Emily has taken the time to get my box back in order and has gone above and beyond and I'm so grateful because having my medication on time and in a timely manner is important to me. And she makes her patients priority. I wrote a nasty review along time ago because I was pissed off and I really wish I could take it down because it's not her fault that there's a virus going around and so it's a different way of doing things and she has really helped make everything work out how it needs to. Melrose pharmacy is a charming locale, so long as you enjoy retro-tchotchkes and candy. With pharmacies, it is with service and competent fulfillment of your 'script that the rubber meets the road. I never got to do business with them, sadly, because of the following: --2 bungled phone calls, one where I was placed on hold for 15 minutes and forgotten when calling in about having a compounded medication made. The 2nd phone call, the tech who took the call couldn't answer my questions competently. --Each time I spoke to somebody, the price for the Rx increased a few dollars. --Finally I drove to the pharmacy to get more information in person, and had to wait while the counter person spent far too long socializing with other people who didn't appear to be transacting any pharmacy business. I finally interrupted the party, and I was boredly given a 3rd price for the prescription - higher than the previous 2 quotes - and was told that the person who could answer my other questions was unavailable. I asked if this person could call me upon his return, and was told I would have to call back. I was handed a marketing pamphlet for my trouble. At which point I immediately took my business to another compounding pharmacy in North Phoenix. Casual business style is fine so long as it doesn't devolve into sloppiness and overt favoritism of your friends over new customers. The proprietors are welcome to contact me. read more

Unscrupulous, unethical. Despite stating that I needed a new bacth of medication, they gave me the compunded medications made 2 months prior that had been sitting on their shelf and no longer were effective. They forget to log called in refills and then tell you that it was never called in. Then they tell you that you are lying about having heard them being called in. They don't call when you order medications and there is no refill. Added to that, as they don't call when the medication is ready, you waste a week without getting any medications. read more

I try and love this place, but they always run short. I just went in after a 10 minute hold on the phone and decided it would probably just be faster that way. As that was true, I got them ordered and the gentleman said it would be 5 minutes. I had a few things to do in the plaza across the street so I said I would be back. About 20 minutes later I arrive and as I walk in he lets me know that he doesn't have enough to fill the order and they would be getting some more, his words "uhhhhm today, just some point today". This has happened with a previous prescription of mine and to get it switched to another pharmacy was a nightmare. I thought they would be able to fill some heavy duty ibuprofen but they couldn't even pull that off. Such a bummer considering it's a 5 minute walk from my house and I love to support local businesses but unless the communication within this place grows I suggest you bring your business to a different pharmacy read more

This is easily the most inefficient place of business that I have ever dealt with. Having a nasty rash, one that looked to be around for a while, the triage nurse at my specialist's office faxed a prescription to CVS. About an hour later, I got a call from CVS saying that would be unable to fill it and that they would need to send it to a compounding pharmacy. The one closest appeared to be Melrose Pharmacy. I was very pleased. I had never been in there but tend to like the Melrose in general and always like to support local businesses. A couple of hours later I called to get status and they had no knowledge of anything being faxed in. I called CVS and they faxed it again.Calling Melrose back, they acknowledged receipt but said that they were backed up and it would be ready the next morning. Fair enough. Next morning they said it would be done by the end of the day. Not waiting for a call, I drove up there 15 minutes before closing. After a long wait (all visits and phone calls seem to involve long waits) the Pharmacist told me that they lacked one of the ingredients so it would have to be tomorrow. I should point out that I NEEDED this stuff, I was itching like crazy. I did pick it up the next day, though it was ready much later in the day than they had said. When I got there there was lengthy drama concerning the insurance and their computers. At one point I made it clear to the Pharmacist that I would pay the full cash price if it meant getting my medication. Three refills later it never got any better. I made a point of calling in for the refills 3-4 days before I needed it but they just seemed to eat up the available time. Once I called it in on a Tuesday and got a phone call from the Pharmacist at 4:30 on Friday telling me that they (again) lacked an ingredient and needed to call my doctor. AT 4:30 ON FRIDAY. They could have figured this out days earlier but apparently it sat on a shelf for two days for the Phamacist to look at due to the insurance issues. Yesterday was the last straw, again they lacked an ingredient and wanted to call to get tmy doctor to OK a substitution but claimed that they did not have the doctor's number. I asked the guy (he said he was a compounder) why I was having all of these problems. He got off the phone then came back and offered the opinion that the insurance was requiring them to charge too low a price, that they weren't making any money on me, so they were not giving me any priority. At this point I called the doctor's office and got the prescription sent to a different compounding pharmacy, at 44th Street and Camelback. Working with them was a dream and it was ready in less than 24 hours. They could have had it sooner but I was not in a rush at that point. The sad thing is that I really wanted to like Melrose Pharmacy. I even considered the "I buy my drugs at Melrose Pharmacy" t-shirts while I was waiting the first time.. The people were always vary patient and very nice. They just could not get anything done. read more

