I went here to pick up some patio edgers that I ordered online. When I pull into the section on the outside to pick up my order, I asked where to go, and they didn't give me any direction. I was driving around a bit before i had to get out of my car and ask someone to show me where to go. Its not like there was a long line of cars waiting to be let into the outside pickup area, and I felt like they blew me off a bit. read more

I bought eight bags of rubber mulch and three bags of gravel and was in line at the cashier and her name was Bertha. She started scanning the mulch and I said eight bags. She said no there's more than eight bags there's 11 bags. I said no there's only eight bags of mulch.. she said there's 11 bags..I can count ( and was very nasty about it). I said apparently you can't count because there are only eight bags of mulch. She said you don't tell me what I can and can't do I know how to count. Then I looked at her and I said, I'm going to another cashier I'm not going to be treated like this. I really thought about just leaving all that crap there and going down to Lowe's one mile down the road and that's what I should have done. By the way, when I said I was going to another cashier her reply was, good, I don't want you here. The manager was standing right there at the service desk and never jumped in, never said a word. She was very mean!!! After I was done some kid standing at the counter, I guess maybe some kind of supervisor??? I asked him where the manager was and he asked, what's the problem? I said I just need to know her name. He asked what the problem was. I told him i wanted her name I'm going to talk to corporate, Already sent an email to corporate about it. Not for me. I needed to find a rocker switch in one of those almond, light almond, bisque, ivory colors to match my existing switches. I found the department to be disorganized. Plenty of employees but none willing to help me. Unlike Lowes which has things on display, at Menards VERY FEW things were displayed. Everything was in boxes so you cant see if it is a rocker, toggle or simply an outlet. And what is the color? And their grouping made no sense. They weren't grouped by type, they weren't grouped by color. For me it was a frustrating shopping experience. In the end I left. I am pretty sure they didnt have what I wanted. I seen online that this location (150 miles from my home) had the special order item (vanity) that I needed for a job. I called and the plumbing employee (Naum) was happy to pull the item aside for me and place it on hold so it didn't sell before I could arrive. I don't frequent Menards all that much. Mainly because there's little that they have to offer that I can't in stores closer to me. What I can say is that they do have a decent "one stop shop"-type setup, making your shopping experience quite convenient. I usually go for seasonal items and various items on a good sale like batteries and various electronic accessories. In fact, this is where I went to pick up a smoke machine at Halloween time, but for photographic purposes. The item was on clearance and was listed as a no-return item, but that was cool, it was exactly what I wanted and needed, at an excellent price! The overall pricing is fair and your checkout experience is usually quick and efficient, as you can almost always find someone at the entrance to an aisle, directing you to their respective register. If you haven't been, check it out. When that jingle reminds you to "save big money at Menards", take it seriously. it's worth the visit. read more

I thought ordering pick up would give me assistance. I was told I could drive my car around to the aisle and load it. That was the whole idea of ordering pick up. So...pick up to Menards is really just pay in advance. No one ever met me in the aisle to help me load the rock. read more

Don't expect any competence at this store. The cashier s have zero concept of customer service. I was told something completely wrong. Then I was treated like an idiot and called a liar since that's not the way they do things. I needed wood pellets for our stove. They had zero in the store. Cashier said need to go to pick up and go in to service desk to get the sales slip for purchase. None of that was truthful. Everything they sell can be purchased elsewhere. By FAR one of the worst customer service experiences ever. I order a fence and the posts to match and the sales associate ordered the incorrect posts. I had a delivery scheduled for May 1st and the delivery company they used delivered my items to the random person cutting my grass. When I got home and realized my order was incorrect I contacted the store manager John G. Who said what do you think we are supposed to do about this. He said I understand we ordered you the wrong item and we delivered your order to a random person but that's your fault we talked to you. I let him know yes I confirmed my delivery order and I assumed they would have knocked on my door to let me know they were there. Terrible experiences on several occasions. First the rebate thing is a joke. Had to send several emails and phone calls to get the rebate. Purchased wood twice only to go to the yard and find no wood and had to get money credited back. The final straw was a special order entry door. We purchased two doors, two screen doors, trim, hardware, and several other items. Unloaded them. Started the install, removed old door only to find they gave me the wrong swing. The order clearly states RH but door is LH. Had to run and spend an extra 400 just to put something in the hole I created. My mistake I should have checked when I picked them up. I just assumed they knew a little something about doors. I was wrong. Beware or at least a little less expecting than I was. Now day one post install. Screen door lock fails! Are you kidding me? Was helping my sister run some errands and she wanted to stop in Menards to pick up a few things to use about her home. Never been to a Menards before, largely because their locations are distant from where I live. This one is convenient for the Reynoldsburg area. First impression ... HUGE! Quite a bit larger than other home improvement stores. They seemed to have a good selection and have just about everything you might need. Staff were really helpful for my sister as she was trying to find some specific replacement pieces. I would say that with the efficient lighting in the store and really high warehouse ceilings, the lighting was not always the best. Plenty of checkout stands. Didn't take us long to get through the line. Lots of parking space available as well. I may use a Menards again should I be in the area. read more

