If you think this is a regular cafe only open for brunch. You are wrong! They open on Friday and Saturday with an amazing Lebanese cuisine. We chose an outdoor seating with beautiful flowers surrounded the patio area. We've ordered Mezza Platter, Crispy Halloumi Balls, Lamb Kafka, Homemade Shawarma, Lebanese Grilled Chicken, Bouza Ashta, & Pistachio Baklava & Ice cream. It was so good that we devour the food so quick before I can take any pix. All dishes are amazing especially the Lebanese Grilled Chicken is so juicy and tender. You have to order a main that comes with their in-house rice. I can't explain how good it is but I can have it every day!! I highly recommend Bouza Ashta as dessert. It has a very unique and refreshing summery taste. The server is very professional, making your experience at this cafe like a 5 star hotel meal.

A great place to grab breakfast / brunch! I encourage making reservations ahead of time. For our entrees we had the Nutella crepes, zatar manoosh, salad, eggs Benedict, avocado toast and pancakes. Everything was pretty delicious! I can't wait to come back to try other things from the menu. Also the servers are amazing and go above and beyond to make it an enjoyable dining experience!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had brunch on Saturday with a reservation and the restaurant was very quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered Lebanese coffee but it was too strong and end up ordering a mint tea. The tabbouleh salad came out quickly but it had too much lemon juice and not enough tomatoes and couscous. Our steak and eggs came out more than 30 minutes later due to a catering order being fulfilled. It would have been nice they fulfilled our order first. I would like to try other place for a brunch when in the area next time.

I'm surprised how I have never reviewed my favorite breakfast place yet on yelp! I'm a regular here and always have the same order ( I should explore more but I'm so addicted to what I love). Pear and pecan pancake along with avocado toast with salmon. Great presentation and mind blowing flavours. Highly recommend these two to everyone. Recently they started with dinner as well over the weekend and obviously I was all in to try. Mr.had the delicious Lebanese grilled Chicken and i tried the softest roasted branzino. I have to specially mention how tender and well marinated the chicken was. Definitely going back again and again !!

I really loved this place! I can see why it is one of the top rated spots to eat in North Jersey. Prior to dining here we didn't even realize that it was top ranked on Yelp. It didn't take us long to understand why this restaurant is so well coveted though - the crispy pita bread seasoned with oil & sesame to start surely sealed the deal. Loved the mushroom soup special, it was vegan and had all the great umami/ mushroom flavors one craves in a mushroom soup. I would absolutely recommend it, especially if you are a mushroom fan like I am. We had to try the blueberry Mascarpone French toast after hearing all the rave reviews about it, and we were so glad we did - the blueberry and mascarpone paired so well together and the French toast was perfectly sweet! Do not skip out. Pro tip, get it to share with the table like we did so you don't have a sweetness overload. I enjoyed the crispy falafel as well as their tahini sauce. The zaatar manakeesh was absolutely delicious. The bold and fresh flavors were bursting. My one qualm was that it was supposed to be served with labneh but my dish wasn't. Regardless, it was still tasty without it, but I was looking forward to trying some of the labne at Madison. Although I'm sure if I asked for some, they would gladly provide some on the side. I hope to try it next time! Overall this is a very cute place to dine, with delicious food & pretty decorations inside the restaurant. Additionally, the staff is very kind, well-trained, and professional at this restaurant! Do yourself a favor & try this restaurant! I cannot wait to return when I am back in Edgewater!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is perfect to take the family out on a rainy/sunny day out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiters were so kind and funny and attentive. The food was perfect, eggs Benedict is a must have! Their home fries were perfect, savory & soft. Couldn't have made a better decision coming here

It was a beautiful Saturday morning (finally) and decided to try Madison for the first time. We loved the outdoor space. Everyone was accommodating and the server was extra attentive. Freddy, the manager was so funny and exceptionally polite. The food was very good. Although we were there for brunch, I want to come back to try the dinner. Excited to find out it was BYOB as well.

3.5. A really lovely little place in Edgewater for brunch and lunch. We came at the last minute for breakfast. We were quickly greeted and sat outside. They have a lovely patio. Service was impeccable. The food was good. I'd give it a 3.5 stars for what we ordered. There may be other dishes that are better, or they may have been having an off day. I ordered the, blueberry mascarpone French toast and my husband ordered something with lobster. He liked his. For me, the presentation was beautiful, everything was fresh, but the flavor was really lacking unfortunately. I think we'd return, try some different dishes. I would also try for lunch.

