I got the pot roast sandwich and I could have sworn it was about 3 pieces of beef jerky on that bread. Also got the vegetarian chili. The chili had a great flavor but the tomatoes were so big that is all you got on a spoon. Other people in my group had the same experience food wise. Except for one that had the hummus. It's about $10 and comes with a side item. The sandwich is kind of heavy so a side salad goes good with this. It tasted much like a regular cheesesteak as best as I could remember. This place is very trendy. The food is fresh with vegan options. I had a salad, added roasted chicken. It came with red wine vinaigrette but just to be sure I didn't ruin a good thing, I ordered vegan ranch as well. The ranch was sub par, but the vinaigrette was delicious. I got there a bit before my friend and the staff was super friendly and let me sit before ordering. The bartender (i think owner?) answered all my questions and let me sub my side for a small upcharge. The service overall was great. They do the style where you order at the bar and they bring the food out to you. I got the hoffner with a side of hummus. My sandwich was perfect. The bread was toasted perfectly and the horseradish was flavorful but subtle. The brisket was tender but not overly juicy so my sandwich was toasty and not soggy. The seasonal collection included one of my fave cold weather concoctions-bourbon with warm apple cider. Melt's version is called, Bonfire Brew. I was bewitched!! Delish! My counterpart chose the Hoffner and we both had order envy, so we split and shared our sandwiches. Perfect balance of flavor with texture. Good stuff. The food was rich with good flavors. (Maybe slightly too much salt for my taste on the veggie cheesesteak). After the meal my partner and I both very comfortable and our bodies felt nourished. It's nice to have an option for healthier and not meat centric dining. Personally, I do not enjoy the interior aesthetic but I will say the open layout is really nice atmosphere for eating. I was excited to try Melt Revival as it had switched over hands in the past few years and the original owners had, literally, revived the place. I recently went vegetarian so I had been hunkering for some good veggie alternatives that still got my taste buds off. My partner and I shared the tofu pad thai and seitan cheesesteak take. I was surprised at how much the cheesesteak actually tasted like a good, ol fashioned calzone (not exactly the cheesesteak taste I was expecting--but good!). My only feedback was that it seemed really salty and left me chugging the water left at our table. The pad thai was good, but I will say the sides were what blew me away. Usually I'm not a slaw person but get the slaw here. It's super crisp, fresh and delicious. The red potatoes stole the show for me, and the dipping sauce it came with. Overall, I felt good after eating, the service was great, but Melt still left me yearning more. I think being so close and open to the bathrooms also weirded me out, there's definitely no privacy there, but not a dealbreaker. Maybe a second visit will do the trick. read more

After a mediocre experience the last time I was at Melt, I equated those hiccups to the growing pains of a new location and gave it another shot. I'm glad I did. The ambiance is casual, comfortable, and while it definitely has a more modern vibe than its previous location, it still holds a nice charm. The natural lighting in this space definitely helps out too. My brother and I sat at the bar to avoid sitting next to a herd of children that were being left to their own devices (I didn't even know they allowed children in Northside!). I ordered the Verde Chicken (Sliced roasted chicken breast, artichoke, zucchini, sun-dried tomato, pepita basil pesto, and provolone, with a balsamic drizzle, baked on flatbread, with fresh arugula after bake) with the chips/hummus for my side. The sandwich was delicious! The pesto definitely overpowered many of the other flavors and I was 100% okay with that. The slight crunch of the flatbread mixed with the gooey texture of the melted cheese provided the perfect consistency to each bite. The red pepper hummus with tortilla chips was the perfect side and provided a nice cool contrast to the sandwich. Melt is without a doubt, the best go-to vegan/vegetarian lunch spot in the city, but it's also a great spot for meat-eaters alike. Can't venture up to Northside? Meh is the perfect word to describe our Melt experience. I'd been to the old Melt both in person and for take-out and loved both. This was my first