I'll start with that this was a busy day- Pi day - so there were lots of people and there were all hands on deck making sure everyone was getting served. BUT, I was served DOUGHY, undercooked pizza! When you compare the look of my son's pizza to mine, you can clearly see my pizza should've stayed in the oven longer! I'm so surprised that it was even served to me like this. After one bite, I asked the server if it could be put back in the oven for a little longer and she says she asked manager and was told "no" that it was too many other pizzas to be cooked! Really? So this is my review of MY experience. I wish so badly that I had been heard or at the very least, for the manager to come LOOK at what was served to me because my kids' pizzas were delicious and I really wanted to enjoy mine like they were enjoying theirs! We have eaten here several times and enjoy the food. The only problem is when we order take out they always forget items. This recent visit we sent our son to pick up our order. When he got home the did not pack 5 cookies and also the arugula for one of our pizzas. We tried calling but no one answered. We sent our son back to get the missing item and the young lady at the counter argued with him as if he was being shady and was trying to get free cookies and arugula. This was not a good experience since my son was not given the whole order the accused of trying to get items we did not order. My team went to Sauce for lunch on a Wednesday around 11am and had a great experience! There was plenty of seating for our group of 8 at that time, but by 11:30a the place was filling up quick! The restaurant is super clean with a large patio, however I didn't see misters so the patio was totally empty in the middle of a hot summer day. They take your order at the register and then bring your food to the table. For a large group we were pleasantly surprised how quickly the food came out - maybe 15mins after sitting down. No issues with any orders and everyone was VERY happy with their portions and tastiness of food. Our group ordered a variety of items - salads, pizzas, pasta, and some shareable appetizers. The portions are generous and many took half of their food home. The pizza comes on thin or regular crust which is always a nice option to have! The tabletops pop off when you try to move them (I asked if we could move things and was told of course we could) they were wobbly and unstable. Each of us placed our order one pasta we added on the spicy chicken sausage, the girl taking the order didn't type anything so we repeated that we wanted the add on, she said she got it. The two pastas came out first and the one pasta did not have the add on. When asked person who delivered said, oh it's ground meat so I'm sure it's in there. There was no meat at all. Had to go back to the counter to get the meat. By the time our pizzas came out the pasta eater were long done with their meal. Don't understand how they can't time food to come out together. We ordered two desserts with the rest of our order and were told to let them know when we wanted them brought out. Got two of the apple pinwheels for the six of us and only one order came out. Had to wait about 10 minutes for the other half of our group to have their dessert. The food was tasty but the service and overall experience (with everyone eating at different times) was not enjoyable at all. Pizzas were hot and fresh, we came not long after opening and they were maybe 40% at capacity so we got lucky to get our food before our movie time. Usually it's super busy but again we went right after opening on a Sunday so it wasn't too bad! We arrived well before the Sunday lunch crowd and placed our order to dine in. My daughter chose the half order Mac &Cheese with chicken , my husband, the meatball pannini and I ordered the turkey and havarti with a side cup of tomato soup. My daughter received her order first and then about 8 mins later, they brought my soup. 15-17 minutes later my husband and I received our panninis. I wanted to have soup with my sandwich so I asked if they could re-heat my soup. This took at least 10 mins before they returned my cup of soup. I appreciate that they did give me a new cup of soup, but three other patrons that came in after us and ordered at the register received their food before us. This is an order at the front and then find a seat type of place. We came around 5:30 on a Saturday evening and it was fairly crowded. There was a 30 minute wait for pizza. I didn't mind much of this at all but then we got our food. I ordered the Pizza suprema. I had the hand pulled crust. It was ok but nothing spectacular. My husband got the pig pizza. It was also good. He got the thin crust. The reason for my two stars. They had advertised a burrata, herb tomato pizza. The picture looks amazing. What we got .. I think they must have run out of tomatoes and the oven may have stopped browning crust. See pictures for why I say this. I was extremely disappointed and felt it was massive false advertising. I'm not sure if come again. The price doesn't match the quality of food or ambiance since you have to basically wait around until a seat becomes available. We also had to ask twice for water cups which was a little surprising since we asked while we ordered. Average food horrible service they hire a lot of young kids and don't teach them customer support or customer service. Very average food not bad but they are always under staffed or not able to take orders because they didn't staff properly. Went on 3.14 pie day horrible 2 years in a row I'm talking 2-3 hour wait even if you order on