They advertise the "largest slices in the Triangle" and I honestly believe it's true. Their lunch special of two slices and drink will fill up anyone not training for a Marathon: they're huge. Ordered a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice. Both had an excellent crust and the cheese and sauce were good. The pepperoni slice was a bit salty for me, but good. The cheese slice was really good. The slices also came out nicely crispy, and stayed that way. Foldable as good NY slice should be! Counter service and they bring your order out. Drinks from a fountain, which is nice. At the time of this review it was pretty much $10 for the two enormous slices and a drink. The also offer a senior discount (nice, but I didn't ask for it). I finally visited Tony's which ironically is located right next door to my fitness studio Sk1ll. I've maintained a high level of self control the past few months avoiding this place. Yesterday I ordered 2 pepperoni slices for my daughter and garlic knots. As a native New Yorker, I know good pizza. When I heard that the slices are huge, I didn't expect them to be humongous! These are notorious B.I.G huge ! We enjoyed the slices and I look forward to ordering a fresh pie next time so that I can taste the difference. The slices were just reheated. The only thing I did not enjoy was the garlic knots. They had no garlic on them at all. Disappointing. Service here was excellent. We decided to give this place a try while waiting for a quick mechanic visit. Really glad we did! The pizza is classic New York style, with dough that is not too thin and not too thick. The sauce and the pepperoni was the definition of savory. The whole slice was satisfying. The garlic bread was drenched in butter, olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning. It sounds unhealthy, and that's because it is. But I don't think anyone stopping by a pizza joint is in search of health. The garlic bread was well worth getting it as a side, anyway, though if you can't handle digesting oil well you'll have to do what I did and eat one or two slices. This joint is hidden somewhere in a nice neighborhood on the way to Glenwood Ave. We went on a weekday evening at around 6pm and the place was empty. It kind worried me to see; but the more we waited, the more I noticed the kitchen was swarmed with orders for takeout. People kept coming in and out to get their orders. Must be a neighborhood/local favorite. The staff was friendly, too. There is nothing about this place to write home about, and that's what makes it so good. Just good, classic pizza. The subs are pretty tasty, but their pizza is quite floppy. We used to come here, and the slices didn't lack the constitution as did the slices we got tonight. When I say floppy, I mean that it looked as though it need hanging out on the clothes line. Perhaps we hit them on a bad night. read more

Soo...there are times, not many, when my go-to pizzeria is closed and yet I crave some 'za. I have tried a couple of other locations and keep getting surprised at the lack of knowledge in what pizza is. Come on people! It's not hard. I mean...if they decide to keep it simple and just go with "Tony's"..then by that reason it should be as good as I get in Philly & Jersey. They did NOT let me down. The crust wasn't overly crunchy (yes...looking at you brick oven bakers...I don't want a pizza cracker), the sauce was fairly decent...a bit sweet but I can work with that. The cheese was perfect. The prices are very reasonable...considering that everything is getting more expensive. I got my pie delivered and it came still warm. I am comfortable in using this as my subgoto and maybe go-to if the other place is too busy. You could do worse. No...really. There is a LOT of bad 'za in the Triangle. Go to Tony's. Go on. We just got a pizza from Tony's and the flavor was not there and the crust and veggies were not cooked. They offered to give us a new pizza but that would have required us to go back into the restaurant which we weren't willing to do today. But after one bite your realize you're on a journey of consuming mediocre, extra thin, hard crusted, bland pizza. I added oregano. I added pepper flakes. Called up Monday August 9th at 8:48pm to order some tirimisu to-go from across the street. Looked up online and it says they close at 9:30 so I was surprised to hear that they were already closed. I asked for future reference if they closed at 8:30 and maybe I had misread but the guy working said no, they close at 9pm. Hmmm.. ok. Understandable that COVID has jacked up online hours and that restaurants might not be able to keep track of changing all the times on all the websites but closing early never looks good. Not to mention what I was ordering was a prepackaged item, assuming they hadn't rushed to do the drawers already it should've been no problem serving their customer, would've been in and out before 9pm. The pizza here is good but it's very expensive. It was $24 for the smallest pizza they offered. It was a "specialty" pizza but still a bit expensive. It was ready quickly and it was good! Normally I love Tony's. They may be a tad pricey and a wee bit slow, but their pizza slices are gigantic - and generally pretty darn delicious. Right after one of our recent hurricanes, we stopped in for dinner. Oops! There was an hour left before closing time but no fresh pies. Nobody wanted to pop one into the oven either. I second the below comment that is definitely a hidden gem in Raleigh. It doesn't seem like it would be as big as it was inside when you walk in. The place is very clean and the staff is very welcoming. The person who took my order (his name was Hassan C. the really tall one!) was so polite and accommodated everything that we asked for on the pizza. We only waited about 5-10 minutes for the pizza to be made fresh. You can tell when you look behind the counter that the everything is being made very fresh and the staff is working in a clean environment. The waiter brought our pizza directly out to the our table with clean plates and peppers to add. We ordered pizza with a chicken topping on it and it was AMAZING. Perfect amount of sauce & cheese!!
