From the moment Robbie came up to our table I knew he was my new best friend. The charisma he had was absolutely magnetic and we had such amazing conversations while he was doing an amazing job serving us. Despite being a group of 6 teens, he did not look down on us and instead allowed us to talk about the audition we were celebrating. He then proceeded to joke with us and at the end brought us some amazing desserts, even remembering one of our food aversions and making sure to accommodate her. We are forever greatful for Robbie, THE king crab. read more

We had Robbie as a server and he was AMAZING if you decide to come ask for him he will make the experience 1000x better he was amazing

When I walked into angry crab shack I felt like a cradled baby feeling the love of its mother for the first time in its infant life. The worker who made me feel this way was the one and only Robbie. From the moment he came to the table and just simply told us his name we instantly knew he was our new best friend. I will forever be grateful for being able to just be in THE Robbie's presence. Everyday feels like I'm walking on sunshine just because I met Robbie. If you ever go to Angry crab shack, ask for the king crab, Robbie! read more

What a great Find. The wife and I were in town for an Aniversary getaway. When we walked in we were greeted. Y the great staff at the front door. We're seated promptly. Our server was Robbie. He was amazing and offered us plenty of time to ask questions and explain the sauces and spices. He was so attentive. The other employees were all nice and friendly. Robbie went above and beyond. Manager was walking around greeting people at the tables. Excellent experience. read more

So we've been to this location several times it's been OK until last night, it was never fantastic but it was never horrible last night with the exception.. We got there around 6 PM got seated immediately waitress came to the table pretty quickly brought us our drinks again pretty quickly we placed our order , and again the food came pretty quickly, but to say it was disappointing is a huge understatement. I had gotten a Poboy sandwich it had two tiny pieces of cod that were 90% breading and look like they had been soaked and oil for a half hour extremely greasy and the roll it was on was so chewy you couldn't bite through it kind of like when you put a stale loaf of bread in the microwave the tomatoes on it were green and they're supposed to be dressing on it nope not there, but the fries were excellent, my wife ordered oysters fried and a small house salad with ranch dressing and a Pepsi. The Pepsi was flat. The ranch dressing was in a tiny little cup and hardly enough for half the salad again tomatoes on it she had to throw out because they were green and flavorless and half of the lettuce was brown and slimy, she said the oysters did not taste that fresh and were heavy on the breading, she asked for extra lemon they brought her a plate with lemon slices that look like somebody had chewed on them. I probably should've said something to the waitress, but she seemed a bit preoccupied with her other tables really wasn't around much never offered us drink refills, showed up with the food showed up with the check and pretty much that's all we saw of her, overall just a crappy experience and I know it's not a five star fine dining restaurant but when I go in and spend $60 on a meal for two people, I would like it to at least be somewhat enjoyable, it just was a total disappointment. It's highly unlikely that I will go back. I've been to several of their locations. I've never been overwhelmed at any of them, but most of the time it's been solid, the funny thing is my wife said why don't we go to Culver's tonight and I said no let's go to the angry crab shack and she said OK that sounds better she was very disappointed and so was I and it cost me three times as much as it would have to go to Culver's so there's that as well. I never complain about the price in any of my reviews when I go out to eat, it's not about how much it costs I couldn't care less about that. I'm there to have a nice meal and I don't have a problem paying the price for it at the same time,I don't wanna feel like I pissed away my money on garbage that's kind of how I felt last night. read more

This was my second time at this establishment. Today I came with my husband and 4 boys. When we walked in, we were quickly seated but were lead to a table the manager deemed too small for us. He instructed the host to take us to a different table and then changed it again. The table we sat at was indeed big enough but had giant rips in the seat and the jagged edges kept scratching me so bad I finally got a paper towel from by the bathroom and put it on top of the rips. The paper towel got holes in it from the jagged edges. My husband got a half dozen raw oysters which he and one of my sons enjoyed. Then we split the shellfish sampler. Three of my sons got kids meals which came with so few fries I had to order an extra side of fries. My 8 year old got his chicken and fries and asked why he had such a small portion. They usually order kids meals at other locations. The shellfish boil had great flavor but I could tell they recooked the shrimp, lobster tail and 1/2 crab as the meat was not hot. It was actually cool to cold. Some of the shrimp were improperly deveined and I had to finish the job. I also noticed that the manager seemed to check on all the tables but ours... after seating us at a table with 2 ripped seats... makes me feel we were singled out for some reason and intentially given subpar service. Our server - Noel - was very good, kind and attentive. He deserves to be recognized. The rest of the service, or lack there of, cold seafood and small portions warranted a 3/5 stars. read more

