If you're looking for legit wood-fired pizza in Brandon, Pizza Rock is absolutely worth a stop. I ordered The Butcher's Pizza and the first thing that stood out was the crust--crispy on the bottom, chewy in the right way, and cooked perfectly. They're using a New York-built wood-fired oven with a rotating turntable, so the pizza is constantly moving while it cooks, and you can taste the difference. The cheese melts evenly, the edges get that beautiful fire-kissed char, and the whole pie has that true fire-roasted flavor. The experience inside was just as good as the food. The restaurant is extremely clean, there's a ton of space (great for families or groups), and the staff was super friendly. They took time to talk with me and shared the Brandon location opened in 2018, and that they had to complete special training/certifications to even qualify to buy and operate that oven. You can tell it's a family-run business with real pride and passion behind what they're doing. Even the pizza box is a cool touch--nice branding and attention to detail. Only small critique: I just wish The Butcher's Pizza had a little more topping coverage. Flavor was great just could've used a bit more "loaded" factor for a butcher-style pie. Why, oh why, did I wait so long to come back?! It was time for another delicious piece of the rock. (Those of us of a certain age are now humming the old Prudential Insurance commercial) Admittedly, it's been a couple years since we've been here. They've painted outside and in, but it's still cozy and has the "local favorite feeling"... and we somehow ended up in the same booth. It was a Thursday afternoon, between lunch and dinner, so it wasn't busy. The plan was simple: thin crust pepperoni and that amazing Marty's salad. It's heavenly-and huge!!! (I wish I could say I had leftovers for days, but I couldn't leave it alone once I got home!) I really enjoy this place: service is personable and prompt, the food is excellent, everything is so clean, casual and welcoming inside. I need to become a regular. It's conveniently located near Brandon hospital, with a parking lot right out front. Somehow, we've always been here at "off" times of day-but I'll bet it's super busy on weekend nights. We stopped in this past Saturday night (3/28) for dinner. What a cool place! The decor grabbed our eye as there was plenty of rock memorabilia to catch your eye. The food was outstanding. We started with a Chop Salad. It was fresh, tasty and huge! We followed up with a sausage and pepperoni pie. It's likely the best pizza we've come across since we moved to Florida. Our server, Dakota, was extremely prompt, attentive and friendly. She was very knowledgeable of the menu. You just don't find that kind of service anymore. Pizza had a nice crispy crust but too much spicy pepperoni and not enough cheese. The garlic bread was on a good chewy bun it was too garlicy and they hardly buy any cheese on top (see picture). These guys cut corners with the lack of cheese. Not nice for paying premium prices for their items. read more

There are only two pizza places in Florida that deserve 5 stars and Pizza Rock is one of them. Pizza Rock has become one of our go to places to eat with friends. The service is ALWAYS great. The pizza is as good as it gets in our area. They have a good variety and the Fig and the Pig is one of my favorite anywhere. All this pales in comparison to Marty's chopped salad. Seriously, when is the last time you heard of a pizza place people will go to just for the salad. Love being able to see the pizza oven as they cook up your pizza pie. The interior is comfortable. Nothing spectacular, but I don't expect spectacular from a pizza place. I want somewhere where it feels a bit like home, where friends can talk and enjoy good food. That is exactly what Pizza Rock is. I now have one complaint and almost deducted a star for it. They switched to Pepsi from Coke. Love Coke with pizza and now I can't have it. If I could give them a six star rating I would. First off it's an obscure location that's for sure. It's deceiving from the outside as well. The inside is bright and inviting with an array of seating choices (booth, table, high tops and bar seating. Service was great even with only ones server we saw. The menu and pizza choices do not disappoint. The mozzarella cheese bread appetizer was done really well. Great crust and covered in cheese with an excellent marinara sauce. The Butcher Pizza was huge and covered on multiple toppings. Done Brooklyn style it was flavorful and tasty with a real NY style crust. Walked in for the first time and knew immediately this place was going to be legit. We weren't wrong. The vibe was perfect, very old school pizzeria with a modern touch. Great tunes and loved the booths. Pizza was amazing! Detroit style for me, Maui wowi for my husband and split an Italian chopped, the half is still huge. Love a place that when you add toppings, there's no searching for them, the Detroit had them under and over the cheese. The food = amazing (we ordered the garlic cheese bread and The Don pizza). Both made to perfection and full of flavor. Initial encounter = not so good. While we understand they were busy and just had a rush, the first waitress was rather rude. We decided to sit at the bar and were passed several times by both waitresses before we were acknowledged (other than being told at the door they were short staffed and we'd have to wait quite a bit). However, when we were given menus and able to order drinks, things progressed well. We understand bad days, being overwhelmed, etc. and while we always try and support local, this encounter almost made us turn around and leave, never to return. I'm glad we stayed and enjoyed a great experience. We will definitely bring our family back...maybe just not during a rush. Decided to try a new pizza joint in Brandon/Valrico area. Pizza Rock was very good. Wood fired pizzas and so much more. Staff was very friendly when we came in and greeted us. Very cool interior with lots of seating including a bar. We had the Butcher and 2 orders of wings. Garlic Parm and Mild were both very good. Are too quickly to get a pic. Butcher is loaded with meats and was very good. Fresh mozzarella was good and tomato sauce was tasty. Only item for improvement would be a little bit quicker with the service.
