I'm so freakin' glad I discovered this place. Whenever I'm in need of materials (usually for art projects), I'll come here before going anywhere else. My last good find was a giant box of small white tiles for roughly five bucks. I still have a few left but I've been using them for alcohol paintings and getting supplies here saved me a good bit of cash. They also have used furniture and a lot of home materials. Their stock comes from donations, leftover construction materials, etc. and it's nice to know that these things are being reused and not just thrown out or wasted. The staff here is also really friendly and always greets you with a smile. If you're looking to remodel a home or want some art supplies (paint, brushes, tiles, etc) then come here first. This place has completely changed from what it was originally. Everything in here is overpriced. I didn't see any real deals. They had a display of caraway pots & pans in the from that retailed for $316 and it was marked $300. These were returned items from previous customers. The overall quality of the items was terrible in comparison to the price. You would do better going to a big box store because at least you can return a damaged item read more

This place seemed to change around the time the cool mural was painted over with blah beige. I suppose it fit better with the corporate overlords whose name graces the front of the building. You can still find a few good deals, but those are very rare. The lightbulb selection and prices aren't terrible. But more likely you'll find overstock from Restoration Hardware, overpriced already, that's priced similarly to what you'd find in Lowes. They did have some cheap tubs of sanitized wipes and off brand vacuum bags. Then there's the disorganized shelves with items way past their usage factor. It's worth a visit for that rare deal if you're in the area. read more

A hardware thrift store? Yeah, that's about right. It's a great idea, and there's plenty of useful stuff. A lot seems to come from hotels. We'll certainly be back to get a few things. Prices are not as low as I'd hoped, and some of the stuff is pretty beat up. But it's definitely a good place if you're remodelling. read more

I clean out houses for a living and I always end up with tools people don't have any use for. A lot of the people are downsizing to condos or nursing homes or they have passed away and I am involved in removing everything from the house before it sells. Many of the tools I have either taken to the landfill or sometimes dropped off at the Goodwill. I take most of the clothing to AmVets. I cleaned out an estate that had some nice tools. A table saw and a nearly new tile saw, about 100 lbs of different types of nails and some hand tools. A friend mentioned taking them to the restore so I thought that would be great and it would benefit someone who needs them. I arrived at the Mid-Ohio Restore on Westerville Rd. at 4:35pm. They are open until 5pm. I was informed that they don't take items after 4:30. I drove over a half hour to get there and it wasn't posted anywhere that they stopped taking donations at 4:30. It was frustrating that I was trying to give them something that might help someone and because it might cause them to have to stay a few minutes after their shift ends, they wouldn't take the items. One guy literally told me I needed to put myself in their shoes. I help people all day long every day, and I don't expect them to put themselves in my shoes. I surely didn't think I would have to just to give away tools. He said that I just needed to drive back tomorrow at 9:30 am. Yeah. Ok. I would be happy to take off work and drive back here to give you the things that you won't take right now. Needless to say, that's the last time I will attempt to drop anything off at the ReStore. read more

Great place for lost treasures and nostalgic memories. You can really find some great deals here. I was able to get a stove for $45.00 and it was in perfect condition. There is paint, cabinets, appliances, tools, furnaces, hot water tanks and anything else you can think about needing if trying to rehab a home. This place is THE place to go to for some awesome deals. You really have to visit this not so hidden gem! read more

The ReStore gets a four for existing and doing what it does, but a two for the quality of materials and some of the prices. We'll meet in the middle and call it a three. Some of the stuff here should not be getting resold. I think they should up their standards for donations just slightly. I noticed a lot of doors, screens and other stuff that you couldn't call anything other than defective. In that regard, it's a lot like thrifting. Some of the stuff is in great shape, other stuff shouldn't have made it to the sales floor. A lot of the appliances are way over priced and some items, particularly in the lighting section, are incomplete. One area that shined was the kitchen cabinets. They have a pretty large selection of donated cabinetry and it's all priced really well. It might be good to visit before heading to a big box store, but chances are pretty high you'll leave empty handed. read more

I love going to the ReStore. No, you can't find everything that you need in brand-new condition--it's salvage and donation only, so you not only may not be able to find what you need, you might also find a bunch of really random crap. This past time that we went, it was boxes and boxes and boxes of bed and crib rails piled up. /shrug, I'm sure someone can use 'em. Things that are good at the ReStore (with the caveat that most things 1) will not be designer by any stretch of the imagination, and 2) probably won't be an exact match to any project you're working on--you have to use your creativity muscle here): + Wood scraps for small projects. You're probably not going to find a lot of matching lumber (although the other location on the west side seemed a bit better for that), but if you're doing something small, or you need a few shelves or some trim, you can usually find it. Our latest project was getting shelves and carpet scraps for cat furniture. + Light fixtures. They're not all great-looking, but with a little elbow grease, you could get a basic fixture and make it look nice. + Small hardware (drawer pulls, hinges, nails and screws). If you need a specific size or part, or you want something that's stylish, you may not find it. If you're looking for something to do the job and you're not too particular about looks, check out the ReStore. + Paint supplies. They have new, inexpensive paint brushes and rollers; they also carry used paint, which, if you don't really care that much about the color and you just want some cheap paint, I think you could find something that would work. Paint is expensive, yo. + Cabinets. Again, these will not be designer and you'll probably have to put some elbow grease into them. We got a wall cabinet to hang in our bathroom (which we never got around to, but whatever) because we had no storage. The cabinet itself was on the large side and cost maybe $15, compared to closer to $100 for a new one from Lowes. It would have looked good sanded and repainted, maybe with a little trim added to the doors; otherwise, it was ready to go, and a bargain! + Thrifting adventures. On a recent trip, my husband found a router table full of bits for $50. The router alone was worth $50 and the bits were worth a lot more. The table itself was a bit wack, but what was inside was a bargain at $50. They have furniture, a limited amount of dishware (looked like new dishware, stacks of matching plates) and home goods. I've also seen stuff like organs and exercise equipment. (yeah, idk) + Tiles. They have lots of tiles, they sell 'em by the box. + Doors, windows, and screens. Take a tape measure. + Used tools and tool parts. Recommended that you know something about tools so you can find the parts and everything that goes with it. So, while the ReStore isn't for someone who would find a hardware store difficult to navigate without clear packaging and aisles being labeled, you can definitely find some good stuff there. The money also goes to a great cause, so you can feel virtuous for saving money AND spending money at the same time. read more

