Came here on a Saturday with a group of 5. we were sat promptly. The table setting and the interior was very chic and modern. We got the Ubani salad, Adjaruli Khachapuri, the dumplings, lamb stew, and the honey cake to share. My friends also ordered Georgian lemonade both in grape and in tarragon flavors. The salad was refreshing with a massive barrata. The khachapuri was so good. The staff mixed it for us and taught us how to eat it. The cheese and the spinach filling was flavorful but not greasy or dense. The lamb stew was also delicious. The dumplings are fun to eat - they're like massive soup dumplings with a handle to grab onto. The honey cake is a must try! It's dense, chewy yet crunchy. It's also not super sweet. Overall it's an amazing experience exploring this new cuisine and would love to come back.

Cute Georgian restaurant in the West Village. Ubani has a few locations now but I really liked the vibes of this location. The restaurant feels warm and makes for a good date spot. We had the eggplant rolls, the khachapuri and the beef khinkali. It was all pretty solid, and the broth in the khinkali was delicious.

My Georgian friend brought me here and we had an excellent meal from start to finish. First of all, this is my Georgian friend's favorite Georgian restaurant in the entirety of NYC so of course I had to let him take the lead in ordering. The chef clearly pours his heart and soul as well as his artful expertise into crafting his dishes, and honors authentic Georgian flavors while delivering it in a way that makes you feel taken care of. Authentic Georgian cream soda was delicious, and a cultural experience. The platter of different dips with Georgian bread was delicious - a mix of eggplant, cheese, dips made from beets and other fresh ingredients. and the special khachapuri variant with kidney beans and cheese. All delicious, and an experience to remember. The wine was also delicious and so well curated. Would highly recommend coming here. If you're unfamiliar with Georgian cuisine, or you're wanting to experience some of the best Georgian NYC has to offer, you MUST come here!

I've never had Georgian food before and this was such a wonderful introduction to all the different flavors, spices and types of dishes. We came with a group of 8 at 6:45 on a Tues night with reservations which we're glad we did because the restaurant quickly filled up. To drink I love wine so I wanted to try some Georgian wine. Unfortunately I tried their amber (more funky and fermented flavor), their white and their red and didn't enjoy any. Very dry overall without any specific nuances of flavors. So I ended up getting their Georgian lager which was delicious! For food we got sooo much. We ordered the Georgian traditional salad, the eggplant rolls, Mkhali Trio (beet, pumpkin and spinach flavors), Adjaruli Khachapuri (bread boat with cheese, egg and butter), kupati (Georgian style sausage), chicken in pomegranate sauce, Chanakhi (lamb stew), cauliflower with walnut sauce and khinkali (lamb and a beef and pork - essentially Georgian version of soup dumplings). Standouts for me were: - traditional salad (creamy texture from the walnut paste, vinegar and oil and really unique flavor and textures but refreshing as well) - eggplant rolls (had a walnut fenugreek garlic paste that was interesting and well cooked eggplant) - chicken with pomegranate sauce (well cooked chicken and the homemade sauce was not too sweet) - Adjaruli Khachapuri (who doesn't like cheese, eggs and butter? Very savory and rich. Definitely good to share. The cheese almost had a feta like taste and texture to me) All that being said, every dish was so good and I was happy we ordered all of them. Service was very friendly. The appetizers came out really fast and the mains came out much slower with the chicken coming out last when we had finished most of the other dishes. We were so happy full by the end!

WOW, absolutely delicious meal! I have never had Georgian food but I will definitely be coming back to try more of their menu. My friend and I got the kachapuri to start with and that already left me in shock and a food coma because it was just perfect. And then we had the lamb stew where the lamb was cooked to absolute perfection! The restaurant itself is a bit small so I recommend making a reservation in advance (yes, even on a weeknight) but it's very cozy inside. The service was well paced and the waiters were very nice and our water was always checked up on and filled, which I always appreciate. Can't wait to go again!

I've recently been obsessed with trying every Georgian place in the city and this place did not fail to impress. We got the khinkali (beef and pork), kachapuri, ajapsandali, and chashushuli (beef stew). My favorite was the beef stew, which was full of flavor and was extremely tender. Khinkali were so huge and full of juicy broth! The kachapuri is a staple to get. Most of the dishes were large, making this place good for sharing with friends and eating family style!

The service was timely and professional. It's such a cozy spot nice for group gatherings or dates. We tried the Beef Chakandrili which was very good--flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Cauliflower with Walnut Sauce was delicious, highly recommend it. Don't skip the Imeruli Khachapuri, it's a must-have! We also enjoyed the Ubani Salad and Eggplant Rolls, both were so fresh and the sauce was perfect. Lastly you have to try the dumplings! Definitely will be returning!

Great place, great staff, great service, great food, great wines. Can't say enough good things. From the food to the many glasses of wines, this place didn't really miss the mark at any point. Highly recommend the classic khachapuri as well as the honey cake. If you find yourself here, give the amber wines a try. No matter if you prefer red or white normally, they'll have an amber for you.

Maci was our server and he was awesome!! We love this place!!! The food is perfect. We will definitely come back. Also the place was clean, cozy and inviting!

TLDR: a bit pricey for the quality and quantity of food. The restaurant was open late and accommodating but the food was not wowing. The cheese boat was tasty and done well but some of the appetizers were quite dry.

Came here after dinner for some dessert as honey cake is quite hard to find in the west coast. This honey cake flavor was on point! The last two layers were a bit dry and the service took forever even though there were only 4 groups at the restaurant. That's my main complaint that they could've been more attentive but I enjoyed the honey cake and I'd come back if I was ever craving Georgian food. Honest rating is 4/5

    Josephine L.

