I called on a Saturday after I saw a scorpion on the wall facing me right outside my front door! I totally freaked!!! Then I walked to my backyard to fill the bird bath I saw another one scampering up my side wall!!!! OMG!!! I can tell you that my blood ran backwards! I called my (then) pest guy for a total of 3 times and texted him too with no answer until I received an email from him saying that I was due for a service that Monday. I consider this the ultimate in disregarding me and rudeness. He couldn't even pick up the phone?!?!?!!!! I was in total terror and just knew that I was done with him! I looked on the Net and it showed that Merrill was open so I called and Nick answered. He was actually in San Diego with his wife. What a sweet guy! He listened to me and explained their process and that a bimonthly lasts 90 days so no one ever sees any activity. Monday came and darling David came who was so much more than a service guy. I signed up immediately! David educated me on their process and helped me to feel more comfortable. He even found a scorpion that was close to the inside door to my garage!!!! I wonder if that was the one from the front door area! David is a really ambitious young man who really loves his job, his employer and has a sterling attitude. He knew how to comfort this crazy neurotic lady who is totally wigged out with bugs. Just a quick note...the other bug man couldn't control the grasshopper activity here and now it's so much less. Merril pest control came out 8 days ago to treat tiny ants we had in our kitchen. we were out of town for a week and returned to find the tiny ants still in our kitchen. The technician sprayed inside and out. I called the office right away. They indicated they do not have a warranty for a one time service. it says on their website it's 100% guaranteed, but that is misleading because that is only if you sign up for the continual service. I paid 100 dollars for a service that didn't eliminate my ant problem. read more

I was looking for pest control service for my mom so I went to Yelp and requested a quote. Didn't realize Yelp sends out to multiple companies through Yelp messaging. Anyhow, Merrill responded within 10 minutes just as promised on Yelp. I got other responses from others but I was going back a forth for awhile with Merrill. We agreed upon a price and we setup a time within a few days. They promised to be there between 8-10 and they were there at 8am as promised. They sprayed and got rid of the spider problem we had and now I have them on a quarterly basis. Merrill wasn't the cheapest one that we got a quote from, but we chose to go with them because they used the same chemical and followed, pretty much the exact same process as all the others. Calen is the one that did our job and he did a fantastic job. He didn't spend just a couple of hours like the other ones have done in the past, but really took his time to do a really good job, a thorough job, and then cleaned up absolutely everything after he was done. We got quotes from 4 companies. They all used the same chemicals and pretty much the same process. Merrill wasn't the least expensive, but we liked their commitment to their service. When all was done, we couldn't have been more pleased. Calen took 2 hours to prepare and put down the chemical. He then spent another 2 hours to clean up, patch the holes in the concrete, sweep, and put everything back in a better way then it was even before he started. My wife and I were both amazed at not just how well he did the job (this wasn't our first termite treatment for a house) but how much he cared about the job he was doing. I had a worker show up at my house and ring the doorbell and I did not answer and he continued to stand there for 10+ minutes then probably assumed no one was home and let himself in through my backyard gate and tried to get in my back door !!! I was scared and jumped in my car to try to drive away and then see him getting in his van and I felt safe enough being in my car to ask him why he was in my home and at first he would not look at me and then he said I work here. Which to preface my roommate works at a pest company and we have a different company NOT THEM. I told him he does not and who did he speak to and he wouldn't tell me and then said I was supposed to be here which he was not. I drove off and called the phone number on the van and got the owner who was a complete animal to me with not a customer service bone in his body making fun of me that I was " scared " this man came in my backyard ( trespassing!!!) I said who set up the appointment and he had no answer and I said why would you show up at someone's home if you didn't have an appointment or don't know the owner then he asked who's the owner and I said why would I tell you and he proceeded to say a man's name which my land lord is a woman HA. A year later I had decided not to update last year's review until the owner, Nick Merrill, sealed the deal with his erratic behavior. He gave me a 3,000 word agreement contract for 7 visits of regular pest control, which I fulfilled. The contract threatened me with facing his arbitration panel if I did not obey his terms. The contract distinctly said that I must provide 30 days written notice to cancel his services. I sent him a certified letter and notified him via email that the letter was waiting for him at the post office. He emailed me back and said the notice must have been lost at his home, but that he would pick up the letter. I even had the letter redelivered. After three weeks, he refused to pick up the letter, which I found quite disrespectful, dishonest, and unprofessional. The post office has returned said letter to me. He even went so far as to say that he doesn't give customers contracts, even though I had one in my hand with his company name on it. Disingenuous lying. Disgraceful, immature behavior on his part. Unfortunately, Nick Merrill's words do not match his actions. A year ago he told me that my separate termite treatment of $1,000 would have a warranty of 2 years, then $150 renewal fee each year thereafter. I even wrote this info in my will documentation as a creditor so my fiduciary would be aware of this expense, and also so that I could set aside enough money each week to have enough funds to support it when the payments became due. A year later, Merrill stated that his notes were different than mine. I decided to cancel all pest services, termite and regular, due to this discrepancy. He later said he would honor the 2 year warranty on termite control to keep me as a customer, but due to his distasteful, belligerent behavior, I decided that I did not want to do business with him anymore. When someone shows you who they really are, believe them. He claimed he is a "man of the people." What a laugh that is. I guess he thought he could get away with this because I am elderly, but I am way too wise for his scams. read more

They were prompt in answering all of my questions and ended up in my last two companies that I was interviewing.
