I ate here due to traveling to Charleston SC. We were starving so I googled some eating spots. It's rare to find a diner in the South. On this day it was not crowded. The server was friendly, attentive and had some good recommendations. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles with Strawberry Butter and my bestie had the Fish and Chips. My plate was enormous and guess what? I tore it up. Chicken was so on point whew so good. I was skeptical of the Strawberry Butter but it was delicious. I need to replicate it. I also had a side of bacon cooked perfectly. Great dining experience with good food and cheap eats. Also the restroom was very clean and diners were spaced out to social distance. read more

breakfast to go but I still enjoyed it. Ordered the meat lover omlette with hash brown extra grilled onions and mushrooms with wheat toast. My order was fast and friendly as usual and all the condiments and utensils were all in my bag.as I tell everyone call ahead or place your order online which I did. If you haven't already been here you need to go it's one of the better breakfast spots in town. Try the chicken and waffles really on point. read more

I'm from the area and decided to check this place out since I was in town. The place is VERY busy, I decided to go for brunch. But normally I like to be a restaurants early for breakfast, especially if they are busy. Anywho, I had the Bissell breakfast... and it was splendid! The server was great and friendly, and the prices were good too! I like the fact that it is opened later and serve breakfast all day. Definitely will return when I'm visiting again! I have always been wanting to take a picture of my amazing food but, I always forget. Metro diner is amazing. The service is good, the atmosphere is good, and even the food is good. I am probably going to go again today. (I went yesterday) THE FOOD: The food is quite delectable. I order a dish that has sirloin steak, hash browns, (removed the tomatoes), and it's this very nice sauce (forgot the name). Which is very good. I get either a water or a sweet tea as my drink. Food rating: 5/5 THE SERVICE: The service is very good! The manager even asked how the food was! Our server was very nice! The food arrived in 5-10 minutes. There was no wait (There will probably be a wait on Sunday, due to church). Service rating: 5/5 THE ATMOSPHERE: The place is very nice, the people are nice, and there are no loud annoying sounds. I have sat near where the cooks cook. It was very cold (might've been under an air vent). The price is pretty good for the amazing food, and amount of food you would get. Atmosphere rating: 5/5 TOTAL RATING 5/5 read more

The wait for the table on a Sunday afternoon was 45 minutes. The service was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable. I ordered the meatloaf based on the waiter's recommendation. That was not a good choice. The meatloaf was not very flavorful. It seemed to be half breading and half meat. I had to really salt and pepper it up to get some flavor in it. I saw people at other tables had ordered the chicken and waffles. That is what I will be ordering the next time I go. That meal looked AMAZING. read more

This location does get super busy!!! We know exactly when to come and we must say it's GREAT. We're always seated within 5-10 minutes. Customer service is always on point also. You MUST try the Chicken and waffle with strawberry butter. With a side of cheese eggs. Trust you won't need to try anything else. I even tried to make the strawberry butter at home, NOPE can't taste like metro. Great family location on Washington Road, wish they had another one in South Augusta read more

The chicken and green beans were good but the macaroni and cheese should be discontinued/be removed from the menu. The first time I had their Mac & Cheese I figured someone had a bad day. That was over three months ago. Today (7 Jul 25) I ordered what I always order and again the macaroni and cheese as a whole was stiff, some noodles were hard, had no flavor not even cheese, no salt, no pepper, and it was dry. Please consider removing it from the menu or consider using a different vendor for this item. read more

We found this diner today and what a delicious experience. We were greeted and promptly seated. The waitress was amazing and was very knowledgeable of the food. She did a great job offering suggestions when we were struggling with a choice. They have a gluten free menu upon request which is perfect for those with gluten sensitivity or allergies. Our service was prompt. Food: The philly cheesesteak on a gluten free bun was one of the best we've had. It was seasoned well, and the bun wasn't soggy. The fish was perfectly cooked. The omelet was fluffy and had plenty of cheese. The strawberry butter paired well with the toast. We saw several orders for their chicken and waffle. I kid you not, they could have easily fed 2 people! We were tempted to get an order for dessert, but we were stuffed and couldn't eat another bite. However, we plan to come back and try them! We live 2 hours away, but we are already planning our next visit. read more

Visiting the area for business and saw online the good reviews, so glad we tried it!! Portions were huge! My boyfriend did the breakfast burger and he has a big appetite and couldn't finish it. Cheese curds were yummy! Fried chicken egg Benedict ... delicious! Fried chicken was not greasy which is great for us sensitive tummies. Most importantly... the service. Lorraine was our sever and was also running the bar and she did not skip a beat. I overheard other severs having conversations with locals that come a lot and it warmed my heart to hear how they truly care about their customers. Great job! read more

Great food. Good service. I would definitely eat here again. And the prices weren't bad either.