Under-the-radar Georgian spot with lovely minimalist decor that somehow avoided the restaurant price mark-up of both the NYC Georgian cuisine boom and the pandemic. That alone should warrant four stars! But also, the food is quite good. The Lobiani is huge, cheesy, carby, and beany--absolutely delicious. The Adjaruli Khachapuri was a tad salty, but otherwise perfectly done. The Chanakhi was a perfect stew, while the beef and lamb Khinkali were both bursting with broth and flavor. I made the mistake of getting the Honey Cake for the table, and remembered one bite in that I don't actually like Georgian honey cake that much (too dry)--but Ubani says theirs is made in-house, so that's something, right? Drink-wise, there's plenty of that Georgian amber wine to choose from at affordable prices of $14-16 per glass.

Unfortunately, we were a group of three, so we were seated a little awkwardly by the live music corner away from the rest of the dining room, though it didn't cause too many interruptions in our conversation. We were all intrigued by the Georgian lemonade option on the drink menu. They were more like flavored sodas. I had the cream, which tasted exactly like vanilla cream soda. I tried my friends' pear and tarragon, and would get the tarragon next time as it was nice and herbal to complement the cheesy heavy dishes to follow. We started with the beet salad with goat cheese, which came with a raspberry sauce. I sometimes find it off putting if the beet is too earthy and bitter, but the beets were done well, flavorful without being too strong. The salad was really refreshing and much needed to pair with our khachapuri, which we ordered with spinach and special smoked cheese. The presentation was fun, a little funny because the wait staff kept accidentally spinning the whole plate in their effort to mix everything in. I love cheese and bread, so this was a true highlight. For main, we had the megrhuli karcho, which was stewed beef in a walnut sauce served with Georgian grits cake. The beef was tender but honestly all of the starters stole the show and the walnut sauce wasn't that flavorful. I did like the gritty texture of the walnut sauce against slightly packed gritty texture of the grits cake, but my friend found it mushy and boring. If I go back, I would load up on the khachapuri and the salad.

When I got to the Williamsburg location and observed the door locked, lights off, and the interior like nobody was there (with no indication there would be no one coming), I was crestfallen. This restaurant defined popular Georgian food. It is one of the reasons I make a trek out to a neighborhood that I would not otherwise dare set foot in for more than an extended period of time. When I observed they also have a Manhattan location, I figured, okay, try them out, what the hell, maybe it will be fine. Three subway lines later (okay, I could have done it in two), and here is the result. Firstly, the service is amazing. The entire wait staff is warm, welcoming, intelligent, and passionate about what is served out of their kitchen. Liza may not be working here (or at least was not there during the time I was here), but the service is still first rate. Secondly, the interior space is more intimate than the Williamsburg location. It feels more Manhattan-y than Williamsburg-y, if that makes sense. Now that I got the non-food stuff out of the way, here comes the part you came for, the meal. I ordered five things here. You will see why later, it will make sense to you by the end. Khachapuri: My new favorite snack is a must at any Georgian restaurant. To say this is a calzone or a stromboli is being condescending to this lovely cheeseboat (had to do it). It is a little on the small side, but the cheese and texture is beautiful and I never once had to pick up a fork to eat it. Your server will even mix everything for you if you ask. Grade: A- Khinkali: Six to an order, just like at the Williamsburg location, they are tasty, but it is looser. They fall apart too quickly upon that first nibble. I know not to eat the knot, because when my server took my plate away after I was done eating them, he smiled wryly at me, knowing I did it right. Grade: B Chakapuli: Probably the weakest thing I ordered, the lamb is tasty, but also super fatty and super tender. I deliberately did not eat the sauce and some of the other bits because of the richness and the onions that were at the bottom of the dish. The fact it comes with two nice pieces of bread helps mitigate things, but I played it smart by just taking the big stuff and using the bread as a binder. Grade: B- Kharcho: A staple at any Georgian restaurant, this is essentially Lagman soup, but they use rice instead of noodles as their carb weapon of choice. The lamb is beautiful and the broth has a beautiful aroma and fragrance. It also comes with two nice pieces of bread to really soak in more flavor. This balanced out the out of balance Chakapuli. Grade: B+ Georgian White Wine Flight: Yes, I got a flight, four glasses of the restaurant's finest white wines. I had a glass for each of the meals that I ate. Each wine has its own character. My server even gave me a suggestion on how to go about drinking them. I know very little about wine, so I will not go much further than this. However, each wine I tasted, tasted better than the previous one. I do know Georgia is known for its wine, and by the end of the flight, I was starting to see why... maybe. Grade: A- That is not all. I also ordered a Honey Cake for dessert, because I know all too well that honey is the great equalizer in all things savory. This will put it all in its place, like Godzilla restoring the balance in an inhumane world. Honey Cake: One bite told me all I needed to know. It is outstanding. Well balanced, terrific flavor, outstanding texture, ridiculously, out of bounds in terms of how it should look and feel. This dessert may have ruined all things dessert for me for the time being. It is simply the best way to end a meal, and to go out on a high note. Grade: A+ -- Some of you may be saying, why would you do this? Why would you go all the way out here for this? 1.) Because I can, 2.) The experience is largely outstanding, and 3.) It is not always about those two, it is the adventure, and eating what I ate here gave me a sense of adventure, from start to finish. Stay classy Cheeseboat, I know you will be just fine until the Williamsburg location reopens, if it ever does. If not, your Manhattan location will do you justice.
