Mellow Mushroom is a delightful throw back to when restaurants didn't look like a furniture store, with chairs, tables (and diners) as far as the eye can see. So, there is no waiting to discover where it is you and your party will be slotted in, but rather, it is a slow amble amidst lots of room to pretty much any table you choose, with mostly booths. The servers are mostly college age I would say, and all attentive with an easy-going nature while also industrious in going about their tasks, making for a nice combination of satisfaction and leisure upon each visit. As for the food and drink.. To start things off, a drink my friend orders regularly and always enjoys is the non-alcoholic Lavender Groove Lemonade, a refreshing blend of "Blueberry, lavender, house-made fresh sour, lemon, and club soda." Over multiple visits, we found all the main dishes to be consistently well-made and presented, as well as tasting great. Along with a variety of burgers and sandwiches, there are numerous pizza offerings as well as build-your-own. A favorite offering of ours is the Kosmic Karma, a delicious blend of "Mellow red sauce, spinach, roasted tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh Roma tomatoes, feta cheese, and a pesto swirl." So far. we have opted for salads over appetizers to start and I particularly enjoy the Caesar, and recently we each followed our salads with a delectable Steak and Cheese Calzone consisting of "Grilled, shaved all-natural ribeye steak with mushrooms, sweet onions, green peppers, mozzarella, provolone and seasoned ricotta. Served with a side of Mellow Red Sauce." which are Huge btw so there was take-home of that and Delicious both days. This past week, we each ordered a salad and split another Steak and Cheese Calzone which, for that evening, satisfied our hunger just right. The only caveat I have is MM is popular with families, so, depending on the time of day, there will be one or two tables with little ones dining to three, four or more and the corresponding volume level to go with it. At the same time. families should feel welcome and there's a variety of menu items for kids to enjoy. And really, the noise seems to fade into the background once you focus on your own conversation and delectable meal. If you do visit Mellow Mushroom, I hope you enjoy your experience as much as we always have. read more

Stopped in today after going to iSmash at The Factory - parking lot was packed. I forgot just how small this restaurant is - even with the outdoor seating. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer, it was pretty sad. 5 really tiny pieces of bread and pretty meh. We ordered combo pizza - 1/2 holy shiitake and half white. The pizza is good, main issue is pretty slow service. Took quite a while to get our food. $55 for lunch before tip is pretty pricey. read more

Synopsis - Great pizza and great variety! We've been to Mellow Mushroom a couple times now. The food is always delicious and make up for the fact that the prices are a bit higher than other pizza restaurants. I would also say that you often times get a much wider variety here than you would anywhere else. As we ended up ordering at lunchtime, our order was delayed a little bit. But the server was extremely kind about the delay and made it all worth it. It is definitely a spot. I would recommend if you were looking for pizza in the Wake Forest area. 5 Mellow Stars out of 5! read more

We've eaten there for dinner and have also had deliveries and take out here. Atmosphere is good, always have had good service, and their pizza has been good nearly every time we've ordered. We had one pizza ordered dine in and it was not as good as usual but that was some time ago. That pizza was soggy. But we gave them another chance and the pizzas since have been very good. Everything everywhere dining has gotten rather expensive. We do not go out as often as a result. read more

This was the first time we dined in at Mellow Mushroom - we usually order pick-up. It was a GREAT experience, starting with Dwayne, our server who was chill and laser-focused. He was wicked busy ("in the weeds" was the term we used back when I was waiting tables) and we marveled at his attention with each table, and the speed with which the drinks and apps came. The menu lists the Spicy Mango Maragarita, but I'm not a mango fan and asked if I could get a non-mango spicy 'rita - Dwayne assured me that I could get ANY margarita spicy - a great relief and a very tasty spicy drink! The bone-in chicken wings were perfectly seasoned and the side of sweet Thai chili jived perfectly wth the spicy margarita - and Dwayne's spirted presentation was fun! (see pic). The tailored Mighty Meaty pizza (pesto base baked crisply w/ black olives, garlic, topped w/ diced raw onions - the pic can only try to capture the deliciousness visually - ya gotta try this combination y'all! Menu shots are in the pics - but don't skip the AMBIANCE pics- this place is a family fun haven! It accommodates cozy booths like we had, tables surrounding a giant painted mushroom, private party rooms and AL FRESCO dining with a generous safe play space for the kiddos! Mellow Mushroom is the total family fun night venue - check it out for yourself1 read more

