My coffee was wrong, my eggs were cold and bacon was burnt and was missing my home fries from the platter which I had ordered. Ordered two breakfast sandwiches & pancakes today for delivery from their website. After almost an hour I called to check the status of my order. The lady had told me they were busy, and had not started the order but she said to hang tight for 20 mins and my food would arrive soon and hot. I told her I understood they were busy and I appreciated her honesty. Another hour went by and still nothing arrived. I called a second time to cancel the order because it had been almost two hours. Spoke to another person who seemed to sound like they hadn't even started the order yet. I'm extremely torn on this place. (As I am on my home state of NJ.) I do enjoy it. The food is extremely well prepared. The egg white based entrees are actually really delicious and if you are trying to work out it has an extensive plethora of Myoplexes, protein supplemental beverages, energy pick me ups and diet you name it. So why not a 5 star review because if you are on any sort of budget eating even semi regular breakfast at Metro Cafe is unsustainable. If you were to make even two simple modifications your omelet is up charged twice even for simple normal modifications add a protein drink. your up in the $12 or $13 dollar ball park for an omelet that is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller in mass than an omelet you can get at any ol' Jersey Diner. I understand what the owners are trying to do. They are hoping to capitalize on the gym near by and exploit that "I'll pay ANYTHING for breakfast, so long as it is healthy and fits into my dietitians regiment" crowd. I found this place on my local search for great breakfast so figured I would give it a try. My usual breakfast of choice when on the go is always a ham, egg, and cheese sandwich on a roll. This is what I ordered from Metropolitan and I must say it was OK. The roll was fresh, but everything else about it tasted old. I asked for no pepper on my order and it came with pepper. (Had to drown the sandwich with ketchup to get the taste out) The service was great. The staff who took my order was very friendly and greeted me with nice smiles. This for me is important especially on a Sunday morning. The location was clean and the area nice suburban type lifestyle. I did think it was a bit pricey for the breakfast sandwich. $5.50 to be exact. I would probably be going back again to give the lunch specials a try and the sandwiches they make there. read more

Friendly service. Clean and comfortable. Fresh bagels, might be a little dense / substantial to some. I like spicy food so the jalapeno bagel is a favorite. Muffins baked in house as well, from scratch, can be a bit dry so having it toasted and a little butter help. Had the Tijuana Cheesesteak panini - flavors were good, plenty of meat, however it was a bit on the dry side, had to put a little mayo. One Monday, we placed an order through their website for the $6.50 Panini lunch specials - which includes a bag of chips and 20 oz. soda (as printed on take out menu and stated in the details section for their website/ online ordering). When food was delivered, the bill showed that our credit card was charged a few extra dollars. The cafe claimed soda was supposed to be canned soda and not 20 oz plastic bottle - hence the surcharge. We did not receive any call prior to the delivery, they just charge our credit card extra - not cool. This has been a ongoing issue with this cafe and it's quite frustrating to see it's not fixed yet. For that I had to take a star out - sorry Metro, fix this problem or refund us, then we will update our review. Think it's only fair. read more

I ordered breakfast food for delivery and the delivery guy was 1 hour and 20 minutes late. He first called me and said he was outside and I had to walk outside to find him and he wasn't there. He goes, "oh wait I'm not in the right place" and said he'd be there soon. 20 minutes later he finally arrived. Our food was cold and they didn't even give us syrup for the French toast which was soggy at that point. My husband threw it out. My omelette was cold. He also forgot my coffee that I paid for too. The other day I ordered from this cafe during my lunch period from work. I ordered a Waldorf salad platter with chicken. I didn't receive my food until an hour after. Not only that, there wasn't any chicken in my salad platter! So then I called them, and said you guys didn't give me any chicken. I've been ordering breakfast from here for a few months now, and I have mixed reviews. While the food is fantastic, the delivery service could be better. I ordered today with my coworkers, and the order didn't arrive until an hour and a half later. If I hadn't called to check on the order, who knows how long it would have taken to receive my order. The website usually gives an estimated time range of 45 minutes to an hour for delivery before you submit the order, but at least call if you're not going to deliver within the estimated time range. read more

I started going to this place frequently about a year ago. They have good food at a reasonable price. Many times, they have been overcrowded. Even though it took a long time to place my orders, I was comforted by the cute blonde girl that always called me sweetheart or darling. I also noticed all the other girls working like horses which is why I never had a problem leaving a tip. Today was the last straw. I walked in and noticed a couple that was taking several minutes getting their order to the old man behind the computer. When I thought the pain was over, the man decided to order lotto tickets. It felt like an hour watching this old man operate the lotto machine. Finally, the couple left the counter while I stood there unnoticed while a few of the staff and the old man were trying to figure out what was going on. After another short while, he finally gave me a blank stare prompting me to give him my order. I didn't even get to the side of bacon, when he abruptly left me standing there while trying to get a handle on another order(s). I just had it and walked out while telling him to cancel my order. This place does not know how to manage busy day parts. They should find something else for this old man to do in the back of the house. During busy times, it would be helpful to have someone efficient and guest friendly working the front computer. The lotto machine has no business being there and is not worth the pennies you're making at the expense of others just looking for a quick meal. Unfortunately, I will miss their buttered whole wheat toast, the way they make an egg sandwich, the good-looking counter girls and mocha cappuccino but won't be back. There are better bagels elsewhere in the area and worth the trip. The Boulevard Diner down the street is much more comfortable and had me in an out with a full house and wait at the door for Mother's Day. Perhaps the food was free as a result of how the game ended. But who knows. Great place for breakfast and lunch.
