Not only did we get everything we needed for a better price than we could get anywhere else, but we commented to each other multiple times how friendly and helpful the staff were that we interacted with. The standout, though, was Drew without question. He went above and beyond typical customer service to make our lives easier and leave us with an overwhelmingly positive experience. Ordered products on my phone and paid at that time. Picked up my items and got my receipt. At the exit they checked my items against the receipt as if I was trying to slip an extra item. They wouldn't give me back my receipt. I asked repeatedly and was rudely refused . Said since I ordered online I couldn't keep my receipt. I placed an order online to pick up at the Hillard Rome Rd location. When I got there, the order was not in the system. The individual informed me that once in a while, the online orders end up in one of the systems at a different Columbus area store. He would not match the online price. I got home and found it went to the Moorse Rd. store. I called and spoke to someone in the Pickup Order Department. I explained what happened and that do to what happened, my time and gas spent, I wanted the item shipped at their expense (the item weighs less the 5lbs. he refused, said their system never has such issues, and didn't care what the other Manager had said. He was beyond rude and was showing a lack of respect while demonstrating the poorest of Customer Service. In service, we termed this as having their head up and locked. I was in the store a while back. I found an item that was marked down, gave it to my wife to purchase with the other items in her cart while I went back to the car. When she was done shopping she mentioned the items' cost. I looked on the receipt and saw that I was overcharged. I took the item back into the store with the receipt, showed it to the manager. Along with another employee, they spoke amongst themselves about why this was marked down. Finally, I spoke up and questioned what they plan on doing about it. Were they going to honor the price that it was marked? The manager made me stand far away from the desk; while he continued to talk with the other person. So far I was there about 45 minutes. There were a crowd of people waiting in line. This was the most embarrassing situation I was ever placed in. The manager ultimately kicked me out of the store literally with what looked like a Nazi salute telling me "get out-get out". The Menards on Morris Road was close to my house and I've shopped there many times with out incident. This has been a shameful situation. I wrote the company who replied but didn't seem to care. I have been there recently, and they must've had a change of management. They don't seem to be treating their customers as criminals. I don't know how long this would last. read more

Menards is my favorite place to go this time of year! I love to play outside in my flower bed and get my veggies planted. I love to play in the dirt! This store is very busy and you almost need to visit here a couple of times a week because of the turnover in their plants! They have a variety of different choices in soils and fertilizer as well as mulch. I consider this a well stocked garden center. There isn't too much that you won't find here. My wife and I purchased our first home in early fall of 2017. Since then it's safe to say that we have been at Menards at least once every other weekend! (Sometimes we're there twice in a day or in the middle of the week!). We refuse to go anywhere else (cough cough-Lowe's/Home Depot) as the customer service we have experienced at several the CBus area stores has been abysmal. I have met seriously rude employees at both of the aforementioned stores. I am thrilled that finding Menards means that we don't have to patronize the aforementioned stores. Menards sells to a lot of contractors which means if you're looking for something, that relates to a home project, you will find it here. Plumbing, lighting, electrical- it's a safe bet that Menards has what you need. There has only been one thing that we could not find where we had to head to Lowes. I like that the Menards app is user friendly. It's helpful to just pull it up and get the general ballpark of where what I am looking for is located without schlepping across the entire warehouse. The rebates are totally simple to mail back in- provided you remember the mail by dates! I appreciate that the receipts have the number of the rebate that they correspond to at the bottom- it sure helps to keep rebates separate. (Got to keep track of those expiration dates though as I have lost a few rebates due to forgetfulness!) I like that the rebates come back to me in the form of credit to use at Menards... especially since I'm there so much! If you don't use the full balance of a particular rebate refund it's no bother as the cashier just marks what you have left on the rebate card. Any time we've had to swing by the customer service section for a return, there have been challenges at all. Even when we bought a door (where told it would fit our measurements despite being a 'nominally different') that of course, did not fit- the return was painless! Even though the door itself had been installed and was totally not the box. Bonus: The employees that I have encountered have always been helpful. If the employee I have approached doesn't know the section they have always helped me find that employee who does know the section that I need help in. Opposite of a bonus: On a downside there are some brands that Menards does not carry (DeWalt, Craftsman, etc). read more