From the minute we walked in to the time we walked out of the doors, the experience was amazing! This was our first time and we came to celebrate our anniversary and it did not disappoint!! Our server Robbie was phenomenal to say the least! It was busy, but he still took the time to explain things to us and to make sure we got what would be best for us. The food was amazing with great portions for the price and the taste is amazing! We would highly recommend! read more

The food is good but they really need to update the furniture. All the booths are super old, probably from the old Applebees and it just seems like nobody cares about the seating situation. I understand going for a grunge look but just install wooden bench booths or something because the current booths look like crap. The service is generally professional and nice. The onion rings, wings and shrimp boil is the way to go food wise. Trifecta level 3 read more

We ordered off door dash. It was easy to order. 2 Dungeons crab clusters, 10 shrimp deveined and peeled, noodles, 3 small red potatoes and 1 corn on the cob. We picked Cajun garlic sauce. It was spicy full flavor but not hot. We ordered it on New year's evening around 6:30. Pick up was super easy. Food was in a plastic bag double sealed. Cost was about $70 without tip. It was a perfect New Year's Eve meal for 2! read more

Last Monday on my last day of vacation out in Phoenix, my friend took me to this restaurant that she and her family absolutely love! I let Mike know who is our server that it was my birthday celebration and he's for sure took care of me from his immediate service will be sat down to when he made suggestions on the menu for me and even doubt when he surprise me with a birthday dessert! I have not really been to too many crab places, but this one was super delicious! The portion size for the lunch menu options was on point! I was super full and I think I had a little to go box for one of my sides, but other than that I tore that bag up!The flavors and the spice level were perfect! When I come back to Phoenix, I'm definitely coming back here and I'm gonna enjoy and even bigger portion! read more

There's a reason you find an Angry Crab anywhere in the valley, and that's because they are going to make a consistently great seafood boil! Portions are great, price is reasonable (for seafood!), and the spice is chefs kiss! Highly recommend ordering the hush puppies with a side of honey. Drinks were good, but you could take them or leave them because you're really coming here for that boil! Staff is super attentive and gets you everything you need. Really fun place for the family because the walls are so busy, you could play "I spy" forever. read more

Angry Crab Shack - Build your own boil - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Angry Crab-always a staple to eating seafood with your hands. However, I'd like to showcase the service. When our waiter took our order, he asked if we wanted lemons, salt and pepper etc to enjoy with our food. Being the seafood connoisseurs we are, we said yes to the lemons. We expected maybe 4-5 wedges. This man went in the back, cut up 6-7 lemons and brought it to us. (Pic shows 1 tray, we got 3 trays) we only needed a wedge each, with 3 of us enjoying seafood. We took the rest home and made homemade lemonade, lemoncello and lemon curd. Thanks Angry Crab for the excess amount of lemons I used for so many useful things. read more

We wanted to catch dinner somewhere close to where i was staying and where everyone lives. This place came up. Yummy! You know, when you get the bin and gloves.... Food was spot on, even the appetizers of fried pickles and the hush puppies! We ordered a variety of menu items. Everything was so good. We did not leave hungry. We had shrimp, Dungeness crab, sausage etc. All delicious. The sauce 3 out of 4 selected was the trifecta! Ambiance: bar like seafood boil atmosphere! Desserts? We had none. Too full. Our server was great! Always there to check on us. I saw when in the area, give it a try! Would we go back? YES! read more

Please dont do business with them. I literally asked for a different sauce for my $12 appetizer and they said they would accommodate it only to charge $3. I ordered soup and it was about a 1/3 less than normal. Kinda ridiculous. I definitely wont do business with them again. read more

