    Gluten Free White Pizza
    Amanda K.

One of the best gluten free pizzas I've ever had, and it's not a flat stupid cauliflower crust! I got the white pizza and loved it, but felt it needed more flavor, so I dipped it in some red sauce I had. My boyfriend got a regular cheese pizza and there definitely wasn't enough cheese on it, but still enjoyable. I would come back and now know how to modify some things!

We continue to be impressed by this place. Came here again tonight for our usual two pies, one square, one cheese and pepperoni (pictured). Pizza was perfect as always but my genius husband suggested a Caesar salad so we got one. I need you to understand that this salad is life changing. The lettuce is so crisp and perfect it's like an angel blessed it with a kiss. And it has toasted breadcrumbs and the best parm cheese on it. Their dressing is perfection too. I'm sorry I don't have a pic. But seriously go get that - like immediately.

This place is great. One of the best caesar salads i've ever had. The pizza was good too, i loved the sauce. The price was very reasonable, a coke, salad, and pizza split by 2 people was around $20. Service was great, the place is very small so be ready to wait if you want to eat inside.

Great pizza! Place is tiny so we did have to wait ~20-25 min for a table on a Thursday night but worth it. The square pie was so flavorful. Fresh basil, garlic-y, crispy crust.

The best pizza in NC. Our first visit and really enjoyed the experience. A very simple menu that is practically priced. Jasmine our waitress offered great guidance and service. The pizza and salads were amazing.

this was definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had and one of the best Caesar salads! We waited about 30 min on a Friday night to get a table and the staff were extremely nice.

I've heard of this place for months when people talk about authentic pizza. Living in NC for my entire life I can't speak on that but what I can tell you is if I had ate it at the restaurant vs delivery I do believe it would have been the best pizza I've ever had in my life and I'm 53. Kudos to the Oakwood Team!

    Canceled order.

I tried to place a delivery order last night, as shown in the screenshot attached. The order was confirmed, and we were waiting for an update, only to receive a cancellation message over an hour later, right around 8:40 PM. This left me scrambling to find dinner for me and my guests from somewhere else before everything closed on a Sunday night. This isn't the first time we've had issues with this location--pickup/delivery orders have also been inconsistent in the past. Always love supporting a local spot, but we won't be ordering from here again.

Hands down the best pizza in Raleigh. Take out can be a huge mess, BUT they are opening a new take out only location where Capital Creations used to be. Just trust me and go try it piping hot out of the oven. Simple menu with 2 drafts and a grand wine list. Servers are very busy with all that is going on with walk-ins and take out but do an effective job.

Someone recommended this place so I decided to try it out I just got a pepperoni pizza. You can't get slices so I had to get a whole pie, it was about $27. It was very delicious, I could tell the ingredients were high quality. I will definitely be back.

This pizza is so good. My husband placed a takeout order online and selected a caesar salad, the cheese pizza and an order of cannolis. The menu is small but that is because the pizzas they offer are that good. I can't wait to dine in next time and try the square pizza.

    Cheese pizza with meatball

When we walked by on a Friday night, this place was crawling with people. A restaurant snafu the following night luckily left me with the opportunity to try Oakwood for dinner. While they don't open until 5PM, I placed the order online midafternoon for a 5:30PM pickup. When I arrived a few minutes before 5:30, people were waiting outside and I asked a kind gentleman what the order of operations was. He advised me to let them know I was there in case my food was ready. It was and I very happily walked with my massive pizza box to the car. There a small park a block away and my husband and I sat on a bend with our pizza. We cheese pizza with meatball. It was delicious, though k would have liked a little more cheese. The dough was crisp and so good. They gave me basil leaves to put on the slices. I can see why this place is a neighborhood favorite! As we were eating a woman walking her dog asked if we were eating Oakwood. When we said it was our first time, she asked if we got the white pizza-when we said no-she said we had to try it next time. So take note, if you're going for the first time, you can get a half and half pizza.

Our server was a little slow but still friendly. For starters we got a Margherita pizza, calamari, the grilled caesar, and they brought us a complimentary bread basket with oil. Everything except the caesar was good. I guess we didn't expect the caesar to taste THAT charred and the lettuce to not be chopped. For main entrees, we ordered lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne alla vodka, and alfredo. The vodka pasta and lasagna were unflavored and disliked among the table. I would not recommend those dishes. The alfredo was okay. The best dish was the lobster ravioli.

First of all, I implore anyone wanting to go, make reservations during peak hours! We entered through a big heavy wooden door into the quasi-dark atmosphere and were promptly seated, despite most of the tables being occupied. We were given a two top and started with chips and guacamole. I was impressed with the chips, they were a little extra thick, had tiny bubbles in them. Certainly a far departure from the typical thin, overly salty chip found at most restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent guac with a little pico and lime wedge on the side. I ordered the Baja bowl with shredded adobo chicken. The bowl had green rice, black beans, a whole lot of kale, tomatillo sauce, pickled red onions, crema, and cilantro. It needed a little more, so I added in some of the guac, a few chips I crumbled in my hands for some crunch, and some fresh lime juice. Noah did a good job keeping our water glasses full and he was quite friendly. However, the restroom situation is a bit difficult. There are two small unisex bathrooms, both of which have to be locked. There can't be more than one person in there at the same time, so plan accordingly. Granted, since there isn't much space in the restaurant, it's not as if they have a ton of options.

"Best Pizza" many years running back when that actually meant something. Now? It feels less like a restaurant and more like a nostalgic reenactment gone very wrong. The menu still reads like a dream--Carolina crust this, atomic sauce that--but ordering has become a real exercise in imagination. Half the ingredients are apparently on a spiritual journey and no longer physically present. You'll ask for sharp cheddar and get a thoughtful pause, followed by, "We don't have sharp cheddar, we might have a Wisconsin sharp cheddar?" --which, to their credit, has the word "cheddar" in it. The staff move with the energy of a group project that everyone forgot was due today. Pizzas emerge... interpretively. You might order a margherita and receive something that captures its essence, emotionally, if not structurally. It's less "wrong order" and more "pizza as a suggestion." A master of creative problem-solving, this cashier has boldly redefined the concept of "making change." Why fumble with buttons and math when you can simply hand over two beers and call it even? It's less of a transaction and more of a surprise gift exchange--one where the rules are unclear and the outcome is mildly concerning. And the wine list--oh, the wine list--is a beautiful historical document. A relic. A time capsule from at least six months ago, when bottles still existed and hope flowed freely. Now, asking for wine feels like asking about a long-lost friend. "We don't have that," they'll say, gazing into the middle distance. Still, there's something oddly annoying about it all. Like walking into a once-revered theater that still clings to its golden-age reputation. The performances feel like echoes rather than art, the lighting flat where it once dazzled, and every scene drags with the weight of trying to live up to a forgotten past. It's not bad enough to be a disaster--just disappointing enough to make you wonder if the hype was ever real or if you're just eating the ghost of someone else's great experience. Cheers!
