Everyone at New Uses is very nice. If they can't use your item at the time they explain why. Don't expect to get a lot for each item because they have to make money as well, but sometimes you'll get surprised at how much they are able to give you. If you need cash right away it's a great place to go. As I said, they are courteous and accommodating. And in the store you're going to find really beautiful and unique items at very reasonable prices. I definitely recommend visiting New Uses with or without items to sell. I have been a fan of both the New Uses store and their sister stores Play It Again Sports and Plato's Closet and more recently Gadget Ease. These places are secondhand store type shops, not quite like thrift stores ,like a step above thrift stores I would say in the middle. The items there are mostly used items and they are at a great discount and you can go to New Uses to get anything for your house, so appliances some furniture ,pictures, kitchen wares, tools ,a little bit of books but not that many, decorations ,things of that nature. I think going here for a lot of years I can't even think of how many but I do I highly recommend them you can also take the things that you no longer need and you can sell them they're kind of like half-price books but for house products. read more

I enjoy popping into this store every few months and usually find something interesting. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I only have one negative comment. I've been coming to this location on and off for over 3 years and EVERY time the store smells of urine. New Uses is one of those places where you either hit or miss. Since we live down the road from the store, it's easy for me to stop by once and awhile and see what they have. It's second-hand shop that specializes in things for your home (plates, glasses, speakers, frames, furniture, small appliances, luggage). It's not a HUGE store but they pack it in. It's basically like a treasure hunt and if you can find what you're looking for-- it'll probably be cheap. The two times we've made big purchases there, we saw it and immediately claimed in. We scored a BEAUTIFUL vintage table (retro, Mad Men vibe) for $25!!!!! I asked a few people after we bought it home and they said they could have sold it for $125-300. Any store that gives me THOSE kinds of deals deserves 4 stars. read more

New Uses should be called impulse emporium, as you can find some real gems for a great price when you are not really searching for it. It is not a place to go if you have an idea of what retro style furniture, or wall junk art, or old fashion appliance, ect you want, unless you feel Lady Luck smiling down on you with that sarcastic grin she often has. I have a nice mosaic plant stand I bought here for $8 a few years back. And some nice metal wall crap too. So I can attest to the money spending mojo that fills the place. The inventory of unwanted hand-me down change constantly, so they are a great place to stop by if you are near Hard Road and have time to spare and money to waste. They usually deal in decent stuff, still in shape, and not to used. At one time they had electronics and it was the place to go for a garage boombox, a travel alarm clock, a extra VHS player, but they have bifurcated that to their electronics second hand shop down the plaza. Still, they are an interesting walk through--lots of stuff jammed in the small showroom--Sanford and Son's style. They also have assorted housewares and other things too. The staff is small but friendly. Not sure what prices they'll offer your unwanted hand-me-downs, but extrapolating from their typical retail, it is not much. I know they won't take old TVs not adapted to digital--cause I tried one time; wouldn't even take it for free. But other than that reasonable denial, I have no complaints. read more

The beauty of this store (and all the New Uses in the Columbus area) is its organization. The merchandise is bar-coded and the prices are clearly marked; and some things are even re-packaged for easy transport (such as the set of 3 pyrex bowls I found there). They have a fun pricing system : for the first month, the price is as stated; if no one purchases the item in that month, a second price takes effect (about 20% off of the original); if after another month--2 months total--the item is still there, it is priced from 40-50% off of the original price. That being said, some of its prices are already too good to wait 2 months for purchase--not to mention someone else may buy it before you get the chance. The only downside is that it doesn't have clothing. However, there is a Goodwill right down the road (6665 Sawmill Rd) and you can tackle the two together. Drive a little further to the Volunteers of America (1824 W Henderson Rd) and complete the holy trinity of thrifting, if you have the time. read more