I adore, adore, adore this store. Renovating my house, I can't tell you time number of times I've been there in the past 3 years. While at Home Depot or Lowes you get one option, at Menards, you usually get three: the cheap, the moderate, and the higher quality, expensive version. At the other two, the expensive version is all they have, and I don't find their quality all that impressive. Aside from that, Menards carries loads of other stuff that you can't find at those stores. Their selection of molding and lumber smacks the pants off the other two - why anybody would bother with them, I have no idea. Employees are decently knowledgeable (not great, not terrible), but that's par for the course at all of these stores now. Lowes on Silver Drive has HORRIFIC employees. The app could be better in locating items in the store. Lowes does better on that end, but that's literally the only advantage I'd give to Lowes. read more

This is still one of the best locations in Columbus where you can buy beautiful plants for the garden now there are lots of herbs, veggies, perennials, and annuals for sale. All at reduced prices and the 11% off of your total. I especially enjoy window shopping at the different kinds of fountains and waterfalls. As I have a pond in my backyard one of these waterfalls would look great! Of course the one I want is the $999 one. But it is beautiful and majestic as the water rushes over one level to then fall to a lower level and continue in this downward path until it reaches the bottom reservoir where it is pumped back up to the top. But, there's just so much to look at and even though the staff were overwhelmed with the number of Memorial Day customers, Mike, the manager of the Morse Rd store and other employees in the main store and the gardening store were very helpful, polite and courteous. I needed to look in hardware for a couple of bolts and nuts to secure our mailbox at home. I had no idea how to locate the items I needed, but our clerk went out of his way to help us size the bolts we should have based on the old ones we brought with us. We also had Mike, manager for the gardening area, place a big delivery order for us. We were told what day they would be there and were all set. (I wasn't even sure they did residential deliveries for a smaller load than they might otherwise get as delivery orders. Our order was for 40 ornamental bricks and 15 bags of top soil. I had no idea how they were going to pull that off, but it seems the subcontract such jobs. We were all set. read more

Will NEVER recommend nor shop again at Menards! Had shopped for clients at Menards for years. Bought an outside light with a red tag on it meaning clearance. It did not work so I brought it back to return. First, they wanted to charge a restocking fee ($ 9.00 on a $ 37 light) claiming it was a special order. It was not. I argued it and then they called management who claimed the red sticker Ed item could not be returned (stated so on the receipt). I pointed out that the receipt prints AFTER the purchase, not before it and that I was never told that. I would not have taken the chance and would have bought another light. Then they claimed the tag said it. the wording was half cut off and black on red is always sooo easy to read. I told them if they wanted to blow up a several thousand dollar / year relationship over a legitimate return, fine. I have better discounts at Lowes and Home Depot's!!! read more

My friend and and I came to Menards to look for a sample of carpet. My friend brought a bit of her carpet to get matched. An employee named Dre was extremely helpful in telling us about boards of carpet we could "rent" and take home to match the color of my friend's carpet. He also was able to show us some rugs that were on sale! My friend needed the foam material that went under the carpet and the employee went out of his way to get a machine to cut a roll of foam for her. He was super helpful and didn't make us feel pressured to buy anything at all. He also told us how to order the carpet online. The cashier we had was also nice and easy to talk to! I only come here during the spring and summer months for landscaping and gardening supplies. With that said, large selections of seeds (mostly Burpee, including their Organic line), usually kept inside early spring but then moved outside for the summer. Vegetable tray plants, like cucumbers and tomatoes, usually arrive late April but I've seen the bulk of them arrive closer to Mother's Day in May. They usually sell out fast so I suggest all the urban gardeners out there to visit the week before Mother's Day weekend. Good selection and price on mulch, especially cedar, which is supposedly better for the home (yet pricier-close to $4 a bag) since it deters bugs and lasts longer. The typical colored red/black/brown mulch is $2 a bag, but regardless with what you get, if you can time getting it all during their 11% rebate events, you can save a decent amount on your landscaping. Great place for bird lovers. Nice variety of bird seed, including safflower seed, 50 lb sunflower seed bags, mix, suet blocks and corn cobs. Bird feeders, hummingbird feeders (including ornate copper feeders), bird baths, limited-inventory butterfly and mason bee houses round off a pretty nice selection of bird and nature enthusiast supplies. Cashiers are a little aloof but those outside are pretty helpful. Not as educated about plants as other retailers but I'm usually not asking for advice, just where things are/coming in. read more

