We love this place normally but please do not go there in the winter !! They keep it so cold it's uncomfortable. Went there last week and it was so cold that by the time they carried my food to the table it was not edible. Tasted like it just came out of tte refrigerator. When the waitress asked if I wanted a box and I told her the issue - manager came over and said they'd cook another one for me - which made no sense because it was still FREEZING in there. Restaurants- a customer should NOT have to eat breakfast in a down filled winter coat and still be freezing/uncomfortable. We will be back in the Spring. Wonder how many customers never come back for this reason? But if they don't complain it will not change. read more

Surprised to find such a wonderful breakfast spot in this immediate area. Stopped on a whim and we do not regret it! Had the Huevos Rancheros and was amazed by the authenticity, portion size, and flavor. Best I've ever had. Wife had the Western Omelet and the best grits she's had in a long time. The service and atmosphere were perfect. Everyone very friendly and professional. Customers flowed in and out steadily but it was never over packed. Great trendy diner that offers breakfast all day. The customer service and the food were excellent. My Yelp partner ordered an avocado chicken wrap and I ordered a fried chicken waffle Benedict. The fried chicken Benedict is not on the regular menu (it was a special for the day). The food was to die for and the generous portion sizes might make you feel like you're dying from fullness at the end of your meal. The prices for most food items are between $7-$14. The place was packed when we got there around 1pm on a Saturday and we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. It was definitely worth the wait and I can't wait to go back. read more

The service was amazing, food was great and they're prices were on the affordable side. I loved that they had the open tabletop to see the kitchen. Listen all I have to say is Kudos. I was tired of driving to Philadelphia for a good breakfast spot now I found one close to my house. There was no wait I walKed right in and was greeted and seated. I enjoyed the waffles were just like like them crisp on the outside fluffy in the inside and hone the strawberry butter light and sweet not all buttery greasy. Chicken well seasoned crispy any juicy . They even mixed the hot sauce and syrup at the table. I told all my friends even on my business pages. The food was excellent: sausage gravy on biscuits, eggs Benedict, hash browns were crispy and browned, pancakes, grilled cheese, French Dip sandwich was stuffed with sliced beef and cheese. Great experience! The food is always good and so is the service. Each time I've been, there has always been a 30-40 minute wait but once seated, I never felt rushed because they work so efficiently. The manager really worked the dining room, making sure all the guests were satisfied. I also heard the kitchen manager or chef give the kitchen staff kudos. I love that management appreciates the customers and their staff who work so hard to keep customers coming back. Had a delicious dinner at the Metro Diner. Was our first time there. After reading the reviews we decided we had to try it. We were not disappointed! We were greeted promptly with a welcome and smiles. Our waitress, Sarafina, promptly came to our table to get our drink order. Had my heart set on breakfast until I saw the photo of the beef tips. They were tender and well seasoned. The broccoli cooked to perfection. The managing partner came over to make sure everything was okay and fill us in on some menu secrets. My wife and I ate here this morning for likely the last time. In fairness, our previous experiences, 3 for the two of us, and an additional time for me left much to be desired, and this time showed improvement especially in the preparation of the food. I ordered steak and eggs. Medium rare on the meat. Poached eggs. Both were cooked correctly. My wife had two eggs over easy with bacon and a biscuit which arrived barely warm. My poached eggs were inadequately drained creating a very watery plate when I placed them onto the steak. We received the food without charge because the owner/manager sent us gift certificates and begged us to come back. The food was better. The service, though better, remained weak. So, when you look at the crowds of people who might still be waiting in the parking lot and wondering if it's worth the wait, I'd say no. read more

I saw this place on Yelp and had to check it out. Not that I typically have complicated food orders but today I woke up wanting fish and eggs.... totally not on the menu haha. But Sarafina (bless her heart) was the real MVP. She had to get a manager to creatively modify the dishes in order to accommodate my wants. Long story short.... my friend and I ordered a slew of brunch items from steak and eggs to fish and eggs and half a waffle :). Sarafina never broke a sweat while putting the order in the to-go system and even laughed because she knew the cooks would likely have a question. Overall... the environment is exquisite. Management was wonderful and made great suggestions... even tried to convince us to dine in which we will do next time when we don't have to do work before going into work tonight lol. I ordered breakfast from here -- the eggs with scrapple, hash browns and english muffin. The worst experience and food ever! They forgot my scrapple and the english muffin was dry and stale and the hashbrowns were over cooked burnt and dry . The eggs tasted horrible. Will never order from there again. Finally a decent brunch spot in Newark!!!! I love the Jacksonville Beach store and was thrilled to see a store in Delaware. The service is always amazing. This one did not have free coffee and lemon water while waiting but the wait was so short. We waited in line for about 15 mins. I had the chicken and waffles (as I always do) and to my surprise is was just as good as the first time I had it, if not better. The coffee of the day was also perfectly brewed and fresh. Extremely welcoming starting with the hostess whom checked us in and they even have a service which texts you a link to see how many people are in front of you! (How cool is that!) Tasha was our waitress and she was AMAZINGGGGG, excellent service from start to finish. Joe the owner came by to see how everything was and for me that is what put the cherry on top the fact he was there ensuring everything was right was the perfect touch you don't get that type of service anymore. Metro diner is an awesome place for brunch. They have both bfast and lunch options all day and it has a southern touch. I like everything from the french dip to the belgian waffles and even the fries! we have eaten here several times prior to the pandemic and ordinarily their food is tasty. We ordered take out of 2 orders of chicken wings. While placing the order on the phone, I explicitly asked for them to cooked extra crispy. Not only were they not extra crispy; they were not done. We had to place them in the oven to cook another 20 minutes. I was just so disappointed.
