We ordered a large great white and a small bbq.. In hindsight, we should switched the sizes around with the BBQ being the large. It was that delicious. Great White (Olive oil and garlic base, layered with mozzarella, provolone, seasoned ricotta, roasted tomatoes, crumbled feta cheese, fresh Roma tomatoes and sweet onions) BBQ (Mozzarella cheese, roasted pork tossed in house-made BBQ sauce, roasted mild poblano peppers and topped with chives and sweet Peppadew peppers) Overall we were completely satisfied. Joe is a rock star! Despite a hopping patio at lunch, he took care of all his tables with ease. I've been to the Mellow Mushroom in Tempe and the Happy Valley location is just as stellar. I love how they nail down all the small details, even nicely designed menus. They could probably add a few more lunch specials to the menu but there are so many choices anyway, that it doesn't matter a whole lot. Magic Mushroom Soup Bowl: The place is called Mellow Mushroom after all! This is a hearty bowl of soup and as we transition to cooler weather, this soup is just perfect (ask for chili flakes to make it even better!). Truly satisfying. Pepperoni Cheese Bread: A very nice alternative to the pizza (although more caloric than most of the smaller pizzas! Oops.). The garlic bread isn't greasy and the flavor is great. Pleased that it's served with a side of marinara as well. Although on the appetizer section of the menu, it's a meal. 10 Oven-Baked Hot Wings: I have to say that this was a disappointment. I love wings but these were just plain dry. Not juicy or tender. And while I ordered them hot, I didn't like the sauce too much. Live and learn! While this restaurant has vegan meat and cheese, I think they could do much more to provide options for vegans. I would like to see an entirely vegan menu like Picazzo's has. As it was, our only options were to customize the pizza and customize a salad. Maybe have vegan ranch on the menu? I hadn't been to mellow mushroom in years and had high hopes that they would have expanded their vegan options to be more in line with their competitors but was disappointed. The pizza was ok. Came here with the kids. Great place for kids and the whole family. Easy with large groups and good for loud kids. Our kids (and my wife and I) love the pretzels. Beer cheese is a great add. Pizza is always solid as they have some great recipes for toppings. Server was on top of refills and helpful with recommendations. The restaurant is always busy but they have text service so you can wait in your car. Came here on Monday afternoon. Everything was great! The hostess wasn't the best and she seemed irritated when seating us, didn't even give a smile but it was looked past. Waitress Shawnie was fabulous. Kind, attentive and fast. Very appreciated! I got the golden goose, honestly I should have choose something else because it was A LOT of ginger, in my head I thought it would be more pineapple but that's on me, I'll get something different next time. Got the cheese bread for an appetizer and then a half pizza of mozzarella cheese and feta and other half pepperoni. Yum! None of the food disappointed. This time visited late night after 10pm on Saturday and the ambience was awesome with tons of people. Surprisingly it was happy hour too. All drinks and muchies 50% price. After eating a lot with 3 draft beers bill was just $30. Isn't this incredible value. I would say pizzas are not the best in valley but taste good. We took thin crust and extra cheese burst. First time here and I enjoyed the experience. I had the Thai chicken wings and the House Special & Merry Prankster pizzas. The wings were fantastic and I wished I had gotten the large order. They had great flavor and were nice and crispy. The pizzas were good but I felt like they were lacking in flavor. The sausage flavor seemed a bit strong and drowned out the rest of the flavors. Through the website, I've gotten carryout via online at least four times counting tonight and they've never been prompt on the time the online order says to pick up at...never ideal, but okay. Tonight was the last straw. I ordered a pizza and salad online and entered a pick up time of 7:45pm. Then, I called soon after asking if it would be possible to change that time and pick it up earlier. The individual I spoke to said yes, can pick up 30 minutes from the call (called around 6:30pm), to which I said great, be there at 7pm and the person acknowledged that 7pm was the pick up time. Got there tonight a little after 7pm. Checked in, was told the kitchen was running behind, it will be 10 minutes. No real apology. I did get offered a drink while I was waiting which I said no to. 7:30pm rolled by. I asked for an update to the hosts, they went to the kitchen and said that it will be a few more minutes and they were boxing it up. 7:37pm rolled around, no order. After 7:40pm, I finally got my order. Lackluster sorry. If a customer calls and asks if an order can be done earlier and it can't, say no. I'd rather have a no than wait for 40 (!) minutes. read more

We come here all the time. The slowest service everrrrrrrrrrr. Literally takes forever to get just our drinks! And don't even get me started when we do a to go order. We sat there for almost an hour!!!! We have other things to do. Their Portia got way smaller. Before there pretzel bits used to be full and not there are only about 10 on the plate. Our friend took us to lunch here and highly recommended the mushroom pizza... it was sooooo greasy. Our server was very bubbly and sweet though, but definitely not where we'd go for pizza. The Mellow Mushroom pizza chain is my favorite. The crust is different, perhaps includes a little wheat. They toss their dough the old fashioned way, and it's always fun to see it fly. The Holy Shiitake is my favorite pizza. It's a white pizza (no tomato sauce) which features mushrooms, garlic, caramelized onions., and topped with a drizzle of aioli. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The bar could use a few lights for better lighting. Some lights either weren't turned on or were burnt out. The pretzel bites would taste better if they were dipped in garlic butter and rolled in parmesan cheese. The cheese bread would also taste better with garlic butter spread on it under the cheese but we did appreciate that this business makes actual cheese bread and not what's really cheese pizza made on the same pizza dough but called cheese bread. We ordered the pretzel bites it comes with cheese. They are free when you check in on yelp, while you order a pizza as well. The pretzel bites are good, the cheese is okay. We also got the cheese calazone, really thick cheese. We also got wings, we did half mild & have dry. The dry tasted good like fried chicken wings. We got one pizza half sausage half pepperoni. Then another the house pizza but we took off the beef and replaced it with extra cheese. It tasted like a fired pie pizza. The crust was good too. Great place for late nights as well. As I was trying to explain that to who I thought was a staff member, he asked me "where would you like to sit?! At the table or on the bar? Or ON table!! Wait, never mind, I don't work here!" Confused, I looked around and waited for another person to approach me. The sweet girl that was there apologized for my experience, but I pointed the guy out and she told me he was a server.