I paid for products. $176.00 dollars. I inadvertently left a item at the register. I Left the store so I went back in. I had walked by the security guard and left out. We made eye contact previously. So I went back in the exit door. Another security guard tried to question me. And that they could look me up on camera. So a negative exchange occurred. They were standing by the service desk. The two Menards employees at the Customer Service Desk did nothing. So in my opinion anyone who shops at the Morse Road Menards. Could possibly be accused of theft. Both security guards lack professionalism in conduct and experience. And I can put my credentials against those two good for nothings any day of the week. This is not a reflection on all Menards employees. But just the two security guards working the door. On 12/28/2022 at 8:30 am approximately. After calming down. I called and spoke the Manger on Duty. I requested the General Manager phone number. He stated he didn't have it. But he did have Headquarters numbers. My boyfriend and I had a huge lumbar order and no one would help us. we were there for about 3 hours it was 10 pm at this point when the gate at the gate then hassled us saying we had double over everything we were supposed and we both knew that wasn't true because we loaded it ourselves and found everything ourselves. He acted like we were criminals and told us to take everything out and stack it again and count them. at this point we were done and I went inside looking for a manger who found out it wasn't even our fault and that an employee printed our invoice wrong. by this time it was 10:30pm with a 45 minute drive home. I have never been more exhausted and disappointed in a place. I feel like I should've been getting paid instead of us doing everything ourselves and paying them over 2,000 dollars. they have a huge selection but it's a mess. on top of everything I had to use the restroom very badly and the smell was so bad it stayed in my nose all the way home. the air dryers didn't work and there was no paper towels available also many of the toilets had stuff in the toilet that had not been flushed. will never recommend this place. read more

One word: LOVE. Yep. My hubby and I fell in love at our first Menard's store in Lancaster. (Thats where the in-laws live.) We went to the store for the first time last summer and wondered why we didnt have one in the Columbus area. The store is huge!!! Last summer we had a deck built onto our condo and we went into the store looking for patio furniture. The only downside to it was that we had no way to get it home (Columbus) from Lancaster. However, we did look around and found some items that we needed for our grill. Now that there is a Menards in Columbus (YEAH!!!!) we've been to the store at least 3 times. We purchased a new storm door (special ordered while they were on sale) and a sliding back door which we later had to return. The staff at the store was extremely helpful and answered our questions. Heck, its just fun to walk through the store and look at everything -- even when you dont have any projects to work on! I was really impressed with their pick up area around the back of the store. You have to pass through security going in and out. Once you are in, you are directed to the appropriate area to pick up your item(s). We will definitely be back to this store. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!!! So my husband and I purchased carpet from here on 9/25/20 which we had an installer install it that day while we was at work. The install called to let my husband know that there where stamps on the carpet. Got ahold of menards they waited us to have carpet pulled up and brought back. We said we should have to pay to have it taken up that they could have someone. Since we didn't want to do that on 10/5/20 they wanted me to fill out paper to get refund. So all this time as went by ive called several times to not get an answer. On 1/20/21 I got a letter from corporate saying I need to tear carpet up bring back and have installed again. Ran up to Menards to pick up some stuff that was on sale and really had a hard time finding it. I saw plenty of employees but the first two I asked for help couldn't help me locate what I was looking for. If you have something on sale, it shouldn't take three employees to locate it. The store is large, expansive, and has a wide variety of items. The place is clean and modern when compared to Lowes and Home Depot. Employees were generally friendly but didn't know their inventory and were unable to offer reliable advice on a dehumidifier. I come here for their sale items, not because I like shopping here. While not an issue this trip, make sure you keep your receipts, they do not store them electronically and will issue store credit at their current price. read more

