Wonderful service and ambience and the most delicious meal I have had in a decade. Try this awesome restaurant. I had a cocktail on the lovely patio outside and enjoyed a table inside later. The menu is exciting and varied and Mediterranean inspired. Order the hummus. They make it fresh for you at the table. Every dish I tried was a flavor explosion. Fun cocktails and amazing cheesecake and Daou Cabernet round out the exciting menu. Perfect location for a group meal and they have a private dining area for parties. Try this restaurant! read more

Ambiance is 10/10. The design and decor is elegant and inviting. Would love to sit at a table further in the restaurant next time and away from the host/ main entrance. It's all connected to the Moxy hotel bar and club (obviously with different entrances). The restaurant has a cool mood, dim lighting and a whisk of romance in the atmosphere. The food is excellent! We ordered a few starters and shared a couple entrees. It was all so tasty, flavorful and not over seasoned nor overtly salty. I'm nervous to come back and it won't be the same it was THAT good. But hopefully that's not the case. I'd leave 5 stars but a couple things bugged us. Mainly on service. Our table was messy with some food particles on the table from the starters all the way to dessert. Kinda of annoying, but again not too big of a deal. Was hoping it would just get wiped at some point. Also they never changed our plates. Had the same plates from starters to the mains. Huge thumbs down in that. Dessert was eh, wouldn't order it again. Think it was some chocolate hazelnut with gelato? Instead I would have finished with another LEVINSKY MARKET MARTINI SERVICE -- served with pickled veg. So light yet classic twist on a martini. I had another drink with a chocolate disc on top (I think it was a gold coin)? That was good too but not as nice as the martini. We'd like to give it another try! Going for the steak and fried fish next. read more

Mesiba - Rib Eye - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Everything was amazing. Hummus station is must try, the pita was perfect. Loved the ambiance.

Short review: I generally agree with what everyone else says. The food which is Levantine is great. The "wonderful waitstaff" sucked and the 20% auto-tip is absurd. The inside ambiance is nice. I was here early for a dinner and got a cocktail while waiting along with some of the group members. I got the Gazoz (presumably named after the Turkish soda) with fermented green-market fruit, Cocchi Americano (a quinine flavored apertif,) Martini Ambrato (a white vermouth,) illegal, black lemon bitters, and housemade lavender soda which was $17 (originally.) The drink was artfully presented with sage and lavender and other flowers with the green-market fruit in this case being a slightly fermented tasting white dragon fruit. The drink was sour, bitter, slightly sweet, and floral and it was quite tasty. Would recommend it for those looking for a floral negroni. Another friend got the Milk Punch which they liked and the last person got the Mesiba which they liked a lot (said it had a strong orange flavor.) The bartender part of the "wonderful waitstaff" was friendly in general at the end said, "I added the 20% already" which was...different so my $17 drink became $20.40. We 5 sat at a half-moon table which was originally going to be 7 which would have been cramped. We told the waitress we were going to wait 15 minutes for the other people but they never showed. Around 30 minutes later, the waitress was still not there and frankly not paying attention and I had to stand up to get someone else to get her. We ordered our food and it came out soon enough though our group ordered two of all the dishes listed below and she only wrote down 2 for the bread so it took a while to get the extras. She didn't check on us afterwards almost at all and I would describe her as aloof if I wanted to be friendly. The prices below are from the photo posted but I think every dish was a bit higher now. From the Nishnushim section, the Frena Bread ($8/$9) was beautifully charred and spiced and served with yogurt topped with a bit of shatta, a Middle Eastern hot sauce. The bread went perfectly well with their Eli's Baba Ganoush 2.0 ($18) which is listed as har bracha tahini, mint & moshe olive oi. This was a bit different than your normal baba being much stronger tahini flavored with the eggplant being roasted till black. It was different but tasty. From the Gadol menu, the Kreplach ($26) with charred ricotta, hazelnuts & leeks was alright. The kreplach (15 in total) were a bit too soft but the filling was nice with the hazelnuts being a fun touch. The leeks were similar to the dumplings a bit soft. I would add perhaps sautéed onions or something as an extra flavor which would pair nicely with the dumplings. It's the only large plate which is veggie based but at least it's not something generic like falafel. Also in the same section but more filling was the Chicken Musakhan ($36) with laffah bread, spinach salad, pine nuts, & amba. The chicken was well flavored with a lot of sumac and other spices. It was somewhat similar to the one at Al Badawi though I preferred the chicken here as it was thinner and easier to eat and off the bone. However, the bread was better there with the abundance of onions and the spinach salad is unnecessary. The amba, a middle eastern hot sauce which is also present in a lot of other dishes should honestly be served separately. This would be plenty to share and was quite good with some faults. The largest dishes are from the Mesiba section and we got the Lamb Neck which is listed for $54 in the photo but I think is $62 now with Yemeni pancake, tahini, amba, pickles, & fresh herbs. The lamb neck fell off the bone and while it lacked the char from Dagon, it was well flavored (perhaps a bit fatty.) I asked one of the staff about the pancakes and he said in literal quotes "they're just pancakes but I'll go ask the chef" but they never returned. As noted before, "wonderfully waitstaff." Said pancakes were apparently lahuhua also known as lahoh. They're made from sorghum and they have a fun texture with little flavor but they make good taco material. You can also get extra of the pancakes for free (we checked.) The tahini and amba added more flavor and spice and the pickles were the typical Levant style though less spicy than any Lebanese spot I've been to. Overall a very good dish and a highlight and it could be shared between 2. The waitress was for "some" reason quicker when it came to the check. She brought it out and it lists a 20% automatic gratuity. We wrote down 18% in the other section without writing down the total and we were charged the full 20% total without a question. As said for the last time, "wonderful waitstaff." If the waitstaff was better here, they'd deserve the 20% but they don't. Mid 4 for the food if not higher as it was overall outstanding. A 2 if not lower for the staff. But the food matters here more. How about they just include the tip in the prices so people don't have complaints? read more

