This is SOOO Unfair!. Metromover is free of charge while NYC Subway transits have to pay to get where you want to go?? But wait..... only 10 stops available in Downtown Miami. I can walk there within 30 minutes.... LAZY PEOPLE! Nevermind....... I'll take that back. But I can say this..... BEST AIR CONDITIONER IN A PUBLIC TRAIN (and super clean). End of story read more

Metromover...you are a confusing contraption. So, I was accustomed to having to take the metrorail. It has two routes, either North or South. I had never been on the metromover, but I thought it would be more or less the same. WRONG!!! So many routes, and honestly, who knew the Downtown/Brickell area was so big? I mean, when you're in your car it doesn't seem that way. I used the metromover for one week. Everyday I was late to my destination. First, I took the one that went through Bayfront Park when I should've been taking the one that went to the courthouse. Another day, I took the one that went to Brickell, when I should've been going towards the courthouse. You get what I'm saying? Anyway, asking the securities doesn't help either because they kept telling me to take one route and I ended up at another. How many places can it go??? Last day, I opted to take my car and pay for parking. NO MORE!!! Thank God it was only a week! And of course, this is apart from the fact that they are not on time and get stuck at different spots all the time (Yes, I saw that happen during my week on the metromover as well). Oh, the only reason I gave it two stars was because of the view. That's the only thing I liked when I was on it! read more

The best things about the Metromover is that it's free and it gets you around the areas of Brickell and downtown pretty well. This is very helpful in certain areas where it would take you much longer to get to by driving there. Onto the bad. The movers themselves are decent and have a couple of seats but for those standing the ride can be a little rough and you'll find yourself hanging onto anything you can. At times doors don't open properly and there can be delays. It can feel pretty unsafe at times time with the homeless and shady people walking around at anytime. During events it can get really crowded and some groups can be pretty rowdy. I have seen security during these times but honestly sometimes it's not enough. At those points you'd just be better off walking or going elsewhere until it becomes less crowded. The stations the mover stops at vary in quality. Some are well lit while others not so much which makes you feel a little more unsafe. My biggest complaint is that some stations have elevators that smell like urine thanks to the local homeless using them as restrooms. In the end it's still a decent service and being in a slightly crowded air conditioned mover beats walking during those hot humid Miami days. read more

One of the ways I got around Miami was taking the MetroMover everywhere. It's a free, driver-less light rail car that had three loops (Inner Loop around Downtown, Brickell and Omni) with about 20 stations around Miami. And it runs from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight. For the most part, I found it very convenient to take the MetroMover from Brickell into Downtown. And if you got off at the Government Center stop, you can easily transfer to the MetroRail or the MetroBus. read more

Fun FREE transportation around Downtown Miami! The Metromover is a really efficient form of transportation. There is no cost whatsoever...just go to your closest station and hop on. This is completely automated. No driver, no nothing. The doors seem merciless, so don't expect them to operate like elevator doors. There are three loops: inner, Omni, and Brickell. The inner loop stays in downtown, while the Omni reaches into the slightly more northern areas including Museum Park and Adrienne Arsht. The Brickell loop extends into Brickell, ending in the Financial District. Most of the important stops (for me, at least) were either on the Omni or Inner loops. We did ride the Brickell loop just for the view, which was awesome. There are stops approximately every few blocks. It was kind of annoying because I would feel the train would be slow heading out, then speed up juuuuust before it got to the station. I saw the reviews on here claiming that some didn't feel safe. I never rode at night, but in the day everyone minded their own business. Actually, the scariest encounter I had was a screaming kid. Make sure you check the overhead screens in the station to see which train is coming next. Frequently, the Brickell loop and the Omni loop use the same track and trains are not marked. Free transportation is always great, and this one comes with a great view. Whether you ride to get around or just for the view, the Metromover is AWESOME! read more

Free transportation? Yes! Omg this ended up being my best friend to cut down on taxi costs during my stay. Use it to bring you to where you need to be or at least closer to where you need to be. Or use it to bring you to the MetroRail, which at $2 per leg will take you to more places throughout Miami. Runs until midnight! read more

