    Pollo con crema

I'll start off on what was good. If you love papusas this is your place. They were the best ones I've had in a while. Full of flavor. I do wish they had an in between for their sauce that goes on top. Their hot is way too hot for me, but their regular sauce could have a little kick. But still good. The rest of the meal I could live without. I ordered the the pollo con crème based on reviews and found it very bland. Cooked well but plain to me. And then the worst of it all was yucca and chicharon. They were right before being burnt. It was overcooked. We didn't finish it. I will only be ordered from here for the Papusas.

Came in Labor Day weekend. A lot of places were closed but not here. Had the pollo con crema (chicken in cream) and it was delicious. Service was great. I can't lie... I did see a roach crawling across the ground and there was a baby screaming inside but my food was amazing I would eat here again.

We have been on the search for some good pupusas in the area (sadly, not too many options in CSRA) and happened to stumble upon this restaurant in Aiken. Ordered the beans and cheese, pork and cheese, and pork/beans/cheese - all were fantastic! Tasted homemade and fresh. We always like to order yucca as a side and the yucca here is perfectly fried and crispy! Will definitely be coming back whenever we get pupusa cravings!

Came in for lunch from all the great reviews. I was greeted with a big smile and seated promptly. The menu has so many choices, it all sounded so good and had a hard time choosing. Another yelper recommended the pollo con crema and I ordered it. It came out hot and fresh and everything from the perfectly seasoned brands and rice to the tender juicy grilled seasoned chicken breast. I drooled, ate, drooled and ate... portions are big ... so Lunch the next day was gonna be amazing. And it truly was. Come check them out, you will not be disappointed!!

Oh my oh my... I usually get my pupusa fix at the Latin Street festival, but due to COVID-19 all the festivals were canceled. Enter Cabañas Salvadorean Restaurant. I went in today and ordered two of every vegetarian pupusa on the menu. I took the order to go with two Jarritos. Oh my.. they were all delicious. My favorites were the queso y frijol and queso y espinaca. The salsa and curtido were also delicious...I could just snack on that anytime! I will definitely be stopping here often. So yum! So, I came back and got the mofongo with veggies. I had a craving... It was not on the menu but the owner and I talked it out and created it. The mofongo (smashed plantain) was a little different than what you get at many Puerto Rican places. It was more firm. However the flavors were on point! Perfectlt sautéed veggies. It was great!

Pollo Con Creme with rice and beans. Everything was delicious. Try this one.

My wife and I like to try out lesser known places from time to time. We had passed Cabanas several times and thought we should try it. I looked it up on Yelp and found it had high rating, so we had to check it out. Looking at it from the outside isn't impress at first, but then a closer look revealed a nice out door eating area. The inside is pretty much set up to serve food. No frills, pretty pictures or travel posters. Seating and tables are solid but comfortable. Our server was a nice, we'll groomed young man. He was very patient with two retired gringos who needed a lot of explanations. The food was really good. I had the pollo con creme with Rice and refried beans. Everything was seasoned. Nothing bland on the plate. The creme sauce was seasoned but not hot. It had just a little kick at the end and there was plenty of it. My wife ordered shrimp and fried plantains. That was her first time for plantains. She loved it all. By the height of lunchtime, the place was full. Prices are very reasonable. I know we will be going back, and encourage you to try it if you haven't already.

This is a hole-in-the-wall AUTHENTIC Salvadorian restaurant. I cannot explain the level of food quality but I will try. I husband and I ordered enough food for four people so that we could try a variety of things. We had the Pollo con crema, yucca and chicharon, pupusas, rice, and Platanos maduros. Everything was cooked just right whether it be the juicy chicken and chicharon or the sweet, crisp outer layer of the platanos with the sweet mushy center. For beverages, we got the Agua Fresca in piña and marañon (cashew apple). Both were great! Try the marañon! I will 100% return to and recommend this place!

THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS. CLOSEST TO THE REAL DEAL I PROMISE YOU! FOOD: The Salvadoreño breakfast dish is just mmmmph! So good. Transports me to a little diner in El Salvador. The cheese is also made fresh daily at the restaurant. Every piece of this dish was perfection. The Cuban sandwich is soooooo good. The meat is tender and juicy. Bread is nice and toasty. The pickle is the cherry on top. I feel like this sandwich is underrated but it's definitely a MUST TRY. DRINKS: I ordered the ensalada de fruta and the horchata drinks. Their drinks are made fresh at the restaurant. They also sell beer (including Pilsner imported from El Salvador), American soda, and Jarritos! SECRET MENU ALERT: empanadas puertorriqueñas (puerto rican). Sooooooo good. These were super crispy. Packed with shredded chicken. PRO TIP: If you want a quick on-the-go meal, try the Cuban sandwich. SERVICE: Their service was stellar and the reason why I'm putting a lot of effort into this review. The waiters are very attentive and nice, to the point where one waiter opened the door for me as I left. The owner is also very very nice. You'll find him also waiting on tables, checking in with customers, taking phone calls and greeting everyone. I was impressed by their drive and their work ethic. AMBIANCE: I loved the feel of this place. Felt very Latin American. Even though they haven't been open for more than a year, it's already such a cute Latin American restaurant. OVERALL: I am glad we have an AUTHENTIC Latin American restaurant with KILLER FOOD and KIND STAFF. Will be coming here again.

This food at this restaurant is incredibly delicious and the family who owns it is hands down some of the nicest people I have ever met. We have known the owner for a very long time from a different restaurant in town and we are so thrilled that Benito has had the amazing opportunity to own and open his own restaurant. The food and the service is impeccable. We have eaten at a LOT of different restaurants and when we got take out from Cabanas for the very first time my husband said that he thinks that this is the best food we've ever eaten. Go see for yourself. It will be love at first bite!

Very new restaurant to Aiken. I had the Pollo con Crema. Basically chicken with cheese, rice and beans. It was also served with 2 homemade tortillas. My husband had Mofungo Rellano. It was a fried mashed plantain dish with chicken added. His also had a sauce that complimented the plantains. The chicken dish was good, but refried beans extremely salty, as well as the cheese on the grilled chicken. Husband said his dish was good. Lunch with 2 drinks and tip was $28. Maybe a little more pricey than other places in town. The restaurant clean, everyone masked. A little more AC would have felt good.

We got the one with cheese and the other with cheese and chicharrón. They were so delicious and flavorful. My hub got the Churrasco Salvadoreño and it was so yummy and perfectly seasoned. We also got fried cheese, which was the bomb dot com, lol. We got for beverages horchata & jugo de mora with milk, which both were delicious and refreshing. Service was perfect, too. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

They have a broader menu which for me had a modicum of things worth trying, but I certainly came seeking the grilled corn taste. I ordered two pupusas with corn flour and one with rice, and honestly I couldn't tell the difference (or they just gave me corn by accident). This place does offer the option to get a bean-filled pupusa without cheese, which is handy for those people that have particular dietary needs. I got two with cheese as well, one with the delightful little flower buds (loroco) distinctive to this cuisine, and another with peppers. The fermented cabbage (curtido) that comes with it was plentiful and adds a fantastic taste and texture contast. Some empanadas with plantain and milk were sweet and a new taste for me. They had a variety of tropical fruit juices, and I wasn't unhappy with my decision to add a cup. They were timely and on top of things for a takeout order through the typical online vendors, but it was a big and nice enough place to eat in.

I was anticipating a hand-sized pupusa, and what was on the flat top were pupusas about the size of my head. Not necessarily a problem, but even a Salvadoran friend of mine was put off by how big the pupusas were when I sent him a picture. The second was the price. I get inflation and yadda yadda, but I looked at the menu picture on here for the pork pupusa ($7) and when I got there in person it was actually $10. Now, I get that the menu picture was 3 years ago, but yeesh. Again, the Salvadoran friend was blown away by the price. The pupusa itself was rather greasy, and had a very strong masa flavor. It was less a pocket of meat rather a flat pancake with meat throughout. Once I got towards the center, the flavor was a lot better. The curtido and the hot sauce made the pupusa much better. Over all, say it was pretty decent, but I would not get it again considering the price. If you like very large portions, you'll have no problem with these pupusas. It just wasn't for me.
