I thought I would give this place another shot. It seems like they've gotten their act together and corrected some of the issues I originally had. I came in a little after lunch shift the other day and was a bit indecisive about my order but the very patient and nice girl at the counter helped me decide. I ended up ordering the Meatball with Provolone. The sandwich was well made with large meatballs and both the bread and the meat tasted fresh. Previously I had issues with the line situation, but in this case there was only one other person in the restaurant, so that was less of an inconvenience. The other, more serious issue centered around gnats and flies. I can confidently say that was not an issue when I revisted the other day. I was pleased with my second visit and the friendly, helpful girl who served me, I believe her name was Leah. Tucked away near the NC museum of art, we picked up 3 sandwiches and they were delicious. So filling, good portions, quality produce, and professional staff. Friendly and helpful staff. It wasn't busy when I went in. The menu on the board seems a little duplicative to me. The staff was welcoming and pleasant. I enjoyed lunch here on Monday afternoon. I enjoyed the turkey sub with bacon on white submarine bread. Very good. This sub was loaded with turkey deli meat and I added lettuce, tomatoes and banana pepper. Very good! My only suggestion is to mark the subs so that we can tell them apart without having to open them both up. I had onions and peppers and my Mom didn't. It was difficult determining which was which. I got introduced to this prize via DOORDASH I had been fight allergies so I ordered chicken soup Italian sub with fix all Ginger Ale. Dragging myself to door after my delivery came to my security cam cell and watch, I was extremely pleased by the smell instantly as opened my door to grab my prompt delivery. The soup was in a quart sized clear container so not only could I smell the aroma of hot fresh soup even with allergies my eyes could see white meat chicken large slices of carrots celery so I dove into broth instantly as I unpacked my goodies. Zing the flavors of broth were just tonic I needed to fight allergies, then my salivary glands got even bigger rush when I grabbed soup spoon and bowl poured this lushish nectar out. Juicy moist chicken al dente corkscrew pasta noodles that had absorbed the layers of broth enriched by carrots, onions, celery, thyme and I think hint of rosemary but I've been using rosemary steam for my allergies so who knows but thus soup was something I would have made for my sons on chilly day or recovering from some illness or kinda thing your Mom would have made for you. Needless to say just that was enough the warmth of soup helped me in so many ways and was catalyst to making the meds work, so it was lights out TAPS! My slumber was over because I was finally really hungry the elixir of chicken soup worked its magic my appetite was back so let's dive into the Italian sub I ordered with ginger ale. Unwrapping my sub many hours later I was pleasantly surprised by their own fresh pickles extreme yummy for my tummy feeling made me dive into this sub. First time giving Brooklyn Pickle a try! I've had it on my radar ever since seeing a coworker's lunch arrive via DoorDash a few days prior. I decided to order online to avoid the in-store lunch rush and wait. Easy online ordering through their website. There were so good many options and it was very hard to choose, but I ended up going with the Italian Sub with Italian tomatoes, chips, tea, and jumbo cookie. Although the online ordering system never notified me that my order was ready, I arrived at the "estimated" time and it was all packed up and ready to go. The staff were all very busy...you could tell they were recovering from a big lunch rush...but I was greeted and assisted right away nevertheless. My Sandwich was delicious! It was prepared exactly as ordered with the condiments I ordered piled on just right. The bottled blackberry tea was as expected and the jumbo cookie was SO GOOD. I was very underwhelmed by the chips. They weren't very flavorful...almost tasted stale...but they were not expired, so I'm not sure what happened there...but it was a bummer. This is definitely not a NYC deli. Think more upstate NY. If you want NY style food it may work for you. The positives are the menu. Traditional staples. A copy of the menu was added in my photos. Tastewise items were average to good. The pickles were dill. I was expecting half sour and sour garlic pickles. The knish was good but microwaved versus grilled or fried was less than ideal. Nothing beats a Black Cherry soda. Loved the bread selection and enjoyed a half size chicken salad sandwich. It was plentiful. No blintzes nor potato pancakes on the menu. The location on Lake Boone Trail is in the busy Marketplace at Lake Boone so parking may be tough! Inside, the space is long and narrow with an extended counter where your sandwich is made. The usual pastrami, corned beef, chicken salads are on the menu along with subs. The sandwiches I tried were super fresh with a nice sturdy bread that can stand up to all the fillings in the over-stuffed sandwiches. The kid that served me decided to only give me a sprinkle of lettuce and onion and 2 each of provolone and tomato slices on a 12 foot sub. I do agree with the other reviewers that the pricing is somewhat high, especially with nothing being included, it would be nice if they had an option to include a side and drink that wasn't an extra $5.50. Great deli with super friendly staff. Bread and all the ingredients were very fresh. Loved that they had a variety of chips to go with our choices and that they had Dr Brown sodas. They had a deli fridge stocked full off salads, desserts, and of course pickles. The chili was good but was a basic chili. The chefs special for the day was a Neptune's Gumbo which I was blown away by. It had huge chunks shrimp, clams, and veggies: I could have eaten this all day it was so good. The banana pudding was a typical pudding but still good. The reason I did not give this place a 5 because of the Cuban. My husband is Cuban and is very particular about the sandwich. They did not have Cuban bread so the sandwich was made on a super soft (because it was so fresh-which normally is great for sandwiches, but not for Cubans) sub roll. They also did not have any way to press the sandwich, which is another downer. They were accommodating in mixing the may and mustard together, but they could only put the sandwich in the sandwich toaster to get it hot and melt the cheese. Had lunch today there, a delicious Reuben and knowing what an excellent Reuben is, I was very impressed. The whole was huge, a half will satisfy all but the those who haven't eaten the past few days. The bread fresh, the quality corned beef thin-sliced and piled high, the sauerkraut just right, the pickles so yum...Service was quick and on point in this clean and organized environment. After mostly settling for just OK Reubens and other sandwiches in the Raleigh area, Brooklyn Pickle has figured it out at fair prices. Just go! read more

