Very good food, nice services , and can bring your own drink, wine or liquor, whatever you need to drink

This was my first time dining at Aura. The drinks were really good and the bartender made me a delicious drink based on what I was craving. For appetizers we got the fried mozzarella and the meatballs. I wish the mozzarella sticks had more marinara sauce but they were good. The meatballs were extremely dry and I did not like it. I really wanted a burger but a couple items on the menu they ran out of. I ended up getting the steak with mashed potatoes. It was very delicious and I loved the pesto risotto that came on the side. read more

This place has great potential! Fantastic ambiance, excellent service, great music (fun and not too loud), and delicious food! I'll go into detail: FOOD: I ordered fish with potato and roasted cauliflower. It was so delicious and seasoned perfectly with fresh herbs - so much flavor! And the fish was cooked perfectly with a nice crispness to the outside and tender flakiness on the inside. My only complaint was that it was way too small a portion, more like an appetizer size, and I was hungry! I let the waitress know (they're a new place and have room for improvement), and requested more of the sides, and she brought me a bowl of the roasted cauliflower which was perfect! I appreciated that. DRINKS: I didn't have a drink but the cocktail list looked fantastic! Really fun yummy combinations - I need to try one next time. DESSERTS: Yum! I'm a dessert snob, and these were excellent! I absolutely loved the orange cake (wow, amazing texture!) and the baklava cheesecake was great. However it should be called baklava with whipped cream as it wasn't cheesecake! So I was disappointed not getting cheesecake, but it was delicious for what it was. Had one of the worst experiences in recent times. Went with a couple of friends yesterday, and one of them had had a great experience here before, so we thought it would be good to try. Unfortunately, we had a completely opposite reaction. The ambience was good, and the Music they played was popping, if a little loud. And the positives end here. The table we were seated at was very wobbly, and they were not able to fix it. Even though there was an empty table (same seating) right next to us, they refused to switch us over. Only after requesting multiple times did they eventually agree to move us. Service was extremely slow. 30+ mins for Drinks and 40+ mins for Food. Most of the items on their Website Menu were not available (we were given a different Menu with way smaller selection). Drink options especially sucked for us since most Cocktails were Smoky flavored. All the items (Salmon, Lobster & Shrimp, Beef) were overcooked. I could barely cut into my lobster and ended up sending it back, but they still charged me for that. When we talked with the Manager regarding this, he wasn't the least bit apologetic and instead tried convincing me to order something else, and took the item off my Check only after a long discussion. Wow, when I got invited to this adorable tapas spot I knew I just had to go! It is beautiful inside reminds me of an old speakeasy dark and amazing decor. I'm a sucker for any good drink that's a photo op, so I had to have the aura martini. It was so cute came with a bubble, so magical, my friend ordered the Tokyo mule which she said was very good and strong. We started with the Arancini, and gambas, One of my favorite dishes I love anything with the sauce, I wish I had some nice crusty bread to dip it in! We also had the Thai chili chicken wings which were so saucy and amazing, and some fries to go with it of course. For dinner my friend got the French cut chicken, and I was dying to try the sliders so I had to have some and I'm so glad I did because I did not have to share with her! Overall service was good. The ambience was a okay, they're new so I think they're still trying to figure out the vibe. Food was meh ! The portions are small. Food could've used more seasonings. We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer, to our surprise it was literally one not even two. As for our entrees our plates were bigger than the portions we were served. We didn't have time for dessert but I shouldn't be leaving a restaurant still hungry after an appetizer and entree. Since it has reopened...I have come 5 or 6 times for their Wednesday "Latin Night" 'cause we absolutely love dancing Salsa. We've shared drinks and appetizers and I always order the Aura Spreads appetizer which has different spreads (hummus, olive tapenade and eggplant) along with sliced french bread and pita. We've also had their herb polenta...delicious! Their chef is wonderfully creative and service is always fast and friendly. Friday nights are always a lot of fun. They get a really nice crowd and there's lots of dancing there starting around 8pm. So if you're in the Hackensack area...don't overlook this gem. My husband and I came for dinner last Saturday night and sat at the bar. So nice to see Johnny again! Ed was our bartender and he was super friendly and gave us great suggestions for the menu. We ordered one of the tequila drinks infused with dragonfruit and it was really good. Perfect amount of ingredients. For appetizers we shared pork meatballs which were cooked perfect and the marinara sauce served with it had the perfect amount of sweetness. We also shared the burrata salad which was a nice portion for two people. For dinner I had the hangar steak which was flavorful and came with a really good risotto that had a nice amount of garlic in it. My husband had the veal Milanese and said it was cooked nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Been here a couple of times for a drink- and the drinks are pretty good (and expensive), but the pours and strength of the drinks are definitely there! Unfortunately they do not really have vegan options (besides salad, potentially fries & cauliflower bites), so I'd only go here for the drinks. I recently came across this spot and finally decided to try it last night. Even though it was late on a Tuesday and the place was pretty empty the vibe was pretty cozy and lively. I recommend for a date for sure. Drinks were delicious and definitely packed an unnoticeable punch. We ordered off the menu loaded fries that were super tasty. The service was fantastic, our server was very attentive and friendly. The decor is very well thought out and creates the perfect ambiance. Parking was super easy as there's plenty of street parking around, and again it was late on a weekday. This is a great addition to the area and I can't wait to return. read more

Unbelievable incident at Aura tonight! They have this drink on the menu called a "Vai Tai". They wrote about "chocolate"and "almond flavors" in their description, but what I got was a sour Tom Collins. Not being what I expected, I asked the waitress to have the bartender make a Mai Tai. She brought back the same sour drink, in the same glass, with the same cluster of mint leaves from the bartender, and said this was my new Mai Tai. Wanting a sweet drink, I asked the waitress and switched again, but this time the bartender refused to serve me according to the maitre de and the waitress (!!??), all while eating with four guests at this new restaurant, for our first time. A real classless act. Nonetheless, not wanted to have to get into it, I smiled graciously, paid the $373.00 dinner bill (plus adding 20% for the food because it was not the waitress's fault) and came home to advise the public that you'd better not cross the bartender, or maybe the chef for that matter, because they'll let you know who's boss and make it personal. Pheewww!!! (Additionally, the knives for their "specialty" lamb chops should come with the sharp black handles, not butter knives; all the entrees should be served at once and not leaving some people waiting to eat until everyone's served; and the wait time for appetizers was extraordinary ... especially when they dictate when/if you get a bartender's panties in a bunch for calling out ineptness. Pitiful entry into a serious business with overpriced skittles. Finally, I hope Mona responds to this post w any thoughts as she has done with the posts she likes. read more

We went for Mother's day brunch. Its a nice looking place but that is it! They need a better kitchen staff. We waited a very long time for our food. My husband did not enjoy his Hanger steak and eggs. It was not cooked as requested. He had to send it back and it was still not as requested. Steak had no flavor and marinara was too sweet (it shouldn't have had marinara anyway). My daughter's pancakes were too dry. She likes them moist and flaky. Chicken on biscuits was edible but the biscuits were dry and well toasted - not flaky. I will not be going back there. read more
