I'm 100% sure this lady was the culprit. She kept telling me oh they are working on it. Seriously. When I finally confronted her about the time after waiting about 20 minutes she got snappy with me. Great so men pee on seat that I'm supposed to sit on and they pee on floor where I'm supposed to put my feet. I sit on toilet and now my pants are soaking up the men's pee. We ordered online through Toast and picked up. Birria quesadilla box, Mexi bowl and supreme ground beef tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious! Fresh ingredients and the quesadillas were huge! Came with a bowl of Mexican corn, dipping sauce, and several limes. The hard tacos were double-shelled so they were still crunchy when we got home. The person who ordered the bowl said this is her new favorite place and I tend to agree. Food was ready when I arrived and the staff was very friendly. I didn't eat there but it was a nice little shop and very clean. So would be happy to stop by for lunch very soon. We noticed that they had very little but great Google and Yelp reviews, so we decided place an take out order. So we submitted our order through their website and the process was seamless and very easy. Upon arrival and entering the restaurant to grab our order, the staff was very friendly and pleasant. We ordered a chicken burrito and their burria tacos. Both my spouse and I truly enjoyed everything we ordered. The tacos was excellent and definitely worthy of all raving!!! The chicken burrito was huge and stuffed with tons of meat. Everything we orderd was delicious and mouthwatering. I would highly recommend this place and don't allow them being co-located with a gas station to fool you. A friend and I decided to come here yesterday. They are located next to a gas station. Or shall I say it is connected. Because I have heard of how good the food is, this is why I decided to go. I wouldn't typically. It was empty when we arrived but as soon as we ordered, the flood gates opened! People were in and out. The food was fresh, hot (ceviche was cold of course), chips were fresh and the drinks were nice! They had music playing the whole time we were in there. It made for a true Mexican experience. It was totally by accident that I stumbled upon this amazing restaurant...we were out driving back home looking for a quick pit stop and the restaurant showed up on drive home. I was able to go in ask the Manager to use the restroom and decided to get some snacks for the road. I ordered the esquites and Agua Fresca I know they had hibiscus and passion fruit. I tried the passion fruit which came in a huge 32oz cup and it's very sweet but refreshing. I looooove esquites so I'm always happy to find a place that serves it I watched him make it on the food line and it is muy delicioso....I can't wait to go back and get it again along with their birria tacos which looked so good. They also had a machine in the back with freshly prepared chips that looked really good. The restroom is tidy and the restaurant had great vibes. I just want to know why I waited so long to try this place! I've seen it on DoorDash and passed it a couple of times but never stopped in. I was craving some birria and wasn't up for the drive to Real Mexico, and I think I can say now that I won't be making that drive often at all now that I've finally tried Rica Mex! I placed my order for pick up through their website host, Toast. I got 4 birria tacos, a cup of street corn, and a Horchata and my total came to $22. You could easily split this into 2 taco meals and split the cup of corn and you'd feel satisfied, but I like to go overboard so I kept it all for myself, haha! I picked up my food about an hour ago, and it's so good I've already written the review! The tacos were wonderful. They had a very good crispy edged corn tortilla with plenty of meat. Much to my surprise, the meat in my tacos were not huge chunks of fat with small beef pieces mixed in like how you get at some other birria places around town. It was tender and juicy, like, "wear a bib if you like the shirt you're wearing when eating birria tacos", haha! The only thing I would "change" about the tacos is that I'd like it to be a little heavier on the onion and cilantro, but that is definitely personal preference, so I'm not docking any stars for that! The street corn in a cup was pretty good. It's not the best esquite I've had, but it fits the bill for what it is and tastes great. I think an extra touch of tajin and mayo, maybe a squeeze of lime, would bring it up the taste, but it was still good the way it was! The horchata...oh my, the horchata. It is so delicious, I am legitimately sad that I finished my cup. They serve it in a big cup, so you are absolutely getting your moneys worth. The taste is just so comforting...it's smooth, almost creamy, and feels so good in your body after a long hot day. I would buy this by the gallon from Rica Mex...name your price, friends, the ball is in your court! And finally the staff. I read a lot of reviews that mentioned the staff was awesome and kind, but I was like "come on, how awesome and kind can some taco staff REALLY be?" Well, I did not give them enough credit because they are SO freakin' nice! Big smiles all around and they make sure your order is ready to GO go. They're not going to let you walk out with an order without plastic ware, straws, and napkins, they'll wipe down the side of your Horchata if some spilled down the side so it doesn't get all over everything in your car, and they're going to pack your order in a bag very carefully to ensure there's no spilling. 100/100 A++ work from the staff. Even if the food sucked (which I want to be clear, IT DID NOT) I would probably still go back just because the staff is so damn nice! Don't let the fact that it's in a parking lot with a liquor joint and a gas station. They have their own section separate from the two others. However, I can tell you I'm probably going to be going out of my way to get gas at this station so I have an excuse to grab a taco, too. There is seating inside, it's very clean, and 100% family friendly. All that to say...Rica Mex is Lexington's best kept secret for a stellar taco/burrito/quesadilla/whatever else is on their menu. Rica Mex is definitely our new go to for Mexican. The food was DELICIOUS! I am writing this review less than an hour after I ate. When I took my first bite I said, out loud, "I have to go leave this place a review!". Y'all. The birria, AMAZING! I have had a few different places and all were okay, this was the best and tastiest birria I have ever had. The shredded chicken, a must also. Everything, from the rice, to the beans, to the meats, seasoned to perfection. I overfilled myself just to continue the satisfaction of eating this food. As far as the staff, incredible people. All of them are kind and knowledgeable. They answered my questions, and were very patient as we decided what we wanted. Rica was ok. I was surprised that the menu included shrimp ceviche. I had a take away order of the ceviche and a vegetable burrito. My brother and I stopped in to Rica Mex this afternoon for a bite of Mexican food. I saw some of the food reviews and felt is was worth the travel distance to try it ourselves. The location was surprising as it was at one end of a gas station in Irmo and what was exceptional was the restaurant itself. The place was extremely clean and tidy, the bathrooms were also clean and had a nice fresh smell to them. We ordered three tacos each and dressed them out. Let me tell you they were the most delicious tacos north of Mexico. The meat was tender and flavorful with all the dressings freshly made. The salsa was on point and our mouths were dancing with each bite. You should try the dessert as well. So savory and moist. The staff was very friendly and helpful as this was our first visit and our meals were brought to us promptly and with a smile. We will definitely come back as this is the best Mexican food in town...and we have tried many of the others. Wherever you may be located, the drive to Rica Mex is so worth it!