We ordered on line at the store in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. The items we were wanting to purchase were listed on their web page. We had checked at all of the other Menards stores in the Columbus area, even as far away as Lancaster and Marion. We saw that the Reynoldsburg store had the items and placed the order on line to pick up on Sunday afternoon. We waited and never received a call letting us know if they had the purchased items. Menards had already taken the money from our account. John called about 9:00-9:30pm to see if our order would be ready for pick up on Sunday. We were told that the only items that were available to pick up were the leaf bags! We were also informed that we had to go to the Reynoldsburg location to have our money returned! I don't understand why your money is removed from your account if they don't have the merchandise you want to purchase and then you, the customer, have to drive to the location that is supposed to have the items that their ad and web page said they do, to have your funds returned to your account? Since every part of this transaction is done over the internet and they have all of your information, why aren't the funds, your funds, returned to you immediately? There has to be a better way to do things! We decided to purchase the lawn bags on our own. We needed them. There wasn't many staff members around. The first one we asked to direct us to the lawn bags acted as if interrupted him and the texting he was doing on his phone! He dismissed us stating that they were through the doors into the garden are. We went to that area and were unable to find them. As we reentered the store, another staff member,Britton, took the time to show us where the bags were. He is the reason this location received a three on my review! He took the time to show where the rakes were supposed to be. The lack of stock in this area was pitiful! Leaves are just now starting to fall! I Use to think this store was great for saving money but with the customer service now being so crappy as it is ill just go to one of the big box stores instead and pay a little extra next time . There east side location in columbus is one of the worst stores I've been in in my life. From even just pulling into the parking lot in the middle of the day and it being almost empty then to walking in the door and looking at the employees playing on there phones to even trying to get help to find anything is almost imposable (unless you walk back to the front of the store to find someone who playing on their phone) Then to top it off they now have a few dead beet looking security guards walking throughout the store that look like the just hired anyone they could to fill the position . With them being the same seasonal guys last year from the garden department or the one you saw moping the floors after a spill that they now just gave them a jacket that says security on it to walk around i guess to stop people from stealing from them . Just over all had a bad experience and will never be back . Which from the looks of the store being so dead and reading the other reviews from several other stores they probably are going out of business anyway and won't be around much longer ? read more

My story is that we were at the store to purchase a product and that the items we wanted were not carried at that store. The Menard's associates advised us to de a special order. We attempted to return the item and we advised of the 25% 'RESTOCKING FEE'. Here is the real issue: The item was available for purchase from menards.com and if purchased there it could be returned. I politely pointed this out to their "customer service' department and was told bluntly that their is no refund on the restocking fee. Only callous and poor business practices would say my future business was not worth $45.00. I'll never shop there again. read more

Brand new store. It sure is. Clean? You bet. Well stocked? Yep. Not really anything unexpected. I went in figuring everything would be fine and it was. I took advantage of a few of their sales. Palmolive Dish Soap, 30 oz for 99 cents - bought four. Windshield Washer Fluid, 1 gallon for 50 cents - bought 6. I'm pretty stocked up on these items for a long while..... I was impressed with how efficient the staff was. Being a new store, of course everyone is very nice and uber bubbly and can't wait to help you with every little thing.....I'm sure most will get over that soon enough though. Pretty much the same as other Menard's: huge, prices are a bit lower than Lowe's and Home Depot, hard to get help in the aisles. I knew exactly what I wanted today, and only had to wander a bit before finding it. Prices were decent, I found exactly what I needed, and I checked out fairly quickly. Well this is your typical Menards as far as layout and products. We've been to this location a handful of times and every time it's the same deal. The service at this location is absolutely terrible. In most cases we shop in many different departments and today was no different. We go to Menards sometimes because we can get hardware, cleaning supplies, rugs, bean bags, and snacks all in one store . We were in the store for over an hour because we were shopping for several things. Out of the ten employees we talked to today only two of them were friendly and one of those was new. Every other employee was too busy chatting with other employees, rude, not helpful, or made it seem like an inconvenience that we were even asking for assistance. A couple employees were all of the above. In one case my husband was in aisle 2 and asked an employee where the hardware was as we were looking for specific bolts and fasteners. He sighed like we were interrupting his life and threw his hand forward while saying "you're already heading that direction, a couple aisles up." Turns our it was aisle 181 which not close to aisle 2 or in the direction we were walking. Another example, my husband had accidentally spilled a little bit of his drink on the floor so I walked to the service desk to ask for some paper towels because it was closer than the restroom. I get there and the two ladies are talking to each other. I am standing right in front of them and am the only customer at the desk. They continue their conversation long enough that I was about to walk away when she finally asked if I needed something. Even checking out is a bad experience. It seems that the employees hate their jobs and it makes it difficult to want to go back. Unfortunately this is the norm for this store and we won't be coming back unless we absolutely have to. read more

