What a breakfast! We came in for the soft opening fundraiser for Helping Hands on Sunday. I ordered the red, white and blue waffle with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream. The waffle was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fruit was fresh and sweet like they were height of the season fresh from down the road. The mega pancake was huge and yummy! Try it with the strawberry butter. The hashbrowns were good. I will ask for mine more done next time. I like a little brown on my potatoes. The food all came out in an expected amount of time with appetizing presentation. The servers were still in training, but provided attentive service. We could hear the trainers providing tips to the trainees every now and then to make sure the fast paced breakfast service flowed smoothly. FYI-They have a bar and open at 7am. This will be a great spot for early morning soccer games....hmm. I'm looking forward to it! read more

Metro Diner - So much food. - Diners Near Me - Aiken, South Carolina

Great family friendly breakfast/brunch location. People are friendly. If it's just 1 or 2. The bar is a great option.

When i visit my dad, we go out to Metro Diner at least twice for breakfast. Service, quality and quantity of food is absolutely wonderful. Last time we had the Huevo rancheros and the chicken and waffles. Both were beyond yum!! The Huevo Ranchos had little fried jalapeños that were so tasty and the chips that they build it on are absolutely delicious. The chicken and waffles is totally worth the wait. Best fried chicken I have ever had and the strawberry butter with the waffles is outstanding! read more

I stopped in Aiken today for work and had breakfast here. Jen H. made my day with excellent service and a laugh. The food was quick and practically on the go without feeling rushed. I will definitely be stopping back by whenever I'm in town again. read more

Metro Diner is my wife's favorite place to go! We eat there regularly and it's always good food, great service, and reasonable prices!

Food is way better than expected! I have had the Meatloaf and the Chicken and Waffles so far and loved both! I also had the Christmas Feast and was well pleased with no mess to cleanup! read more

We love this place! Cool brunches and very interesting combination bowls. Egg, avacado, bacon with hollandaise sauce for instance.

I just love eating here! Food is amazing and the service is always great! We had Julie as a waitress last 2 times we were there...Can't say enough good about her! Super responsive and nice. Highly recommended!! read more

Yet another try for Metro. This will be my last. I ordered the western omelette, home fries and a biscuit. To drink I ordered a tea & a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was ok, the tea was very good but I found myself once again underwhelmed by the food. Nothing inside the omelette was cooked. The onions and peppers were raw. The cheese wasn't even melted- what tiny amount there was. There was so little cheese it wasn't even discernible. The biscuit was overcooked and dry and the home fries had zero seasoning. The service was however very good. Someone else in my party ordered the same thing and theirs was identical. So long Metro- I gave you a fair try . read more

Great breakfast! Love the service and seating was very comfortable. The dining area was very clean with a family atmosphere.

Sometimes the food here is good and majority of the time it's not. The wait time is ridiculous plus the waitress here are soo rude and they act like they can't hear when you place an order. read more

Terrible customer service when I picked up my online order. Just blankly overlooked as if I want there after I told the host I was here for my order. read more

Excellent food and very good service every time I have been there. Nice ambiance. Excellent Eggs Benedict.

Was so happy to stumble upon this diner in the days after Hurricane Helene. We had no power, couldn't find anything open, and I was super hungry. I ended up coming here two days in a row. The staff were all very friendly and smiling - even though they were clearly working very hard with a huge volume of customers. And the food was just what I needed. Thank you! read more

Food is always great and they always has friendly and attentive staff.my favorite food was the Parmesan Chicken but it is no longer served. Haven't found another favorite yet. read more

Love this place how did chicken and waffles all to die for bears I've had a lot of places where they tried to make chicken and waffles and nobody. I mean nobody does it like this place, so yes I would highly recommend this ambience. A great service is great. the food is great go to have you haven't come here you're in for a treat. Thank you. read more

Classic dinner dining in a 50's style decor with a Multi page menu. Breakfast is our favorite here with excellent pancakes! However they have plenty of lunch and dinner options as well offering specials regularly. They're large dine at bar and signature cocktails are also impressive. If you're feeling in the mood for some good old fashion diner food this is the place! Plenty of parking available however they do get quite busy but have never had to wait more than five minutes for a table. read more

Being from The northeast and on our last day of visiting with family, we were in need of a southern lunch stat! With COVID numbers climbing, the restaurant we had planned to go to was closed due to a server contacting the virus. After calling several places, they were either closed-it was the shoulder hour between lunch and dinner or just no availability, we decided to check out Metro, since diners are a 'thing' in NJ. And we are so glad that we did!! My husband had been craving chicken and waffles since we arrived so after downing a $3 Bloody Mary, which by the way, you can NOT get any cocktail for less than $9 back home, he dove into his generously portioned dish. Wow-the chicken was so moist due to the brining and the coating was delicious! Enough to make this Yankee want to trade a New England lobster roll for southern fried chicken any day of the week! I had the shrimp and grits which was also delicious! The grits were served as cakes atop the shrimp and white gravy sauce. Sooo good! My brother in law is a chef in the Aiken area-he had a burger and he said it was wonderful-served warm rare to his liking. Our server, Mark, was the fastest southern talker and provided the fastest service that I encountered in my 5 day trip to Georgia and SC. He was great! Who knows when we will be returning to Aiken-but my brother in law said HE will definitely be returning to Metro! read more