the app and it says to come get it it's done. Same thing they didn't make any adjustments just same chaos and three hour wait for everybody. Can't tell you how many times I've walked in and before you can even say hi they say 50 minute wait for pizzas before they even welcome you into the restaurant. Also they don't answer their phones. Everything was brought to the table and arrived quickly . The salad and pizza both looked amazing. I'm glad we ordered one salad to share because it was definitely more than enough for two people. The pizza had great flavor and dough though not over cooked I wish it would've been a little toastier just so it didn't flop so easy when picking up a slice. No matter what it was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. They definitely have a lunch rush because it cleared out fairly fast once it hit after 12. There is patio seating as well, but it's a bit toasty out still so we opted for inside. I'd definitely come back again. I am a huge pizza lover, but I'd come back even for that salad. If you've been to Norterra before, you know there's plenty of parking available on either side of Sauce. During my most recent visit, we dined in with a group of five people. They let us know it would be 20-30 minutes before our food was out, since they were in the middle of a lunch rush. That said ... our food was out in less than 10 minutes! We were definitely willing to wait, but the fact that all of our food came out so quickly while they were busy definitely stands out as fantastic service. Between the five of us, we ordered a myriad of dishes. No pizza this time around, but I could definitely eat an entire Prosciutto and Fig pie by myself. I ordered the Italian Chopped salad ... which was bright and flavorful. The crunchy chickpeas and the roasted garlic dressing make this salad exceptional. Other dishes ordered around the table included Sauce's famous Mac & Cheese, their meat lasagna, and the always delicious Chicken, Spinach, and Apple salad. This particular salad is my sister's favorite anywhere in Arizona, and she often recreates it at home. If you've made it this far in reading my review, here's a little local secret -- you can order their Mac & Cheese on top of a pizza. You're welcome. Service - sorry but I am use to better and caring service. As stated in my review we received soapy water from the tea maker. If formed bubbles when the girl emptied out the machine. The amazing part was she emptied the machine, no rinse, no nothing. She just started the tea making process. Food is great but everyone was distracted and going through the motions. We decided to get a takeout order. It was easy enough to order the pizza and pick it up. Once inspected the pizza looked good. That's where it ends. We order a gluten free crust which cost maybe $4.00 more. My husband has become more gluten conscious while I have no preference. Biting into the pizza not only was the crust terrible (maybe even undercooked) but the toppings slid off so easily and the crust itself was horrible. To both of us it was like cardboard with toppings. Both of us decided it was not worth the calories and since we were dining outside promptly tossed the pizza. Waste of $25 Ordered pickup - Strawberry-Basil Lemonade ($4.00) - Grilled Cheese with tomato soup ($13.00) - A side of Mac 'N Cheese ($6.50) -2 Pieces of Bread ($1.00) I walked inside to pickup my order and was told they didn't have the basil lemonade and no soda but I could still get some lemonade and the front host instantly handed me a cup, I would've preferred a refund but whatever since i got a cup. Walked over to get a drink and they only had iced tea. I was upset because i don't really drink iced tea but I got some anyways, i mixed two flavors together and it tasted like water. I got back to my hotel with the iced water and i got chicken noddle soup instead of the tomato soup i had ordered, on top of them only giving me one roll of bread with chips? Not sure if the chips come with the grilled cheese but I'm fairly upset at this point. I go to try the macaroni and cheese and it taste like pasta. That's it. I took a bite of the grilled cheese and it tastes the same as the macaroni and cheese... the taste of nothing. I ended up having to douse the mac n cheese in salt and pepper to even have an inkling of taste. We come here a lot and never had any issue , today we came for lunch and when we went and ordered the lady failed to tell us that they were out of goat cheese for the pizza we order and the salad we ordered as well as the basil lemonade as they were out of that as well so they charged us for a fountain drink even thought if we were told ahead of time I would have just had water, if we would have known while we were ordering we would have ordered something different . I just wish there was a little communication up front . There was a gentleman that came over to make things right but the pizza we had ordered was more expensive than the other one we would have ordered if known ahead of time that they were out of one of the main toppings . So businesses at Norterra aren't generally acknowledged for excellent service but here goes. I've been to sauce about 3x in the past two weeks. Every time there's consistent, friendly service. Most recently I went there to buy pizza crusts. whoops the secret is out now they actually sell pizza crusts for a great price! And Caleb says sure and here's a free drink while you wait. Nice gesture. He then asks me what I'm going to make and I explain I bought a pizza cooker and I'm giving my kids a demonstration of quickly dad can burn a pizza in it.