Angry Crab Shack - Not even a cup - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Recommended by my co-worker as I'm new to the area. Very delicious food. The Hush-Puppies were so yum! I had the fish and chips and found the tartar sauce to be unique and quite good!! Maybe a bit of mustard in there?! Loved it. The red beans and rice were perfectly cooked and super good! Add a bit of hot sauce and experience a bit of nirvana. Hid and had the scallops and rice bowl which did not seem appealing by sight to me, but he said were very very good. Our server was super friendly and did a great job with our experience. For the ambiance - a little too "rustic" for me but had we had a big ole crab boil on our table, it was the perfect setting for that!! read more

Love seafood so I'm always down for cajun crab boil! I'm new to AZ so I didn't know Angry Crab Shack was a well-known chain in the area and was really looking forward to trying the place out! Like most seafood shacks, they're almost ALWAYS busy. Luckily, when my friend and I got there, it wasn't a full house. The overall vibe is like every other seafood shack you go to.. looks like a ship and you can write on the poles/walls with a sharpie. We ended up getting 1lb of shrimp w/ head and 1lb snow crab-- trifecta and hot! ..as well as a side of rice & sweet potato fries! ~THE VERDICT~ FOOD: The snow crab was cooked perfectly but it seemed like the shrimp was a little overcooked to the point that the shell was harder to remove. Hot is definitely hot enough (for me) but my friend actually wanted to order the hottest level-- however, since she's an introvert, she pulled away from it because she says they usually announce it on the speaker LOL SERVICE: I feel like the services could have been improved a little as they didn't seem as attentive. We sat right next to the kitchen area and our sweet potato fries sat there for a good 15 minutes before it was given to us. My friend had even joked that she was just going to stand up and grab the fries herself HAHA The fries were a little overcooked and would have loved some sort of dip (like garlic sauce.. *hint hint*) other than ketchup. Overall, I think we'd go again but would definitely try a different location or hopefully, we'd have a better experience. read more

We originally went to the Angry Crab Shack just a couple of miles from our house, but the A/C was broken and it was uncomfortably hot inside. On top of that, it took our server nearly 20 minutes just to bring us water. We decided to leave and drive to the Happy Valley location, and we're so glad we did. Robbie was a complete difference. From the moment we sat down, he greeted us with a smile and asked if we were celebrating anything. When we told him it was my birthday, he made us feel welcome and taken care of the entire evening. He was friendly, attentive, and always one step ahead. We never had to ask for drink refills or anything else because he was constantly checking on us without being intrusive.Robbie is hands down one of the best servers we've ever had. He turned what started as a disappointing evening into a wonderful birthday dinner. We'll definitely be returning to the Happy Valley location because of the outstanding service we received. read more

Angry Crab is always welcoming and the staff is always cheerful. I love the environment here, which is "busy" but welcoming. The food is decent but could be better. It's worth eating but I always feel it's not necessarily cooked to order, or at least doesn't taste that way. With that said, it is my go to if I want seafood during the week, but not my go to if I wanna take my family out for a nice meal. read more

Excellent Food and great service! Went for lunch and had the boil, will be back again!

Food: I came here for mediocre seafood and almost got it, just a smidgen under. I got the catfish basket and clam chowder. Fish was fried in traditional southern batter and had a great flavor. The filet was paper thin on one end almost made it to half an inch on the other, so you are buying the fried batter. Fries had a good flavor and the slaw was average. The clam chowder was delicious and came in a big bowl with a small bread roll, would recommend this. I sat at the bar, and the server was nice enough, hey unfortunately for him, the food items I came for, they were out of. Not a good sign to be out of regular menu items. Bottom line, I probably won't go back to this restaurant for "seafood". read more

Came here for lunch with my nephew and kids. We love seafood boils. We were greeted and seated upon entering. Our server was very nice but she did look overwhelmed. There were quite a few patrons there already. I think I only saw three people running around trying to keep up with all of the customers. The service was slow but it did look like they were under staffed. So not holding that against them, not the servers fault. Now onto the food, we ordered the family feast. It was delicious. I've been here before and have been disappointed with their sausage but this time they were OK. This place is very chill with sports playing in the background. We will come back when we're craving seafood. read more