I go here frequently, ok really only once a month or so...I transferred my prescription here from Walgreens because we had some compounding needs and they could accommodate, also I like that they are local and not a chain...but... other reviews have commented on inefficiency and yes it is very very true! unfortunately they are just not that organized - service is hit or miss, generally decent, but only a few pharmacy techs are stellar. also they have restrictive hours - i always need my bc immediately -because i never plan ahead, hahaha- and they are not open on sundays. the interior is cute and tries hard to be historical, like the surrounding neighborhood the pharmacist, teresa is a doll and i think she may be the reason i drive a little further to support her business. so if you live or work close-by, they will easily fit into your routine, otherwise you will question your sense of commitment to local businesses, like me! read more

I had a wonderful experience @ Melrose Pharmacy this week. Teresa went above and beyond, and really made what was a terrible experience at Walgreens all better! :) I highly recommend getting your prescriptions filled there if your insurance will cover it (ours won't..... which is unbelievable). They are nice, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. When we get better insurance we will be transferring all our scripts there. In a city where good customer service is as rare as snow in July, this place exceeded my expectations. Thank you! read more

Melrose Pharmacy is one of those really cute diamonds in the cenpho area. i stopped in here on the last melrose block party with some friends, one needed to get a percription filled and we saw this place and said "yup lets try it" it was soooo cool. lots of little wind up toys and books and other typical pharmacy type items stocked on what looked like 5ft book shelves. the pharmacist was really nice, chatty, and helpful to my friends needs. filled her script in 10 minutes while we milled around the store. they even accept a wide selection of insurances and everything was nothing more then a pleasant experience...i almost wish something was wrong with me so i could have a perscription to fill too. oh well. when i do i will be taking it here for sure. 5 stars for just awesomeness. read more

NOT VERY TRANSGENDER FRIENDLY!! I've never had a problem with them until now. Normally they are very respectful to transgender customers, always respecting your gender identity, name, etc. However, my last call to refill my prescription was completely different. Not only did one of their employees refuse to call me by REAL name, he then hang up on me after correcting him and explaining to him my preferred name and pronouns. I call a second time and spoke to his manager. She refused to apologize for her employees disrespectful attitude and gave the typical excuse you'd hear from a republican politician. The manager then said they only respect a trans person's name once they've legalized it which is completely transphobic. I've legalized my name but still, should future transgender customers be subject to this ridiculing behavior? She even asked me to bring in my ID to confirm my name, even though I've been there for more than over a year! It's apparent that they've become very sloppy and unethical overthe last couple of months. They may be LGB friendly but they still have so much work to do in making their pharmacy safe and friendly for the transgender community. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. The prices are the same as any of the corporate spots, the wait is shorter and everyone is actually nice and helpful. Forget about the long waits and rude corporate pharmacists people. Do yourself a favor and stop in to Melrose Pharmacy, support a local business and maybe even check out the drum setup they have for First Friday! I highly recommend this place! Fantastic people, prices are as good as a corporate pharmacy, so many good points...but the best about Melrose is simply that they make you feel special. That is enough for me! I really wanted to like this pharmacy, but am afraid I can't share the local love due to recurrent insurance billing issues which arise EVERY time I get my monthly prescriptions filled. Very simple-- I have two types of insurance. Two of the three prescriptions are covered by my primary with a zero copay. The other one is covered by the secondary with a 1.20 copay. Total for the same three prescriptions monthly should be 1.20. I am not kidding-- EVERY time I go in, I'm met with "your insurance doesn't cover this", and have to wait additional time for them to straighten out things (if that even happens-- one time I just paid what they were asking, then had to call my insurance, the insurance had to call the pharmacy, explain to them how it should be billed, also tell me to tell them how to put it in the system, then call me back or wait for a call back from the pharmacy, etc., etc.) Since when is figuring out the pharmacy billing system the job of the patient?? I'm also really confused as to how their system generates error codes-- one time they tried to bill me full price for birth control, because the apparent insurance error code stated 'patient is pregnant', and therefore would not cover it. Honestly, wtf? I've never had anything like that happen at any pharmacy, ever. Not to mention, it's birth control-- FFS, why would I be pregnant? I'm convinced there's a random denial-of-coverage error code generator built into their system-- "Nope, sorry. Your insurance won't cover this. It says 'patient deceased', so you know, you're dead. You'll have to call your insurance. Would you like to pay full price instead?" Let's just say today was the last straw-- I received an automated call from the pharmacy stating that I had an Rx ready to be picked up. Okay, they have everything all ironed out from last time, right? Wrong. This time, the system was showing them yet another error code: "patient not found" (same insurance I've had for years), so I had to wait an additional 25 mins for them to verify eligibility-- mind you, this is the same Rx I had JUST FILLED LAST MONTH with the SAME INSURANCE-- a refill! Personally, I believe the owner doesn't like dealing with insurance because it takes money out of her pocket, which is unethical. Furthermore, I think the techs are "trained" to reflect this-- (really, EVERY tech hired can't be utterly stupefied by the billing process as I've experienced on a recurring monthly basis.) Another irritating thing about this place is how the owner's mug is plastered everywhere, on posters, pamphlets, walls, website. It's a completely egocentric turn-off. Are you a pharmacist or some kind of legend in your own mind? I plan to follow up on this--your shitty boutique pharmacy shouldn't be listed as an AHCCCS pharmacy if you're not willing to fill AHCCCS-covered prescriptions. I've been very restrained, and I will not be hassled or haggled every month. It's $1.20, and my insurance does indeed "cover it". In fact, it covers the shit out of it. If Melrose Pharmacy just simply stated that they only serve people who pay out-of-pocket, I would have known to go elsewhere. If you're not making money, just close your doors. Being economically selective should be ethically out of the question for you. It's a pharmacy, not a friggin' country club. (And to think I traveled out of my way to support this place!) Back to CVS for me, gladly. They don't have a certain socioeconomic "type" they exclusively serve. read more

