Will return for the delicious food. Very happy to report, that I've found a very decent Asian restaurant (mainly NOT sweet). Food: great Service: good Ambiance: pleasant Location: off US-301, a busy road Picayune: fake orchids We've ~ Garlic naan: fluffy & warm ~ Lamb saag: the best ~ Kadai chicken: flavored rice ~ Chicken biryani: spicy ~ Punugulu: light n fluffy fritters, the orange color dipping sauce has the right kick They do ask for your preferred spicy level. 'Medium' for us, which is just right. A few reviewers state their food is "too spicy", an indication that their seasoning might be right for me. They've just opened about six months ago. From outside, it looks like a dental office. The high ceiling Indian restaurant must have combined two stores (two doors) to create a single canteenish large hall. The bar at the back is empty (perhaps two more weeks to get their liquor license?): in the meantime, you can BYOB. I think they don't charge corkage fee. I like their large plastic plates (100% melamine - Milton) - it's my plan to migrate to, after done with my breakable tableware (except the wine glasses). The utensils are canteen issue. Another happy event to report is the Blackbrick's lawsuit against me is finally closed, a week after Helen Freund's article published on Tampa Bay Times. Thank you for posting Hales Blackbrick's rebuttal (which has since been deleted). The restaurant's claim that I deleted and reposted the review to stay atop the review listings is misleading and disingenuous. For one thing, I have no control over Yelp engine logic for sorting their review hierarchy. Secondly, I have every right to amend my original review. To quote my attorney's succinct statements made during the hearing: "... the review that Ms Eng posted is the same review she posted the first time. Why was that review readdressed? Because after this business came out and made a statement ....calling her abusive, she reposted it..." So after the restaurant's numerous threatening messages and the cease and desist order issued to me, I simply added the screenshots, and revised my rating from 3 stars to 1 to reflect my overall experience with the restaurant. Regarding Yelp's legal disclaimer, it "...was placed specifically because of their behavior." The 3-star review in which I start out by saying, "Probably will return: one of better fusion restaurants in Florida..." hardly merits the vehemency of their reaction, let alone a lawsuit claiming 'tortious interference'. If there has been anything 'abusive' about this whole scenario, one only needs to read some of the restaurant's responses to other so-called 'negative' 1 and 2-star reviews. I come from China of the 1960's and 70's, during the heights of Chinese Communist Party oppression. I refuse to have a muzzle placed upon my thoughts and opinions.

Delicious - Mixed Vegetable Pakora, Spinach Masala Mirchi Bajji, Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan. The flavor was just fantastic. We ordered extra mild, and although there was a still a fair amount of heat, the tastebuds calmed down fairly quickly. Service was excellent, ambiance was nice but it could be made a bit more intimate or softer. We will return - definitely recommend.

Garlic Naan perfect for holding certain selections from the buffet.

A friend and I decided to expand our gastronomy and try some Indian food. We heard some good comments about an Indian buffet in Riverview called Rotis. I did a quick search of reviews for this location and the comments spoke highly of the service, food and cleanliness. Quite a few reviews spoke highly of certain buffet items such as Butter Chicken, Curry Goat, Chicken 65, Golbi Manchurian and Garlic Naan to mention a few. I made a list eager to try these items. I won't detract from the glowing reviews as the cozy interior, service and cleanliness were as stated. We knew there would be a $20 per person charge for their Saturday buffet but was disappointed to find many empty pans a short time after opening. Butter chicken, curry goat and several other choices yielded the sauce the items were marinated in but not the item. We bought this to the servers attention but the kitchen staff seemed ill prepared to replenish the tray. We chose other tasty items and more rice than I wanted while waiting for our choice items which arrived when we paid our bill. $20 is a bit expensive for plates of rice and pans of other items that dinners seem to pass on. The crowds arriving attest to the popularity of this location and we will give Rotis another visit but check the serving line before we choose a table.

Better than expected. We order "medium" spice. It was great. It's a bit hotter than an American medium so adjust as needed. We had the Dolsa. It was fantastic and had some great sauces to go with it. Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken curry hit the comfort food zone. The young man severing us what really polite and helpful.

This is a new Indian spot that just opened in Riverview. It took over a Pho spot that closed down. It has ample parking and a large dining room. It's bright, clean, and spacious. The food was great. I love Indian food but am really picky about it. Everything we had here was pretty good, though. Their menu was a little bit limited, but it still has a lot of great selections. Their butter chicken was really flavorful. Their naan was on point!! The biryani was very good. I think next time, though, I would get it with another protein than the chicken 65 as I think I prefer chicken 65 on its own as an appetizer. This is a cuisine this area has been needing, so I am so happy to see a delicious Indian spot come to Riverview.

Decided to try this Indian restaurant and the food was fantastic! Enjoyed the butter chicken, rice and garlic naan bread. So good. Even got some to go. Everyone was friendly but the they are understaffed. They use the serving robots and had 2 people serving and still service was just really slow. Hope they improve that because the food was delicious!

    Huge portions!

