The decor makes it feel like you're dining in someone's home, which immediately sets a cozy, welcoming tone. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. The vibe was very jovial when we went, with nearly every table enjoying wine [but it's important to note that Salma is BYOB, so don't expect to see alcohol on the menu]. We started with the muhammara, which was absolutely incredible. The pita wasn't anything special, but it didn't matter at all; it was simply a vehicle to get more muhammara into my mouth, which I was more than happy with. For mains, we ordered the filet mignon sandwich, the kafta kabob sandwich, and a side of seasoned fries, and everything was delicious. The lamb didnt come and the chicken was so salty it was inedible the rice that came with it had no flavor. The garlic sauce was chunky and very salty too. Just left very disappointed. My partner and I ordered the hummus, falafel sandwich, and lamb shawarma platter. The hummus was too thin and topped extra oil which did not seem like quality oil. The pita was super thin and while that may be a preference rather than an issue, just figured I'd put it out there. The falafel balls were very good flavor wise but the sandwich was on the small side. Not much fresh veggies included. The lamb shawarma was way too oily. I've never had such oily shawarma before (photo of the plate after I took all the lamb off). Based on other pictures it seems that it comes with labneh rather than the sauce I received and yellow rice (I got white rice). It also looks like it comes with more veggies than I received. Had a wonderful experience here and I'm actually surprised it's not busier than it is. My husband and I shared everything for this visit. Started out with Tabbouleh and eggplant dip, then lentil soup, then lamb kebabs. To drink we had the mint lemonade which came out as a chunky iced slushy. Although really good if they could figure out to get that ice blended better it would have been perfect. It was all fresh and flavorful. If I were to not order one item it would have been the lentil soup. This came puréed. Mild in flavor. Personally I would have blended half the batch and left the other half of it with whole lentils to add texture. Pita came out nice and hot. Interestingly it crisped up once it was cold. What a lovely Lebanese spot! We went for Valentine's Day and the ambiance was perfect for that. They had a set menu option for Valentine's Day which we went for. The option was quite expansive and included diverse appetizers, a choice of the main, and a dessert. We went with the mixed dips, vine leaves, kibbeh, and cheese rolls for the appetizer. For the main, we got the mixed grill with the fries, and for dessert, we had the knafeh with the kaak. The meal was delicious, specially the kibbeh and mixed grill. I just one of the best Kebab wraps I've ever had Ordered the Shish Tawouk (chicken breast cubes) wrap and it was amazing! The spices are right on, and the extras, including fries to my surprise, worked perfectly. I used to think adding fries to a wrap was a gimmick, but it can clearly be done right. Dropped by on a Saturday with a friend around 7pm for my birthday. It was fairly packed but we were able to snag an outdoor table - good thing it was a nice day out! I got the kafta kebab platter which came with three gigantic pieces of meet on some pita, a grilled tomato, white sauce (tzatziki?), and a bowl of yellow rice. The kafta kebab was so flavorful and delicious! They definitely give you more than enough, though I wish they gave a bit more rice to eat with it. The sauce is also a must to eat it with! Delicious Lebanese food in the East Village. The restaurant is small inside and the decor is basic, but the service and food are excellent. The portions are generous (we took food home with us!) and my husband who grew up in the Middle East praised the authentic flavors. Came here to solo treat myself because I really wanted a biajeen and muhummara. Everything was delightful! The staff is super nice, even if they were confused by my order . The food was everything. I need to try another mixture of things that compliment each other better to my liking. Friends suggested stopping by this place on a Sunday afternoon. I admittedly am not a huge Mediterranean food fan, but others in the group wanted to try so I thought, why not? One of the people in our party wanted to order a side of fries but the owner proposed some sort of alternative where the rest of us somehow lost our fries and yet the other person was still charged for the extra order of fries. I guess we were substituted rice instead? It was all pretty confusing. The bill also came out to be much more than what was on the menu, which seems to be a common occurrence based on other reviews I've read. We ordered hummus/ Kebbeh / mixed grill platter and Everything was delicious. The waiter and the owner checked up on us to make sure we are enjoying our food. He gave us tips on how to eat the mix grill platter. You don't eat the rice with the meat. First you eat the rice then you put a slice of meat of the pita bread with the sauce and eat it. That's the traditional way of eating it. Everything was delicious and I would come back again! Tips : if you're ordering lamb order it rare as how the owner recommend it. My mom and I had lunch today at Salma. We were so excited about to eat here because we were hungry. We started with the hummus appetizer. We both got one each because we love hummus. I hate leaving a low review on a fellow Lebanese restaurant--truly, but my experience was so negative. I made a reservation for 3 and they sat us at a table top for 2. I told the employee "Oh no, sorry we are a party of 3-I made a reservation." She said she didn't have a table available at this time. Directly to the right of us was an empty 4 top. She said that that table is for a reservation that's coming later. I was confused because I too was a reservation and I was there on time, also a two top simply does not fit 3 people. In no world does this make sense. After going back and forth for a bit, we take a seat and squeeze on the two top. I ask the server where our food will go, because our 3 glasses of water, the salt and pepper shaker, and our 3 side plates already crowded our table--she said she will "figure it out." The food gets delivered and the food runner comes to set it down, sees there is no where to put anything, and then leaves. After seeing the two women chatting with each other on the side, the original woman came back and said "Okay fine, we will add a piece of this four top to your table but if our reservation comes, we will have to take it back." WHAT?? That is absolutely absurd. I know it is a small restaurant, but I made a reservation! It was so bizarre. The food was delicious, but this whole experience was extremely off putting, and oddly enough they didn't even seem apologetic. Because of that, I will not be coming back to Salma. read more

With that, it definitely built up the expectation of amazing food to go with the service. Unfortunately they didn't match up. The QR scan menu was easy to scroll through with lots of pictures. We wanted to share some light plates since it was already pretty late in the evening. We ordered fattoush salad, moutabal eggplant and falafel sandwich. It all came out pretty quick with a side of pita bread. - salad was overdressed with strong vinegar dressing overwhelming the taste of the vegetables. It unsuccessfully tried to mask old soggy cucumber slices and hard cardboard-like tomato. We didn't finish it - eggplant had an interesting taste to it. At first I liked it but then it started to feel like fake smoke or meat grease mix that gave that aftertaste - falafel sandwich was dry with a stale deli pita around it.