Where would I be without the Metromover? I work downtown, so I use it often. It's convenient, free, and makes my job a lot easier when I have to go all around downtown in a short period of time to run errands for work. The downside? There are lots of homeless people that ride the thing all day because it's free. It used to be like 25 or 50 cents to ride the Metromover, and honestly, I wouldn't mind if they charged for it again. They could set up the machines they have to the Metrorail to buy daily or monthly passes. Because it's free, it gets dirty and tends to smell like urine. When clean, they're great. For a while, they had security that would get on and off to keep creeps and homeless people out, but I haven't seen them lately. I use the Metromover a lot for Heat games. Instead of parking by the arena, I take the inner loop for the metromover to my parking garage by the courthouse. Most people are usually riding the outer loop after the games, and we end up beating tons of traffic. read more

For the few days we stayed in Miami, the Metromover was super convenient and really just a great tool. As an alternative way to travel, the Metromover is great for exploring the Downtown Miami neighborhoods. Having stayed in both Brickell and Downtown Miami, this was awesome for us to get out and explore. Clean, free, cheap, and free wi-fi -- it's really a no-brainer. With 3 main loops (Inner, Omni, Brickell) the Metromover has about 20 stations. With transfer stations located at the Government Center, the Metromover makes it easy to navigate Downtown -- ccombined with the Metrorail there are over 40 stations. With easy-to-read-maps everywhere, I really apprecaite how efficient the Metro System is in Miami, wish we had it back home! read more

Before you take the Metromover, you should download and study the map. There are three different trains, The Omini Train, the Brickell Train and the Downtown Loop Train that run in loops and some of the same tracks but don't stop at the same stations. It's very possible to get stuck on any of these trains, especially the Downtown Train in an infinite loop - which may feel like you are Bill Murray in the movie Groundhog Day. Nevertheless, it is FREE, you don't have to worry about DUIs and you are being Green. So my route from Brickell to the AAA - I take the Finanical District Train to College Bayside Station. Walk back to College Bayside Station, take the Brickell Train going North to return (Not South as you would expect). Note: After an event at the AAA, you can also walk to the Park West Station to return to Brickell but you must take the Omni Train going South and transfer at Government Station or earlier. If you take the Freedom Tower, the train will probably be full when it pulls in and then its like a Japanese subway to board. There are several stations to transfer to the Metro, but I've never done that before. Good luck if you've never taken the Miami Metromover. read more

How can anyone NOT like the MetroMover? It is free and it takes you from the Design District south to Brickell. Yeah, it's slow; but it is no slower than trying to navigate the endless numbers of No-Driving-Em-Effers that are in the area. Couple that with the fact that you don't have to worry about the drunk drivers and you have a winning combo. Couple this with the fact that it connects with the Miami-Dade MetroRail and you have yourself some great transportation. If you have an issue with public transport -- get over it. read more

Still awful. -Takes forever! For "rapid" transit, its anything but. Moves so slow. Pauses inexpicably at stations for long periods of time. Can't round corners fast. Slows almost to a crawl for no reason all throughout the lines. Eternally broken escalators. Homeless people everywhere. Dark and dirty stations. Confusing signage and lines. You should see the tourists with their maps trying to figure this out. Anything but world-class...its a disaster. Its much faster to take your own car. It should be decommissioned and a "high-line park" similiar to New York should be installed. The trolley system should be expanded to where people want to go and the major business centers/attractions throughout the city. read more

The MetroMover is FREE, so why only 3 stars? Well... - its limited in distance - you can easily save a couple minutes of traveling time by WALKING instead - stops running after midnight when this is a nightlife city - the inner / outer loop is confusing, you'd think they planned it that way on purpose, being that its run by the evil government and all It would be a huge improvement if it extended to Wynwood area (which is impossible to get to without a car). And that could bring in more locals to visit the galleries and pretend to care about art and stuff.. Also, what they can do to rid the bums from riding is require from all passengers at station to show proof of employment. Problem solved. Youre welcome, Miami. read more

