My husband and I stopped in on a weekday afternoon for drinks and a snack and sat at the bar. The décor is really nice and they have an impressive alcohol selection. In addition to the standard beer, wine, and liquor options, they offer several cocktails. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about their options, and offered good recommendations. I tried two cocktails while we were there. The first was the Cracklin Rosie, which is vodka, rhubarb, lemon, rose water, and egg white. It was frothy on top with a red swirl, and smelled faintly of roses. It was very light and fresh to drink. I also tried the Threat Level Midnight, which is Mezcal, passion fruit, lime, and almond. This was the complete opposite of the Cracklin Rosie, but also delicious. It has smoky, intense flavors. My husband ordered the Shark Attack, and while it is fun for pictures (it is served in a giant shark mouth with a Barbie leg sticking out and fake blood), he didn't really enjoy the taste. We also ordered the beer cheese fondue to snack on, which is served with crusty baguette slices. This was excellent and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, everything about this lovely place is so damn good that I cease all distractions. Including distractions that involve taking the time to even check in on a regular basis using this app. Anyway, I'm here to talk about Mercury not myself - the overall vibe here is that of a vintage speakeasy. Located in the heart of downtown Omaha, one might feel apart of a whole new world upon walking in these doors. The decor sets the tone for guests to feel as though they are moments away from cracking a case holding a very important role as an assistant to Bond himself. As far as the menu; where do I begin? Each cocktail and libation is mixed with skill - my favorite being the San Junipero - Black Mirror REPRESENT) and everything from their Flatbreads to their Empanadas (spinach and artichoke in the lead as one of my top choices) is guaranteed to get scarfed down so quickly you'll need to come back just for your memory's sake. Mercury is so much fun, whether it's for a gin tasting hosted by a local distillery, a night of karaoke or time being set aside for happy hour in the middle of the week - you don't know what you're missing if you've never been! I like this place. A very good meat and cheese plate. A good Spanish red wine. It has a nice whiskey selection although I didn't try it. The menu is totally hipster and inside a custom comic book. Lovely stop in downtown Omaha. Finally made the pilgrimage, and I'm glad. Classic cocktails and house concoctions made with care and garnished appropriately. I'll note they are rumored to have the best ice machine between Denver and Minneapolis; it utilizes "directional freezing." Charcuterie tray was on point, and we enjoyed the roasted tomato soup w mini grilled cheeses and the crab rangoon flatbread. What a fun bar! One of my new favorites in Omaha! I went with a group of friends for a casual drink and quickly fell in love with the cozy atmosphere and decked out Christmas theme. Stopped in again on our fave bar in Omaha. No disappointment at all. Its like coming into town to visit old friends! Our visit this time found the place packed! Love that too! When we grabbed a table we went right to work on food! We ended up sampling and sharing a goodly bit of the menu: meatballs, stuffed 'shrooms' the meat and cheese platter, crab cakes, tomato soup with mini grilled cheese gems and the flatbread. A truly yummy assortment all expertly prepared and presented. As I've mentioned before the vibe is super cool and the folks are just great. I was really excited when I saw this place was opening - a swanky downtown cocktail bar right around the corner from my apartment? Oh yes! Still, when I was heading in for my first visit, I steeled myself for some of the possible pitfalls all too common to this type of establishment - overpriced drinks, "trendy" (but not tasty) food, and pretentious staff. Thankfully, Mercury avoids all of these traps and delivers excellent food, drinks, and service in every possible way! After numerous trips here, I can safely say it's my favorite new Omaha bar. To start things off, they have a great, ever-changing list of house cocktails. Each has a ton of personality, often with quirky ingredients, unconventional combinations, or lesser-known spirits. More importantly, everything I've tried has been delicious! Oh, and if you're in the mood for something more old school, go ahead and order any classic cocktail you want - the bartenders at Mercury are excellent, and can make just about anything, and do it well. They make the best *real* old fashioned downtown, and you can easily get less common (but awesome) drinks like a vieux carre or last word made perfectly, too. Oh, and amazingly, they don't gouge on prices either - most drinks are around $9-$10, which although not cheap, is perfectly in line with other high-end Omaha bars, if not a bit cheaper than some others in the area. Of course, if you're enjoying a few high-proof cocktails, you'll want something to absorb all of that alcohol. Thankfully, Mercury has some great offerings on that front, too. The menu isn't huge (though it's considerably expanded from when they first opened), but it's got some great stuff. They have a really nice cheese plate (plus charcuterie, for you carnivores out there), and incredible, gooey beer cheese dip. Outside of such bar staples, you can get fancier fare, like mushrooms thermidor (which I'm dying to try), and really delicious homemade pasta. Oh, and there's always vegetarian options available - awesome! Finally, I need to comment on what really keeps me coming back to Mercury. Sure, the food and drinks are great, but it's the service that really brings it all together. The bartenders are friendly and helpful, always willing to offer suggestions, whip up off-menu drinks, or banter about spirits and cocktails. We got the chips and guacamole, two cheese burgers, the butterfly and the jellyfish drink. The drinks were ok but I am not a craft cocktail gal. The cheese burger was the best cheeseburger I have every had anywhere! Juicy and flavorful! I talked with the bartender and found that they make a lot of things in the house. What a find! This is a cool bar. You have options of sitting on couches or at a table which I love. Super friendly owners that told us about their background and why they decided to open up a bar in Omaha. Their menu is fun. We stopped in a couple of times and tried many things. First of all they have 1/2 priced bottles of wine during happy hour. Score on that!! The Tellegio cheese stuffed mushrooms with a brandy cream sauce on top was delish!! The French dip baked empanadas are very good as well...super tender meat stuffed into a baked pastry with melted cheese inside as well, and au jus on the side. We also learned they frequently make their pasta from scratch, and always their sauces. Had to try that...unsure what it was called but lots of delicious garlic and olives. Was a tad on the salty side but enjoyed it. The beer cheese spread says it is a german spread. Not sure what it was made out of but seemed to have a definite blue cheese flavor...a bit too much for me as it was pretty pungent. That comes served with baguette which was good. The meatball sub had potential; however the marinara that was served on it was very burnt and pretty much ruined the sandwich. Managed to eat half of it after scraping off the marinara. When we inquired about this our waiter said the marinara had been "cooking awhile" but offered no apology or replacement. Oh well...not a deal breaker because we will be back for sure. We are told eventually they will have an outdoor patio which will be cool!! Helpful hint: They do have "angle parking" in front, which you are supposed to BACK your car into. If you like over priced drinks in the Midwest (who knew that existed) & skimpy meal portions this place is pretty legit. To be clear the drinks and food were good but wayyyyyy over priced. With a double order of Carrot Ravioli you get 6 raviolis at three bucks a pop. The interior is cool, giving the place a cool feel but if you are there for 90 minutes you can expect to see your server maybe twice before he arrives the third time to hand you the bill. The only way I could see this place being legit is if I was 90 lbs and was on a business trip with a $100 per diem. Also, if you have dietary restrictions be careful because apparently the menu changes a lot and the server struggled to answer basic questions.... read more