I was in serious need of another AC unit. I paid online via Menards website for same day delivery. The updates on the website did not match or inform me about who was delivering or ETA. It said shipped! Then it said picked up by guest. I didn't pick it up. I emailed immediately, no response. I called at 5:35 and was told the store was closed. Store layout. I'd start with the words confusing, unpredictable, frustrating and infuriating. There is no logical layout. To buy hardware for mounting a steel cable I had to visit 3 different departments in various spots in the store. Sure, they have a little bit of everything. But in reality, they just have a little bit. Their hardware selection is basic at best. Items are not stocked in the places they should be. I had to hunt through over 40 bins to find the 1/2" galvanized washers I needed because they weren't in the right spot. How about the quality of all this cheap hard to find stuff? Complete utter garbage. Speaking of garbage, the store is a mess. The parking lot is a mess as well. And on to the the worst part of this store. The employees. There seem to be hundreds of them. They wander around like zombies looking for more things not to do. There are ZERO knowledgeable employees. Asking the simplest of questions can turn your voyage into a Tolkein-esque quest. I unfortunately lost my car key in the depths of this mega store-nightmare, and just politely asking an employee, who appeared to be the front manager for assistance was insane. The guy says "We don't got no keys" and walks away. I asked him if I left my card to please give me a call if the key turned up. He said "Uh, well, I can try" and walked away without taking my card. I've been to this store a half dozen or so times out of convenience and have regretted it EVERY time. It is a delusion that you can save any time in that place over shopping a few different small stores, or hitting up Lowes or Home Depot. You get what you pay for regardless. Menards is the one stop home improvement Walmart. They have too much of a variety of categories at a higher price. You never put every ornament you own on the Christmas tree. They clog the store with everything. I HATE that they do not honor a military discount. They do have a reluctant return policy. They reluctantly hand you your money back. I buy a sale item I desire. Scan the barcode for who sells it. Take the receipt to that home improvement store who matches the price, and then gives a military discount. Menards won't match that. Beware many of the best deals involve a re-bait process that adds an extra step to save money. I tend to shop at this location for outdoor and landscaping products due to the convenience to my house. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Words can't express how happy I am to finally have commerce back at the Northland Mall site. Columbus n00bs may not realize it, but up until the late 1990s, Northland Mall was THE place to shop in Columbus. Then Easton and Polaris happened, and stores started leaving, and it got a reputation for crime before finally shutting its doors around 2002. It was mostly demolished and the land sat empty for a while. Some of the buildings were developed into offices, but apart from a rebuilt Taco Bell and a small credit union, there was no reason for anyone to go there. Until... now. Menards makes a striking impression up front, with its facade of exposed timber and a row of windows to show off the selection of lighting inside. The entry is much more open and welcoming than your typical Lowe's or Home Depot, and I've been greeted warmly each of the three times I've been there so far. Menards seems to have about the same selection of home-improvement items that your typical big-box HI store would have, including a large outdoor garden center, appliances, etc. In addition, there's also a small grocery section, which I reckon will be convenient when I need, say, both a garden hose and a gallon of milk. All the prices I've seen so far have been reasonable... I don't know if I "saved big money" on my first big trip, but it seemed about the same as my usual Lowe's shopping spree. Checking out is a different experience. You push your cart into a little cubby next to the cashier (who's standing on the same side of the counter as you), and he or she will unload it for you while you wait at the other end to pay and bag your items. I like it. I'm especially excited about one thing I saw at Menards: A self-serve propane-tank dispenser! No more waiting for sluggish gas-station employees to trade out your tank while the burgers wait... you can trade in or buy new via the machine. Best idea ever. If I had to come up with one thing I didn't like about Menards so far, it's that you must enter on one end and exit at the other. So if you park in front of the entrance, you have a long hike back to your car when you exit. No biggie though. The best thing about Menards is that it's exactly 0.9 miles from my house. LOVE this place. They have everything you might ever need ever and at a great price. It's a huge well organized store that is clean with staff that actually wants to help you. The first time I went to a Menards was in 2002 in Town and Country on East Broad. I was so sad when