This is one of my favorite stores in Grandview and absolutely recommend. They offer furniture, art, jewellery, antique and vintage pieces, lighting, consignments, and more. Plenty of free parking in the lot and meter street parking on Grandview Ave. Very inviting atmosphere. You can find all kinds of fun stuff here and it is great to just walk around and explore. I always discover a lot of cool and some vintages pieces that sparks nostalgia. Especially the "I remember that style" and it reminds you of a specific time period. Or even better the odd find or "what is that" or "what do you use that for" item? New arrivals all the time and I love to use that as a reason to revisit to see what's new. I hadn't been in since they moved to their new location in Grandview, so I was interested in checking it out. This is a nice large space filled with a lot of neat items to peruse. The center of the space contains a huge amount of furniture and a whole lot of chandeliers. These are accented by colorful rugs and a variety of artwork. Vases, bowls, and other decor items sit on the tables, sideboards, and more. There are a number of cases on the side of the store near the registers that have everything from china and silverware to art and jewelry. There's even some fascinating items like fossils, a meteorite, and a toothbrush that looked like it had actual teeth where the bristles are. The sales tags on each item list what the price will be on several different dates (assuming it hasn't sold before then). Definitely more space to move about, and things are not as squished into every nook and cranny. There are some really spiffy furniture options (kitchen tables, lounge chairs, sofas, end caps). Some stuff is ticketed showing the discounted price if the piece is still for sale by the printed date. Yes, as is the case for many consignment stores, you have to keep an eye on the piece you're thinking of buying; if you wait too long, it could get snagged up, while you're enjoying a scoop of Jenny's ice cream down the road. I have been to Grandview Mercantile so many times, and I'm surprised it has taken me this long to write a review. But the fact that I mention having gone so many times should tell you how much I like this place. I have seen a few reviews mentioning that it seems to be a home decorations store but that things seem a little old, that their products are overpriced, that they call themselves a "mercantile" but that there is almost nothing in the way of clothing and foodstuffs. People fail to grasp that this is primarily a store that sells antiques and other items that are on consignment (some things that are old and some things that are not so old). That said, the inventory changes by the week (maybe by the day) depending on new items they have received and who is contracted to consign with them. So, don't go in trying to find Ikea and Target products and prices because most of what Grandview Mercantile sells is of much higher quality. We have quite a number of items in our house that we bought from Grandview Mercantile. These range from flower vases to sets of glasses to paintings to other small decorative oddities. I will often walk through, find something that I like, see that the price will drop by a quarter or maybe even half within the next two weeks, and then come back later to get it. I have been successful in making purchases that way, but sometimes I haven't. That's the luck of the draw -- someone else might like the same piece and make the purchase before I return. But whatever...Grandview Mercantile always has something that interests me and makes me want to go back. Right now I have my eye on a small chest of drawers that I hope will be available in a week when the price has gone down a little more. If it isn't, I'm sure I'll find something else another time. So, if you like browsing antique and consignment shops, if you like looking at curious and sometimes just weird stuff, if you're looking for a piece of furniture or home decor, or if you're in the market for a platinum and diamond ring, stop by Grandview Mercantile. I always drive by those big old rural warehouses that each claim to be the biggest antique dealer in Ohio with X amount of square feet. I go in and find myself sorely disappointed by the junk stored within. Grandview Mercantile is NOTHING like that. Grandview is 8,000 square feet of good stuff. While Grandview is connected to its sister store ReVue, the older sibling's taste lie mainly in antique jewelry and the arts. At Grandview, you'll typically see a middle-aged woman ooo-ing and ahhh-ing at a glass display case full of tarnished jewels while her husband stands by and yawns. Other than jewels and art, Grandview also has great furniture finds, but everything is too expensive for a recent post-grad like me. My momma taught me to look and not touch. You'll find some quirky stuff here, like the giant barbershop head that was displayed in the front - the head was later purchased by Collier West and now accents that storefront window. The best time to go to Grandview is during their red tag sale; prices are marked way down during this event. I think it happens twice a year. If you're an uber antique nerd, check out the website. I love this store so much, both from a customer perspective and a consigner perspective. I lived in Columbus 2006-2010 and loved visiting the location on High Street in the Short North, and would take my mom there every time she came to visit. I moved back in 2016 and went to that same location to help furnish my new home. I bought a set of china, a dining room set, and what I like to call "the little weirdo" - this strange little chest of drawers I keep in my living room. I love those pieces and have received several compliments on them. I just love having things that are slightly different from the things you find in traditional home furnishing stores, things with history, and frankly things that are better quality than I could afford at traditional retail. I had a couple of pieces of furniture I no longer needed and decided to reach out to try consigning for the first time. Kara in customer service was so incredibly helpful throughout the whole experience. She had very clear and efficient communication, and recommended local movers who were familiar with the store. Both of my pieces sold quickly (far more quickly, and for far more money than they would have had I tried to sell them on my own). I would recommend this to anyone! read more