The staff was very friendly. They asked how we heard of them, which was honestly just driving by. If I'm honest, Indian food is not my favorite, but I'm so glad we came by. Everything was so flavorful. I had the chicken dum byrani with the garlic naan. I could eat the naan for days & the byrani was spicier than I expected but so sooo good. My husband had the Lamb vindaloo which he crushed. I gave it a try and it was good! All the portions were a good size & the prices were great for what you get.

Being West Indian and family from Trinidad naturally when I saw the name Roti's I automatically thought I could go and get a roti, made on a flat iron grill. Sadly it was not so. Hubby was already there so went ahead and ordered the curry goat and he ordered the curry chicken, both ordered mild. The goat lacked and true flavor of seasoning and was not tender, more rubbery. The container it came in was full more of gravy than meat. Hubby curry chicken was okay, nothing great for curry chicken. The big disappointment to accompany the meat is it only came with white rice! No vegetables no bread no naan nothing. To order a meal and not even be given any vegetables with the high cost of eating out is ridiculous. Over all this was not a good experience and for our hard earned money will not be visiting again. The food is expensive, customers should at least get a complete meal for the price.

Roti's in Riverview was a good experience. I was craving Indian food and saw this was close by, so we gave it a try and we were not disappointed. On the inside it is very spacious and open. The staff was attentive and ran us down on what's frequently ordered, and what they recommend in case we wanted to try something new. We ordered the mango lassi which was soooo good. I feel like you HAVE to order it when you get Indian food! For our appetizer we got the veggie samosas and they were great. Two came in an order but they were huge, and stuffed to the brim with filling. They came with two different chutneys which were both equally delicious. For entrees we got butter chicken and a chicken biryani. The biryani was a big portion and could easily be split by two people. It was spicy and flavorful. My butter chicken was also good, but it was really heavy on the tomato base which I've never experienced before. I tend to like mine a bit more creamy but it still had good flavors and it was a decent portion. Would come back to try something new!

    Chicken Curry, medium spicy

My wife and I visited Roti for the 1st time since it opened in Riverview. It's a pleasant surprise that we have found an authentic Indian restaurant in this town as it's so hard to find quality Indian foods here in SW Florida. We will definitely be back often. Btw, medium spicy if good enough for us and we can eat very spicy foods. We ordered chicken curry, chicken dum piryani and a garlic naan. The portion was good along with its price. Service was great too.

Still waiting at 1:15 hrs after order.

Can this be a zero star or 1 negative stat. Ordered food to go at 7:01 PM, and was told that it will take 30-40 mins. Came back at 8PM and asked for my order and looked like they havent even prepared any. 8:12 and still 2 of 4 orders to be done. Disappointing, they dont even seems to be worried or have any sense of customer service. If you would like to eat here, better come after you have a full meal so that it will be just right once the food is ready, it is your next meal. Pls take this with a grain of salt. Making this review while been waaaaaaiiiiting for so long, hungry and no one even offered a status update of how much longer it will take. Update: Taste of food is really good although a bit too spicy for a mild selection. Is it worth the wait, not really especially if you're hungry and family is hungry. Saw a few customers left because of a long wait. Is it worth to try? Maybe and hopefully the place improves to a point that we will be willing to give it another try.

    Cynthia C.

Chicken butter, naan is good- goat curry is extremely on the salty side. Mango Lassi really thick, fresh and yummy. does not impress with the way water bottles was served.

Pickup, on the other hand, was a bit of a cluster. I arrived about 10-15 minutes after my order was ready and the first person couldn't find it on their table of takeout orders. I waited patiently, and a second person who came out to assist was able to find it within seconds. The order had been ready, and on the table the whole time. I feel like they need to rethink their order pick up process, given how busy they are with takeout orders. Moving onto the food. I will say this was one of the better Indian places I have had the pleasure of experiencing in the Tampa area. My order consisted of the chicken seekh kebab, chicken tikka masala, and garlic chili naan. The food was packed well and held up on the journey home. The food was also hot when I got home and flavored well. The chicken tikka masala does only come in medium and hot options, and the medium version I got was quite spicey. I'm used to heat and even for me it was a bit on the hotter side. Overall, a great option for this part of town if you can't make it into Tampa for other Indian places.