Be very careful. They have shorted me on my 30 day prescription 2 months in a row. I have addressed this with the Pharmacist. We'll see if it is fixed this month. I use a hormone cream that is calculated in clicks not pill so it is hard to tell if you have the proper amount. The last 2 months I wrote down the start and finish dates. Last month I go 26 days out of 30 and this month it was 22 days out of 30. hummmmmmmmm I am looking for another pharmacy. read more

What a great and unique pharmacy. The Pharmacists Londa and Jace were fantastic. My copay was 230$ and they tried multiple different ways to reduce it. Eventually they got it down to 120$ which was a life saver. The thing that made me give 5 stars is not only that they did not have to spend a half hour trying to help me but also that I've never had a pharmacy besides this one work so hard to make the customer happy. I'm almost positive frys safeway or cvs would just tell me 230$ please and leave it at that. They are also a very uniquely designed pharmacy that I don't mind at all waiting in for the prescriptions. Personable staff and genuine help. I'd recommended everyone gives this place a shot :) read more

Where to start on this adventure? I had my prescription filled at Melrose and all seemed fine, until I went to go pick it up! When I walked through the door, all was good. But then I saw the bum looking guy walking behind the counter. I had seen him earlier when I dropped off my Rx, but thought nothing of it as he was hanging out a few shops down. My shock to see this guy, greasy hair, dirt all over, clothes littered with who knows what, right where my prescription was being filled! And none the less, he seemed to be upsetting the technician who so graciously took down my information. He was not quiet about the topic of the conversation. The technician then saw me, and told him "I've got a customer to help.." and came to the counter. He then grumbled something under his breath, gave ME a dirty look, and walked out of the pharmacy. My question is: Why would someone like that be behind the counter? He definitely was NOT the pharmacist, or a technician. Isn't it a law that you can't have anyone except pharmacy personnel behind the counter where OUR drugs are filled? I'm sorry, this turned me off quickly, as I could smell him when he walked by. Looks, how people talk and carry themselves, brings an image into the place you work/own. That is number one when trying to present a clean and happy image. Later on, I found out that the man I saw was the pharmacists husband!!! To think that she would allow such to go on behind the counters at her pharmacy is ridiculous. I feel sorry for the workers there. I gave them 1 star for the wonderful technician that took in my prescription. read more

I flew from very far away to get help for a medical condition. I was given compounding cream that gave me a chance at pain relief for pudendal neuralgia. This pharmacy saw the misery I was in and made my cream without making me wait the as long as usually required. Thank you! read more

The owner is amazing as for the staff will never return to the place. In front of customers staff made it clear the turn over and poor service is due to the owner!!! Yep and when you complain on a regular basis when you stuff is lost never received or done wrong you are a trouble customer. After years with them will never return nor recommend. Teresa needs to get rid of staff and hire ones who want to work. The Pharmacist has released prescriptions that are incorrect and allows very very poor service. Never ever trust that your script is ready if sent over via e script. Never ever is received. Not the friendly neighborhood store any longer. read more

They had input my information wrong in the system so when I called on Friday, they had no information on me and could not find the hardcopy Rx I handed over on Wednesday. Their response was, "I don''t know what happened. We will give you a call if we find it." Really? You mean as opposed to,"Let me input your info correctly and call the doctor to resend the script." I hung up and recalled ten minutes later to tell them to call my doctor. They effed up, they should do the extra work to call my doc. I got a hold of someone else and they discovered they misspelled my name and he was able to locate my script. I was informed by this person my med would be ready to be picked on Monday- today. I call today (the day they are supposed to be ready) to verify and I think the same person that I first talked to answered. He told me they will be ready in a day or two. I asked how come such a long wait. He said because they just received it on Friday. No it was Wednesday. So now I have to wait longer because some broad couldn't read a script and input my info correctly. My first impression of this establishment is horrible. This is a pharmacy. There should be no room for error. Now I am little concerned that I won't get the correct compounded medication if and when it is ever ready. I went here because I heard such great things.
