This is a very eclectic shop filled with all sorts of interesting items to look at: jewelry, cards, clothing, incense, gems and stones, blankets, and more. There is also a nice small kid section with some fun things to explore. It seems like every time we turned around, there were more items to look at! The staff was friendly- we were greeted upon entry and thanked warmly at check out. This is a great option to look for some unique gifts. Excellent selection of office or home decor. Perfect item selection for places that need a new vibe or updated presence. Found everything from small plants and bamboo, to squishy balls and humorous signage. Also found many interesting objects to add to shelves and window ceils for the AirBnB business. Purchased about $150 worth of cool things and enjoyed the exploration of the store. One point of critical feedback that led me to remove just 1 star from this review -- there was a point when my date and I almost left the store and didn't buy anything. That is, the store is vibrant and peaceful, positive and fun. It evokes prurience and playfulness. The staff need to know that when customers are enjoying the store and making small jokes to another, becoming more childlike in the presence of the artistry and creativity of the store, if they are adults that are becoming more childlike because of the store, they are likely to buy things. Not just some things, a lot of things. The more playful you become in the store, when you are in your 20s and 30s, the more you are likely to buy things you don't even need because you just want keepsakes that help you remember the enjoyment you had in the store. To be specific, there was a moment when, even though we had about $150 of merchandise on the counter, wrapped, waiting for us to be purchased, a staff member behind the counter looked across the store and scolded my date. We would have bought even more things. Instead, we looked at each other and questioned whether we should just leave. We chose not to leave. We purchased the merchandise quickly, and then we left, walking across the parking lot and wondering if we should ever go back. When adult customers are enjoying the exploration of your store, don't crush the vibe. It's a good thing when adults enjoy the store. It means they feel safe and are trusting the environment. If you feel you need to redirect the attention because someone has pebbles in their hand, redirect the attention by coming around the counter and introducing the customer to a different item that could be purchased. Don't merely stand behind the counter and say something terse that brings down the spirit of the customers. Join into the curiosity. Further the experience. You know the store best! We would have bought clothing or puzzles or whatever you showed us next. Overall, amazing store. read more

A unique store with unique items. Prices are fair. The selection of choices is plentiful. This does have the feel of an upscale head shop, but what was Waterbeds n Stuff? Cool jewelry, women's clothing, decorations, pipes, and art prints. In a pinch, there is a small selection of candy sold, probably for patrons to sneak into the next door movie theater. Here's my gripe. I bought a tapestry that when hanging up at home, showed visible flaws. I returned the item to be told, "In-store credit on all returns". That policy is not well displayed. It was taped to the counter by the register. There are plenty of items that also sit on that counter that distract or hide this notice. Apologies were given, but the policy is not recent. I fell in love with Tropical Trends the moment I walked in. You will instantly be welcomed into a world of Caribbean colored metal, wall lizards, Mexican tapestry's, incense of every scent, hand made jewelery from India or Brazil or some random tribe in Africa. They have a table of kid's toys and one of the toys is the squeezable jelly balls inside mesh. They are meant to be squeezed. My 10 year old has bought several of them here in the past and today we went in while waiting for our movie to start next door, she squeezed one once and it exploded all over the place. I promptly got an employee letting them know what happened and that it was all over and on my daughter and she got snarky and said "she squeezed it too hard" and had a disgusted angry look on her face. I asked for a paper towel and happily would have cleaned it up but she then said "next time you come in here I'd appreciate it if you don't touch those toys since you broke one all over my merchandise and made a mess". I told her I'm sorry that my daughter touched a toy that is meant to be squeezed but don't appreciate the attitude about it. She said it's never happened before and that next time she would appreciate if we don't touch them. I said there won't be a next time. It's a shame because it's a cute store but this same lady has been rude to me before. I don't know if she's the owner or the manager or just an employee but she's a miserable person who shouldn't be running a store with hands on stuff if she doesn't expect accidents to happen. Honestly, last time we were there one of those same toys was leaking all over the container before my daughter even picked it up and we purchased other ones and she tried to blame us for the other one being messed up that she hadn't broken. Never going back in this store. If my daughter was the type of kid who ruined her toys or was disrespectful in a store then I wouldn't be in the store or let her touch things, these balls commonly do this..read reviews online. This place is sort of weird. Lots of wind chimes, incense, decorative stones and "island" decorations. I suppose the style here fits with someone's decor, but I just think it seems a little tacky. I can't believe I have yet to do a Yelp review of one of my favorite offbeat giftshops: Tropical Trends. This small import store has a semi-headshop spirit and loads of interesting funk. A place saturated by incense, Tropical Trends also has wares that will please your sight and touch as well. Sterling silver rings, pipes for tobacco only *eyeroll*, statuary collectables, summer wall plaques, wall art, island shirts, beautiful spring slips, accessories, hats, and Japanese decor makes this a great place for a walk through. I have bought some nice wall art here; the incense is Ohio made and delightful. The staff is helpful and curious-- especially nice when I am hunting for gifts for women. A shop with a counter-culture feel, they even have psychic reading for those of you that believe in that, and for those of us that just do things for kicks. The downside is that this is a small shop-- inventory is limited. Understandably, they also do not have a constant system of replenishment, so inventory can be very low at times. An import shop, TT does not have the same products year round; see something you like? Better get it now. Just went in today before going to the grocery store, and it is quite unique! There's a huge selection of pretty stones/crystals, incense, hippie-wear, and misc eclectic home decor. I really enjoy shopping here. I was given a birthday gift from here and have not seen it anywhere else, which makes me feel even more special. It's a very mellow atmosphere with a variety of flowy scarves, dresses, and shirts. Hand made bags are available in a variety of colors and designs and my husband and I really enjoy the ring selection there. They also have dragons and other mystical items there to decorate your home. The prices are worth saving up for (if you budget hardcore) because 1 shirt can run you over $20 but I guess folks are used to that these days. Incense table is sure to please the senses and help clear or energize the mind and they're also fairly priced. Most of the store is fairly priced. The customer service is AWESOME! No pressure, just good, relaxed shopping experience and I think some of the products are supportive of the Fair Trade Movement. read more
