Food is very authentic hand made tortillas service was great recommend for authentic Mexican food in Columbia a hole in the Wall. I was an unexpected find I will return on another day I was there for breakfast and I got the Mexican style eggs and sunny side up eggs for my friend we were both shocked about the food.because I had not find decent Mexican food in Columbia.

I worried when I left Texas to move to Columbia, SC, that I would not be able to find good Mexican food. Was I ever wrong! I'm thinking this is really El Salvadoran food, but it hit the spot. More authentic than much of what you can find in Texas, which is heavy on the Tex-Mex. This was like eating in Mexico City, or maybe San Salvador? The pupusa revuelta was delicious. I'd never had one before (Googled it and it is a traditional dish from San Salvador) - it is a kind of stuffed tortilla with cheese, ground pork, and beans. It was served with a pickled cabbage slaw and an orange hot sauce that was super flavorful. I also had the eggs with chorizo. The best part, which is as it should be, was the home made corn tortillas! Yes!!! Yay!!! My best dude had the caldo de res, which was chock full of beef, corn, and other yummy stuff. We couldn't finish the food, so we brought back a box for later. I almost forgot, the fruit water (I had melon) is refreshing. We will be back - again and again and again and again. I do need to mention that we initially thought they were closed even though I called before we went to make sure they were open. The grocery store was closed, but around the side of the building is where you find the restaurant side and it was open. This place is just too good to miss and I'm oh-so-thrilled that I will not be pining for delicious food from south of the border. Muy declicioso!!! The reason they didn't get 5 stars is it is a bit "down at the heels," but that's actually just fine with me. This is not date-night food for the well heeled, it is authentic food for the adventurous. Tip: just a little bit of Spanish will help as the friendly lady who served us and took our payment does not speak English fluently. Between her English and our "picked up from growing up in Texas" Spanish, we did fine.

This place is good, the food has an authentic Mexican flavor and the service is ok. I say ok cause it took a while to get my food, there was only one waitress working on Saturday and she did her best but it was just too busy for one person. They have Mexican market attached to the restaurant so you can have lunch and do some shopping after, not a bad place for lunch or brunch in the weekend.

I asked beef ribs and got this!!

Most expensive Mexican market in columbia!! 2lb meat $15... And they don't even give you the right meat you asked for!! I told them I need beef ribs and I even POINTED out, when I got home and opened the bag I not only found out that was some kinda fatty beef it has also very odd smell... So I'm scared to cook!!! Then I called the store about it no one understands what I'm calling about!!! If you are doing business in Amerika, Please learn basic English... I love international food and people, But you can not even say Hello it's turn off for me!!! So Please go to your local adult learning center and learn FREE English, Yes, it's FREE!!!

a hidden gem! when getting here, you will feel completely confused but in a good way. upon entering, you find yourself in a store. the restaurant is located to the left in the back. loud music is played from a juke box in a corner. do not come expecting a romantic quiet time. this is a place for groups or families... or those that don't mind shouting a little bit over their meals. :) warning: the waitstaff does not speak a lick of english. the menu is in both spanish and english but there is no description to the dishes. everyone starts their meals with fresh tortilla chips (thick ones) and a condiment plate which consists of diced onions, cilantro and 2 sauces (salsa verde and red). tacos al pastor (pork) are great. i enjoyed my tamale as well. pupusas and tortas are also offered. posole ("mexican stew") is a spicy rich stew with small tender bits of spareribs served with corn tortillas. shrimp cocktail is drowning in an overly sweet tomato sauce with generous amounts of onions and cilantro. i'm not a huge fan of the gorditas but all the tortas are solid. highlights of the weekend specials are the caldo de res (beef soup) and marinated chicken. the beef soup is hearty with multiple layers of flavor. delish! drinks include horchata and aguas frescas (alternating between melon, papaya, jamaica, pineapple) open until 10pm daily!

This little Mexican joint is an overlooked gem in west columbia! Unless you are looking for it you can pass right by and not even realize the deliciousness you are missing. This is a combined restaurant and store with all sorts of imported Mexican products. We walked around while we were waiting for our food and checked out all the Mexican candy and pastries. They also have a counter with raw marinated meats such as al pastor and carne asada which you can take home and cook to your liking. We got the fajitas Texanas which are just mixed grill fajitas, a steak burrito and lengua tacos. Everything was wonderful. The shrimp in the fajitas were probably the best I have had in a Mexican joint. They were cooked perfectly, not chewy at all. Basically, this place is great even if they do play super loud Mexican music the entire time you are eating! Also the waitresses speak limited English so there may be a couple lost in translation moments but when in doubt just point at what you want on the menu!

DUMP. Nobody asked to help me and I waited 10 minutes at my table then walked out. They don't like whites here for sure.

I was anticipating a hand-sized pupusa, and what was on the flat top were pupusas about the size of my head. Not necessarily a problem, but even a Salvadoran friend of mine was put off by how big the pupusas were when I sent him a picture. The second was the price. I get inflation and yadda yadda, but I looked at the menu picture on here for the pork pupusa ($7) and when I got there in person it was actually $10. Now, I get that the menu picture was 3 years ago, but yeesh. Again, the Salvadoran friend was blown away by the price. The pupusa itself was rather greasy, and had a very strong masa flavor. It was less a pocket of meat rather a flat pancake with meat throughout. Once I got towards the center, the flavor was a lot better. The curtido and the hot sauce made the pupusa much better. Over all, say it was pretty decent, but I would not get it again considering the price. If you like very large portions, you'll have no problem with these pupusas. It just wasn't for me. Pupusa: 7.0/10 With curtido and hot sauce: 7.6/10 Total: $10

We got the one with cheese and the other with cheese and chicharrón. They were so delicious and flavorful. My hub got the Churrasco Salvadoreño and it was so yummy and perfectly seasoned. We also got fried cheese, which was the bomb dot com, lol. We got for beverages horchata & jugo de mora with milk, which both were delicious and refreshing. Service was perfect, too. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

They have a broader menu which for me had a modicum of things worth trying, but I certainly came seeking the grilled corn taste. I ordered two pupusas with corn flour and one with rice, and honestly I couldn't tell the difference (or they just gave me corn by accident). This place does offer the option to get a bean-filled pupusa without cheese, which is handy for those people that have particular dietary needs. I got two with cheese as well, one with the delightful little flower buds (loroco) distinctive to this cuisine, and another with peppers. The fermented cabbage (curtido) that comes with it was plentiful and adds a fantastic taste and texture contast. Some empanadas with plantain and milk were sweet and a new taste for me. They had a variety of tropical fruit juices, and I wasn't unhappy with my decision to add a cup. They were timely and on top of things for a takeout order through the typical online vendors, but it was a big and nice enough place to eat in.