We are in the process of building a new home and furnishing with various accessories . Our search for a ceiling fan brought us to Menard's (Broad St)-very bad experience -first told they had 4 of our models in stock at the store-could not find-computer glitch-now it is a special custom order-25% re-stocking if we don't like it. Neither girl who assisted us knew anything about this section-making the ordering very confusing and frustrating. My wife gave up-poor salesmanship-customer service and pride in job. So my new gas lawnmower(Troy-Bilt® 23" 190cc Gas Self-Propelled Lawn Mower) had a miss, 5 days old 2nd use, So I took it back to Menards. The lady at returns ask me it if had oil and gas in it, 'of course it does, how else would I know it has a miss'. She said, in that case we can't take it back. So I told her about the 30 return policy and she pointed to a sign that read no returns on gas power equipment with oil or gas in them after 7 days. I then pointed out that the sign should be over by the gas equipment so you can have a chance to read it before you buy and I'm within the 7 days. She said that she still cannot take the return without first taking to a service center and having them remove the oil and gas. I ask to see the manager who call the hardware manager, she told me the same but only said gas not oil. So I took the mower out to the parking lot dump the gas in the rocks brought it back in. Then they exchanged it for another one. read more

I'm just going to put it out there, this store is too big. You get lost, the employees all seem lost, and Nobody really knows where anything is because it's not "their department." The store needs multiple maps posted all over the place. Maybe they should make all the isles go one way like Lowes and Home Depot. If you are in a rush, don't come here because this store is like the galaxy, it's a lot that still needs to be discovered. This is a one stop shops and they have great sales. "Dedicated to Service"..has such a nice, reassuring sound to it. Apparently that's all it's good for. We decided to go smart this time and took the proactive (not desperate and reactive) move on replacing our aged water heater. We spent the extra and ordered, what we assumed to be, high quality hot water heater, even taking the $90.00 hit for delivery since we don't own a vehicle suitable for such large items. Lo and behold, 14 months later, it's leaking. Fortunately still under warranty but the great part is we now have to drain the useless but still very shiny POS and somehow wrangle this beast up out of the basement. Not easy for an out of shape, middle aged couple but we somehow managed. Surely though, they'll let us use the Menards pickup truck to transport the defective for the corrective, right? After all, this isn't our fault. Blame Westinghouse for their substandard craftsmanship. Get reimbursed from them for producing low quality crap. But no, the 'dedication to service' ends at about the same time their register stops making happy noises from all of the money you've just handed over to it. Your substandard items, complete lack of any actual customer service and meager inventory leave me no reason for me and mine to continue shopping there. The 11% rebate you continue to offer doesn't begin to cover the disappointment. read more

The department with the cabinets and kitchen stuff is the most disappointing and disrespectful place I have ever been. The manager back there who's name is Ryan is the direct cause of this review...tried to order new cabinet doors and for the past month and a half he has not done his job ...lied to me multiple times and also tried to put the blame on his associates that are under him... First thing's first with Menard's; I LOVE that their ad shows what products are Made in the USA. The company takes pride in those products, and proudly lets the world know that they sell things made in USA. Also, I love the fact that there's now more competition in the home improvement department of Reynoldsburg. Hate the fact that there's now more traffic on Broad Street, and that there's only one entrance into Menard's, and that it's an what was already a busy intersection. The right turn lane on west bound Broad Street now backs up so far that you're back into the straight lane. There could have easily been an entrance added for westbound traffic to alleviate some of the traffic entering into the store. Anyway, off of that soapbox. As previously mentioned; it's a brand new store so not all of the staff really knows where exactly everything is or what everything is. For the most part, they seem pretty knowledgeable, but there are still some shortcomings. Their sales seem to be top notch, and on par with what I usually find at Lowe's. Unfortunately, they don't have a competitive product for the My Lowe's card that allows me to track every single one of my purchases, which is extremely nice. Every week it seems they have a few things that are on special after mail in rebate. Unfortunately, the MIRs are for a store credit. Eventually you'll need to spend that money on SOMETHING to fix your home anyway, but still I would prefer to have that money come back in the form of cash. read more

