I was last here about seven years ago because I don't live in the area. We're visiting family here in Cary and based on our great memories of the place, coming to Johnny's was a must on our itinerary. I'm super super happy to say that everything that made this place so wonderful seven years ago is still here. The pizza is still spot on, the portions are still huge, and the value for the money can't be beat. The employees were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome when we walked through the door and during our time eating . My notoriously picky son who was not here with us seven years ago loved the pizza so much that he told us that he wants to live here in the restaurant (and I'm not convinced that he's kidding). I don't know when we'll next be in Cary, but as long as Johnny's Pizza is here, they'll have loyal customers in me and my family. We came here for a late dinner on a week night. The young man at the register was so helpful. We got one of the specials which was a large pizza with beef and spinach and a choice of appetizer. I chose the cheese breadsticks. Both came out quickly and were delicious. The pizza didn't have much spinach but a good amount of beef. The breadsticks were not breadsticks at all but dough with cheese on top. It was much different and much bigger than I expected. Could have been cleaner and the atmosphere is just ok. Good pizza but I still like my favorite place better for flavor, cleanliness and atmosphere. read more

We had ordered from here before but I didn't get to try it because it was a very busy gathering and night for me. Today in the area and chose to come in for a slice since it's on the menu. The slice is $5 plus $1.50 per topping. However, they have a great daily special of $9.95 for 2 slices and a drink. The flavor was excellent and the dough, oh man! Definitely a NY type of slice. I truly enjoyed the decor also. Great hanging pieces on the tall wall depicting some of NYC. Very clean and the staff, especially Tonino was very courteous and attentive. I stopped for lunch at Johnny's Pizza in Cary. I don't think I have been to that location since the Yelp Event here a few years back as I live closer to another location. The restaurant is in the Harris Teeter shopping center so has plenty of parking. The high ceilings are what you first notice when walking inside. Seating is available downstairs, upstairs or outside on the patio. I was greeted when I walked in and given some time to order at the counter. I knew the Wake Forest location had a lunch special so that is what I ordered. What I forgot was how big the slices were. It was a good deal for all the food and enough to take one of the slices to go. I do prefer the normal-sized slices as they are easier to eat but these were very good. The menu has a lot of pizza options, wings, pastas and salads. So there is something that should please everyone. read more

I've lived in Cary for a long time, and Johnny's Pizza has been around since I've been in high school. And you know what, I wasn't a fan of their pizza back then! Back in the day, you could put your napkin on top of the pizza and it would instantly become soaked in grease through and through. You could put a second napkin on top and it would make no difference. I felt I could not get past that, but it seems as if they have made some changes for the better! Nowadays, Johnny's is serving up solid New York Style pizza that is not too heavy and tastes delicious. The big change was the amount of cheese was reduced, ultimately leading to less grease on top, and more desire to eat the pizza. The sauce itself is also pretty good, you can actually taste the tomatoes in it. The crust has a nice crisp and makes a nice noise when you bit into it. I found myself eating over half the pizza unconsciously while watching TV, I couldn't believe how much the pizza had improved! Johnny's also serves other dishes as well. My go-to used to be their chicken parmesan sandwich. Although not a huge sandwich, the flavors really popped and the chicken parm itself was done really well. I would recommend this dish if you aren't in the mood for a New York slice. Johnny's is clearly an example of a place that has changed over my lifetime for the better. Grabbed pizza from here recently and enjoyed it! Parking was easy since there's a large parking lot nearby. We got a sausage pie and it was prepared quickly and was actually larger than I expected. Honestly, the appearance was a little underwhelming (it looked like "cheap pizza," if that makes sense), but it tasted pretty darn good! The staff were all polite as well. I'd definitely swing by here again if I had a hankering for some pizza. read more

My wife and I came her for a Yelp event last year and we're absolutely blown away by the friendliness of the owners and staff. After trying their food, we knew we had to come back. I'm not usually a fan of local pizza places. I always find them too greasy and without much flavor, but not Johnny's Pizza. I've tried maybe 5 or 6 different pizzas at this point and they've all tasted fresh and delicious. The interior restaurant is roomy so you aren't bumping into tables or other customers if it gets busy, and they're super quick with an order. The prices may seem a little steep at first glance, but I can assure you these sizes are huge. A medium pizza here is easily a large at any other pizzeria. read more

It's been a while since I have been back to Johnnys in Cary. The Brooklyn white pizza is everything and more. It's worth every penny. We also got a free order of knots just for checking in on this Yelp app! But the person taking my order ended up charging me for the knots as I had a $10.00 gift certificate from my prior Yelp event here and she said I could not use both after she charged me. The Yelp coupon did not specify that. But more than that, my friend that I was with had the exact same gift certificate and Yelp free knot order and they honored both. So she didn't pay but I did. I ordered a side salad and was disappointed in the salad for $7.00. The salad was not fresh and the salad just had tomato and cucumbers and onions. The cheese was extra. The dressing was the house blend which I liked. I don't care for big chunks of lettuce and especially if it's the rough parts of lettuce. And sadly we were here for hours chatting and no one ever asked us if we needed anything or checked on us. read more