First time for dinner and it was delicious in every aspect from start to finish. Freddy, our waiter was very gracious and outstanding. We've had brunch/lunch on other occasions and that too is very good. Their menu is very extensive with many options. We will definitely return again for dinner.

Drinks were also delicious. We ended up ordering each other's favorite drink. Mine ended up being the Mediterranean C vs the Once Upon a Time. Overall, highly recommend! Rather than immediately posting a public review, I contacted management privately because I believed they deserved the opportunity to address the situation professionaly. Their initial response was that they would review the incident internally. After I followed up, they specifically offered to send me a complete ingredient list for everything we ordered so I could review it with my healthcare provider. I accepted that offer but, the ingredient list was never sent. Months later, there has still been no meaningful follow-up. My frustration isn't about demanding compensation or proving what caused the reaction. It's about customer care and accountability. Making promises that are never fulfilled leaves the impression that guest concerns only matter until the bill is paid. Once our $471 tab was settled, the commitment to help simply disappeared. The food and atmosphere may attract people, but how a restaurant responds when something goes wrong is what defines its hospitality. Unfortunately, based on my experience, the follow-through did not match the promises made, and I can't recommend a restaurant that handled a serious guest safety concern this way. Its NYC, 1000s of restaurants will charge less serve higher quality ingredients and treat you with greater hospitality, and this place is located in midtown east.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.

My most recent visit this month changed all that. I went with my son because we were in town. As it was the first place we knew we wanted to eat, I made a reservation well in advance and we showed up on time. It was noisier than usual and pretty hectic. We ordered a few appetizers and meals and a drink. No one ever checked in on us or refilled our water. I flagged someone down for to go containers as we wanted to save room for dessert and a second drink. They brought the containers and then we proceeded to sit again with no one checking in. We had been there for approximately 40-45 minutes total and were still waiting on someone to come back with the dessert menu when the host came to our table and said "there's a party with a reservation who needs tho is table so could you please leave soon?" Never has this happened to me. How insulting. When I expressed confusion stating we hadn't even received a check so why would we leave, rather than offer a proper apology and/or a "can we get you anything else?" She just said "oh that's not what I was told." And then a server brought us a check. I asked him if 45 minutes was the usual amount of time they give customers with dinner reservations and he said "I'm not sure. We're just really busy and probably overbooked." Again, no offer to make it right. Initially I wasn't going to leave this review. I reached out directly to the restaurant via email to tell them about the humiliating experience of being asked to leave when we weren't even done. Instead of offering to make it right (anything would have been appreciated - a dessert on the house next time - just some token indicating they valued me as a customer) they just explained that there was confusion and that they've talked to their staff so it doesn't happen to anyone in the future. Both the experience and the response put a horrible taste in my mouth and sadly I will probably not be back.

Great for groups of all sizes, reservations suggested but on this weekday visit, it was not too busy. We had a resy any way. Service was fair. Our waiter checked in with us once after we ordered and we had to beckon him twice - once for water refill and second for condiments/questions. What I didn't appreciate but understood, since we were two people dining, we got a corner table for two. It was not busy so we asked for the table next to us since we ordered plenty. They did not accommodate us saying they may need it for later. I did not think that was necessary since the place was not busy. This was 6pm on a Wednesday. And to boot, huge dining room - plenty of seating available. This was off putting as we said we ordered plenty. Our plates barely fit and they brought everything almost at once. Onto the food, I may not have ordered their popular dishes but nevertheless, nothing to rave about. Portions were shareable but it was just okay. There was not one stand out dish. I had higher expectations based on other reviews and photos but it was likely what we ordered. This was a vegetarian meal for me since I was dining with a vegetarian. - Moussakaa, this was a very tomato based sauce dish. Fried eggplant and chick peas combined had a nice texture. Mild flavors. - Arayess cheese - sorely disappointed. Very little flavor and I love my cheeses. It needed something to make it more appealing. It literally looked like cheese in a pita. And yes, by description it was. No condiments or side of anything to offset the plating. Visually flat. It could've used a sun dried tomato paste or some acidic side dipping sauce. - Yara Fries - shockingly simple, zaatar and spices. But they didn't put enough. It still looked like regular fries. And by the name, I expected more punch of flavor. It was not there. - Falafel - tricky dish if it's not cooked well. Simple again by name but the ingredients were just mild in flavor. Crunch was perfect. The chickpea, onions, cilantro and garlic was not pronounced. It was ok. Not memorable. - House wine, by the glass, decent and went well with what we ate. Would I return is the question... Likely not. The menu was so promising but nothing to bring me back.

