Lilly's is always good and a Raleigh institution. It always seems to get more crowded as the night goes on. The staff is friendly, and it could probably use an overhaul but then maybe that's part of its charm. I'm not sure if it's changed in 20 years or more.

The pizza was really tasty, with a perfectly baked crust and high-quality toppings. The cheese was gooey, and the sauce had just the right amount of seasoning. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff was friendly.

Great food and greater service. While waiting for our pizza Mohsin entertained us with great conversation. Quote of the night "I got Mohsin in the ocean" - Mohsin

The Super Duper rocks. Homemade organic tomato sauce, monterey jack, sharp cheddar, pepperoni, italian sausage, Mozzarella, all-natural ground beef & bacon. pizza has what I want. Check it out online for the menu before you arrive so you know what's going to be good for you.

Mushrooms removed from two slices of pizza. One of the dissected slices of pizza next to it for size reference.

We ordered the Gus pizza and added roasted potatoes. As someone who loves mushrooms on a pizza and in general this pizza was OVERLOADED with mushrooms. It was inedible. We spent a lot of time removing the mushrooms under the cheese and the pile of mushrooms removed from two slices of a 14 inch pizza was astounding. I have never in my life seen such a mound of fungi. The mushroom flavor was overwhelming. There are many types of mushrooms listed on the menu that top this pizza, but my lord the amount was crazy! (Picture of the mushroom pile removed from 2 slices) Positives: -The crust was delicious -Lots of unique and creative pizzas and toppings

We love Lilly's Pizza Drove by it for years, wife and I finally went. It's got the hole in the wall eclectic look. When you walk in the door that yeasty pizza dough brick oven smell hits you. We get a medium pizza with pesto as the base then top it with pepperonis, Bacon & Kalamata olives yum yum

I have been intermittently going to Lilly's for years during family trips to NC. It's a delightfully weird indie contribution to the flowering Five Points neighbrorhood. As has been the trend nationally, the vegan options (my preferred choice) have gotten appreciably better over the years and they can now make one of the better vegan pies I've had in the South. Lilly's features local art ranging from children's drawings through professional quality. It may be for sale--I've never asked. There's a mannequin in shades at the front counter. I've never asked about that, either. There's a model airplane and other bric-a-brac hanging from the celing. You just go with it, as the funky vibe is sort of what you're there for. It is true that you will wait a while for your food, that you have to track down your own utensils and napkins, that Lilly's is short on frills, but those are all things that you pay for at other places, and the self-service ethos keeps the place on the cheaper side. All I can say is that you'll figure out pretty quickly if it's your scene or not. I'm a fan, and it's a cut above the corporate joints. Draft and bottled beers are availalbe. Parking is on street. Masking protocols are iffy.

Still one of my favorite pizza pies 15 years later. I just love this place. Great spot to meet up with friends and share a pie.

The restaurant is nice and dimly lit with plenty of seating, but you will have to find street parking around Glenwood. We were a party of 6 and they pulled together tables to accommodate us. Our server was a little slow but still friendly. For starters we got a Margherita pizza, calamari, the grilled caesar, and they brought us a complimentary bread basket with oil. Everything except the caesar was good. I guess we didn't expect the caesar to taste THAT charred and the lettuce to not be chopped. For main entrees, we ordered lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne alla vodka, and alfredo. The vodka pasta and lasagna were unflavored and disliked among the table. I would not recommend those dishes. The alfredo was okay. The best dish was the lobster ravioli.

First of all, I implore anyone wanting to go, make reservations during peak hours! We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

It was my first time visiting, and I overall enjoyed the vibes. There's a nice variety of beer selections on tap. The food options are pretty pizza-heavy, but no complaints there. I had the Export Stout for my drink. I am a coffee stout fanatic, and this one was pretty meh. I wasn't getting a lot of coffee notes from it, and it didn't feel as full-bodied as most stouts I've had. Not horrible, but I wasn't overly enthused. However food-wise, the meatball and ricotta pizza was my jam. I love ricotta anything, and the dough had a great chew to it. We stayed basically right up until closing, and the vibes definitely got less hospitable the closer to closing it got. 10 minutes before closing, we were asked to pour our beers into a plastic cup from our glass cups. I've never had that experience at any brewery before. A bit odd lol - like closing right on time was the priority at all costs over the customer experience. But overall, we had a decent first visit, and I would come back.