I thought they were closed during lunchtime as there were no cars parked in front and the windows are tinted so dark I couldn't see inside. I was just going to drive by, but decided to go take a look. Their "open" sign is so far up on the building you have to be a giant to see it! I got a slice and forgot how massive they are!! Should have asked for it to be cut in half cos it's too much to handle. I asked for it to be cooked well done and it was perfect. The only drawback I saw was I passed by at least five tabletops that were dirty when I looked for somewhere to sit. It was surprising cos there was noone there when I arrived and they barely had any customers as I sat and ate. Even more so, the owner didn't even notice it. Johnny's is easily now my favorite pizza in Raleigh. As a native New Yorker, I know pizza. Johnny's manages to deliver a crispy thin NY crust, light on the oil, a perfect cheese pull, a sauce that lacks high acidity and they are heavy handed on the toppings for the value. The service here is excellent and I will continue to visit for pies and wings. They have a plethora of flavorful wing sauces. Honey mustard being my favorite. I dined yesterday for the 2nd time with my family. There is plenty of indoor booth seating and outdoor patio tables. We decided on the meat lover's pie and Buffalo wings. The Duke game was on the big screens so we enjoyed that. The young man at the register was very kind and delivered our food to our table rather quickly. Our pie was hot and packed with all the meat you can dream of. Sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon... you name it ! The slices at Johnny's are as big as your head. Alrighty guys listen up. I went to Johnny's pizza yesterday. This pizza was spot on. Everything I needed and more. I got a slice of pepperoni and it was to die for. I even ate the crust, which was a perfect texture. I'm a classic New York Italian girl, and boy they didn't disappoint. I will be coming here again and again. The pic attached is my friends plate. I think you can tell she liked it . I am personally not a wing person but I only heard good things about them. I didn't get a close up picture of the menu but they have so many options. I saw someone walking by with garlic knots and I was jealous. I was yearning. I was pining for those knots. I will be back for them. Anyway, moral of the story is that this is a great place. You can watch the game on one of their many tvs and get great service all the while. If you want a slice of home, come to Johnny's. I was invited to attend a Yelp Elite event as a plus one of Yelp Elite member. The event included samples of numerous menu items, Yelp inspired goodies, a sparkling wine (Rose Water) sample, a cornhole competition and a raffle. The owner of Johnny's Pizza was on hand to mingle with the Yelp Elite members and their guests. I especially enjoyed hearing Johnny speak about how his businesses assist with the needs of the local communities. Personally, I believe in supporting local business that appreciate their customers and are involved in their local areas. I also appreciated seeing that Johnny is a fellow Philadelphia Eagles fan. Fly Eagles Fly! The environment of restaurant was inviting and full of positive personalities. For the past two weeks, I've been daydreaming about what I plan to order. As you can imagine, I built up an exciting anticipation. I placed a call in order. I ordered Chicken Parmigiana. It was windy, and leaves and debris were all over the floor from the door opening and closing. The staff was pleasant. I was disappointed on this visit. For me, the hand-breaded chicken and marinara sauce is the driver. The pasta is just an added indulgence that pairs so well. I preferred fettuccine pasta with Alfredo sauce. It's something about the marinara and the Alfredo sauce that's oh-so comforting. Johnny's Pizza did not deliver on this entree or cure the craving. The quality of the chicken was poor. Very thin, dry, and overcooked. Reminded me of Tyson processed rib meat. The breading was super dark, and the breading had come off in the pasta. I consumed half of a breast and couldn't eat anymore. I removed the chicken pieces from the dish to discover why it didn't seem right. The coating was flavorful, as well as the pasta. I just had pasta. I could not eat the chicken. Justifiable three star- the staff pleasantries were good. All the flavors in this dish were perfect. The chicken was off. Seem to have been either sitting in sauce for a while or over-fried. We recently had our Yelp Elite Members get-together at this restaurant and there couldn't have been a better choice to hold it! First of all huge kudos to the owner of this fine pizza and all things Italian American joint - Johnny P who warmly welcomed us to the place and along with our hard-working community manager Josh! And from there we sampled awesomely crafted wings and pizza. By the way, did I say that apart from how delicious their pizza is, is how huge the slices are? These are NYC size slices and not just the traditional pepperoni, but also old school classics like the Margherita. I've never had an amazingly hearty Margherita the size of my face! The food here is so good that after the affair i ordered a large half meat lovers/Hawaiian pizza to go. I've never had a pizza box as big as this... wow! So I'm finally home and come dinnertime I helped myself to two slices and re-heated them in my oven For me the best way to see if the pizza is made well is if a few hours later it tastes just as good as the time it came out of the oven the first time. Drumroll please... Oh my goodness, it still does! Normally there's some leveling off of taste after the pizza gets a little older. These did not falter at all. Which goes that the owner didn't skimp on ingredients. Its prepared with respect to the craft. And I truly admire that. I attended an event at Johnny's Pizza in Cary, NC today. I had not eaten at Johnny's Pizza before, so I was eager to try their food. Johnny's Pizza restaurant has a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel like family. The space within the restaurant is utilized well. It is not cramped nor too spaced out. It is just right. The staff greeted me with a smile, was professional, and welcoming. I like pizza but it is not typically my go to food item because of the overly greasiness. Johnny's pizza was not very greasy at all. I was highly impressed by that. The dough was sufficiently thin, slices were large, and the flavor was fantastic. I don't eat pork or beef, so I had the cheese pizza. The flavor of the cheese pizza tasted original. After taking my first bite, I felt like I literally had a custom made pizza as it was not a familiar cheese pizza flavor/taste as from other pizza restaurants. I also had the opportunity to try two flavors of their wings. They were both great! One tasted like honey barbecue, and the other more like a garlic Parmesan flavor. What I enjoyed most about these wings is that they were cooked properly. I prefer my wings to be adequately cooked and not soggy inside. These were done perfectly! Another highlight of today's event, besides the camaraderie, the ambience, and the food, was that I got to meet Johnny, the owner, in person. Johnny was very personable and approachable. He was friendly and down to earth which I appreciated. He has a wonderful personality, and seemed very genuine. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit at Johnny's Pizza. Went to Johnny's Pizza Cary for the first time with my family. Asked the teenager at the front if we can take a booth and they said sure. There was only one other table occupied. We sat for about 10min with another worker walking past. None of the workers mentioned we had to order first then sit down. Not sure if there was a sign to order first or that this isn't a traditional sit down pizza shop. I would recommend the staff be trained to at-least be aware that some customers don't know. We were in the area and craving some pizza. We did a call in order for a Brooklyn White Pizza - Large. The wait was about 20 mins and everything was GOOD! The slices were thin, good ratio of toppings to sauce, good quality toppings - just a good value for your money. We had leftovers and the box converted into a container that fit right into the fridge! How cool is that? Oh and the re-heat - amazing! We tossed it into the air fryer and it tasted just as good as the first bite. Easily one of our favorite places to go now for a good thin NY style pizza. read more