they closed! Now I am so happy they came back. The Morse Rd. location is perfect for the neighborhood. They have great weekly sales as well as red tag clearance all over the place. I bought the Rubbermaid resin 7 x 7 storage shed from this Menard's on 8/5/14. The sales associate brought up the Menard's credit card to me four times. After the fourth time, in a desperate effort to avoid listening to his pitch yet again, I told him that I really was not going to change my mind and please don't ask me again. He finally dropped it. Later I asked what kind of tools I would need to put the shed together. Neither the person helping me nor the shipping manager knew. I provided my email address and they assured me someone would let me know. I asked for an email to follow-up but they declined to provide one and of course, they never emailed me with the necessary info, which is seemingly not available anywhere online either. For delivery, they said I had to be home to accept. They then gave me a 5 hour window, from 7 am -12 pm, in fact proving that the cable company is not the absolute worst with their terrible four-hour windows. I had to take the entire day off of work. When they still had not showed by noon, I called and was told the truck "Got a late start" and would "Probably be there in 40 minutes." Did they get a five hour late start? Twenty minutes later they called and said it would be "About another forty minutes." They had my phone number on file but did not bother to call me to let me know any of these details that would have at least partially freed up my day. They turned up at 1 pm. I should mention that I live less than 5 miles away. I helped the guys unload the shed. My favorite part was when we discovered they did not include the bolts/screws/assembly pieces/parts or the assembly manual. Is that not ridiculous?! What a complete joke! I called and told them they could just go ahead and take the shed away and give me a refund because I was done dealing with it. I'm going to Lowe's. I do feel I should add: Everyone I spoke to in the store and on the phone was very nice and made the appearance of being helpful. Menards store itself is probably a 3 or 4 star... it's huge and carries so many things! It's not just home improvement and yard, but also pet supplies, some groceries, and more. The staff was courteous, the store was clean and well-lit, and there were good prices on some items (on the other hand - some items we needed were $15-20 more than Lowe's. So I would check what I wanted specifically before thinking everything here is cheaper). The part that was unsatisfactory about my first visit to Menards was the experience itself. My husband and I were in search of a specific item that we saw in an ad and that was not carried by the other home improvement stores in the area (so another positive is that Menards does carry it!). It took no less than 2 hours to complete what, theoretically, should have been a simple task: Find item, pay for item, leave. The store's size worked against it in that we couldn't find the item after circling the store ourselves, and there is no map. (We also were just curious to check out the store, so we were browsing a bit as we went). So we asked three separate employees where to find it. All were very polite but turned out to have no idea - but didn't say so. They gave us specific sounding directions that were completely wrong. We ended up in a 20 minute+ wait at the customer service desk, where the desk employee finally knew the correct answer. It turned out to be an item that needed to be ordered and then picked up around back in the exterior part of the store. Ok, great. We figured it would be smooth sailing once we got the order in. Yeah... no. The person who took our order first messed it up, putting in the wrong items. When we finally got that corrected, we were sent to the register to pay with a slip that listed what we wanted. The cashier rang us out, but declined to return the paper to us. So we headed around back in our car with just the receipt, where we found a gate to the yard with a security guard who checks that you have paid before you can enter to pick up your purchases. We waited in line, and when it was our turn, discovered that the cashier should have given us the slip. The security guard was very frustrated, saying we couldn't enter without the slip and that our receipt wasn't good enough. We explained it was our first time here/didn't know the process and the cashier had told us to take the receipt around back - meanwhile, there is no way for us to turn around, since we were between a gate and a line that included a giant semi truck. He kept paging the front, but no one answered. He finally agreed to let us in based on the receipt (which did list the item and item number and said pick up next to it). We thanked him. Well... it turns out the item we needed was right inside the gate, so as we got out to load it into our vehicle, I clearly hear the guard telling the next driver, "Those people didn't bring the slip around like they are supposed to...." We had pretty much had it at this point. I am not sure if this was an off day, or if better training is needed, or what. I could have overlooked any one of these things, but all together, it doesn't seem worth bothering to go back. read more