There is also an outdoor dining area, as well as a mid-sized dining room and we were seated near the window. Sawa serves Lebanese cuisine with some more modern dishes. Additionally, they have a mostly Lebanese wine list, which gave us an opportunity to try some new wines. We ordered both a red and a white for the table, and I was especially drawn to the red, as the red was served chilled, light-bodied, and very enjoyable. Nearly all of the reds and whites on the menu are from Lebanon, with just one red from Morocco, plus a couple sparkling options from Lebanon as well. We started with several dips for the table: hummus, baba ghannouj, and muhammara. The hummus was incredibly smooth, and the muhammara was especially flavorful with large pieces of walnut throughout. Everyone at the table receives fresh pita, and we ended up ordering a few more to share. We also shared the Brussels sprouts and the snap peas. The Brussels sprouts were rich and flavorful, but the snap peas really stood out. They were unlike anything I have tasted before, intensely mint, served with garlic mint labneh, and very delicious. For mains, we focused on lamb: two orders of the lamb ribs, two orders of the kafta, and two orders of the sfeeha. We probably over-ordered by about one entrée, but otherwise it was the right amount of food for six people. The lamb ribs were phenomenal, fall-off-the-bone tender and packed with flavor. The lamb pies were also very good and came with a delicious dipping sauce. The kafta was good, though not quite as memorable as the other lamb dishes, but still very satisfying. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite the number of dishes on the table, the staff handled everything smoothly. The table got a little crowded at times, but it was manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sawa, especially for anyone who enjoys trying something a little different. They do classic Lebanese dishes very well, while also offering some creative dishes that feel unique and memorable. I am already looking forward to going back.

This way, anyone who disagrees with me is really disagreeing with Big Tony. It's a great way to grab the head-turning polarization of a hot take, but without any of the personal responsibility. A way to say something controversial without saying anything at all. A genius chess move to be sure, but complete and utter RAT behavior. I say this, my dear reader, as a reformed rat. All this to say, I recently moved to the UES and have been desperately trying to prove Big Tony wrong. One of my big bros recommended Chamoun's way, saying it's one of his favorite takeout spots in the city. I've been desperate for a decent, non-slop bowl takeout restaurant up here so I went the next day. I walked into a clean hole in the wall, and was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of choices on the menu, but ended up going with the Chamoun's healthy bowl ($14.99) and some grape leaves. After 1 bite my faith in the good lord, and in the Upper East Side, were restored. The chicken and rice were both phenomenal, but the veggies were really what showed out. The turnip pickles and jalapeno peppers were clearly fresh, which leads me to believe everything coming out of here is fresh. It felt like I was eating the home cooked meal of someone's Lebanese granny. The grape leaves were also clearly just wrapped, as the rice inside was warm with the leaf being room temp. You gotta respect this attention to detail. I've already been back a few times since, and it is my new goto takeout spot in all of NYC. I'll probably get it again tonight. Such an amazing place for a quick bite at lunch time!…read more My wife works at MSK and I work from home nearby, so we always meet here for lunch. She always gets a falafel wrap, "their way", and I always get the beef shawarma rice bowl with extra garlic dip. The food is ok. It doesn't blow you away, but it is authentic Lebanese. That being said, I don't even care what the food tastes like because the servers are SO nice! When I bring my kids, they always leave with some free french fries. If I show up after the lunch rush, the owner is always around and asks me how I'm doing. When I get up after eating and start cleaning my table, the owner always just shows up behind me and amicably tells me to leave, and he will clean the table himself. You will always be greeted with a smile here, treated respectfully, and leave well-nourished. I wish nothing but success for this place!

The two times I've been in, they've brought out samples of thier menu items to try. I've ordered various things on the menu: hummus, lebneh, falafel wraps, falafel platters, baked kibbe platters, the green bean side, etc. All have been amongst the best Lebanese food I've tried. I want to expand and try more things, like the chicken and beef kafta. If you have questions just ask. Certain platters come with different items. Some rice, some salad, etc. Thier pita is fresh and delicious, and comes in different sizes. They have a decent sized dining area for dine-in, and the take-out area is right as you walk in the side door. Here you will also find a grocery area with Lebanese essentials. The selection is sizable, and offers items you won't find in a regular grocery store. I stocked up on spices, and coffee. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. I will return every opportunity I get.