Went for family dinner with two toddlers to this location and of course they loved the vibrant colors and whimsical decorations. Our server was Nate and not sure if he was nervous or just new. He did not get our order correct even after he repeated it back to us we made some corrections and it still did not come out correctly. We ordered the mac and cheese with apples for the kids , half order of the steak and cheese hoagie for me and a half half pizza for my husband. I was told that I could not substitute a side salad for the tater tots that came with my meal. That was the first time hearing that maybe new rules or just this location. Nate tried his best and we really appreciated him. I gave a 3 star because we all had stomach aches not even 20 minutes from leaving the establishment and the only common thing we all had was some of the mighty meat /funky q pizza. Probably will be a while before going back to this location. read more

Worst service ever! Waited an hour and a half for our pizza only for a manager to come tell us they delivered our pizza to the wrong table and wanted us to stay while they made another one for us. We got up and left! Will never go back to Mellow Mushroom ever again ! Even if they paid me! read more

Been to multiple mellow mushrooms around the state. *pizza fantastic and cooked properly. * to go order and the front desk worker (presumably manager) brought it out and opened the box in front of me to make sure it was in order. It was. That attention to detail was superb. *taste - fantastic. Half and half: *restaurant allows you to order two style of pizza for a single pie!!! Best of both worlds. Did I want an entire deluxe? No. An entire white pizza? No. But I can have both on the left and right side? YEAH. It's genius and I'm surprised other restaurants haven't copied their idea. read more

I had a small thin and crispy pepperoni pizza for take out. I arrived before the ready time given on the app and it was ready early. Yes! Although I was in take out mode, I had time to check out the dining area. To me, it has a sort of San Francisco 1960's hippie vibe. Love it. Five minutes later I was back home enjoying a very good pizza. Great sauce and they sprinkled it with parmigiana cheese. I really enjoyed the pizza and I like this chain. It good to go. read more

To celebrate the start to our weekend we dropped in for a late dinner tonight while in the area. This place has more mushrooms than Super Mario. An adorable patio to dine outside and plenty of dining room. This restaurant is adorable and a hippie's paradise. It's super psychedelic and zen. The menu is huge and there is something for everyone to enjoy. Our waiter was Sunshine and she was awesome. We decided on the Pretzel bites with beer cheese for a app. You must try it ! We couldn't stop eating. For entrees my daughter had the Small Buffalo chicken pizza and I had the small house pie. Small is a understatement! The serving sizes are humongous ! You'll have plenty to eat the next day Best pizza I've had since relocating to Raleigh from New York ! I also had a bourbon, whisky peach purée flavored cocktail with egg cream !!!!!! Really great cocktail. This place is great for every occasion. Having a full bar is a plus also !!!! read more

Service was lacking to say the least. We didn't get the food we ordered & when we did receive our order half the table was done eating their food. The patio seating was horrible. Their chairs scraped the concrete like nails on a chalkboard! Unpleasant experience. read more

Not a great experience. Ordered a pair of pizzas for the table. Food took 45 minutes to be delivered. One was ice cold, the other lukewarm. Manager re-made the cold one (10 minutes). We ate the other. Would have been pretty tasty if it was hot. We were comped the ice-cold one and the replacement. Still - it's a pizza place.... pizza shouldn't be anything other than piping hot. read more

After my last visit I was weary to return. But after speaking with the manager here, I decided to give it another try. I know right now everywhere is short staffed.... Tonight we went for pizza. And had a much better experience. The wings were absolutely 1000% better. We got a cheese Pizza, The house special, and then another one that I'm not sure of the name. I think it's the wild Havana? Everything this time was so good. Our waitress you could tell was stressed. We observed that she had checking and saving a lot of tables. At least seven or eight. Avoid over Jaxies but we still felt attendant to and like they cared about us. I'm thoroughly impressed with the amount of change that I saw! Definitely try this place out. We love the pizza dough. The wild Havana is hands-down my favorite pizza from now on. read more

First visit. Ordered online & picked up curbside. Ordered 2 pizza & cheese bread special, and I was not impressed...AT ALL. The pizza sauce was salty on both pizzas & the cheese bread was DRYYYYYYY!! I needed that salty side of tomato sauce just to get that 1 bite down. My friend raves about this place from going to a different one. I was better off going to Dominoes or something. At least the cheese bread wouldn't have almost choked me to death. The service was ok & the online ordering was easy. I may try it again if someone else pays for it again. I am definitely not spending my money on this. Bad first impression for pizza. The chocolate chip cookie, on the other hand, was yummy. read more

The good: our waitress was very kind and attentive! The pizza itself was good The bad: Arrived around 3 pm, greeted by 3 hosts talking at front. Atleast half the tables were dirty (food, drinks, etc) and the floor was also littered with random garbage around tables. The ugly: We were seated directly next to kitchen and noticed none of the cooks were wearing beard covers (one cooks beard was very long). This same cook LOUDLY burped while preparing food, set the plate up and waitress took it to the table. It was so loud that it actually shocked me Clearly poor management; won't be returning to this location read more