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a Home Improvement Store whose proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity. I love this place for several reasons: 1. Visiting is definitely a scavenger/treasure hunt. I consider this a positive because there's a lot of quality stuff hidden in the shelves. Plus it's fun to search. 2. This is a nonprofit that makes excellent use of its volunteers. This allows the store to use its proceeds toward the actual mission of Habitat for Humanity. 3. Relatedly, the ReStore just makes great use of community resources in general. They make it easy to volunteer, donate items, and support their mission. read more

Great shop! I've come here a few times to pick up this or that, and I always wish I'd come in before starting any project just to see what they have. TONS of different items, and new things all the time- if you need an old door or a random tool, they might have it, and at a much better price. Great for crafters and upcycle projects as well, just a ton of different large and small things. Plus, your money goes to a great cause! read more

very rude counter person i purchased very breakable lamp globes and the man who took my money made no move to sack or wrap my items. when i said something he pointed to thin grocery bags and said i was to do my own. When i asked for newspaper or something to keep the glass items from breaking he pointed to the bags and said they dont provide anything but them. First off, I'm not sure many people know about the RESTORE. Or, if you've heard of it, you may have forgotten about it. I had...until, I just got some windows replaced and my installer mentioned it to me. So, I checked it out and it's awesome! It's like a Goodwill for remodeling materials and all of the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity!! I haven't yet been to the store...yet, but I just made my first donation and it was a great experience! It's really a win/win situation. The windows and sliding door I replaced were still in good condition, but I am going for new energy efficient windows. So, i called RESTORE to discuss my donation and they arranged to pick it up at my home (since I couldn't transport it) and they picked it up as scheduled within a week and left me a receipt for a tax deduction. It is a great program! If you have left over remodeling materials that are in good condition (don't let the workman haul it away) OR want to do some remodeling on the cheap you've got to check out the RESTORE!! I'm definitely going to check it out before I head to Lowes next time I have a project! read more

I love Restore. I've been going there for several years and have always found some random treasure to take home at a decent price. That said, I'm not sure who's pricing the inventory. Cabinetry and furniture prices have risen to the point where it's not worth my time to drive there. I spend quite a bit of time at flea markets and when the prices are significantly lower at those places, then there's a problem. I recently visited the Columbus Restore and several items that I've seen elsewhere for about $100 were priced well over $200.00. Just because it's old does not justify a high price tag. I'm hopeful that someone will realize that Restore could actually be pricing people (me) out of the junk market! read more

I've been in this store a lot lately, looking for things I need for building sets for a church drama. If you are a DIYer and pretty creative, I'm sure you can find a lot of useful stuff. I really like the low prices on new paint, and because I'm working on sets and not my own house, I don't care as much about finding a specific color. I haven't been brave enough to buy any of the used paint - most of the cans look really nasty and when you shake the cans it seems like you should hear some sloshing. It seems like most of them are dried out. They do have pretty good prices on new brushes, rollers, etc. I've been pretty shocked at how high some of the prices are for things I would consider junk, but on the other hand, I've also gotten some great deals. I've found that keeping an open mind, trying to be creative, and being willing to do something a little differently than I originally had in mind have been key for me in making use of some of the things I've found here. Another key has been to go frequently and walk through the entire store each time, because what they have always varies. read more

My mother bought a coffee table at the Restore on Wilson Road in Columbus, Ohio, but when my husband and I went to the store to pick-up the coffee table, we were told that a "Red Tag" was not on the table and that she couldn't have bought it, because items are tagged as soon as they are bought and are going to be picked up at a later date. A sales clerk called the gentleman that waited on my mother and he said she had changed her mind, although during check-out she and I were reminded that the coffee table had to be picked up within 3 days or she would forfeit her money. As a matter of fact, we asked several times for the table to be marked "SOLD" because we feared that someone else would buy the table while we were shopping. The sales clerk that waited on us on us April 30, 2013 reassured us several times that he would let it get away and that he would put a sold tag on it after we checked out. My mother even asked him if he added the cost of the coffee table to her total checkout, again he reassured her that the first item on the receipt was the price of the coffee table! Fortunately, the Restore on Westerville Road, Columbus, Ohio, Red-tagged the item purchased and it was able to be picked-up!!! The coffee table matches other items that my mother already has and needless to say that if we have to, we will repay for the item. I am disappointed that Habitat for Humanity on Wilson Road made this a difficult situation, they asked if my mother could come back to the store to discuss this with them; after I told them she lives almost three hours from Columbus and is 74 years old! :-( read more