A nice sandwich shop, good addition to Raleigh's restaurant scene. 3 stars for a couple of reasons, the sub rolls (or at least my sub roll) wasn't very fresh. The flavor of the roll was odd, and it was very crumbly the way one or two day old bread is. Also, they have a "Cuban" sandwich but no sandwich press, so it's a pork meat sandwich with Swiss cheese. The Brooklyn special on dark rye was good, the bread was very good. Overall a nice place, they're just getting the operation going, have to come back in a few months and revisit it. read more

I tried Brookyln Pickle two times over a weekend as it it very close to Rex Hospital where I was visiting an acquaintance. For my first visit, I tried the corn beef. If you enjoy flavorless food, it was a home run. The ingredients for my sandwich were obviously fresh, but it had no taste. After reading that the corn beef was very lean which results in a different flavor profile than typical corn beef, I came back the next day and tried the pastrami. Unfortunately, it was basically the same flavorless story as the corn beef, although I did taste the Russian dressing this time. Portion sizes for both sandwiches were reasonable for the price charged, especially given the serving size of the protein. On both visits, the service was polite and efficient. Beverages are served in bottles and there are chips available on the main counter as are a variety of desserts. The location is very clean and offers exactly the sort of semi-upscale chain restaurant feel befitting its location. Prices were about what I'd expect and of course they hit you up for a tip. All in all, I think Brooklyn Pickle delivered the product they intended to deliver with the expected overall experience, but I just didn't enjoy the food. I wouldn't avoid Brooklyn Pickle in the future, but I can't imagine seeking it out again. read more

I lived in Virginia for 7 years, and 3 years ago, we lost the one amazing Jewish deli in the whole Hampton Roads region. As a new resident of Raleigh, I'm on a mission to find a great deli here! And my travels took me to Brooklyn Pickle, only a few minutes from where I live and work. The ordering process was confusing; I was not sure what side of the line to step to. But I went with the BP Special sandwich: pastrami, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing; I had them add some brown mustard and I opted for light rye instead of dark rye since I like the caraway seeds. They have a lot of other free topping options, if the customer desires. The portion size of meat was not quite what you might get at a NY deli but it was still higher than the bread, which is key. Good quality meat as well. It did come with a few pickle chips, but you can purchase additional pickles too. Of course, they have Dr. Brown's soda, a non-negotiable. Good luck with the parking around lunch time, it's not the easiest spot! But it was a good deli and worth returning to. Maybe not a home run, but certainly a solid double. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. I ordered a pick up order for 3:15PM. When I arrived I gave my first name and last initial. The workers seemed a little bit confused however they had made my order earlier in the day and stored it in the fridge. No big deal, they once we confirmed it was a pre order they knew what it is. We went to the Brooklyn Pickle for dinner looking forward to a new NY deli in Raleigh. The Brooklyn Pickle counter could benefit from simple signage... order here ... pay here. The sign please wait for server led me to believe someone was going to take me to a table or invite me to the counter. Instead I walked up to the counter and asked am I supposed to order here? One of employees proceeded to take our order. We ordered Reuben and Pastrami sandwiches. The pastrami tasted bland like a processed deli counter sliced meat. My wife thought the Reuben tasted pretty good. The amount of pastrami and corned beef was good and the light rye was good.
