I came back to this diner after a yelp experience. They have a big size parking lot and a lot of stairs to climb to enter the establishment. Once inside the restaurant you are greeted and seated. The place is huge and spacious while offering seats all over. We had a booth! Our waiter was Rock-O, he was very thorough and engaging, providing great interaction and conversation. Rock-O went above and beyond effortlessly, displaying fantastic customer service to not only my table but to his section as well. I had pancakes that were perfectly created, turkey sausages, and egg whites. My plus one had traditional French toast, bacon, cheese eggs. The food was very good. The only downside to the restaurant is the air conditioner being on high causing the food to get cold fast. You needed a shovel to get it down faster to avoid the food temperature change. Besides all that miner dislike, everything was good.

I had to take this picture, why not?

We came here for brunch, and River View Diner really hit the mark. I ordered the waffle with two eggs, and both were delicious -- the waffle had that perfect crisp edge, and the eggs were just how I like them with salt, pepper, and ketchup. My spouse got pancakes, and we shared bites fluffy, warm, and comforting. The coffee was fresh and flavorful, a must for any brunch stop. The Staff was super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They checked in to see if we needed anything and were quick to clean and reset tables as guests left. It felt organized and welcoming from start to finish. AmWhat makes this place stand out is the vibe. The walls are covered in international currency and photos of old Hollywood stars, which gives the diner so much personality. It's casual and nostalgic in the best way. Bonus -- they're open 24/7 and there's plenty of parking around the building. Overall, this diner is a solid choice whether you're coming for breakfast, brunch, or a late-night bite. We'll definitely be back!

We frequent this place on weekends and it's no surprise it's always busy. The food is fresh, the French toast my usual go to, but they recently added a breakfast burrito (the farmers wrap) which is perfect is your extra hungry. Today I went with the eggs Benedict which is consistently good. Would recommend this place to anyone, no matter the hour. Their breakfast is what's truly best in my opinion

Regular breakfast-brunch spot. Consistently good, fast and friendly service. Love this spot.

The service was great. I had a tuna melt and chocolate shake. The melt was great but pricey at $17. The shake tasted like chocolate milk (like they mixed Hershey syrup with milk than use ice cream.

    "Sirloin Steak"

We ordered the steak and they said this was the way they serve it. But the truth is this is not a sirloin steak. This looks more like ground beef and it's not even cooked right. Tried to eat around it but it was not sitting well. The omeletes we had were good. The French toast was okay, it was more toasted bread since the egg/milk mixture was light as if they ran out.

First time here. There is no actual "river view" but that didn't bother me. The atmosphere is nice and the restaurant is clean. I would say -- an upscale diner -- as opposed to a typical NJ greasy spoon kind of place. Service was great, fast and friendly. I had the London Broil dinner special and it was very good. French Onion Soup was ok but nothing special. I prefer when the cheese is melted and charred a bit ... not just melted. Also, I'm not sure what kind of cheese they used, maybe provolone. I prefer swiss and/or gruyere. Anyway, their French Onion was just okay. My baked potato was not good, to be honest. It was more like a reheated baked potato, that had never been fully cooked. I would definitely go again but next time I would order something different and get fries or mashed potatoes. The sign out front says, "Open 24 Hours" but they told us since Covid hit, they are not open 24 hours anymore. I'm guessing lack of help.

I rarely give middling or low reviews so it pains me a bit to do so, but this place is kind of dirty and the coffee isn't great. The food is totally decent, but I think our experience as a whole was soured by a little cockroach skittering across the side wall and eventually on my seat. This could have been a rare coincidence, but the place inside just seemed kind of grimy in general. Our table was gross when we sat down and had to be thoroughly wiped before we could start eating. My girlfriend and I also both smelled super oily the entire rest of our ride in the car, which I think has to do with the grills being so close and open right next to our seats. Overall, since the food was decent and service was good, I still give 3 stars and qualify that perhaps the roach was just an unlucky coincidence, but we certainly won't be going back again.

I went with a traditional breakfast (eggs, bacon, french fries) and it came with a side of some toast, coffee & juice. I also ordered a round of the french toast to taste since the pictures on their menu looked super appetizing. The food was incredible, everything tasted great and although the fries could have been a tad bit better, it was easy to forget since everything else was so good and our waitress was so attentive/kind. Something about this place just had that "breakfast from home" feeling and would definitely check this spot out if you're in the area!

We have ordered the same items on different visits and somehow ended up paying different prices. The food is already expensive, and unfortunately, the quality and consistency do not justify the cost. What bothered us even more was the MIDGET EGGHEAD owner's behavior. He initially comes across as friendly, but on several occasions he has made disrespectful comments with double meanings, some of them sexual in nature. It became uncomfortable and completely unprofessional. After multiple chances, we've finally decided: never again. If you choose to visit, pay close attention to what you're being charged and how you're being treated. Our experience has taught us that the friendly personality we initially encountered was not what it seemed. And since he thought it was appropriate to make a comment to my wife about "Italian chorizo," he can now take that Italian chorizo and stick it up his.... We won't be back. Good luck to the Patrons that shop at this horrible business.

For starters, they have free 1-hour parking (with validation) right next door which is a huge perk! Second, they're cash only. Third, this is definitely a local spot and despite a slight language barrier, the staff were incredibly warm & friendly. We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This meal was so simple yet so satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out!

The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.

But other moments call for a proper sit-down meal complete with sunset or waterfront views. Perfectly placed on the waterfront with "breathtaking views of NYC" and named after the historic 19th-century estate of New York banking magnate James Gore King, the Highwood is a restaurant, bar, and sports lounge situated at Port Imperial in Weehawken, where my partner and I decided on dinner yesterday. The reservation was easily done via OpenTable. Upon entering as first-timers, we were greeted by the host inside a rustic yet modern wood and metal design with a sophisticated vibe and a unique layout, making it perfect for dinners and watching live sports alike. We were seated on a high bar table in the main room, consisting of a large 10-foot TV wall behind one of the bars. Their crafted menu features a diverse array of dishes, ranging from classic salads, seafood, pizza, and more to balance comfort and creativity. We decided to share the Creamy Spinach which is always a great starter. For our main meal, we opted for the Delmonico and Steak Frites. We washed them down the Jam Slam and Dragon Fruit Spritz. The food was absolutely delicious using fresh ingredients. Every dish was prepared with great flavor and quality. The portions were satisfying, and everything came out well-paced, which added to the overall experience. The staff was fantastic, very friendly, and accommodating, especially our server, Taylor. This establishment remains a sought-after destination for locals and visitors alike.