Yes, it's pricey. But this might be one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Exceptional customer service and a stunning ambiance. If they were more affordable and closer to my apartment, I'd be a regular here. You must must must get the tableside hummus service, you will definitely want more of the bread (just trust me), you also have to get the lamb neck and their branzino had the crispiest skin ever. As for dessert, get the Kisses, you won't regret it. My first visit was in June, and I'm headed there for dinner again next week! Cannot WAIT to dive into more dishes. read more

I really love Mesiba and what Moxy Williamsburg has set up. Great dinner at Moxy followed by drinks at Bar Bedford, the perfect date night! We had the table side hummus (delicious and not to be missed); cucumber salad, roasted fennel, charred octopus and the risotto and prawns. It was delicious and we wanted to lick the plate clean! We also got the Knafeh and the Kisses. Kisses was fantastic and the my new dessert obsession! I'm already planning my next trip :) read more

Absolutely stunning restaurant with beautiful decor located next to the Moxy Hotel in Williamsburg! Every detail is perfect, especially the ceiling fixtures. This restaurant is a great date spot! To start off, we ordered the Frena Bread and Fluke Crudo. The bread and dip were both so delectable. The fluke crudo was such a unique flavor (as were all of the dishes). Think this was my first time trying Fluke, and it did not disappoint. Unfortunately the restaurant was out of Octopus which we were really excited to try. But this opened up more options for us to give a shot. We then had the Baba Ganoush. This tasted absolutely amazing! Then came out the Kreplach and Chicken Musakhan. Again, fantastic flavors across the board. We finished off this meal with the Kisses dessert. I'm usually not a fruit sorbet person, but this definitely did not disappoint. I think ordering 5 dishes + dessert was perfect for the two of us. I definitely need to come back to try the octopus. Would highly recommend checking this spot out for dinner if you're in the area! The restaurant opened a little less than a year ago. Not super hard to get a resy (yet!). read more

I'd rate Mesiba three and a half stars. Pricey restaurant located inside the Moxy hotel. We dined in on a Tuesday night and we're seated immediately. Nice selection of wines by the glass which are all priced in the ballpark of $20 per glass. I started with a Vermentino blend and then had a Georgian skin contact later on. I was happy with both. Food wise, we started with their frena bread and the pickled vegetable plate. The pickled veggies came with our main course, so I would have skipped it in retrospect. For appetizer, we shared the mushroom shawarma which came out with the starting snacks. They were served over a green sauce and with a couple sunchokes. We opted for the slow cooked lamb neck for our main course. Meat fell apart super easily and was almost mushy. I usually enjoy a fatty meat, but this one may have been a little too much. It did have a nice char. I loved the green sauce that came with it. For dessert, I had a bite of the milky which was a chocolate mousse. Light and chocolatey. Quite good but I was too stuffed to have more than a bite. Service was attentive and food came out quick. Restrooms were shared with the hotel and the accompanying bar. There were two gendered restrooms. Inside the men's room, were three single occupancy stalls with one being handicap accessible. read more

