me hanging for about 5 mins, they say the driver is on the way. I ask why he's an hour late and get a "durr?" In response. After having lived in Texas for most of my life, moving to New York meant getting mediocre Mexican food... until that is, I discovered Mexico 2000 last year. They have opened up a restaurant just two doors over to the original spot but this place is really, really good. Their delivery is timely and everyone is super friendly. Their english over the phone, depending on who you get, isn't always the best but I just love it when this one guy picks up and says "Mexico Dos Mil"! My favorite dish to order is the Mole Enchilada... the mole is so, so good. There really isn't a dish that isn't great; I also order the tamales and tacos pretty often too. Check it out! read more

Man i can't get over the excitement i feel each and every time i come to this place. We had some spicy guac & boy was it spicy. But very appetizing & satisfying. Followed by some mussels for me & some enchiladas for her. Oh i was a little greedy & had the sope with beef tongue. I know it might sound nasty to some but you just have to take a chance. Me and about 8 of my best girlfriends were in Brooklyn for a show and could not find a restaurant that could accommodate our large group in such short notice on a Saturday night. One of my friends found Mexico 2000 and we made reservations and raced there (so hungry). This was the best decision of the night. Not only was the food AMAZING, but the service was, too. The music was getting the crowd shimmying from their seats - amazing playlist. The servers ended up bringing beautiful sombreros over to our table and took several photos for us. We were all out of our seats and dancing (mind you, this is a sit-down restaurant), but the energy, food and music there was great! We made plans to go back soon! read more

We order here ALL the time now haha. So sad I just discovered it recently but it's really good food for a really good price. And quick delivery!! My absolute faves are the chorizo sope and lengua sope. I've also ordered the huarache but I'm a sope girl. The sope itself is a thicker corn tortilla, soft/chewy in the middle with a crunch or bite to the outside. I wanna say it's like a bagel and a pita had a corn baby? Anyway, I love the texture of it! They top it with black beans, lettuce, sour cream, and cheese and it travels to me really well in the delivery container. The chorizo is extremely flavorful and tender, chopped up and sprinkled over the other ingredients in the sope. Also, it fills me up and it's only $6?!!!! Yes please! I always end up ordering the chorizo over the lengua solely cus the chorizo flavors are so punchy but I need to sing the praises of the lengua too because it's so tender and tasty. It is cooked to perfection and then cubed up onto the sope. Also, the sopes come with salsa rojo (a sweet & smoky flavor) and salsa verde (bright & zingy) - both are yummy and balance well with one another. This latest order, I compromised and got the chorizo sope with one lengua taco so I could have both meats hahaha. Maybe I should see if they'd do lengua and chorizo on one sope TOGETHER?! That would be amazing... My boyfriend's doing a ketogenic diet right now so he wanted something low- to no-carb. This latest time, he ordered the bistec con champignones (steak and mushrooms with a side of veggies). He forgot to mention how he looked it cooked but they nailed it - medium rare perfection. Also, just like... REALLY impressive steak *especially* considering we got it delivery. It was a lil messy in the delivery container but we transferred the steak and veggies to a normal plate and then poured the mushroom sauce that it was sitting in into a small bowl so he could dip the bites of steak in it. Terrible experience. Wish I could give it 0 starts bc the service was nonexistent. Went here at about 5:20 pm on a sunday. Busier than expected as they were having a baby shower in the back. No problem, we were seated right away (party of 2). By nearly 7pm we were still sitting with no food in sight. And the waiter who not only served a different party of two before us (who sat down after us and were also hispanic, only noting race here bc it does indeed seem like a racist ploy our behalf as we were the only patrons at that time who where non-hispanic/spanish speaking), also paced back and forth past us several times with out checking in or updating us on our order. Only after I gave him a death stare upon the party next to us finishing their apps and receiving their meal did he put up one finger as if saying "wait a minute" -as if we didn't already wait long enough! On top of that he still gave no reasoning or apology towards why it was taking so long for our food in particular when we only ordered some wings, tacos, quesadilla and corn ( I mean seriously thats all made of out of the same stuff). The party next to us ordered similar things btw so this is where the race thing comes into play because it really made no sense. And in between this all its not like the server was busy, the baby shower hadn't started and he spent most of his time sitting down, watching the game and chatting with other patrons. Really sad as this once was a neighborhood taco spot. Not for long- more and more options open everyday in Williamsburg with impeccable service and food so I will not be surprised when this one falls to the wayside. Hope it happens quickly! Wow. This place is near my house and I have shopped at the adjoining market and always been pleased. I'm probably mistaken, but the new swanky restaurant is a sign of their success: these tacos used to be hauled from the back of the shop. Ordering through the the Yelp app was easy: the menu is impressive. I checked the boxes and was given a time window. Arrived to find a chill as fuck afternoon bar scene: neighborhood Mexicans and a few hipster musician types taking advantage of the killer happy hour: 3 tacos and a beer = $10. I know it's banal but I only ordered the nachos and they moved me to write. The freshest guac, a side of home made pepper sauce, for fresh nachos covered gently in cheese the best peppers, refried beans and sour cream.
