This location opened up close to home sometime again and I finally got the opportunity to visit. The psychedelic/shrooms decor is awesome. Sat at the bar, the bartender was great dude. He recommended the Holy Shitake pie and we added half of the great white and let me tell you that recommendation was on point. I went again and had the super pepp and the pacific rim and they were awesome too, but the Holy Shitake takes the number 1 right now. We'll be back to try the rest of the combinations for sure! Since my last review, I can honestly say this place still rocks. We've been to this Mellow Mushroom numerous times, and I've tried several calzones--each one has been great. If I had to pick favorites, it would be the Steak & Cheese or my build‑your‑own with cheese, ground beef, pineapple, and onions, or the meat‑lover option calzone...honestly, they're all winners. This time, I went in planning to order The Elevated Cobb, but after walking past all the amazing‑smelling pizza, we changed course and got a medium Mighty Meaty pizza which has mellow red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, honey ham, applewood-smoked bacon, mozzarella.. This place had been highly recommended to me for a long time, and I'm so glad I finally tried it at the Riverview location. I ordered a half and half pizza with the Great white and the Holy shiitake and both were delicious. The great white was juicy and the holy shittake had so much flavor, Such a great combination. I definitely left wanting to come back to try the karma cosmic which is next on my list. The service was excellent I sat at the bar and the bartender who took care of us was wonderful. Atmosphere - The restaurant is very bright and well decorated. There is not much in the way of acoustics and so it is loud. Service - our server was nice, but the restaurant was extremely crowded and it has a large takeout business, so service was far slower than expected. Food - I apologize for losing the picture of the sausage and green peppers pizza. It tasted great, but at least a third of the pizza was bubbled up crust. I ordered the Spinach Salad and it was excellent. Overall - my wife and I love pizza and we had circled our calendars when we learned that a MM was coming to our area. We were looking forward to making the restaurant a part of our regular schedule of dining out. However this experience was disappointing. We likely try it again. First time at this new location and I liked the atmosphere. There are booths and tables and a large bar, as well as outside seating. There is a nice beer menu, although the beer I ordered was not available. Our server was quick to take our drink order. The menu has a nice variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, calzones and pizza. I like that they have 4 slice pizzas. They have a large variety of pizzas, as well as a build your own. My husband and I shared a large sausage and green pepper pizza. We waited over 40 minutes for the pizza, which I thought was extreme. The pizza arrived with a lot of empty crust, when they could have put the sauce out further. The sauce and toppings were very good as was the crust. I just would have enjoyed it more if the sauce was extended more on the crust. read more

I haven't had mellow mushroom since I moved from my hometown of Georgia... I never visited the brandon location because it always seems empty. This Riverview location was packed on its first week open. The service was fast and they were super kind. The Parmesan wings were amazing. They allowed me to order all flats which most places do not also most places Parmesan wings are pretty bland. There's was flavorful also with a little spice. I can't wait to try the Caribbean jerk next time. The small pizza was enough for one person or maybe even two the slices were huge and filling. I tried the mushroom pizza with mushrooms, caramelized, onions, truffle oil, and a garlic aïoli sauce. Next time I will add maybe pesto or another vegetable or pepper to add some pizzazz. There was a whole bar inside outside seating to go window on the side and adequate enough parking The decor inside is very groovy and it just puts you in a great mood. read more

First time here and really liked the place. Vibe inside is pretty cool. Our server Camila was awesome. We started off with a small Cesar salad. It was plenty big of two people. Everything on salad was very fresh and dressing was great. We then got two small pizzas. One vegetarian and one shiitake pizza. Vegetarian was good but was lacking seasoning. I came here with my sister for the first time. I would hear about mellow mushroom all the time, but had never visited a restaurant before until now that they have built one Riverview. To start off with we got cheese bread and garlic Parmesan wings. They were hot, fresh, and really good. We decided to get the house special pizza size medium. Which was also hot and fresh. I will definitely be returning a visit here. Our server was very nice but this place does get busy so our server was a little busy when trying to ask for things to wrap up our evening. Love the Mellow Mushroom. I had the rolls---one with cheese, one with sausage. The sauces I chose (vodka and pesto) were really flavorful and added the perfect touch. The rolls were crispy and filling. My hubby had the calzone with pepperoni and Italian sausage. Great flavor, crunch and lots of ricotta cheese. We met friends here on a Monday night. Because the restaurant just opened recently, we came in around 4:45. By 5:00 - 5:15 the place was pretty crowded. The pizza was delicious. My wife and I did a half and half. I did the Pacific Rim, which is like a Hawaiian with onions and jalapeños. Her side was spinach and mushrooms. The crust was amazing. It had the flavor of a wheat crust, but it wasn't. So, so good. The jalapeños gave my pizza just the right kick. Our server was bubbly and attentive. This was the best experience I've had at a mellow mushroom ever and I've been to the one in Sarasota and also in Brandon. Be aware that they do have tempeh to add to your pizza or hoagies. They also offer tater tots - both tots and tempeh are not printed on the menu but available so it's worth asking and the tots were phenomenal with creamy pesto and red sauce on the side for dipping. I loved how the holy shiitake pizza turned out by adding tempeh. I loved their drinks, specially requesting a strawberry margarita with their jalapeño sour mix. I went into the Riverview Mellow Mushroom 5 days before they officially opened and made a very special request. I asked for the manager, (his name is Vince) for a huge favor. I told him about my best friend who is dying from cancer and has only weeks left to live. She had been talking about her favorite pizza, the Loaded Potato Pie Pizza, and wished that it was still on the menu, I think they discontinued it a few years ago? I asked if it was even possible to get this pizza made. Vince didn't skip a beat and said, "I will go buy the ingredients and make this pizza for her." When I picked it up, there was a small note written on the box saying, "With Love, your friends at Mellow Mushroom." This pizza was made the 2nd day the restaurant was open for business...during a grand opening, they made time for my friend. I am forever grateful.
