However, we wanted to try something that seemed very interesting. I found the Milano market that offers great sandwiches which is up the block from a friend of mine's high-end supermarket on the west side. After looking at this, we decided to order four sandwiches. A salmon, Eggplant Parm, Cuban and Italian sub sandwiches. I have to say the most important thing in the sandwich is the bread. They offered like fresh baked rustic Ciabatta, and heros. Plus from the panoply of various sandwiches that they make they don't skimp on the condiments or the main ingredients. The salmon which is hard to do was fresh and medium not well done or dry. The eggplant Parm was amazing. The Cuban delicious with fresh pulled pork and stiletto thin ham with an amazing bite made me want to speak a different language, and the Italian made both of us speak in Italian because my beloved speaks fluent Italian and I am part Sicilian. This place is truly a cut above. If you want a sandwich that is truly a meal, this place really doesn't disappoint. Will definitely be going there from time to time for something amazing.

Molded Cheese. Flowers last one day…read more High prices (Please read my full review) I am writing this with a heavy heart because I genuinely enjoy coming here for occasional groceries. The cashiers and staff are always sweet, professional, and straight to the point without forcing awkward conversation. Management is approachable, and the team is consistently kind. I wish I could shop here all the time, but the astronomical price markups across basic items make that impossible. It's been like this as far as I can remember dating back to well before 2016. I reached out in writing through their website form months ago to share this feedback directly, but I never received a response. I am posting publicly now hoping this review reaches the right people in leadership. I also strongly encourage other shoppers to speak up about these issues, because customer voices are often the only way real change happens. My primary concerns come down to pricing and severe quality control: -Astronomical Prices: The markups here are startling compared to other stores, especially on everyday staples like dairy, poultry, and even basic rice. Seeing non organic blueberries priced at $8.99 right in the middle of peak blueberry season is a prime example. These inflated prices keep inventory sitting on shelves far too long. -Specialty Cheeses: I have always relied on this store for their selection of cheeses for charcuterie boards and entertaining, and I am very knowledgeable about gourmet cheese. Over the last couple of months, nearly every special cheese I have purchased including Pecorino, Manchego, Gouda, and Cheddar has developed visible green or white mold that turns bright green after just one day in the fridge. Even cheese that is not expired or on special smells distinctly off right out of the package. The manager was very gracious when I brought a package back, but this points to a deeper inventory or temperature issue. -Floral Department: The flower quality has been equally disappointing. My loved one and I have purchased bouquets here over the past six months, and they collapse within a day or two. A recent bunch of sunflowers did not even last a few hours in an air conditioned room. It feels as though fading stems might be dyed to look deceptively fresh on the display floor. I remember decorative pumpkins were on sale here for nearly $30. When items like cheese and flowers spoil almost immediately, it naturally creates doubt about other perishable departments. How can shoppers trust the freshness of the poultry, or know that expired cheeses are not being repurposed in the hot foods section? Revisiting these price points would help move food out faster so we can depend on fresh stock. If you have noticed similar issues, please consider leaving a review or speaking with management as well so leadership takes this feedback seriously. I truly value the team and want to feel confident in the food I buy here.

After the cashier told me the price, I said I was paying cash and wanted the discount. He claimed the $10 was already the discounted price--apparently he knew I was paying cash before I said anything. This used to be a nice place when it first opened. Now the prices feel like price gouging. Also, I couldn't find prices posted on the items inside the store. If they're required to display prices, that's a problem, and I'll be filing a report with the city so it can be reviewed. Avoid this place. There are three other delis just down the street that charge fair prices. This order should have been around $6.

It arrived fast and fresh. The reasonably priced Reuben sandwich hit the spot. If in the neighborhood, I might grab another Reuben! While it wasn't overstuffed or fancy, like you may find at other places in the city, it was flavorful and satisfying. Added to that, I ordered their Philly Cheesesteak, which comes with onions and peppers, adding mushrooms and ketchup. Since they offer it as both on a roll or hero, I'd suggest the hero size is worth the extra $1.50. Having grown up in Philly, it was good but not great. You may find a better version elsewhere.

If anything, I feel like a two and a half stars would be appropriate. That being said, I think the negative reviews are due in part that Morton Williams is about as expensive as Whole Foods but way less selection than a Whole Foods or even a C-Town. But the prices and selection are what they are because of location. They are right by Columbia University. In terms of supermarkets in the neighborhood, it's on par with Apple Tree, which I would consider three stars but definitely not as good as Westside Market or H-Mart in terms of selection but that's the tradeoff for the proximity to campus. To be fair I haven't done a ton of shopping (I've mostly bought protein bars out of convenience) and personally if I lived there I would walk the extra 6 blocks to Westside Market for the fresher produce and better selection of goods. The times I've shopped there, I was processed fairly quickly.