Huge store, much larger than many of the competitors. Never expected to see as many items not typically found in a hardware store, like dog food and supplies. Good deals can be found on the clearance racks located near the cash registers. Speaking of the registers, you have to bag things yourself. Menards. It is nice to see a Menards close to my work and gives me another place to frequent at lunch. This place has a huge layout and is great to meander around. They have decent prices and one can find a customer service representative around. The entrance door is oddly placed as it is only at one end. I parked in the front row but needed to walk a ways to get to the entrance. They also have only one entrance from Broad. They could have used a direct entrance off of Broad. if I could give zero stars I would. customer service is terrible. we are building a large deck and they have been nothing but horrible to deal with. First our order wasn't delivered on the promised day, when asked they said I don't know why it wasn't delivered. Then part of our order was missing. I am not a Menards fan. Too many others that support the military with a discount. This is always my last resort for shopping home improvement needs. On most instances they have what I need in a variety of choices. That's when I get happy. Then I get to the register and get unhappy. The plumbing exterior air vent, that the manager pulled up on the computer, and showed me the picture, and told me the aisle number, was not the correct price. After refusing to pay, and handle the correction at the customer service desk, they sent someone to help. Looked at my item, went to aisle 41, came back with a different one. They had stocked the wrong parts in the correct bin. I left without an apology, but with a request to sign up for a Menards credit card. I was so upset, that my wife(waiting in the car) assessed my scowl, and did the kindest loving thing. She did not ask what took so long. read more

Black Friday Experience. Great items and decent BF prices, so why as a customer does one leave so bitter? I will never return to Menards on a BF again. 20 minutes of battle shopping the rude liberal women to stand in the check out line for more than an hour without a cart. Not enough carts to go around and a VERY POOR management of the check out lines. Menards needs to take a sample of Walmart management at check-out. I have done BF for more than 10 years and never been to one with a check-out so slow and uncontrolled. Take this advice Menards, one line for everyone that comes from around the garden area doors to register 12, where you have 2 employees controlling the feed to all the registers and 4 employees down the register line who control 3 register lines. These employees communicate to send people into each register they manage. Always keeping on person per line checking out with one person behind them. With 12 registers, this keeps it flowing. read more

As hardware stores go this place is pretty great, but as customer service goes, this place makes Home Depoy seem good, which is saying a lot. I've been to this particular Menards at least 5 times in the past week and have experienced the same level of customer service so it was not a fluke on my first time in here. I tracked an employee down who was wandering around and told her that I had some questions about some lights that they had stocked. She said that she'd go and find someone for me to talk to. So I sat and waited patiently by the service counter in the lighting area. 10 minutes later she was strolling by again so I asked her about the person I needed to talk to. She told me he'd be around any minute. 10 more minutes and a guy finally arrived. He seemed perturbed to have to talk to me. After I asked him my question he started to answer when his phone rang. He abruptly stopped talking to me, picked up his phone and then wandered off for another 3 minutes. He finally came back, told me that I needed to call their other shop for the information I wanted. He took the time to find who I needed to talk to, what their number was and the SKU# needed for the product in question and then handed me the card so that I could do it rather than make the phone call himself. So after waiting for 23 minutes I had to go do the research on my own. I'm not opposed to calling around to different places but I can do that from the comfort of my own home. If I go into a store where they have "Customer Help" employees roaming around I would think that they are supposed to do at least some of that. A 23 minute wait just for some phone number I could have looked up on my own is ridiculous. My second time there was fine as I didn't need to talk to anyone. The third time there was also fine for the same reason. The 4th time there I had to talk to someone and they were about as helpful as the guy from the lighting area. The 5th time there I needed some help moving about 900 pounds of stuff and all I got was a lot of eye-rolling and a lot of heavy sighs. If you work at a hardware store your job is to serve the customer, answer questions and move heavy shit plus whatever else your boss needs you to do, in that order. If they didn't have such a great selection of stuff I'd never go back here. Two stars because they have a ton of stuff and pretty good prices. F their customer service. read more

Thank god I finally have an alternative to the Lowes and Home Depot on Brice road (of which I've had plenty of problems), not only that, but the menards is significantly cheaper on almost all the comparisons we made against those two stores. We just completed a new garden fence project, and saved around $60 on the exact same supplies. The service was quite friendly here. The only thing they're missing is the truck rental.