An antique store like nothing I've ever seen. They have a real human skeleton in separate parts in a case to be bought for medical purposes only. Other things I found super cool: gigantic bulbs from the early 1900s, a bunch of Native American artwork and jewelry, miniature soldiers from World War I, signed pictures from Toy Story 2, and the usual baubles and trinkets that most antique stores generally have. Confession time: I love antique stores. I don't really buy antiques or get into antiques or anything like that, I just loooooooove looking at old shit. The inventory of this Short North (not Grandview!) store is not only diverse, it's stacked to the gills into every conceivable inch of space. A wonderful feast for the senses! Walking through Grandview Mercantile can easily devour huge chunks of time, getting lost in the "ooh's" and the "aah's" of it all. One of the neater features here is that a lot of the bigger or more expensive items slowly drop in price by date, as marked on their price tags, so you can try your luck at getting a good deal (at the risk of losing it to some jerk who has more money than you do, or less gumption about throwing it around). But what really sold me on Grandview Mercantile were all the little gewgaws. I love little gewgaws. As much as I love old crap, I love LITTLE old crap even more. I almost purchased a set of little metal chickens the last time I was in here. Do I need little metal chickens? Hell no. Do I still want them? You bet. So, there you have it. This is the store that makes me want to spend money on tiny, non-utilitarian, metal fowl. read more

In a blowout sale, I saw a cherry desk set, perfect for a computer or a study area, for $175. I'll gander that a desk of this quality and size could easily rob you of $700 anywhere else. Similarly, cureo cabinet in mint condition-$200. I also saw an old OB/GYN set with foot straddles... for the kinky in us. :-/ I loved how part of the store was decorated in different "rooms," using their own collection. Nostalgia seeps from every creation, from typewriters to fancy chairs, from mosaic tables to odd paintings. I want to live here. Buy, wander, awe. read more

The new location in Grandview is excellent with good parking but oddly, it shares a parking lot with Big Lots, which is a strange pairing. Big Lots is low rent crap, Grandview Mercantile is fancy and expensive. It's a fun place to kill some time but it is wildly overpriced. This is not a "treasure hunt"-type thrift store. The antiques and jewelry sections are well-done and nicely curated but the furniture area features dated stuff suitable for grandmas and the art work throughout the store is universally tacky. They use a weird pricing scheme that reduces the item's price as time goes by, which serves to encourage you to NOT buy that day. Of course, most of us don't bother to come back at a later date, so they lose the impulse buys. Strange. BTW: If you want to consign something with them be prepared for a huge hassle. Your email inquiry may not be replied to for weeks, you have to make an appointment to drop something off and it takes months to get one, and they are very peculiar about what they take in. Customer service in the store can be very snotty. Overall a fun place to browse, a bad place to buy from or sell to. read more

I have a bit of a, well, strange interest in what might be called oddities. And if you've seen the TV show of the same name, yes. That's exactly the type of stuff I like. Luckily, there is a case in Grandview Mercantile that caters to my particular interests. And so my collection now contains a fully articulated bat skeleton, raccoon baculum, and a medical school human foot skeleton. Where else could you find those in Columbus? Don't worry, I've found some "normal" things there too. A desktop printing press in less than working condition got some tender loving care and now is in working order in my studio. For the most part, prices here are pretty high. Generally higher than what I'd be willing to pay for antiques but they often have items that are hard to find and occasional sales bring prices down. And its always worth a shot to ask them to call the dealer with an offer. They'll often take it. read more