NPS = 4 Meh...I mean, sure it gets the job done. But at what cost? The Metromover could use a makeover. It could definitely run a little bit more North, maybe out to the beach as well. Yeah yeah...that's right, the costs, yadda yadda. Anyway...it gets me from point A to point B so I can't really complain. Or maybe I am being too positive. I am taking the metromover simply to get from one place to another. I'm not asking for the place to smell like roses or warm apple pie...but I certainly wish it didn't smell like a garbage dump. I wish I didn't have to use my car at all in Miami, but that is a very distant dream. Until the transportation system in Miami as a whole makes major improvements, I guess I'm stuck using the Metromover to get around Miami...or at least Brickell/Downtown area. If you're visiting Miami, use a taxi. But if you're strapped for cash...guess you're stuck using the Metromover. :( read more

Ah the Miami Metromover- yes its free- yes its full of weirdos

Pros-free (paid by sales tax) Cons- reliability. the Omni line is consistently unreliable. Another example of Miami Transit Authority ineptitude. Trains generally are not functioning properly once a week and at at times more frequently. The Metromover is adequate for occasional use or for when the rider does not have concerns for being punctual. But it simply cannot be used as a dependable form of transportation for arriving at work in a timely manner. Lack of security. In the morning be prepared to be accosted by individuals suffering from apparent mental illness with no security in sight. In fact an elderly colleague of mine was recently physical attacked while riding the Metromoand security was nowhere to be found. Elevators-slower than molasses with eau de urine odor. You will feel like you are trapped in a urinal. And often non functioning. read more

I love the Metromover... when I actually take the right train. The loops are very confusing! Once you get a hang of it though- it's great! You have to transfer often and know that some routes only go in one direction at certain stations. Also, don't pay much attention to the colors of the routes! The colors on the map at the station and those in the train are not consistent. I recommend jumping on the train and exploring Miami in an effort to get a handle on the routes...especially before you actually have to take the train when it counts! read more

It's FREE and great for moving around downtown.

Hint: free transportation all over downtown Miami. Hint: if you ever go to see a Heat game at AAA, you COULD pay 20 bucks to park nearby...or park at some distant Metromover station for MUCH LESS, then take the MM there. I use it all the time to find new restaurants all over the place. Oh, and um...yeh, it's free. I wish they'd just build it up more so it goes over the SOBE. Then I'd probably NEVER return to work. I give it four stars because the area it serves is a little TOO limited. read more

Every positive thing the other Yelpers have said, I agree with and can't praise enough: FREE, Clean, GREAT MAPS that even I could follow and people who were helpful when I couldn't figure out where I wanted to get off. It is true I had to ask a young child to let me sit, standing for a Senior and one whose balance is none too good, is NOT an option, so yes you need to be able to sit down, but I really don't think that is a problem. They run often and given that the traffic in Miami is WORSE than it in in LA, I only wish we had a comparable system. I'm glad that there are only a few cars, people in Miami have not yet awakened......let them fight traffic in their cars or pay the high price of taxis. Metro Mover is the way to travel in the 21st century and beyond!! read more

FREE. Located in downtown area. Can be packed but trams come often...routes easy to understand. Plan to stand the whole route.

Awesome way to get around. Buy the day pass and leave the driving to others. We travelled by rail, mover, and bus between Dadeland South and South Beach and back, with a handful of intermediate adventures. One of our bus drivers apparently also appears in Grand Theft Bus 2014, but it's all good. read more

Ok, first I will give some directions: If you are new to this, figure out which loop you want to be on (Omni, Brickell, Downtown) and which direction (Outbound/Inbound). Some stations host more than one loop (ex: Government Center). -First, make sure that you are on the correct side of the tracks for the direction (out/in) you are going. -There are screens up in the station that say which loop (Omni/Brickell/Downtown) is coming next. Use those to determine the loop -To confirm the loop, when the train doors open, look to the black lcd screens inside the train that are over the sliding doors on the opposite side. Those will confirm which loop that train is on. It is a little confusing and they definitely need signs to explain everything more clearly and trains should clearly display the loop they are running on. It is definitely not the quickest way to get around but it is definitely the cheapest! I love the Metromover. Seriously, how much can you complain if it is free?! I REALLY wish they would expand to Midtown and South Beach, but it's great for what it is. You can't expect to be able to get to any destination using it, but if you can then it is way better than finding parking! Trains come every 5-10 mins in my experience (times are not accurate on Google Maps) so you never have to wait for too long. FYI: It is often called it the "Peoplemover." Please don't. That sounds creepy. read more