The best bar in Omaha no holds barred. The chef knows exactly what he is doing, and the bartender(s) are fantastic. The staff is very attentive, even when the place is packed. It isn't highfalutin, so it isn't intimidating; it also isn't dumpy by any stretch of the imagination. Everything is clean and have almost never run into problems. I took off a star because my friends and I saw a roach on the banisters once. However, the fact that I am still recommending this place should demonstrate how amazing this bar is. read more

Great, fun little cocktail lounge that dabbles in a little bit of everything. What appealed to me was how affordable the drinks and food were. I stuck with just the rather small cocktail menu since I had already eaten, but would recommend the cheese and meat board just from seeing others eat it. I can't lie, I'm a bit of a sucker for catchy drink names and witty descriptions. So I ordered the King Crimson and the Witch Please. If you're a fan of non-sweet drinks, I would definitely give the King Crimson a try. The Witch Please has a really, really smoky flavor, so if you're not a fan, don't get it. I personally loved both cocktails and the staff who checked up on my colleague and I a lot to make sure everything was perfect. You can't go wrong here. The interior is very nice without being too pretentious and everyone working there is helpful if you have any questions. Mercury is easily my favorite bar in Omaha. I'm a massively picky eater, but I haven't had a single dish or drink that didn't knock it out of the park. I have no problem asking the staff for recommendations. They're always very excited to help me navigate my experience without being overbearing or pushy. I think the menu is very fairly priced, especially for offering dishes and drinks that are hard to find elsewhere in Omaha. Mercury's atmosphere is impeccably balanced. It's cool without trying too hard. It's upscale but down to earth. It's got mid-century, space-y flair without being corny. There's so much more to this place than just beautiful branding. Mercury is one of my go-to bars. While I'm not above a dive bar experience, sometimes it's nice to meet friends in a place where you don't stick to the surfaces and there are things that aren't just deep fried on the menu! I love this place for its modern, casual ease, great cocktails, and good food. I like that you can get a nice charcuterie board as well as bar food like jalapeno popper empanadas and beer cheese. I have never had a cocktail I dislike at Mercury, and appreciate that at happy hour you don't just have to go to the bar - you can sit on a comfy couch or chair and waiters and waitresses swing by. The staff are also a good mix of professional without being stuffy - they know their stuff and can tell you all about the cocktails without being overly condescending or hipster. Though I'm a bit too Old Lady to take advantage of it often, Mercury is also open late, which is great for this part of Omaha. read more

This is my favorite bar/restaurant in Omaha. They consistently deliver perfect service, food, and atmosphere despite what time it is. I have been to Mercury four times, one of them being at 1:00 AM on a weekday and the level of service and food didn't change. Whether you're feeling"tropical" or "refreshing" all you have to do is say the word and the bartender will accommodate. Food is hot and delicious. Service is always warm and personable.