Whew! Now that's what I call a breakfast! Because they have it printed on the window, advertised on the placemat and featured in the menu, I had to order the Chicken & Waffle! It did not disappoint! Half of a chicken and a Belgian waffle! Surprisingly, the food came quick!! And I was able to order "all dark meat".. sweet! The strawberry butter looked like ice cream and the server made me some spicy syrup! The chicken was juicy and tasty, looked like it was marinated in buttermilk. The waffle was great, I can do without the powdered sugar though. Next time, I'll try something else. read more

Great food and service. Good menu items we all enjoyed. Two thumbs up. Would eat there again for sure

Food never disappoints! Nicest staff! I love sitting near the prep area to watch the people cooking. Best cappuccinos ever!!!! read more

Excellent spot for breakfast. Reasonably priced. Will definitely return. Both my husband and I loved our meal and service

Decent food, decent service but there isn't a door on the service kitchen and if you are seated within 20 feet of it then you are going to hear dishes slamming, ice being dumped into the ice storage bin and servers and other employees having LOUD conversations. PUT A DOOR ON It...please! read more

This place is amazing! we had a puppy with us and really wanted to try this place as we were passing through town; and they accommodated us so well! they drug tables outside and let us try their amazing food while being able to have our dog with us. Tina was our waitress and she was AMAZING. definitely try this place. the food and the service is wonderful. read more

Good comfort food! Kind of noisy when they are very busy. The servers are great and if you ever have a problem or concern the manager is always available. Family friendly. read more

This is a fun family diner. There are typical, heartwarming dishes such as fried chicken, but one hefty meal combines it with pancakes. Come hungry, as their portions are very generous. Metro Diner does list the calories next to each item. Although it's kind of frightening to discover exactly how much you are consuming, it also helps you control how you eat for the rest of the day! read more

Great that local chain has survived COVID and re-opened....great breakfast in Aiken SC and in Augusta. Always great staff....always clean. Recommend the loaded hash browns and homemade biscuits. This morning having avocado toast and Kelsey is having veggie omelette....freshly made! read more

Metro Diner - Dining room open! - Diners Near Me - Aiken, South Carolina

While their menu has lots of variety, I don't find it inspirational. Our group of 12 got seated quickly, and our waitress was attentive. The kitchen isn't set yo to fix that many meals together, so we got our meals piecemeal, as they were ready. The waitress had some difficulty in getting the right meals to the right person, but it all worked out. read more

When they first built it I was a huge fan of the chicken and waffles but now not so much anymore.

Food is great people are very nice. I love going there to eat but need to have someone to keep restroom clean at all time

Despite the Covid 19 situation, They were terribly understaffed (Tara however was great but we were concerned for her as her face was beet red!) for a Saturday morning. We sent breakfast back as it was cold when it finally got picked up at the window (Iggy watched the plates for at least 10 minutes). The manager was working hard as well so I'm sure it was a staffing problem. Yes, we will be back because we realize that everything is still upside down.... forward progress, Metro Diner! read more

Love the chicken and waffles, the atmosphere was friendly, the service was good the chicken came out nice and hot.

They have their own idea of chicken waffles. And oh my goodness. You wouldn't imagine the shrimp & grits.

Food was amazing! I had the huevos rancheros. Cooked way different than Texas but so yummy! It came with fried jalapeños which were phenomenal! The rest of the family had carnitas and the bissell plate I think. Plates were emptied by the men, too much for us ladies. Lorraine was an exceptional server! read more

Good variety of food on the menu . The food was very good and the service was fast and friendly

I have been approximately 5 times. (Peer pressure)I have had 3 less than good meals. The cook staff is not well trained. For example serving brown avocado toast , scraping the sludge from the bottom of a container and serving it covered up with mashed potatoes. They can't accommodate more than 3 guests at a time! Ask them it's "policy " 3 orders go into kitchen at a time. So food for a group comes out in stages. You know what, after writing this I'm changing my stars from 3 to 2 ! read more

This place opened with a bang, but has gradually leveled off to "average". Not many choices in Aiken, but this spot is not great. read more

Wide menu, do well with a range of breakfast lunch and dinner selections. Fast seating and service, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

This place is a mess. Seriously the food is mediocre at best, & lousy at worst. You might hit it right one day, but most times it is not good. The crowds are gone. The service is a mess. Eggs cold, missing side dishes. Burgers way overcooked. They need to either close this place, or upgrade the food & seriously retrain the server staff. It's a shame to have a diner in Aiken(not like a REAL diner tho) & ha e the food & service so lacking. I see this time & time again in Aiken. Why go through the trouble, time & expense to have a restaurant that is MEH. read more

Service is on point. Biscuits and gravy. Awesome. Chicken fried steak. Great. Fried chicken. Awesome, best I've personally had. Waffles. Typical Americanized 'Belgian' waffle, not the dense semi-sweet/savory waffle you expect with chicken and waffles. Portions are large, my Chicken and Waffles came with a half a chicken and a whole waffle. I didn't expect to like the strawberry butter, but I did. The maple and hot sauce they mix up for your chicken is okay, I added quite a bit of hot sauce to get it to my liking. Come hungry, leave happy. Definitely worth a bit if a drive to visit. We'll be back. read more
