4 enthusiastic stars…read more I'm not going to argue that this is "better than NYC" pizza, or even as good because that... is always a lie whenever anyone talks about local pizza. I will argue that this unassuming pizzeria in a mini-strip mall adjacent to a Waffle House and gas station is... mayhaps the best NYC-style place in the WF? It's the dough. Other places just haven't quite got it right. It's always just a little too chewy/gummy and then you're just eating chewy/gummy cheese on chewy/gummy bread. Mario's does it right -- you get that crunch, you get that chew, you get that joy. Check out Mario's! Not a great location, but the pizza is pretty outstanding.

The problem came into play when the food arrived and the slices tasted bland and plain with no Italian love or care. Sauce was terrible. We've eaten pizza almost everywhere, even at Johnny's when they first opened. Back then, it tasted like good Italian pizza. What happened? There's not one Italian guy back there in the kitchen cooking either who understands pizza. Looks like Johnny's has gone the way of the rest of the eating establishments around here hiring people who can not cook authentic delicious pizza. It's filling, but that isn't why we eat pizza. Pizza should be a culinary treat with delicious sauce and great mozzarella cheese. Sadly it's a 1 out of 5 for us. We'll stick with real pizza at Piezano's in Rolesville.

First time visit as I wanted to try a new pizza place in Wake Forest. I'm glad I did. Paco's is…read morein the same place that used to be Little Caesar's pizza. I placed an online order for a Margherita pizza with sausage and a cheese pizza, both 18 inches. The website was easy to order from, no issues there. They even accepted Google Pay which was a nice bonus. Prices were also inline with similar pizzas in the Wake Forest area from non-major chain restaurants. The wait time on a Friday evening was about 30 minutes (same as mentioned when ordering) which is inline with other local pizza shops during that time of day. When I picked up the pizza, a lady greeted me with a hello and a nice smile, can't overlook that nowadays! My wife and I had the Margherita pizza and my son had the cheese. The Margherita was very good. I figured I'd like it, but was a bit surprised how much I'd like it. Thin crust. If you like olive oil and garlic, like I do, you'll appreciate it on this pizza. I think they enhance everything else on the pizza. They are pronounced, but not overpowering. The pizza was not greasy, with the ingredients (fresh spinach, onion, tomatoes) very fresh tasting. The crust was ok, not special, not bad at all, but the toppings definitely made up for it. I think some additional flavoring from yeast would have helped the crust. My wife also really liked the flavor of the pizza. We'll definitely put this on repeat in a future order. My son thought the cheese pizza was good, similar to other pizza restaurants in the area that are not large chain types. Overall, I'm glad I took a chance and now have yet another option for pizza in Wake Forest. I'll be back!

Vlad here, describing our GO-TO pizza place here in Wake Forest: George's Pizzeria. Y'all know I tend to focus on local gems, and this place is in our top 5 eateries for immediate eye-rolling gratification and tasty leftovers regularly in our fridge. We are coming up on 2 years as WF residents, and have eaten at - or picked up for in-home dining - George's pizza, wings, calamari and other awesome fare - this review is long overdue. We have taken out-of-town visitors and family to George's, with rave reviews and amazement over the fresh flavor and relaxing ambiance. Located on White Street alongside local seldom-used train tracks with plenty of on-street and private lot parking, this wheelchair-accessible hideaway is close and easy to get to. We frequently dine in, enjoying epic service from the small and efficient wait staff - yesterday we were privileged to have the amazing Emma serve us - the epitome of friendliness and rapid efficiency, featured in one of the pics posted. We always get a tailored Meat Lover's pizza (large, of course, so we can enjoy more of it later in the week!) and the unbelievably crispy and tasty wings, along with ice cold beers - HEAVEN! See the pics for more details, and then GO TO GEORGE'S PIZZERIA and see for yourself what I'm talkin about!

I can't wait to go back and try their meatball sub now that I know how phenomenal their bread is, it would make a perfect vessel for a meatball sub! No complaints!

Maybe it was an off day or maybe I just put too much trust in Wake Forest reviews again…read more My friend and I went during lunch. We were greeted warmly and our waiter was outstanding. He was hard working, always gave refills, and was kind. He was definitely the highlight of our visit. The ambiance is that of an old-school pizza parlor from the 90s, but it didn't feel nostalgic, it felt boring. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. I ordered the Milton's Special pizza and it was fine. Nothing to rave about but nothing to want to come back to, either. My friend ordered a pizza as well. It's nice that they have GF options. She wasn't too impressed with her choice, either. It tasted like it could have come from the freezer at the grocery store, it was very generic in flavor. The service was really the best part of our entire meal. 10/10 service, 4/10 food

An OK spot for pizzeria fare in WF…read more It's a big place, at least 25 tables. Decor is Americana-kitsch. (Think Cracker Barrel). Also features a prominently displayed political flag - guaranteed to antagonize 50% of the patrons which to me doesn't make sense. And could very well explain why it wasn't very busy on this Friday night. Service is fantastic. The young lady helping us was professional and efficient. Food came quick, order was correct and she made sure our glasses were never empty. Food is ok. Didn't order pizza, as was in the mood for other Italian specialties. The garlic knots were interesting. Reminded me of crescent rolls made out of pizza dough. They're served dry, with a cup of garlic butter dipping sauce. Tasty enough, but not really how I envisioned them, slathered in butter with chunks of garlic, served in a basket. Baked ziti was ok but bland. Pasta slightly overcooked so it was mushy. Sauce is good though, a little sweet. Similar experience with the fettucine. Fettucine cooked right, sauce didn't have any zest to it. Will give another try, next time to taste the pizza. Hoping that this place succeeds.
