My husband ordered the brisket grilled cheese, which was absolutely delicious, and I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were phenomenal at first. Unfortunately, a few bites in, I found a black hair in my food. Our server did apologize and immediately took the dish back to be remade, which I appreciated. However, I was honestly too grossed out to want to eat it again, and I wasn't given any option--whether to remake it or have it removed from the bill. What was more disappointing was how the situation was handled afterward. No manager came over to apologize, and nothing was comped or discounted on the bill. It was clear the staff was aware of the situation, as several employees came out and repeatedly stared at us, which made us feel uncomfortable. I understand that mistakes happen, but it's how they're handled that matters. With better service recovery, this could have been a completely different experience. As it stands, it left a bad impression. I would consider giving them another chance, but only if situations like this are handled more professionally in the future.

I am new to the area and was just looking for a few places to try out and wasn't going to go here, but I saw that they had huevos rancheros and cheese curds with fries and I wanted to try them out so I placed a pick up order and went to get it. The service was good for the record and this review is strictly based on the food. When I got there, I made an additional order of the lemon blueberry bread pudding. I left and the first thing I tried were the cheese curds and fries, which were clearly fried in the same grease as chicken because that's what they tasted like and since I don't eat chicken because I am a pescatarian, I was extremely annoyed. I got the rancheros without bacon and it came that way, but the chips were so hard they were inedible and even Softened it was like trying to chew through rubber. The eggs and toppings were passable and I wish I had the order without the chips. The pudding was delicious, the only saving grace and would have gotten this a higher rating if I have not been sick (bathroom warrior) since eating there Tuesday. It is now Thursday morning and I can barely keep down water, like what the heck. I know it was this because I had not eaten anything else that day and was starving or since. I will NEVER return or recommend. read more

5-Star Review I had a late lunch today at Metro Diner in Aiken and had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with Miranda as my bartender/server. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about her! Miranda was absolutely amazing. Her personality was beyond anything I expected, and she had me laughing and enjoying myself throughout my entire visit. She was friendly, attentive, genuine, and just an absolute joy to be around. Sometimes you go out to eat and remember the food, but every now and then you encounter someone who makes the entire experience memorable -- and Miranda definitely did that for me. The food was thoroughly enjoyable, but if I'm being completely honest, Miranda was the best part of my visit. Her energy, personality, and the way she made me feel so welcome made my late lunch something I genuinely enjoyed. Metro Diner is lucky to have someone like Miranda representing them. She is truly a wonderful asset to your restaurant, and I hope she knows how much of an impression she made on me today. Thank you, Miranda, for making my lunch so much more than just a meal. You made me laugh, you made me feel welcome, and you made my day a little brighter. Five stars all the way! read more

So I managed to stop by this place for lunch the other day. I sat at the bar and a pleasant young lady greeted me with a smile and I had no complaints. I just wish I could remember your name whomever you are. I wasn't there for breakfast as that's what this place is mostly known for. I ordered a club sandwich with a salad on the side. It was well presented and a lot of food despite the price which I felt was somewhat high. My only complaint is I felt the sandwich was a bit on the salty side and could have used more bacon. The salad was unremarkable and a bit sad looking. If the owners see this consider making your side salads more generous such as adding a small serving of ham as a option, or spring greens vs ice berg salad. Again salad needs more work! Good place regardless just dont get the side salad. read more

Stopped into Metro Diner this morning during a drive to Aiken, and it ended up being one of those meals you don't forget. The vibe is exactly what you hope for in a local diner -- warm, welcoming, and full of life. You can tell right away it's a place people love coming back to. I ordered the Croissant French Toast, and WOW. It was perfectly cooked with flaky layers and that soft, custardy center -- rich without being too heavy. My brother went with the Fruit Waffle, loaded with fresh strawberries and bananas, and it was just as good as it looked. But honestly, what made the experience stand out was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely at home. If you're anywhere near Aiken and craving a solid breakfast, this place is 100% worth it. read more

EXCELLENT food, service and dining experience at any hour. Metro is ensuring Covid-19 cleanliness and great attentiveness to customers. This is one of THE BEST places in Aiken to dine. Groups of 4 I think is the preferred max. My forever disclaimer: PLEASE be nice and courteous with your waiter/waitresses. Because I only saw 2 waitresses and about 12-13 tables occupied. Despite that, we got really good service and would be one of the reasons why my family and I would go back. And despite it being a full house: all of our meals came in 5-7 minutes! Perhaps an anomaly, but even if it was a few mins longer I wouldn't have been disappointed. Food was good. Not great, but good enough. Worse thing I could say is my parent's omelette was more on the greasy side. I thought my sandwich and side was really good. Especially how much I paid for it. Total price was $60 for 4 people (2 sandwiches, 2 omelettes, and 2 drinks). Perhaps more than I would have preferred, but we didn't think it was terrible. I noticed price went up a little when looking at a menu uploaded a month ago. I know times are tough, but hopefully they're able to stay with the prices they're at for a while. Verdict: your decent diner. The staff and location after Mass is enough for me to come back pending on the day.

While in town for the weekend my husband and I wanted brunch somewhere unique to Augusta instead of another chain restaurant, and after scrolling Yelp and seeing all the glowing reviews we decided to give this Black owned, family operated spot a try. I noticed online that you can make a reservation for a $20 fee that gets deducted from your check. At first I was a little surprised, but after seeing how busy this place is, it makes total sense. We decided to roll the dice without a reservation anyway. When we arrived on a Saturday morning there were already several people waiting outside. There isn't really an indoor waiting area, so the hospitable hostess took my name and phone number and kindly asked us to wait outside. Later I noticed the sign explaining the process. She quoted us a 40-minute wait, but thankfully we were seated in about half that time. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy with a classic diner feel complete with counter seating and booths. The ambiance is casual and welcoming. If you have a larger party, there are a couple of outdoor tables that appear to accommodate around six people, but personally I think this spot is best enjoyed with a smaller group. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly despite the busy brunch crowd. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles while I went with the Garden City breakfast bowl loaded with veggies and home fries plus a salmon croquette on the side. Every single thing tasted homemade and full of flavor. This is what Southern comfort food is supposed to taste like. My husband said the chicken was seasoned well and fried perfectly, and the waffle paired with it beautifully. My breakfast bowl reminded me of the kind of breakfast my grandma used to make, comforting, flavorful, and cooked with care. Portion sizes were just right, enough to leave satisfied without feeling miserable afterward. Prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food and service we received.