The mister put it perfectly - he said it's like somebody else went antiquing for him and weeded through all the crap to just get the good stuff. The quality at GM can't be beat. They had everything from furniture to jewelry, fine art, sculpture, collectibles and more. I love that their jewelry was displayed behind tall glass shelves so that you did not have to bend over to see items. If you are looking for some nostalgic pieces, something affordable or just a little accent piece for your home or apartment, you should check out this store. Be careful as you enter because there is a big step up and no warning sign. I stumbled in and as I left, the woman in front of me stumbled out. I haven't been to Grandview Mercantile on the assumption that it was a lot of super high priced furniture. Not the case at all. I'm pretty sure that the place is a mix of lots of different merchants. As a result there's a broad range of stuff to look at. I have this problem with loving orange things from the seventies. I don't want to like them, but I do. I was a little uncomfortable when I initially walked in, seeing only high priced art as I entered and walked left. But when I saw the orange stuff from the seventies, I knew I was at home there. As I pushed further into the store I began to discover more and more reasonably priced stuff. Of course, most things were out of my price range, but I always assume there is one thing that I want. And that one thing can only be in one place. So it's always worth my time searching for that place. I didn't find it. But I'll be back to search again. On the other side of the store is a large floor filled with interesting furniture. I breezed through the $1,000 price tags and made it back to the bric a brac. read more

We had the daunting task of clearing out 40 years of furniture in a very short time. We had no idea who to trust with our treasured belongings. Pam from Grandview Mercantile came to the house and immediately dispelled our qualms. She recognized the provenance of our items. In one case, she identified two pieces that were designer specific. The prices she quoted were more than fair and we were solid in our commitment. She arranged for furniture pickup and the company was fair and very professional. When I talked to people about looking for a vintage ring, this is where everyone told me to go. And it was a fun place! It was funky and unique and fun to look through! Here's some things I wish I had known up front specifically about jewelry here. There is a set of 8ish glass cases full of estate and antique jewelry. Companies or sellers take care of a case and switch the merchandise in there as they sell things or on a whim. So if you are looking and can't find something you previous saw there, it's probably gone, although you would have the option to contact the business who controls that case. Clerks have the keys, so when you see something you want to take a look at, you just have to ask to have that case opened. To be honest, these rings are a lot more expensive than what I was seeing when I did my homework. Even the nondiamonds were more than I was mentally prepared to shell out, which was a bit disappointing. I think if I had less of a time frame in mind (I want this specific thing NOW), I could have done better than just coming and hoping that I wouldn't have to check back to shop around or anything. They definitely have beautiful things and it was a great excuse to finally check this place out! read more

True, Columbus has bigger antique stores. But none are as distinguished as the Short North's Grandview Mercantile. And though its name is a bit misleading -- the store is nowhere near Grandview -- this sprawling antique store is a true treasure trove for anyone looking for an item from yesteryear. Most of the store's inventory is made up of various consignment sellers. One of the largest sellers, ReVue, almost constitutes a store unto itself. Hundreds of items are marked with ReVue's unique pricing format. When an item first goes on sale, the full price is asked. For every three weeks that pass, the price is reduced. The cool trick is, with ReVue, you get to see the upcoming sale price. But there's a risk there. Sure today the candle stick might cost $40 today, but two months from now it might only be $12...if it's still around. You can get some great deals that way. read more

I had the most shocking customer service experience at this consignment store today. I wanted to purchase some jewelry but could not get anyone to help me. I understand that when you shop here it may take a while to get waited on but I was not prepared for the rude dismissive behavior by one of their employees named Angela. I approached Angela who was sitting at the service desk typing on her laptop. I waited thinking she would look up and at least ask if she could help me. She never looked up even when I said "excuse me can I get someone to help me". She was totally dismissive still never looking up. She finally made a motion with her head and said "he can help you over there". Still never looking up. I was shocked and appalled that an employee would have the audacity to respond this way. Clearly an employee with this type of disposition representing the consignment store doesn't speak well. read more
