    BBQ Smothered Pepper Jack Chicken
    Michelle L.

Met some ladies here for a late lunch on a Friday. Our server was super cute and informative. I ordered the BBQ Smothered Pepper Jack Chicken. The chicken was crisp and good. I didn't care for the biscuit on the plate (it was dry) or the cheese grits (they were cold). We had a dessert that was very large but not so great. You know I usually love my dessert. I'm glad I got a chance to visit.

I come back to Jacob's Pickles again an again and there are many reasons why. The first: the staff has been incredible every time: so kind, attentive, and welcoming, despite the fact that it's a pretty big restaurant and has been decently busy every time I'm there. Secondly, it's beautiful. I love the classy, modern, warm aesthetic of both the inside and outside dining spaces. Third, the FOOD (duh). The portions here are huge so you're almost always getting two meals in one. This time, we ordered some fried pickles (a classic-$15) with some sriracha mayo (yumm). It's the perfect crunchy, salty bite. Then, I got the original chicken sandwich ($22) which just falls apart in the best way. The chicken was juicy and tender and I left in a food coma.

When I say I am a long time pickle lover and have grown up in the South to know good southern cooking. I want to Marry whoever Jacob is because this is my next brunch staple on New York. The pickles were delicious the biscuits in gravy is better than your grandma's. Don't get me started also on the root beer. My one complaint is that the root beer is $5 a glass but that's okay because it is worth it and I don't need to drink a gallon of root beer. Got in with barely any wait time on a Sunday no less. I would make a reservation next time I go because it was very packed. If you like good food or love pickles this is the place to go. Can't wait to go back

This was my first time visiting Jacob's Pickles. I was very impressed with the experience. I had the Vodka Lemonade for my drink and I ordered the Original Smash Burger with French Fries for my entree. Everything was well prepared and tasted great. I placed an order to go. I got the deviled eggs and street corn. Both were very good! I would definitely visit this restaurant again. I enjoyed everything I ate and drank. The service was great and the restaurant is very nice.

Wow this place was delicious. I had been meaning to try this place for a while and I can see why it is so popular. Firstly, our server started off by letting us know that the portions were big but the were so much bigger than I imagined (definitely not a complaint!) All the food was great! The deviled eggs were delicious, I enjoyed all of the different types of pickles which all had different flavors and were nice and crunchy. The Special Biscuit French Toast was Oreo and very light and not too sweet so the maple syrup was able to take it to another level. The Hot Honey Chicken & Toast had a nice light spice to it so it was very easy to eat. It also went great with the pickle sampler that we started off with. We walked out with a bunch of leftovers and unfortunately not enough room to have dessert. The service was excellent and very helpful. I will definitely be back to try out more items with a bigger party and try dessert as well!

Jacob pickles kles has always been a great place in the UWS, vibes and music was always on point. Love the fried chicken and biscuits from here. Their fried pickles were delicious. The spinach and artichoke dip was not up to par this time I went, the spinach tasted a bit old and can definitely tell it was frozen or left in the fridge too long. Unfortunately, this time zi did get food poisoning, I do not think it was from the dip but maybe from unclean glassware as there was a funky taste to my cup and water. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and definitely patient since we had a kid with us. Overall a good experience and new place is very pretty too!

"Top 5 smash burger in the city?" Went craving BBQ - either brisket or the BBQ Ribs. Unfortunately the brisket couldn't cut with the fat & ribs were unavailable :(( Went with the BBQ Double smash burger Was also happy hour so I got a few $12 drinks also @ the bar. I'm thinking top 5 smash burgers in the city.

Was spending a day with my two girlfriends, when they decided on eating at Jacob's Pickles. They ate there already, and I am surprised I never have since my dad lives only three blocks away from it. I suggested making a reservation, and good thing we did. The place was crowded for a 3pm on a Saturday. We were sat at a table near the windows on the little extension part of the restaurant. I liked that the tables were spaced out, not on top of one another like in other places. The space was really elegantly decorated. We ordered the Fried Pickles ($15) for the table. I ordered a Jam Jar Cocktail ($15) and the Duke Burger ($26). My friends ordered the Original Chicken Sandwich ($22), and Buffalo Mac&Cheese ($23). The food was amazing... like really really amazing. I can't believe I've never been there before, but it will definitely be my go to when I visit my dad.

Loved my return to Jacob's Pickles it was such a nice warm spot to drop in to! I was really happy to go back two years later and have the quality still be upheld! Super enjoyable time! Great tunes and warming lamps! Kind servers!!!

If you're in New York and haven't been to Jacob's Pickles yet, what are you doing!!??? It's southern comfort food done right (I went with some southerners who say it's the best they've had in NYC). The new location is so spacious and the food came out lightning FAST! Seriously within -0 minutes of ordering and it was a little busy on a Sunday. Dishes and drinks we devoured in order of appearance: *Hot Honey Chicken and Toast *Southern BLT *Sweet & Smoky Meatloaf *Drinks: Jam Jar, Rosemary Vodka Lemonade, Austin East Cider The dishes are $25-30 each but they are BIG portions. Lasted me three meals. Will definitely go again

I wanted a quick breakfast before the start of my first day in New York. I stopped in here and I was given a table quickly and the restaurant was clean and the host and waiter were nice. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy. I had to also order the spicy pickles and jalapeños. I really enjoyed my meal. The gravy wasn't too thick and the biscuits were flaky. The pickles and jalapeños were tasty. Spicy but yet sweet. Stop in and have a good breakfast.