We utilized this service to get to the Bayside Marketplace area. It was free, efficient and not hard to navigate. My wife was a little upset that there was no driver,,,but I told her not to worry about that. Thanks for such a handy service intown!! read more

I love taking the metromover. It's free. Yes, Allow me to repeat that. FREEEEEE. There's ALSO WiFi and air conditioned. I've taken it a handful of times and have to say that I am pleased with the experience. It's an easy way to go from point A to point B in the brickell area. Unfortunately it doesn't cover a huge radius of Miami, but it still beats driving in traffic and looking for parking. read more

I work in Downtown Miami, therefore I use the metromover regularly. It is free and convenient. I takes you from one point to another in the Downtown area, Brickell area and Omni Hotel. It also has stops at Bayside and Bayfront Park. This is also convenient for those attending a Heat Game or a concert at the AA Arena. read more

For the most part, prissy Miami girls like me don't do public transportation...That is, until I moved into a building in Brickell with the handy dandy mover at my doorstep. The Metromover is convenient and free! I got to Mary Brickell village in 3 minutes and didn't have to deal with the hassle of parking or paying $10 for it! Now if they'd only extend their hours past midnight, we'd be golden! read more

It gets the job done. It passes by all high traffic areas of Brickell, Downtown & even a useful stop in the Design District to the north. Points of interest on the mover are, Mary Brickell Village, Bayside, American Airlines Area, Miami-Dade College, Government Center, Miami Art Museum, The Omni where you can catch buses going to the beach, & The School Board. With the heat that Miami gets these are a life savor for those moving within the city. Sure there are a lot of problem that meet using mass transit but it beats walking around in the sun. Most cars can carry up to 40 people and are air conditioned, I use it everyday to get to work and it saves about 6 minutes from walking to my destination. read more

Love how convenient this thing is! Especially when you have no car and in need of a cheap way to commute around town. Love that it's free. The different stations can be sketch, but if you travel during the hours of the day where most people would use it to commute then you should be fine. I like that above each station (where you would get onto the metro mover) it shows you an image of the stops that are in that direction. Which helps if you are not sure which direction the stop you need to get to is on. Only con would be that you have to pretty much stand the whole time on the Metromover. Otherwise 4 stars! This is also coming from someone who isn't a native of Florida. I was just visiting for the week and was lucky that it was conveniently located across the street from the hotel I was staying at. =) read more

So, funny that I never rode this thing when I lived in MIA.... but, it is a nice way to get around and get to the other people moving train & get around downtown. I wish it when more places and covered a bigger area. If you work or live downtown, this would be a total gem. For people who don't a great thing to utilize going to Heat games or events downtown if you would rather not pay a million dollars to park. Make sure you have some hand sanitizer handy though, not the cleanest ride in town! read more

Always hop aboard when visiting Downtown Miami, have never had a problem. AC works well and PA announcements in non-accented easily-understood English, a joy. All cultural centers and attractions worth going to are a block or two away, a summer joy. All this for FREE, paid for by Miami tax-paying residents, my thanks to them. Don't get the negative reviews. OK, so some other kinds hop on, it's FREE and they are broke, hello! OK, so newbies may be confused at times, try studying the MAP shown in every car and every stop and find yourself. This system was designed for the downtown area only, so why would it be extended when metrorail and buses cover surrounding areas well. read more

Free transportation just about sums this up. Electric cars. No drivers. Relatively clean inside. Tourist-friendly and easy to use. Goes just north of downtown by the performing arts center and down to Brickell. It's convinient and pretty safe. Thats about it. read more
