Beans and Rice and Birria Tacos

I have been a frequent visitor of Tacos Nayarit in the past. This visit visit was no different than all my other visits. The food is always spot on and fresh! They make your dish right in front of you. You order cafeteria style and shells are cooked (corn) or flour tortillas are warmed. The service is always fast and pleasant. I have rode right by because they have been slammed packed the last few times, so I know they are still pushing out a great product. The restaurant has authentic Mexican colors and decor. It is clean and welcoming. They also have patio seating and picnic tables in the front of their building. Go....walk, don't run! If you haven't been, you must try them out!

I get excited every time I get nayarit. Nearit*

Barbie is my favourite thing to EAT She's perfect from her prissy mani to her famous FEET But when I'm in Columbia and feeling BEAT I always get Mexican from Tacos NAYARIT! The food is f***ing awesome and service is SWEET They're the nicest Mexicans you're likely to MEET They're fast and friendly and their toilet is DISCRETE So get your meal in SC from Tacos NAYARIT! WHAT What we have here is quite simply one of the best Mexican restaurants I've had in the whole country. I was not expecting to say that - not even a little bit - but it really is that good. So much so that I'll be taking my Mexican pornstar here if we're ever driving past Columbia in future - which I'm sure at some point we will be. To say I'm a big fan would be an understatement, because both the service and the prices are about the best they could possibly be. Nothing short of amazing. And do not get me started on the food, because it is so amazing that it makes me wonder why I haven't been eating a lot of Mexican food lately. Then I look at my bloated tummy and remember why I stay away from Mexican. But this food is worth the calories - it's just incredible. As opposed to inedible like most Americanized places are. Specifically: The gordita was spectacular. The co-pay was wonderful. I mean Sope, because co-pay is pretty much never wonderful. The taco was perfection. The girl here told me which taco to get and she was right. I can't even decide between the three although if you put a gun to my head I'd probably pick the gordita - like my Barbie, who is a gordita - but they're all perfect. The gordita just keeps all the juices inside (not like my Barbie), and keeps everything hot a little longer (like my Barbie) so that might be why it's my favourite, but they're all phenoms. Service was just as good as the food. They make beautiful looking mangonadas here as well, which actually make me want to drink a mangonada - which is not like me at all. All of their meats are wonderful - especially the wonderful greasy gorgeous pastor and the Carnitas are excellent if a little fatty but not in a Grizzly way at all, in a very tender way - and the carne asada is not that tender but very juicy and tasty and "Fresh Off The Grill" tasting, in a wonderful way. A lot of the meats sit around in their own juices which just makes them wetter and better and sexier than ever. So what we have here: One of the best Mexican restaurants in the country hidden away in Columbia. The reviews suggested that it could be, but I thought maybe they were fake because they were too good. Nope - it's the food, the service, and the prices that are too good! If there is only one negative - and there is only one - it is that the horchata is not very good. Someone said it was the best they ever had? Hmm, well maybe it's the only one they've ever had LOL. I'm not huge on the drink as much as I used to be, but it's not one of my favourites of the ones I've had. However another glowing positive is that the food is ready almost immediately which is not the case at most homemade delicious Mexican restaurants, quite the opposite normally. Yet here they manage to put out some of the best Mexican products and still have it be as cheap as a motherf***er. And as quick as a motherf***er. If motherf***ers are quick, I'm not sure, honestly. So, a wonderful system that they have down and I will be back here many times in my life. I hope so anyway - it's just that Columbia is not a place I get to very often LOL. But if you Nayarit here, you'll never know how good it is.

    Birria tacos, AMAZING !!!!!!!

"Tacos Nayarit" apparently isn't a food truck anymore. It's a standalone restaurant with an outdoor patio and parking, and credit cards are accepted. The address on Yelp is also incorrect. It is located on Percival, toward one of the Fort Jackson's entries. They have the popular Mexican staples, such as tacos, burritos, tortas, gorditas, quesadillas, tostadas and etc. Guests line up at their "assembly one" so he or she can see the the food made-to-order. There are also "torta especiales" available, meaning the protein combinations are pre-set. I had the "torta Tijuana," which included chorizo, frijoles, and huevos. For $8 per torta, I wouldn't say the price was great since I'm from Chicago and authentic Mexican taquerias are filled in almost every corner in the city neighborhoods. With that being said, I can head to Little Village and have a torta for under six (6) bucks. Well, we were speaking of the food scene in Columbia, SC. In my opinion, the size of the torta here was large enough to justify the cost. It was also nice to customize my torta the way I wanted. I asked for queso, cebollas, tomates, and some guacamole in the bread. The gentleman offered to cut it in half for me. Be careful the aluminum foil when you're about to take a bite of the torta, unless you don't mind having it in your system. On the other hand, their aguas frescas were decent; the horchata was a bit sweet for me. I've seen a good number of Mexican restaurants opening up in the soda city in recent years. I was glad that I gave "Tacos Nayarit" a try this afternoon.

Starting off with the chips, hand cut, and tasting very fresh with the salsa that was pretty ok. We tried the birria tacos which were fantastic. The consume was on point. We also tried the Real Mexico Enchiladas with rice and beans. The rice and beans were actually really good unlike most spots. Sopa was great. We also got to try the chicken finger plate for the kids and couldn't help but notice the chicken and fries were actually solid. The shrimp was grilled just right, to my liking. Omg, the mushrooms I could have eaten by themselves! They were juicy and scrumptious. Of course, the rice and black beans were good as well.