Came back again, to their huge new location. Visited only a few weeks after they opened so the were still working out the kinks. The solarium/front part didn't have heat yet so it was a bit uncomfortable. Was told that they were putting in heating the next week. Also, dealing with the sun was a challenge. Should have brought a hat cause it was blinding for a little bit. That being said, the food was delicious as usual. Huge portions still-had a BEC and a friend ordered the fried chicken salad . Said it was good. Staff is very accommodating and nice.

Ask the Community - Jacob's Pickles

I love all of the food there. Exactly what kind of pickles are 'Special sours"? Can they be bought…

I'm not sure what they are. They just might be sours. Their pickles are delicious but I don't think they can be bought on line. Why not check their website?

Are the meatballs beef or are there other meats in them as well?

Ah man I actually don't know. I would assume they are beef

    Do the biscuits contain lard?

    No, they don't.

Are the banana pudding pancakes a permanent addition to the menu? Please say yes! 😂

I think I wrote for the wrong pickle store. The one I was writing about is in Clinton,nj. Sorry

What are the chances of scoring a table for 4 at noon on a friday?

High - they are not too busy during the day

Do they have a Happy Hour?

    Do you have bottomless mimosas?

Hi Anna I'm pretty sure they do not offer that. It's by the drink

    Can my dog join us?

Yes, they have covered, heated outdoor seating that's very nice and your dog is definitely welcome. I saw other dogs in there during my visit.

Is the brunch menu only for weekends? Do you serve food in the morning on weekdays? Where's the non-dinner menu?

I'm 99% sure it is everyday

I have a picky child, is there a kids menu or will see have to be creative with the regular dinner menu?

There is no kids menu. I recommend sharing an item from the menu as the portions are large enough to share.

Do they have heaters for outdoor dining?

    Yes, they do!!! (:

    Is Jacobs pickles dog friendly?

They have outdoor seating, that would be your best bet. Inside it is pretty cramped and not much room for pets.

    What time does brunch end?

    4 PM!

    What are the vegan options?

Most of their pickles, a few of the starters like fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, okra & chiles, and a few of the sides like house fries, house salad, side of fruit.

Is there even one single vegan option? EDIT: besides pickles

All the sides are vegan except for the Collards & Black Eye Peas because that's cooked with pork shoulder; and the biscuits. I'm not sure what the Fried Pickles and the Fried Green Tomatoes are fried in though.

Are the mashed potatoes gluten free?! (Or can be made GF without gravy?)

Hi Ariel, thanks for reaching out! Our mashed potatoes can be made gluten free without the gravy. Hope you’ll be able to join us soon!

    Do they deliver?

    No!

Is brunch still served on weekdays?

    Yes

Can i make reservations for 2 people?

Thanks for your interest in joining us! Although we do not accept reservations for parties less than 6, we do reserve the majority of our dining room for walk in guests. You will receive an estimated wait time when you place your name on the… Read more

    Are there any vegetarian options?

Yes. Although it's overall meat heavy menu, for brunch there is plenty of veggie omelettes, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, all available. Dinner, however would be much more disappointing for a vegetarian as there are very few options.

Huevos Rancheros ($19), and Vegetarian Omelette ($19) which was served with home fries and tossed salad was a good portion. Kimbo Coffee ($4.25) was actually pretty good although would've loved it to be warmer. Refills were slow to come. Food was inline with our expectations. Food arrived within 8-10 mins of placing our order, so yeah, really quick! Our initial server/waiter wasn't that attentive but their crew members were definitely more alert. Let me be clear, the main redeeming aspect of this place is the talent on stage. The musicians were exceptional and deserved far better than the environment surrounding them. I ordered a scotch neat, something I'm very familiar with, and immediately knew something was off. When I politely flagged down a waiter, he responded with visible annoyance, as if I was inconveniencing him by being a paying customer. I explained the issue and simply asked if it could be checked or replaced. Instead of addressing it professionally, he walked away without a word, returned holding the bottle and my glass, and said, "this is what you were poured," before carelessly tossing the drink back onto the table. No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. It escalated from there. When I confronted him about his behavior, he denied it outright and then doubled down with an aggressive, confrontational stance, getting in my face and effectively threatening me. His exact words? "If I tossed your drink on the table, it would have been all over you!", and "Man, shut yo ass!" Completely unprofessional and unacceptable in any setting, let alone an establishment that positions itself as upscale. The manager's response was just as disappointing. Instead of addressing the behavior of his staff, he blamed me, asking why I "chased" the waiter and suggesting I should have gone directly to him. That's not how basic customer service works. I tried to resolve the issue directly, respectfully, and without escalation, something his employee clearly had no interest in. I was thinking if I talk to the waiter first, he wouldn't get in trouble with his manager. To make matters worse, the manager continued to defend the waiter rather than de-escalate the situation. At that point, it was clear this wasn't a one-off issue; it's a reflection of how this place operates. I paid my bill and left. For a venue that attracts world-class jazz talent, it's astonishing how low the standard of service is. This place is doing a disservice to the artists who perform there. I will never return, and I would strongly caution anyone expecting a professional, respectful experience to look elsewhere.
