Stopped by Anthony's La Piazza Prime while spending the evening down in Glenwood South. When you arrive there is parking available in the hotel garage or parallel on the street. Walking into the restaurant it has a lively, upscale, and New York influenced vibe. When you enter the restaurant you'll check in with the host to be seated and then be shown to your table. Once seated we were greeted by our server Brittney who made sure the dining experience was excellent. It also happened to be her birthday, happy birthday once again Brittney!! For drinks I ordered the Long Island Iced tea (vodka, rum, tequila, gin, triple sec, sour mix, and a splash of cola) and my partner ordered the Appletini (vodka, sour apple pucker, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup). Both drinks were excellent and were nice and smooth. For our entree we split the Chicken Parmigiana with spaghetti. We also ordered a side of spaghetti and it was the perfect amount of food for two people. The chicken parm was seasoned perfectly and may be one of the best I've ever tried. Really great dinner to satisfy an Italian food craving! We had Brittney who was such an amazing, kind, and gracious waitress throughout our dinner. Brittney gave amazing recommendations and helped us narrow down a large menu of options, and we were not led astray. I opted for the Appletini, which was delicious and not overly sweet. We also ordered the chicken parmigiana which was a HUGE hunk of chicken that was perfectly breaded and cooked. If you do share, I would recommend ordering an extra side of pasta (though heads up it is roughly $10 for extra noodles, but you won't regret it). Aside from that, heads up that the hours on their website, Yelp, and Google indicate that they close at 10 pm most nights. We went in at 9 pm thinking we still had a full hour before closing, and they were kind enough to still serve us. But we came to find out they actually close at 9 (not 10 as the public info indicates). So definitely plan on coming in earlier just in case. Either way, we enjoyed our meal and the great service. The food is what saved this from 1 star. There were four tables in the restaurant and we were told they were understaffed in the front of house, so we had some leniency with lack of steps of service. However it took over 45 minutes to get our two entrees; we watched the one other two top who ordered after us get their food 20 minutes prior to us. We were told that our order got in behind the 8 top and wouldn't come out until after them but we ordered before them, so there was a failure on the staff to not get ours in first. We had to ask about our food multiple times and after we finally got it, we were told we were getting a small discount. The best tip that I can share is toss the spaghetti in the sauce versus just putting a blob of sauce in the container with the hopes it will cover all the pasta. 10/10 experience as always. Still my go to spot every time I travel to Raleigh for work. I was sad to see that they adjusted their hours a little and don't open until 1pm due to low foot traffic and slow business for them. The chef was very kind and made us a little extra for lunch- such a great guy! Thank you for always making your food with a lot of love and care. I wanted to like this place so much more than I actually did - I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka and the sauce was extremely thin. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parm and he said the sauce tasted like jar sauce :(. The owner of the restaurant chose to try and dispute my subjective opinion of his restaurant, without taking ownership of his lack of leadership and organization. He did this to many other individuals who left a 1 star review due to his poor management on Valentine's Day. Sadly, he did exactly what business owners should not do and blamed the customer rather than take accountability. He stated that the restaurant had "a few hiccups" that is an understatement. During our two hours wait we saw 3 other couples get up and leave. Our waiter stated that "everything was a mess" but never came to check on us or inform us what was happening. Furthermore, he said that he only had 4 bad reviews out of 400 tables. I find that hard to believe. He only had 4 tables that felt the need to leave a review. I guarantee that there are more people than 4 that will never go back. Additionally, he said that my wife and I were rude to his waitstaff, which is a bold face lie! We did not even speak to the waitstaff enough to give them an impression of us. He says he's a nice guy, but sadly his conduct shows that he is not a nice guy. I do not care what ethnicity you are "manners are manners" and this guy has none. I will make it my mission to let anyone I meet to avoid the restaurant at all costs. Amazing food with excellent service! Started off with a glass of Chianti, excellent! For dinner we had the Pappardelle Bolognese, Rigatoni Alla Vodka, and Chicken Saltimboca. All three were great, but the Rigatoni was my favorite with a close tie for the chicken. We ended the night with Cheesecake, which was ok, and would not get again. Overall, the food and service were 5 stars. The ambience was a little mixed for me, fancy, but with a giant TV in the dining room. The prices were a little high, plus they charge 4% to use a credit card in a time when almost everywhere is cashless. Initial first impressions of this place were not great, there are these weird cheap looking lights on the windows, and there is a horrible sewage smell as you walk in the building (according to the people at the restaurant it is due to the grease trap being placed in a bad spot). They said they were out of bread, not sure how an Italian restaurant runs out of bread? MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE IN DOWNTOWN RALEIGH!!! This place has a desirable vibe inside & outside (on the patio). Great view of Glenwood Ave as well. Nighttime is laidback, they offer tables and chairs outside. You can eat &/or sip outside while enjoying the night breeze or admiring the nightlife. What a disappointment. I had been looking forward to a night out at Anthony's La Piazza for months. We finally lined up a babysitter, drove 30 minutes downtown, paid $10 to park, and arrived right on time for our 7:00 PM reservation -- only to be told it would be at least a 30-minute wait. I understand things happen, but what made it worse was standing by the front door for over 30 minutes without seeing anyone seated. There were empty tables in plain sight the entire time. The hostess had no updates when I asked, and there was no explanation or apology. It felt disorganized and, honestly, like no one was in control or concerned about managing expectations. After waiting more than 40 minutes with no end in sight, we decided to leave. By that point, even if we had been seated, the experience was already soured. A rare date night shouldn't feel like you're just standing around hoping someone eventually notices you. Unfortunately, I won't risk going back, which is a real letdown. read more

I had eaten many times at LaPiazza one of my favorite restaurants (the same owner) at 50/210 and this was my favorite go to plate.