It's housed in a former Wendy's restaurant, and I can see why it closed. It had no visibility. The tiny signs on the building for Naans were not legible so unless you knew the restaurant, people just drive by and think it's abandoned. We arrived 30-minutes after opening and there were 2 cars in the parking lot. My first thought was they must do a great takeout. Entering the restaurant, it was nothing fancy. I'm more interested in the food, flavors, and service. The server/hostess was pleasant, but not at all attentive or checked up on us once. I ordered the garlic naan and chicken tikki Marsala. My partner asked which items are vegan, she really didn't know. At Rasoi in Ybor, the server was asked the same question and she immediately pointed out all the vegan items. There were at least eight dishes that were vegan. Only having one choice and waited 15 minutes to order, we were stuck and he ordered the Dal Tudka. The meals were delicious. The sauces and medium spices were perfect in both meals. The garlic naan was perfect for dipping. I liked the chicken was cut into cubes and didn't require a knife. And, the prices were so reasonable for the amount of food you received. My letdowns were the reason for only 3 stars. They had 8 different guests order takeout. The only customer in there when we arrived ordered by phone and waited 30 additional minutes. He said to the owner he left his house 20 minutes after placing his ordering. There were additional wait times for 7 of the 8 people who called in takeout orders. Our wait time was equally long. There seemed to be ample help in the back from where I was sitting. We were in the restaurant for 65 minutes from the time we walked in until the time we left. Nothing screamed ambience, experience, as well as so few orders for this to occur. One of my biggest letdowns in any sit down restaurant, other than a fast food restaurant is bottled drinks. I like water served in a glass, with ice, a straw, and refills. I'd like to say I would give them another chance, but my partner was hellbent not returning due to the 1 vegan option and service. It's a shame such wonderful flavors were overshadowed by less than great service and extensive wait times for us and the guests who ordered takeout.

I have wanted to go there for the last year. After an afternoon of shopping in the area, he mentioned he would like to try Indian food again. I was more than good with it. We pulled into the shopping plaza to an unassuming restaurant. The plaza has an Outback and Love's Coffee. Love's is execptional in coffee and tasty foods; Outback is a typical chain. This one is better than most. We arrived after shopping and walked into a restaurant with only one table seated. I must say it was Jan 2. Note: upon leaving, Outback wasn't packed based on the parking lot as we left, and this Outback is always packed. We enter the restaurant with a strong aroma of Indian spices. I did notice a sign by the door to franchise. I'm NOT into reviewing franchised restaurants, but I would bite my tongue and review. We were seated immediately and offered drinks. We both ordered water and I made my way to the bathroom to wash my hands. I returned to see 2 bottled waters from Sam's Club. Indian food has a bite and I knew I would need more than a bottle of water. Our order was taken, Fish 65, Lamb Vindaloo, Lentil Soup and Garlic Naan. I saw an episode of triple D where Lamb Vindaloo was made and I had to try it. The Lentil Soup came out for us to share. He didn't like it at first as he is use to Greek Lentil Soup and not the spice it had. I loved it!! As we slurped it, he grew to love it. The meal then came out, he ordered the Fish 65 and I ordered the Lamb and Naan. Both meals were amazing. The lamb, so soft you could cut with a fork, the sauce had a perfect spice. I ordered medium. The rice was perfectly cooked. My partner loved his fish, so much that he said he would come back, and he is the pickiest of eaters. I tried his entree and the sauce was amazing, I thought it was better than the Lamb Vindaloo sauce. I had two downfalls. Bottled water! When eating anywhere in the US, I like a glass that is filled that I shouldn't have to pay for! . But more importantly, I disliked the guy behind me, who I am guessing works there, on his phone, on speaker, carrying on with multiple conversations. I don't need to hear about your bidness. Tacky at best!

Heartbreaking food shortages for wedding catering and poor management - Proceed with caution…read more We chose Flames Indian Cuisine for our multi-day Indian wedding based on the owner's personal assurance that because the restaurant was local, they could not run out of food. Unfortunately, the reality was a bride and groom's worst nightmare. The planning process was incredibly stressful. It took weeks to get a finalized menu or contract, and we weren't even able to settle the payment until the week before the event. Communication was consistently delayed. Despite paying for a 200-person guest count and having fewer guests than contracted, we ran out of food at nearly every event. This was witnessed by our guests, the venue staff, and our wedding planner. When we confronted the owner, he blamed our guests for "eating too much" rather than taking responsibility for under-preparing. He promised an internal investigation and a resolution within a month. It has now been three months, and despite numerous follow-ups, he has completely ignored our attempts to resolve this amicably. In Indian weddings, food is a pillar of the celebration. To have our guests waiting 10+ minutes for refills that never came was embarrassing and a clear breach of our contract. I would strongly advise any couple to look elsewhere if you want a caterer who is professional and honors their commitments.

We started with the Vegetable Platter--crispy samosas bursting with spiced potato and peas, pakoras that were light and addictive, and paneer tikka so tender and smoky from the clay oven. For mains, the Butter Chicken was pure bliss: creamy tomato gravy clinging to juicy tandoori chicken pieces, rich but not overwhelming. The Lamb Rogan Josh stole the show--aromatic with cinnamon, cardamom, and garam masala, the lamb melting in every bite with that slow-cooked depth. We added a side of Garlic Naan, fresh and pillowy with just the right blister and buttery garlic kick, plus some fluffy Basmati rice to soak it all up. Everything was perfectly spiced (we went moderate, but the server guided us flawlessly), portions were generous enough for leftovers, and the bill came in under $60 for two with apps, mains, and naan--total steal for this quality. No desserts listed, but honestly, we were too stuffed to care. If you're craving real-deal Indian--think Goan curries, Chettinad heat, or tandoori perfection--Flames is your spot. Already booking round two. Tampa, consider me obsessed!