First time coming to check out the new Moxy which is gorgeous. The space for the restaurant is inside the hotel too with a great outdoor entrance. You can tell they invested a lot of money to build out the space and it is reflected in the pricing. Onto the food, excellent taste. We had the eggplant, kreplach and the lamb neck. Thing to note, the babaganoush comes with no complimentary bread so you have to pay the $9 to order bread to eat with it. The kreplach you could skip. It didn't give us anything to write home about and maybe it was too soft and mushy for me. Now the star of the show was the lamb neck, absolute flavor bomb and such a huge and heavy dish ($72). You get the condiments and these little pancakes to wrap up in. Make sure you order another "free" set of the pancakes. in fact, just order two extra sets while you're at it and take it home. Take the bones of the neck home too to make a stew. Drinks are meh - beautifully made as now these days a cocktail is all decoration so you are paying $17-$19 for all that. Why did I give it a 3 stars? 2 stars knocked off for the fact that they illegally charge you 20% gratuity without disclosing it to you conspicuously as required by law. You are forced to pay it. I asked where was I notified and they said on the Resy page. In addition - the bill asks you to consider adding additional gratuity on top of that. I ordered a drink at the bar while waiting for friends and they add it on the bill and it's mandatory. No where does it say it on the menu. So with all the amazing places to also dine at around the area - I'd pass on coming back till they stop stealing and sleezing on our tab. I'm happy to pay a tip, but sneaking it on you without disclosing it is kind of bad service in itself. And it didn't help the wait staff are kinda oblivious to you since they know they are automatically getting the gratuity. We had to get up to find our waitress to even order food. read more

This place rules! The vibe is great, it's dimly lit but not too dark, there is music but it doesn't make you shout, and the food is outstanding. We walked in and sat at the bar, our server was also a bartender but that didn't make him any less attentive to us! He was great in terms of drink and food recs, we had a few plates to share and a few cocktails and truly everything was excellent. If they have no reservations available online def go and try to walk in - it's worth a brief wait at one of the few bars of the moxy. read more

We went on a Friday night for International Women's Day with a reservation. We had to wait about 15 minutes but they were great and even offered to comp our first round of drinks. The drink options were very cool and they have their own version of an espresso martini! It was great! All their food was unique and delicious! Highly recommend the hummus special of the night - it came with a hummus cart that came straight to your table and the hummus server really 'salt baed' that thing. Overall, great experience and ambiance! Would highly recommend. read more

Mesiba is a place where it all comes together great food , amazing ambiance and staff that is attentive. I was there for my daughter's first birthday and they made it a special one from the minute we walked through the door. Chef Eli prepared a perfectly done sea Bass/ rib steak and sides. My guest were all raving about how great the food and staff were. I would recommend this place to anyone for a casual lunch/dinner to hosting an event at Mesiba. Thank you again read more

We were pleasantly suprised at how wonderful this restaurant was. The food, cocktails. Atmosphere and service were all great. Honestly the food here was really good. Like I enjoyed the cocktails, I enjoyed the appetizers and the main, and I really liked the dessert. However, the rest of the experience was so disappointing. Service was slow from start to finish. In particular, we were waiting a very long time for our dessert. Our waiter even acknowledged the unusually long wait and had to check on it. The slow service by itself would've been fine. But they also went ahead and charged the "suggested 20% tip" to our bill! Keep in mind: we were a party of two, and they did not seem to do this to any of the parties of two sitting next to us. It was very shocking, and I can't imagine a good reason for why they would single our table out like this. All in all, as much as I enjoyed the food, I will definitely not be coming back. read more

It took me a while to check this place out, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. First, shout out to the front desk host of The Moxy Williamsburg, Michelle. What an absolute gem that woman is. She is so funny and so sweet. Mesiba is actually right next to the hotel, and when you enter, you might easily mistaken the hotel lobby for the restaurant. They are directly connected, but literally, just walk a little to the right of the hotel to find the restaurant. The ambience is very modern and chic. The service was really good. Our waitress would occasionally come over to check in on us, top up our water, but generally we were left alone to enjoy our meal. Now to the meal! The plates are shareable. I honestly felt like they could have been slightly bigger, but overall they were still delicious. We had the : branzino, cucumber salad, and the frena bread. The branzino was delicious! BUT, that had to be one of the smallest branzinos I had ever seen. Haha However, I will give them this, that fish was seasoned well! The cucumber salad was yummy as well. It was in a very flavorful tahini sauce. The frena bread was warm when it arrived on our table and its sauces were delicious as well. After dining, the front desk host of The Moxy Hotel, Michelle, convinced us to check out a singles event that was happening in the building. She really put us on! The space is really lovely. It's in the hotel, but I think it's the rooftop. The seating and views were so lovely. I'm not sure how often they have events up there, but it was nice to see many of the dinners of the Mesiba restaurant immediately go up there after eating. All in all though, I definitely recommend Mesiba. read more

