I've come here a few times but have forgotten to submit a review. Each time I've had the regular latte, they have always been pretty good and consistent. The service was pretty good and friendly, the store is really clean, and has a nice setup. I did take a friend with me once, she got the latte and did not like it, however she is used to drinking instantly coffee and has no real taste for good coffee so im not sure how much weight can be given to her opinion. I have no issues with going there again when im nearby and want some coffee. read more

As it turns out, this coffee shop also does wine tastings! We found out about this through a friend who had a livingsocial deal he had purchased and the event was a pretty good time. I do have to say this is the first time I have been to a wine tasting where the host is dressed in a Broncos jersey. It was very affordable and very approachable. One might almost think too approachable as 3-4 people came into the coffee shop wanting a late night cup of coffee in the middle of the wine tasting. The wine was good, and the samples were very generous. The snacks were general wine tasting fare and complementary. Coffee here rather weak, tastes too much like cocoa, not enough body to it. The over-priced pastry I bought was stale, probably day old? During the morning the music was too LOUD, some customer was constantly shouting, some type of beeping timer alarm kept going off behind counter. Interesting location, not far to the south of downtown. I'm sure this neighborhood has some fancy name, but it escapes me. Lots of art galleries around here. In any event this is a really cool place, its got windows on three sides, a high ceiling, tables and couches. Plus they've got the A/C cranking right now, which is a relief since I was riding by on my bike. I've been meaning to come in for a while now and check it out, as I ride by it once a week. The collection of pretty blondes sitting at the window tables convinced me to finally give it a shot. The guy behind the counter looks like he's coming down from a hard night (or week maybe) of partying, but was nice enough. Got iced tea, so don't know how the coffee is. The internet is pretty good though, and free. Glad I stopped in. I'll have to check back and see if the blondies are regulars... ;^) read more

Almond milk latte was delicious. However, .75 cents extra is ridiculous, bringing 2 lattes to 10$. Especially, if you cannot have regular milk. It also bothered me that they did not offer a to go or to stay option. If you stay you should have a proper mug and not a paper cup. It is very wasteful and not environmentally friendly. If it were not for those 2 things it would have been a much better experience. read more

Update! Metropolis now accepts credit cards! (But they no longer welcome furry four-legged friends, so leave Fido at home). I have yet to find a better dirty soy chai in D-town. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and there are a number of comfy seats to choose from when communing with the ol' laptop. The music and art in here are always just plain good. This is a solid 3 star cafe. The espresso is drinkable but not impressive, the space is cute, the wifi is quick and they have a few decent looking pastries. Be warned that the mochas are made with Hershey's syrup. Overall, I would never go out of my way to come here but it's a decent option if you're in the area. read more

I decided to try this place because of its ratings and I was disappointed. I ordered a tall (12oz) cappuccino and the barista filled the milk up the rim. Caps shouldn't have that much milk and after much thought, I should've ordered a Short (8oz) but does that mean I get one less shot of espresso???? I don't know. I have been coming here the last month for a simple chai tea, ice and hot. Delicuous. I also have had the empanadas and corrisant before I cut gluten out because im allergic. So i have been getting the chia tea. I do wish they served matcha or green tea but I do love the chai and the staff is very friendly. The cold brew was really bitter so I asked for more almond milk. She put it on the counter and when I went to take it to put the milk in my coffee, she said "I'll do it." I literally work in the salon two doors away from the coffee shop and decided I needed a caffeine fix in the middle of the day. I don't drink coffee, but I do drink wine and this coffee shop serves wine! Yay! While waiting for my boyfriend to interview for a job around the corner I hit up this coffee shop to kill some time and read the newspaper. It's a cute little quiet place in downtown Denver. Looks like a yuppie hangout, which I have no problem with. The staff is courteous and the seating is decent, but the wine is great. Great vibe in here, I would recommend Metropolis Coffee as its spacious and well-designed on the inside, has tons of seating and is much better than some coffeehouses in the neighborhood that are just decent. I don't generally get very fancy with my coffee orders, a basic skinny latte, but each time I've tried it at Metropolis I've been super happy with the results. They are located in a great area and under a fancy apartment building, but their house coffee is not very good. Their Chai Tea is what I would recommend. The interior of the shop is really nice and it looks like they serve wine which I always wanted to try but haven't gotten around to. Metropolis Coffee is just okay nothing special. read more

I really enjoy the hot chocolate and the empanadas here. Their bakery selection is always filled with unique and classic bake goods: cookies, muffins, pop tarts, energy bars, breads you name they have it. What I like most is everything baked is sources from different bakeries and companies around Denver or Boulder. The baristas are always super friendly and take pride in their creations. Their coffee comes from Herkimer in Seattle, which is a solid roaster (that being said, if I was going to have coffee shipped in I would have gone with Seattle Coffee Works or Victrola, but I digress). Everything's great about this place! The coffee is excellent. All the baristas I've met seem to enjoy what they do. The atmosphere is quiet yet fun. I am writing this review in Metropolis, but no one can see what I'm typing so I can say what I want. What I want to say is that this is a great place to drink coffee and get some work done. Their coffee is pretty tasty, not the best I've had in Denver, but good. The lattes I've had here are fair to good. The teas are really good here. The best part about it though is the environment. Good temperature inside always. Good lighting. Good furniture for lounging. Lots of plugs. Free wireless. Nice staff. Good music playing. Not too loud. And usually not very crowded. Come here if you want to sip on a cup of something warm and work on stuff. Thumbs up. read more