First few experiences were at the bar top with Robbie. He was our saving grace most of the time. When things would go a ray. Example appertizer missing and having to be remade or missing food from the boil bag. But on this day I ordered to go online pick up. Sure its Christmas eve so I expected my order to take awhile. 47 minutes later. I go inside to grab it. Next I get to the car to check my order. Im missing an item. Not huge deal I am still here. I go back in to get my missing item. Then arriving home I see everything that was fried such as sweet potato fries, wings and fish were all over cooked. I mean dark like chocolate cake. lol Well we cant eat this. So 48$ later. Bummer I call the next day to address it with the manager. ( the day after Christmas) She tells me I have to go through door dash for a refund..... Interesting considering I went to your business website and ordered directly through the business. Then I was told ALL online orders are connected to Door dash. No refund and never ate the food. Word of advice skip this place. Nothing special here. The quality of food is not a factor here wheb ordering to go! read more

Angry Crab Shack - Updates 8/20/21 - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I only had the boil and it turned out to be a little salty, the flavor was yummy though and the contents of the boil were good quality and generous. It is expensive, but our waiter, Robby, makes the experience all worth it! I've read other reviews commenting on a up-beat guy and an amazingly enthusiastic waiter, I knew there was someone who'd greet us with a smile but I didn't expect how top tier his service was. He anticipated every single of our needs, he was quick on his feet but never rushed, attentive but never hovered. I ended up crying during my meal, and for someone to wait on a girl who was a mussel in her hand while she's sobbing at the table- I felt like it was completely normal to be crying at the local seafood boil. Food is a 4, Robby is the 5th star that makes this place 5 out of 5. You know you've made it when all your tables leave you laughing as he walks them out, thanking them for complimenting his service. Slay Robby Slay. read more

Today our service was beyond excellent! Jonya was an excellent employee and served us above and beyond. She listened and catered to our asking. The food tasted great, the ambiance was usual but clean and many employees instead of standing around were making sure booths, tables, napkins dependents and bottles were wiped and clean. Only negative would be the price....‍.... Two people, no alcohol.....$190.00.....and only one person had seafood. Thank you again Jonya!! We will be back. read more

I've been here a couple times before and it was really good. I always had really good service but this last time I just came I ordered a to go order when usually I ate there they forgot to place one of my items in the bag, which was no biggie since I could just drive back and get them, but once I arrive back at my house and opened up the seafood boil, while in the middle of eating it me and my friend kept noticing small hairs inside the boil I think we found around 6 to 7 hairs that were black and short straight hair, which 100% isn't me or my friends hair. It was pretty disgusting I had to stop eating or else I would've thrown up I'm pretty disappointed we for sure won't be returning. I never have ever wrote in a review of my entire life, and I felt the need to have to say something I believe bad experiences are bound to happen from time to time but it was absolutely disgusting and I hope the owner/workers see this and make improvements to ensure no hair gets mixed with food . read more

I am from Norfolk, VA - very good seafood where I live (on the Chesapeake). I ordered the shrimp basket: Shrimp fried til it was tasteless and dry. Red beans and rice was gross.... Nothing Cajun about it. Shrimp cocktail sauce off... tasted odd. Sweet tea was weak. Another person in my party ordered a Po-Boy and found it to be bland. Spite was ALL carbon no syrup. Another person in my party ordered the crab-boil and said it was just so-so. $127 + $20 in tip. Would've been happier at Long John Silvers. Twisted Crab-in Virginia is waaay better. I for one am not a big crab person, BUT this spot was pretty great. It was busy, but we were sat down pretty quickly, waitress made some great suggestions for us being there our first time. So first and foremost get you a Bacardi bucket. It's dangerously good. Has 4 or 5 different Bacardi rums in it and it goes down good, literally in a bucket. We got the family feat, had 3 different kinds of crab, 1 lobster, shrimp, sausage, corn and potatoes. This easily fed 4 adults and a 2 year old. For me one of the best crab boils I've had. Not a fan of crab but I was digging in. Really fun atmosphere, plenty of TV's to catch a game. Super friendly staff, just a really good experience. read more