Very unique superb and creative food impeccable service and ambiance. highly recommended.

my friends and i had a reservation at Mesiba for a Saturday night at 6:30pm to celebrate a birthday, and the entire experience was such a vibe! upon being seated, we were informed of a 90-minute dining limit due to a full reservation book, but thankfully, no one rushed us, and we ended up staying for two hours. there were three of us, and we ordered the Oysters, Falafel, Eli's Baba Ganoush, Green Salad, Tuna Belly, and Risotto & Prawns. after learning that the Baba Ganoush doesn't come with bread, we also added the Frena Bread and was glad we did! this was my first time experiencing Middle Eastern cuisine at a proper restaurant, so i had nothing to compare it to, but i thoroughly enjoyed everything i tried. the Baba Ganoush was definitely the standout for me. service was great--everyone was friendly and attentive, though there was a small misunderstanding when we ordered dessert, otherwise, lovely dining experience. would definitely recommend! read more

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately the service was subpar and left a lot to desire. I would not recommend Mesiba unless you want to be ignored by your waiter for most of the dinner. When I sat down, I waited 30 mins before the waiter, Theo, took my order. I had to ask the busboy to get the waiter for me to order, and I had to ask the busboy to do so numerous times. It took more than 20 mins for me to get my cocktail. Theo was very inattentive, and other tables had to wave him down to get get his attention. He doesn't even look at the tables, and the restaurant was not that busy! Now for the food: -the charred octopus was decent, but not amazing and served lukewarm. -the Branzino was also decent, but not amazing. It was also Lukewarm. I would suggest that they don't place the branzino on top of the chilled shaved fennel and fruit salad. I don't know if the dishes above were lukewarm because of the kitchen or because of the service (or lack thereof). The basque cheesecake was delicious! 10 out of 10. When my dessert arrived, I ordered an espresso martini. It never arrived. I even saved some my dessert to eat with my martini. 25 minutes later the waiter comes with the cheque but no espresso martini. To add insult to injury, the cheque had an automatic 20% gratuity. The terrible service was not worthy of 20% gratuity. It was also a birthday, which was noted on the reservation, but never acknowledged. The restaurant does have a nice atmosphere and decor, although the temperature can be a bit chilly. I do not recommend dining at Mesiba unless you want to pay top dollar for subpar service. read more

wonderful food and fabulous service! best falafel in williamsburg! Terry was an amazing server! can't wait to go back .

One of the best middle eastern dinners I've had in NYC. The table side hummus is a must have. I would also suggest the peppers three ways, the cucumber salad and whatever the specials are. The chef goes to the market in the am and then creates a delicious special. The chicken main and the kreplach are both must haves. It's all shareable and I suggest doing that so you can taste everything. The service is excellent as well and they even offered us a very cool tour of the kitchen. My goal on our visit to NY was to check out this restaurant. We came before a concert at 5pm when they opened and there were people already slowly filling up the restaurant. The server was very nice and told us all about the menu, dishes and the specials. We ordered a lot of dishes to share and left no crumb behind. Food was absolutely delicious, from the pickled plate, tomato salad, frena bread, the khinkali, octopus, chicken musakhan, and the crispy fish. The presentation of the each food was beautifully plated and tasted even better then the picture do it justice. For dessert we completed the meal with the milky and the cheesecake. Food is great, we did order good selection from the menu and everything was fresh and delicious. Unfortunately this 3 star review is mainly for poor service! Since we started our dinner no plates were cleaned from the table no water was refilled or offered. Once we complained to the manager (after putting a big pile of dirty dishes in the center of the table) the service did got better. I feel because we were party of 6 and tip is usually included the staff didn't really want to work hard! Good food and friendly service. We ordered the Fena Bread (about 1 order is good for like 2 people), the Baba Ghanoush 2.0 and charred octopus, the head-on prawns (risotto), and the crispy whole fish. The baba ghanoush felt slightly carcinogenic to eat (they grind up the charred eggplant skin into a paste upon which the eggplant itself is placed). The restaurant is part of the hotel so the vibe is more commercialized and has less of the NYC restaurant character. Menu wise for the entrees didn't have many vegetarian only options. We liked the fennel salad (refreshing with citrus taste), mushroom shawarma (good texture and umami), and the very unusual take on baba ganoush (very smokey). The servers were diligent in checking which dishes have added sugar given my husband's dietary restriction. Some dishes we wanted to try had sugar so couldn't order them. The staff bringing the dishes didn't really know the names of the dishes when we asked and brought us orders from other tables. Tip is by default 20% unless you adjust. read more