This is a classic. Service is great, we got seated right away and our food came within 30 minutes. The crust is the shwaest thing ever. The pizza was good. But the service was not what I expected. 1. Was told would have a 15 min wait. When longer, I checked and my name had been scratched of the wait list. ?? 2. My drink order was incorrect, it took very long time to get what I order, even though the drink station was just beside our table. 3. I received my bill and paid with a credit card. I did not receive a copy, I had to hail down our server again to get a transaction copy. I know good help is now hard to find, but it appeared these teenagers were trying hard, with no real supervision. read more

Food is okay, not as good as it used to be. Service is meh. It wasn't super clean in there so they definitely could've been doing some cleaning tasks. read more

Not bad, but definitely not life changing... ordered online with a 50 minute pick up time I was nearby so I stopped 40 minutes after I placed my order -hoping to bring home hot food. My order was sitting by the door nice and cold. Which was fine for the salad but the pie and bread had to go back into the oven at home after a long 9 minute drive. They ask for phone number, opt in to text messages, get your email address but in no way let you know your order is done and sitting by the door? Maybe next time we'll just dine in at the Raleigh location ...and skip the bland gourmet cookies. I appreciate the business following up on this- up one more star. read more

The biggest mistake I made was not getting pizza from here. We got takeout but the place had a few customers when I arrived. The first thing I noticed was the music was cutting in and out which made it very annoying and unpleasant. The music genre was perfect but it seemed it was attached to someone's phone and they keep losing connection. Let's get to the food. The family got the pretzel bites which are always good and I went with the Steak and Cheese Hoagie. The sandwich came with lettuce and tomato besides the traditional steak, cheese, peppers and onions. The lettuce was almost wilted and soggy by the time I got home. They also took the entire leaf of romaine so some parts were super thick and the other parts were the wilted which made it nasty. It does not come with fries which is weird so I settled for chips. I doubt I'll get this ever again and would only recommend the pizza. I would have given 5 stars but it takes a lot of work to muck up a steak and cheese. read more

The food is acceptable. The pizzas are not great but the salads are ok. The service though is awful. Prepare to wait forever for your order and prepare for it definitely to be wrong. So far, in the last year 6/6 orders have been incorrect (mostly all missing items). It's really freaking annoying to be missing something and realize when your home. I started checking the bag before leaving to catch it. But today I ordered delivery and joke is on me because it arrived incorrect. I should have known better. Really I only have myself to blame. read more

Came in for a quick lunch with my daughter. They have a good lunch deal: one 1-topping slice with a salad for $5.99. The salad was fresh and had a good mix of greens (not just a bowl of iceberg). Pizza slices were large and tasted ok. Bathrooms were extremely clean! The staff had amazing customer service. The host was handling a bunch of stuff and still kept his cool and smiled. Our waitress, Genesis, was incredible. Attentive, polite, and just a delight. Covid protocols were definitely being followed too. read more

Hi - Normally I do not do this but felt this visit needed this review. My former life was in F&B so I like to think I know a few things. I could go into all the details but why bother. I was a first-time customer on 7/30/24. I placed an online pickup oder and was told it would be 25 minutes. I arrived and was told it would be about 10 more minutes. I waited in my car and went back in and was told it would be another 15 minutes because the kitchen was really backed up (on a Tuesday ???). I was not happy and asked for the manager, who then told me my order hadn't even been started! I told her to cancel my order and refund my card! What was mind-boggling to me was that there was no effort to offer anything to make up for this horrible first-time experience! How about a free appetizer ordessert, a voucher for the next visit, something! Just a horrible, disorganized experience! I will NOT return! read more

Great food Terrific service and inviting dining! Always a pleasure coming to eat here.

This is my first visit at this location and my second visit to Mellow Mushroom. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and 3 soft drinks. All for $28.55. The pizza was good. Taylor was our server. She was nice. One of the menus had a hair in it. And one of the chairs has a bunch of cheese all over it. I love eating out but lately I am liking it less because of the cleanliness in some of these restaurants. Nothing special but not bad pizza. read more

This location has really gone downhill in the last year. The crust used to be buttered and had grated parmesan all over it, just like every other Mellow Mushroom I've ever been to. Now it just doesn't come that way any more. After a couple of instances of this, I specifically asked about it and they said that they still do it, so I requested that they make sure that my pizza came that way. I got it and I still don't think it was buttered and the parmesan was lousy powdered "spaghetti cheese". In addition, the toppings have gotten pretty skimpy and the pizza always seems to be slightly underdone. I don't know if these changes have happened to all the locations -- this is the only one I've been to since this started happening -- but I've started getting pizza elsewhere. read more

WILL NOT EVER GO BACK! We arrived and were immediately seated. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. Appetizer was delivered shortly after and was good.