time at the new location. My sister and I walked in and there were two women waiting to be seated ahead of us; a group of 4 guys who I assume were in a band because there is no other reason to look like you fell out of a bad 80's movie, pushed past us and the other two women to go greet their girl who was a bartender or hostess, I'm not sure and immediately sat down. After waiting a few more minutes my sister and I were taken to a table. Our server greeted us and took our order quickly but it was a good 20-30 minutes before our sandwiches came to the table. First, my open-faced, flat-bread sandwich was a pizza. Call it a pizza. It was edible but needed a lot of salt and pepper and isn't something I'd order again. Previously I'd ADORED it. For a place known for it's flavourful food, everything was insanely bland. My sister got the kraut for her Rachel on the side and I gave it a try--it literally tasted of nothing. I did not know that was even possible for sauerkraut. It didn't taste like any slaw or pickle or kraut. She also had to salt her side of mac and cheese which wasn't creamy or cheesy, but dry. She left most of her sandwich as it again was bland and dry. When our food came we'd asked our server if we could have our checks because it was lunch time and we needed to go and she sort of just sighed as if to say, yea I know it's really slow I'm sorry. The server was very nice and I can't fault her for anything, but the food was not worth coming back for at all. It's a shame because it was a funky little place with good food. For starters, the atmosphere is great. Quaint, coffee shop vibes with modern artwork and color. I ordered the 1/2 salad 1/2 sandwich combo and LOVED both of them. The revival bowl with chicken was fresh and tasty with a sweet peanut sauce. The "Rachel" sandwich had fresh sauerkraut, melted Swiss, and turkey with a super flavorful sauce (similar to 1000 island dressing). Everything at Melt Revival is better than expected. Banh mi sandwich was a perfect balance of spice and vegetables and crunch. This describes every other dish as well. Pad Thai Wrap with chicken was freshly cooked chicken breast surrounded by a variety of delicious green things and carrots with peanut sauce. Chips and salsa were as good as any chips and salsa anywhere. The real revelation was Buffalo Cauliflower! Why eat Buffalo wings when Buffalo cauliflower is actually better and you can eat more of it without feeling guilty? We had it delivered because of the pandemic and paired it with our own wine - a chardonnay from my basement which was a perfect match. I just moved to Cincy about a month ago, but you better believe I've already made a Melt stop. This time around, I had a Veggie Cheesesteak - for an extra $2.25, you can upgrade your side from Sunchips, so I tried the Roasted Herbed Potatoes. They also had a display of baked goods at the counter, so I ended up with a cupcake with peanut butter frosting. Very yummy food! The interior seems like it could use a bit of a facelift - definitely eclectic! :-P I don't love the neighborhood. The actual street it's on seems ok, but I walked around a little bit to some of the neighboring streets and it definitely seemed less than ideal. read more

I haven't been back to Melt in years, since before they moved to their new location. I finally went back yesterday for lunch, and I'm glad I did because the service and speed has greatly improved! I'll be adding this back into the usual lunch rotation. The new location is super cute and very on-brand for Molly Wellmann. Mod, colorful, and eclectic. I kind of liked it when they were in an old Northside building with the back patio, but this new location is nice as well. They even have someone to greet you at the door and a bar area. I haven't tried any of their cocktails, but I'll be coming back for that later! Their half sandwich, half soup special for $12 is a really great deal. I left feeling really full and like I got a good value for my money. The soup yesterday was a corn chowder, which was delicious and fresh. The verde chicken sandwich I got with it was the bomb! I like that they have quite a few meat options on the menu now for meat eaters. The buffalo cauliflower were also good, and I think even my carnivore husband would love these as an alternative to buffalo wings! Overall, a fantastic lunch stop with great service. I try to vary what I get, but I almost always end up with one of the following: The Joan of Arc (brisket flatbread), Vegetarian Cheesesteak (with seitan), The Hoffner or an Apple Beet Salad (add chicken).