"My brother and I bought several things at New Uses and got a 10.00 gift certificate. I wanted to buy something today (by the way it looks like new management). I told the man that I had a ten dollar gift certificate, he said it expired on the June 2nd. I told him that I had asked previously about this many times and they always told me that there wasn't an expiration date. He asked me who told me that and I told him Ann, he said she doesn't work here anymore. This part is so ironic, it is 7 days past when they said it expired and all wanted to buy was $4.00 item. I did not know I needed to schedule an appointment to sell my stuff. Since the Reynoldsburg store closed, I haven't really sold anything. I had a table and a few random items. At first, they would not accept my stuff. There was no way I was taking no for an answer. After talking to the manager, he accepted, I sold my stuff, but with a caveat to never do it again or I cannot sell anything again. This was not necessary but ok. Message to the owner, I understand why you're setting appointments, but you need to let your employees bend the policies. They are not set in stone. It's bad business. Since, I had a decent table. I really like New Uses resale store. I am always greeted when I go into the store. They have a great variety of gently used items. I especially like to look at the many small kitchen appliances and unique kitchen items. The inventory is changing all the time, so there are different items every time you shop there. There are usually sales with marked down prices. I like to shop there before paying full price elsewhere. read more

Wow-this place is an unbelievable rip-off! You are better off just taking your stuff to Goodwill and getting a receipt for tax purposes. Today I got $5 for a whole bin of quality stuff! My friend got $8 for a ton of barely used kitchen stuff. Don't indulge these folks! While waiting for my $5, I perused the store. The prices were astronomical for what is basically garage sale junk! $7 for a glass! Really ridiculous. So, go do something good and help those in need by going to a charity donation center with your stuff rather than making someone else rich while you get the shaft. As soon as I opened the door, I was hit in the face with the smell of cat urine. Intense cat urine. Two employees were on us before I could even adjust my breathing to take in the smell. Apparently they like to shop with you, because no matter where I turned, there was an employee standing there asking if I needed help or commenting on what I was looking at. Everything was insanely overpriced! Items are priced higher than retail stores. I'm truly boggled at how they stay in business. I don't know anyone that'd want to overpay for a beat-up old chair that reeks of cat pee. Avoid like the plague. read more

If you find yourselves doing any spring cleaning, and need to get rid of anything, New Uses on Sawmill is the BEST!! David there is the real MVP. Not only does he price your things fairly but he works quickly and efficiently. As far as selling there its a joke.. I brought in a brand new quick pot worth 100.00 a new steam iron and 4 brand new wall pictures from kirklands they offered me 19.00 for everything. This place is hit or miss but I love the idea of it. I think this location layout is better than the one in Hilliard. They have some nice furniture and some decent options. I would rather go to garage sales to find my second hand stuff as I think they are cheaper. This place works well in the colder months and non garage sale times. This plaza holds a plethora of second hand places so this is a nice place to walk around and visit the different options. read more

We were on our way to the donation box when we stopped at New Uses. They took everything but an old vacuum cleaner and a camping tent. Got $60 for some things that were going to end up donating anyway. Throw pillows, decorative little pieces and a few hand tools. I wouldn't bring your super valuable things here expecting to get maximum cash back, but for things that we would've donated otherwise, it was awesome. read more

Not really impressed. I did my research to make sure I knew what I could take to sell. Nothing on the website made mention of non logged items. But yet they will buy and sell Coca Cola. Claims they cannot "advertise" brands. Doesn't make sense. But yet the website does say they buy "man cave merchandise" such as beer signs and such, yet I was told that the beer glasses I had that would be perfect for the man cave was acceptable. Couldn't take clear glassware either. I said something about the website..was told that they are working on it. The manage teemed to be very picky about what she wanted to buy. Was given directions to goodwill for the rest of my items. Probably will not be back. read more

After she painlessly researched my item, I was given a fair offer. I will definitely return not just to buy, but to sell. New Uses is my GO TO store. I have been going there for a few years now and I can tell you that three quarters of my homes decorations came from there. My daughter and I love going down there, and we always find neat things and even shop for our adult children. I've bought tables, chairs, 12 ft Christmas trees, lawn furniture, coffee tables, and end tables...you name and I have found it there. That little store is the bomb...Matter of fact is that we were just there today...All the people who work are awesome: Kathy, Valerie, Dave, John and the others are so friendly....Keep up the good work guys.....We will be back. read more

I understand that they are called new uses, and apparently that means they do not want anything newer. I think when they do not want to offer much it is like a waiting game where they see how long you will wait for their offer. I wish they would just be honest when you set something down instead of making you wait so you will scoff at their offer and take your items and leave. Honesty is better than passive aggressive attitudes. read more