Went to the yelp event yesterday and it was quite organized but very busy. We got checked in and were given food tickets and raffle tickets. My partner didn't wanted pizza or wings that was on the table so he went to go buy a salad but when he went to pay, they told him he didn't have to and it was part of the event to get add ons! That was so crazy and very generous. He said the salad was very refreshing. The chicken had nice flavor and was grilled well and the house dressing he said was very delicious. His only qualms with the salad was there were too many red onions. We both also liked that it was served in the metal bowl the salad is assumedly tossed in. It seems very economical and eco friendly. Doesn't waste plastic by automatically putting it Togo clamshell, and doesn't waste more water by using two dishes. I tried what was initially offered, which was pizza and wings. I really enjoyed my Hawaiian slice. The ham was small slices and had a nice crisp, instead of really large, slick/slimy ham. I liked the dough of the pizza. The wings were surprisingly crispy for being in a pan all packed together. Loved the honey mustard sauce, so delicious. The bbq was good too. Nice and sweet with lots of sauce. I didn't get a picture of it but I tried one hot wing and I wasn't a big fan of it. It was pretty oily/greasy for my personal taste, I'd stick to the other sauces. The staff and owner here are very friendly , always. I've been here once before not for an event, and they were still very friendly. This isn't about Johnny's but the wine water was part of the yelp event, so I'll review it here too. My partner and I were not fans at all. It was literally what it's called, Wine Water. My first time visiting Johnny's Pizza in Cary and I'll definitely be back. I can't believe this little quaint pizza spot has been right under my noise and I've never visited. From the moment you walk in there's such a welcoming vibe for you to sit down and relax while enjoying pizza and wings by yourself of with a family. I was able to meet Johnny who was awesome and told us a little about his journey in the Pizza biz which makes it that much more welcoming. Knowing I'm supporting a locally owned business. The staff were super helpful and friendly throughout my time there and able to answer any questions. The food was sooo good. I'm from Jersey and I'm pretty hard on pizza and this pizza was top notch. The crust was crispy and the right amount of sauce and cheese. But what was even better were the wings. Wings are tricky but these were cooked to perfection and the Honey mustard sauce was just amazing. I love the feel that Johnny's give for those that just want to pop in and pick up or come and sit awhile, kick back, get cozy and watch a game or 2. They definitely deserve 5stars all around for friendliness, ambiance, cleanliness and the quality of food. This is some great pizza. Correction- as of today, this will be my go-to pizza spot in the city. Very surprised after all this time of living right in the area I am just getting to try it but I am VERY happy to have found it! I was craving a white pizza so bad and was worried about finding a pizza spot that could make it well. A lot of pizza places are just not that good. I decided on this place and got the Brooklyn white pizza without sausage and it was AMAZING! My whole family was in love with it and I will say we have some picky eaters. I got the order to go and they came out to my car with it. They seemed to have forgotten I was waiting in the car and was about 10 minutes late and I didn't say anything about it but they gave me a $10 gift-card as an apology which was extremely kind!!! Most places wouldn't think to compensate or go out of their way unless they get a complaint. The person at the front taking my order was also nice. Good service goes a LONG way. I saw that their menu offers a wide array of items other than pizza like subs, pastas, and appetizers from Buffalo shrimp, cheese bread, jalapeño poppers, calamari, and more.