So so good! We were visiting Augusta and pulled up restaurants around our hotel. This one had a 4 1/2 star rating so we gave it a try and it did not disappoint. We walked in to a very friendly greeter who seated us very quickly and it was hopping in there. The gentleman that greeted us actually took our drink orders before we ever sat down. Our actual server that took our orders and served us our food was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual with some great music playing. We ordered the avocado toast and egg and the turkey platter. Both dishes were so tasty and satisfying. The portions were very generous. The menu has a nice variety. We will definitely come by here again next time we are in town. read more

Great casual dining. Friendly staff. Good food! Will be returning if ever in a need for quick bite.

Chicken was tender but the coating was way too salty. Fries were salty but not as bad as the chicken. Way overpowered the chicken. Service was good. Price was Par. Expected more based on reviews. One of the first letdowns I've had on here. read more

The Metro Diner has grown considerably since its humble start in Jacksonville, Florida. Some things have been good since this growth. Probably the best thing is that a lot more people hot to try this what is now growing chain of diners and it is also offering a superior product to places like Denny's and IHOP (or International House of Pancakes to a few of us who remember that long lost term). One of the bad things is that with growth, they had to make some corporate decisions and one of them was to streamline their menu and one of the things to go was my favorite Metro Diner item. It was an incredible sandwich made of pork loin, bacon and spinach. Come on, you know it sounds incredible and let me assure you, it was even better tasting than how it sounded. There are still a lit of great options. You can't go wrong with their burgers and their breakfasts are pretty solid, as well. Most things on the menu are good. Service was good here, as well. I have been to multiple locations, including the original location in Jacksonville, and I cannot say that I have ever had poor service at any of the locations. If you are looking for a good meal, head on over to this location. They have plenty of great things on the menu (just not that amazing pork loin, bacon and spinach sandwich). read more

I will always have a soft spot for local businesses. Super family friendly atmosphere. Each review you see whether on Yelp or Google Review, the owners reply back to each of them personally. Very thoughtful and sweet. Eating at a diner is one of the unique experiences you can get as a foodie. This place wins with its interior design/aesthetic. It feels very homey with a forest green kind of vibe that I had gotten in Augusta. Augusta is known for Master's Tournament (golf), so this diner adds to the Augusta culture. Another gem in Augusta with its rich history. Now let's talk about the food... 3$ mimosas: Honestly can't beat that price and it tasted great. A breakfast/brunch refreshing sip. 16$ Chicken and Waffles: This is what they are known for. Their signature. You get HALF A CHICKEN with a Belgian Waffle. Topped with powdered sugar and their strawberry butter (sweet and tasty). Who can't forget their signature sweet and spicy sauce too. Honestly a must try. The chicken and waffle itself is nothing special compared to other chicken and waffles you get from other places. 11$ The Bissell Breakfast: Two eggs any style, bacon or sausage (patty or links), toast (or breakfast muffin or biscuit), hashbrowns or grits, and a short stack made up of 2 pancakes. This is honestly a classic fill me up. Simple and a timeless classic. Honestly a mood. One thing I found unique was the pancakes, there's a little crystallized sugar/sweet bits as I ate through them. Atmosphere and vibes is good all around. Staff were all wonderful and the place was busy busy. Overall the diner gets my 5 star rating. Left happy and satisfied. Will definitely come here again. They do Military Discounts of 10% off and it applies to the rest of the party members too (just provide proof for one of y'all). Only suggestion is to work on the cleanliness. Compared to other diners that I been to, I would say to work on the cleanliness. The utensils were a little dirty/sticky. The shared stuff in the middle like salt, pepper, ketchup, and etc were very sticky. The table was a little sticky as well, so I had to wipe my utensils/table a little. read more

I'm usually not a chicken + waffles kinda guy, but these will convert you. Chicken was delicious -- not too much breading, which may turn some people off but to me it was fine. As for the waffles... sensational. Fluffy, soft, like eating a sugary pillow. The strawberry butter made the combination taste like eating the last few bites of a cake cone with strawberry ice cream. For dipping the chicken, they gave us a hot sauce-infused syrup which wasn't as odd as it sounded; somehow made sense and brought the items even closer together. read more

Came in super early on a Saturday as to miss the rush. We walk in and the kitchen staff holler to us to sit wherever we'd like. Being our first time there we were trying to find a table for 6. Eventually a waitress comes over and let's us know they have actual tables for 6 and that we don't have to push tables together. We sit and are greeted by the nicest and most relatable waitress I've ever had. I wish I remembered her name but my in-laws picked up the check and I didn't get a chance to see. In any case, she told us her absolute favorites, what was popular, and what specials they currently had. I end up with the Cinnamon Roll Pancake and my husband the Apple Streusel Stuffed Waffle. I wasn't super impressed with the pancakes but they weren't bad. Pretty underwhelming. I half expected the candies pecans to be soft, but they were crunchy. I also usually scoop the butter off pancakes but I actually enjoyed the cinnamon butter. My husband destroyed the waffle. He asked for light cream cheese but even then it was too much. He'd get it again, without any cream cheese though. He loved how fluffy the waffle was, and how generous they were with the apple toppings. We ordered a side of home fries to share and have the kids pick off, but it isn't something we'd really remember. They weren't seasoned, but a little salt and pepper made them taste better. We'd come back, maybe not on the weekend, but a return is surely in our future. read more
